Today it's sunny. Hail later. This is a month with an eclipse plus a CRAP angle between Mars and Jupiter this week. No easy way outs! No prisoners taken! I have been musing lately about how, if you look at prehistory, astrology was THE only science. Math, biology, health and medicine, psychology, the works. What's interesting is that, of my astrological tarot reading clients (I read at Roots Natural Foods in Leominster once a month or so), at least half are from the medical profession. So these are the folks thatreally know that science is not sufficient. I love science. Majored in geology at Boston University. Still love it. Live on a pluton, actually. What's YOUR favorite science?

My last entry was two months ago, unbelievable. And a LOT has happened. To move backwards in time....Our daughter will be 4 weeks old on Sunday, and we are in major crazymode w/hours and nursing and notsleeping and all that. We had a great birth experience (no meds! no nothin! brilliant doula!) but my last trimester I caught every bug going. This is what comes from volunteering in one's small son's kindergarten class. I got sick and sicker and tireder and on week 37 was diagnosed with bronchitis, which is brutal and which took 2 rounds of antibiotics to cure...That took us to week 39, at which point early labor was the story, not to mention complete reluctance to venture into the world. The good news is that as soon as I gave birth my health kicked back in, and all's well again. So a lot of you have responded to queries for cuspies and I will be getting to these as soon as I finish the May Sun signs. The other good news is that I actually wrote a week of moon signs WHILE IN LABOR which means I'm either crazy or tougher than I thought despite all the flubugs. So thanks for checking in. I'll be back...

We were nearly 12 days without electricity (heat, lights, hot water, the fun stuff) and only got internet connection back last week. Nearly 3 weeks without. I'm on book deadline, but here's a note from a reader. Someone else wrote me before the disaster, but that's lost. Sorry. I don't recommend life without being able to turn on the lights but I can tell you that you can read somewhat comfortably with seven candles. . . . Hello Sally, I picked up my weekly boston phoenix yesterday, and then saw the title of the cover article and was like "very cool" and then saw it was by you, and it's awesome! My boss is also a Leo. Ive been working with her for a year now, and it has been a very hard year. [especially since i am doing a job that is VERY detail oriented - that's a whole different story] I can definitely see the trademarks....the growling and roaring. the demarcating of territory. The micromanagement, cos she feels noone can do a good job and she needs to do it all herself. being the sagitarrius i am, i have tried to help, and probably just threatened her and made the situation worse. In the article you did not mention much of leo's weaknesses, did I get some of them right above? My boss definitely is VERY disorganized and it affects both of our work severely. I have tried to be practical and then after being treated quite harshly, i have stepped back and tried to put up some boundaries. Any advice for those working for high-powered leo's? Congrats again on your cover article, and good luck in 2009 to you and yours (and especially for your forthcoming book!). Take care. S. Dear S. Leo can definitely be disorganized. Part of that is the fixed-sign "reactiveness" that happens. If she's disorganized absolutely DO NOT step in and help. Bosses need to figure out things for themselves. Do not anticipate, only echo. Keep records. When she decides to rewrite history, you can say, "Actually, on Tuesday, you decided we'd do it this way. I wrote myself a memo so I could follow your instructions." Leo will be under major strain this year. If there's anyone else who can be a buffer, get them to cowboy up. (Does anyone still use that?). Thanks for writing!

Not quite Camelot, but don't you feel hopeful? Despite the financial crisis and the fact that two large department stores I was in recently (a Linens and Things and some sports apparel store) were having mega-slash-discount sales and auction dates set for the store fixtures. This kind of thing is indicative of largescale shakeup. Although my husband tells me that Wal-Mart is booming (I don't shop at Wal-Mart if I can help it but use things he brings home which is standard capitalist hypocrisy I guess). But Obama. Another LEO president! Good for us.

Some of you may know my real name, and my real world elected position. Some may know me as a retired music critic, or former girlfriend to writer-types in the public eye, or producer at Night Flight, or editor of Button, New England's Tiniest Magazine of poetry, fiction, gracious living. Most people where I live know me as the mother of my son, which is absolutely perfect. Now, we are expecting another child, a babygirl and I find that my identity, as an astrologer and as someone with a public identity is shifting. It feels different to be expecting a babygirl versus babyboy and I can't quite identify what those differences are. I am assuming my daughter will have an interesting life with avid curiosity and that she will work hard to improve her community. That is my hope and that is something to strive for. As recipients of a magical unique astrological blueprint, fingermark, we always have the option of being the best of our sign. I have worked for some excellent water sign editors through my years as a journalist. I've also worked for utterly impossible, attention-deficit mis-micromanagers, and at this point in life, I am only surrounded by the former. We all have the choice to work for a career we want to have -- or we can choose not to have a career, but rather see what life serves up. Most of my clients are highly directed, emotionally responsive folks who can have a heightened sense of anticipation. The people I see who want a tarot reading, or those I speak to on the radio periodically like quirky observations ("you like to collect strange old stuff," "you're lucky and often win the raffle you enter") versus the more probing analysis. It's all good -- honest! Speaking of which, I wanted to throw a little opportunity out there. I am writing a book due well before the baby is due, but I'm working hard and would love to hear from you if you have some interesting observations about your signs. moon void-of-course in Capricorn until 7 pm (4 pm PT) when it moves into Aquarius. Like we already don't know people on the west coast always want change and the newnewnew. Given that it's Barack, in a big way, and given that the democrats will be in all likelihood gaining some real estate in the House, what do you think W is going to pull off in his lamestduck final weeks? My guess is extensive deregulation and I suspect gas prices will stay low for awhile. Outgoing presidents tend to want to burnish the legacy in their final moments and since the one thing Bush HASNT done is tinker with the judicial system in terms of pardoning felon friends, that's always a possibility. But what I really want to know is what Cheney will be doing.
