An important segment of the Provo Reservoir Canal Enclosure Project (PRCEP) is being constructed as part of Utah Department of Transportation’s (UDOT) upgrades to SR-92 in northern Utah County. The Provo Reservoir Canal (PRC) crossing of SR-92 in Lehi is being replaced with a 133-inch diameter welded steel pipe. UDOT expects to complete the southern portion of the crossing by the end of next week, at which time SR-92 traffic will be moved over to the new section to allow for excavation and pipe placement in the northern portion of the crossing. The SR-92 construction also impacts the PRC to the east of the SR-92 crossing.

At Lehi 1200 West and Lehi Center Street, pipeline crossings are also being installed and/or modified. These crossings installed as part of the SR-92 work will be incorporated into and connected to the overall Enclosure Project by the Association’s PRCEP contractor Ames Construction over the next three years. UDOT expects completion of the SR-92 project during the summer of 2011.

Association staff is working with the cities of Orem, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, Cedar Hills, Highland, American Fork and Lehi to finalize the plans and agreements for the Provo Reservoir Canal Enclosure Project and the recreational trail that will follow it. Both the Enclosure Project and the trail greatly impact these cities. The cities are excited about the prospect of this great trail and are arranging for the resources to fund and maintain the trail. The Association is also finalizing construction plans and negotiations with the Enclosure Project contractor. Work is expected to begin in earnest later this year.
