StumbleUpon (SU) is a social bookmarking site where it is challenging to get a large, loyal following and content traction. It is less ergonomic than the social news site Digg, less functional than Reddit, and less social than both, but since they are sites that cater to current news, SU eventually will be the place where content can get far more long term evergreen traffic. SU encourages exploration, has a superior interface design, and is a [...]

Nobody is contesting that Syria has entered a civil war. Despite the efforts of Russia and China, the time for negotiation and for defusing the crisis by a political solution seems to be over.
I can't think of a time when I've ever agreed with Cal Thomas. I confess I don't seek him out, but when I see him on an occasional Op-Ed page I'll read him just to see what he's going to say that's going to infuriate me. I'm rarely disappointed. So as he sat on a panel at this year's CPAC and said what he said about Rachel Maddow, I wasn't shocked. He was at CPAC with his own peeps. It was cool.

Some Truths About Nevada (therationalmiddle.com)

Nevada, and Las Vegas in particular are deeply entwined in the defense business, but the state's natives have long fought over the large share of public land, and how it is governed. Nevadans prize their independent streak, and it is fair to point out that many of us raised in Nevada's public schools believe that Nevada joined the Union in 1864 because Lincoln needed us, not the other way around.

The White House Corespondents' Dinner was a target rich environment for POTUS, and many a target got theirs. However, I took personal pleasure in watching that clueless ass-hat Donald Trump getting his ass handed to him by the President.

The list of issues causing bitter divisions among Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill has a new entry: biodegradable cups.
When the House returns Monday from a week-long recess, members and staffers will see something that hasn't been in the Capitol for four years: Styrofoam. In the first move toward phasing out part of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) "Green the Capitol" program, polystyrene cups were reintroduced this week...

There has been no outcry from Christians or Republicans because they think it is to their benefit to silently approve of any means necessary to steer America toward a Corporate Theocracy.

End of Capitalism Theory insists there are deeper explanations for why this crisis is so severe, widespread, and long-lasting. Here's one explanation: The devastating quaking of the financial markets, and the lingering aftershocks we're experiencing in layoffs and cut-backs, are manifestations of much larger tectonic shifts under the surface of the economy. This turmoil originates from deep instabilities within capitalism, the global [...]
