Re: Diet and MS- what do people think/do? [by OZMS]

Discuss MS here:: Diet and MS- what do people think/do?

I just look at things we see these days as opposed to what it was like years ago, the very big difference is food additives and junk food and pre-packaged meals etc. The main thing I have done is give up red meat, I still have the very odd bit of ham and bacon, but I used to eat some kind of red meat nearly every day, that has changed heaps now, I very rarely eat it now. I have never felt better, even if I do have junk food I will opt for the fish or chicken version of the cardboard they serve lol. Do I wander off my diet I try to stick to, of course I do and will continue to do it, but I have changed what I eat a lot. At christmas if I go to a Christmas dinner, I will hoe into all the hams, roasts of whatever kind, but that's once in a year, I really aren't worried.

I just can't think of a better reason to live the best you can, when you have something like MS or similar. We should be doing it anyway, regardless of MS.

;o)
Source: http://www.ozms.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2380&forum=2

The MS Centre, 398 Barkly Street, Footscray

Improving or maintaining family functioning is key to helping you and your children adapt to life with MS.

The Journey Club is a four week program for families with primary school aged children. In a supportive environment all family members attend together and learn complementary skills. Children and parents separate into two groups, covering a different topic each week (ie. Symptoms of MS, feelings, changes in family life, support systems) and using a range of games, activities and even art projects to generate discussion.

The MS Journey Club allows you and your children many opportunities to voice their concerns, dispel misunderstandings and myths about MS, and learn about MS together. It also helps you develop strategies for meeting the challenges of parenting with MS

Register by phoning 9845 2765 or emailing educationvic@mssociety.com.au with Journey Club in the subject line

This is a free program

The program will only proceed if we get sufficient numbers

Please delete if this email does not apply to your situation, the email system I use does not allow me to be selective,

thanks

Andrea Salmon

Education Program Coordinator

MS Australia – ACT/NSW/VIC

T 03 9845 2700• F 03 9845 2777

The Nerve Centre

54 Railway Road

Private Bag 900

BLACKBURN VIC 3130

email: asalmon@mssociety.com.au• www.msaustralia.org.au
Source: http://www.ozms.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2378&forum=18

Great to see you have a favourable outcome at this stage. I agree with Sue as far as record dates and times in a diary about what events have taken place. This will be worth its weight in gold should any further issues arise as it’s very easy for us all to forget exactly when something happened or what was exactly said in time to come. Also too with MS, the good old short term memory can become a real issue too…

Source: http://www.ozms.org/modules/wordpress/?p=335#comment-152
