A journey through four great mythologies, Loki allows the player to take-on the role of one of four heroes: a mighty Norse warrior, a fierce Greek fighter, a powerful Egyptian sorcerer or a skilled Aztec shaman. Each comes from a different mythological background and each has different strengths and skills and, therefore, radically different ways of fighting. During an epic adventure, the player gives battle to a multitude of enemies. Hundreds of creatures and opponents of every kind have been created for the game, so that the player is going to have to fight his/her way past skeletons, giant spiders, centaurs, mummies, harpies, wild animals, a vast array of soldiers, culminating in the showdowns with formidable bosses such as Medusa, Fenrir the wolf or Fafnir the dragon. Each boss has a particular way of fighting so the player must discover his weak points. As the hero(ine) advances through the game he/she isbe able to collect or exchange thousands of items, including 500 unique objects, such as Thor's hammer or Achilles' armour.

Diseases range from the everyday Explosive Sneezing - where a simple sneeze can launch the unfortunate patient several feet into the air, to the more rare Monkey Nuts - where patients sprout fur, climb furniture and favor bananas over everyday person food. Hospital Tycoon staff members have rich behaviors that players can nurture and influence throughout the game. Gamers may choose to encourage a friendship or a falling-out of sorts, and can train staff to improve their skill levels. Players are also challenged to manage and maintain each hospital, creating dedicated areas to support additional medical needs, including surgery, diagnosis, physiotherapy and more. As more patients are cured, the more players can expand their medical empire and attract new, and even more interesting patients. However, as the hospital becomes busier, players have to be on the lookout for the spread of infectious conditions or they'll soon have an epidemic running riot throughout the facility.

You start by picking a basic character model to represent yourself, and you're whisked away to fabulous Hawaii to buy a car and a house, do a lot of random racing, and drive hitchhikers and models around the island for some reason. That's about all there is to the premise. While it's not shocking that a racing game wouldn't have a major, in-depth storyline, the way the game introduces itself and the open-ended nature of the game world give you the impression that there might be some kind of plot to tie everything you do together. There isn't. The lack of a cohesive thread to the missions and races does make Test Drive seem a bit pointless, but after a while, you cease to care and find yourself oddly engaged by this scattershot series of objectives. It helps that there is quite a lot to do on the island. The objectives themselves don't extend beyond races, time trials, speed challenges, and some basic delivery missions, but there are enough of them to keep you going as you explore the massive island of Oahu.

Everything else is based on a traditional real-time format, with the only difference being that you move units in turns, of course. Money earned for completing objectives and ka-booming the enemy is used to augment preexisting bases with depots that construct all manner of military hardware, from infantry grunts, to futuristic choppers, to engineering corps who can lay down bridges. However, production is relatively sedate. Instead of rolling hordes of troops and tanks off of production lines, fairly tight monetary limits force you to be cautious about what you're sending into the field. The pace of combat is also fairly measured. It can take a number of turns just to take out an infantry company, so there are no battles of attrition here. Yet at the same time, battles don't drag. For want of a better description, they feel right, with units that take appropriate amounts of damage before going down. Missions can stretch to an hour or so, although they generally move along quite quickly, which makes this one of the zippiest turn-based games you'll ever play.

PSP - Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing

In total, there are approximately 30 different cars to collect. They look like 3D renditions of actual Hot Wheels toys, and you can change their paint schemes and decals to some extent. During the race, it's sweet to watch flames shoot out of your car's engine and sparks fly whenever you nudge a rail or another car. The courses also feature a good variety of animated touches, such as prehistoric birds, steaming lava beds, and falling rocks. Unfortunately, aside from the jump ramps and falling rocks, the courses aren't actually all that interesting. The textures are simple and muddy, and there aren't many identifiable landmarks along the raceways. As for the audio, it gets the job done without much fanfare. You won't remember the engine noises, metallic crunch sounds, and futuristic music after you shut the system off, but they're fine otherwise.

PSP - Steel Horizon

Steel Horizon will occupy a significant amount of your time if you let it. Each of the 20 missions averages between 45 minutes to an hour, with the vast majority of that time being spent traversing the open seas, sailing a few uneventful squares at a time. It just takes too long to do anything. This is mainly because there's some kind of lag or processing delay on all of your actions, which becomes excessively irritating extremely fast. It also doesn't help that you'll be digging through a good deal of menus, as everything from moving to attacking to altering the orientation of your ship is buried somewhere. Further, instead of letting you choose the exact route you want to take with your ships, you must cycle through every feasible route on the grid to find the one you want. And even then, you can't always box around minefields without traveling a shorter distance than what you'd otherwise be capable of.

Traxxpad comes with a full library of samples and even lets you record your own, so you'll have plenty to work with when you begin laying down tracks. Creating music is a multi-step process that begins with selecting samples and laying them out note by note into a sequence or recording the notes as you play them in real-time using the PSP's buttons. Next you can use an editor to edit the notes, such as changing their pitch. Once you're satisfied with the sequences that you've created you can combine them by stringing them together and/or overlaying them. After this step, all that's left to do is to export your song to an MP3 file for you to listen to later or send to your friends.

Hot Brain is Midway's attempt to bring the minigame-style of brain training that's become somewhat common on the Nintendo DS over to Sony's PSP. The basic premise is identical: You play a limited group of brain-teasing minigames, which will apparently make you sharper and smarter. Hot Brain doesn't have a wide variety of games, and there aren't many different ways to play those games, which makes it a short-lasting experience, but at least the quality of the minigames is generally good.
