The numbers are finally in. Thanks to your participation in our Fall Festival Fundraiser we were able to raise over $6000.

Here is a simple email you can send to your family and ask for a donation as part of your students Christmas present. As you send this to family members, it would be helpful for tracking if you could list your children’s names and classroom teacher at the top of the email before you forward it. We hope this will be a way to raise some more money for our school, and just like all the fundraisers, all donations will go toward returning specialties to our great school. Thanks for supporting Freedom Academy!

Dear family and friends,

As you probably know our children attend Freedom Academy, a public charter school that we love. What you may not know is that Charter schools do not receive the same funding as neighborhood schools. Although we have a wonderful school, this last year our enrichment/specialties classes (art, music, foreign language, library, technology and physical education) had some unfortunate but deep cuts.

As a school, we’re doing all we can to Bring Specialties Back, and we would like to solicit your help, if you’re interested.

For the holidays this year, we would love you to consider a donation to our school as part of your present to our children. As a family, we have all discussed this, and we agree that the gift of education is more valuable to us than toys or trinkets.

We are not asking you to spend any more than you were planning on spending. Either donate all of it, or take a portion and donate it and buy our children a less-expensive gift this year.  The children will get recognition in their classroom noting that you have donated on their behalf to the school.  I am sure they will love to see your name in their classroom as part of their present!

Here’s how it works:

• Print off the form below (attached or download from http://pfa.cc/fundraising/donate).
• Since this is a tax free donation for you, fill in the amount you donated. Your name and address need to be on the form too, so we can get you tax deduction receipt to you.
• Be sure to include the kids names, and your relationship to them. In the classroom, your name will be listed (without any dollar amount) stating that you donated on behalf of one of our children. It will be similar to this:

So a donation, no matter the amount will get your name in each one of our kids classrooms. All donations will go toward funding the special enrichment/specialties classes we  enjoy so much at Freedom Academy!

Of course, we don’t want you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with, so please call us if you have any questions about our school’s mission and vision, our curriculum, and why a one-time or even annual gift to our school is something we really would like you to consider.

Our first “Free Dress Fundraiser Day” has been a huge success!  Final count shows that the school earned $572.28** today in donations thanks to students, parents, and anonymous donors.

The next Free Dress Fundraiser Day will be January 14th, the second Friday of the month!

The singular objective of the Freedom Academy Fundraising Committee for 2010/2011 school year is:

To raise $100k by the beginning of school (2011-2012) to bring specialties back!

This isn’t going to be an easy mountain to summit, but we know we can do it as we all–faculty, parents, administration and community–work together.  There are exciting things happening at Freedom Academy.

When is this?
Right  now, the second Friday of each month is being designated as Free Dress Fundraiser Day. It simply means that, in exchange for a minimum donation of $1.00 (that we hope your child will find a way to earn), your child can wear suitable, casual clothing to school that day (see the clothing policy for details)!

What is the money for?
Money generated from this fundraiser will go to help re-fund specialty teachers for the K-6 classes. All money will go to the school’s general fund.*
