PSKoi is Growing in 2019

We are very happy to announce that we will be adding another 2,000 square foot, heated, QT facility to PSKoi. We are doing this so that we can always ensure that PSKoi customers have the healthiest Koi. We would be able to QT up to 15 breeders in separate, heated tanks so that we can do the proper testing and treating of all of the Koi we import with out mixing any of them together. The building is being made by Encore Steel Buildings and has a delivery date of about 8 weeks. There is obviously a lot of other work that will need to be done and, once we have the engineering, we will apply for the building permit and proceed as the weather allows.

Yoshimichi Sakai at Sakai Fish Farms

I met Yoshimichi Sakai at Sakai Fish Farms. I have known Yoshimichi Sakai for almost three years. He is Kentaro Sakai’s uncle and worked with Kentaro’s father, at Sakai Fish Farms, from the beginning. Yoshimichi Sakai is the one that has been breeding all of those fabulous Koi at Sakai Fish Farms. Several years ago he left Sakai Fish Farms to start his own farm. It is called Sakai Company Limited. In January, I was a judge at the All Japan Koi Show, and I flew back to Hiroshima with Shinya Umeda and Yoshimichi Sakai. We talked about the major winners in the show and Yoshimichi asked me which one I voted for. I told him I voted for the Sakai Fish Farms Kohaku which was about 90cm. He smiled and said ‘that was mine’. The pride on his face was incredible. This is one of the many Grand Champion Koi he has been responsible for. We were the first ones he has shown his new company logo to.

Takigawa Visit 2016

After we finalized the purchase with Takigawa-san we asked him had anyone else from the US ever been to this greenhouse or purchased Koi of this quality from him and he said no. We could tell, after spending over an hour in this greenhouse, that these Koi were very important to him and were part of him. He has a lot of heart.
