Prince of Persia Epilogue DLC coming late next month

A fresh bit of DLC has been announced for Prince of Persia, and it's been dubbed Prince of Persia Epilogue. As you might have guessed, it'll take place after the events of the main game, so beware that minor spoilers lie ahead. The content takes place just after the events of the main game, with the Prince and Elika tasked with escaping from an Underground Palace. Elika will get a new special power that will allow her to repair broken areas, and the Prince will get a new Sprinting Clash attack that'll let him charge up and stun enemies. The DLC will have a higher difficulty level and last about three hours. It's due to land on February the 26th.

Final Fantasy XIII trailer shows off combat system

Another trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII has landed, featuring a much anticipated look at the game's combat system, which appears to be turn based. You can take a look at it here. The good news is that it's looking a lot more cinematic than previous fighting systems, with characters ducking and weaving past enemy blows as they strike. As you might expect, the game also continues the series' high production values and graphical standards. The cutscenes look fantastic and the game character models appear to be pleasingly detailed.

Latest Resident Evil 5 viral examines psychological burden of zombie killing

Zombie killing is a hazardous occupation and the full burden of the psychological trauma it brings is examined in this latest viral ad from Capcom. I rather like them. They're surprisingly well produced and manage to bring a lot of the cheese that's something of a series trademark. We'll get the opportunity to see if the game is as good as its campaign when it arrives on the 20th of March.

With only a few big titles dropping this January, the latest UK charts tell an unsurprising story. In terms of PS3 releases, Call of Duty: World at War has nabbed second place with Wii title Wii Fit taking first. New release Skate 2 scores a very respectable second place, with FIFA '09 hanging on at 4th and The Lord of the Rings: Conquest coming in at 3rd. Tomb Raider: Underworld is also just staying in the top ten, coming in at number nine.

Mortal Kombat vs DCU sells 1.8 million, new MK in the works

Good news for Mortal Kombat fans- the latest installment, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, has sold well and another Mortal Kombat title is in development. The crossover game managed to shift about 1.8 million copies according to Midway, with Mortal Kombat co-founder Tobias Boon stating that "We're already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future."

Metal Gear Online getting Bomb Mission mode

Metal Gear Online players will be able to try out a new mode tomorrow, dubbed Bomb Mission. Players will tasked with either destroying or protecting an area of the map. You can destroy areas using timed explosives, and you'll be able to defuse the explosives with a coolant solution. As you might expect, players will also have to contend with a time limit.

Latest Riddick trailer kicks ass

It's difficult to deny that this latest trailer for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is pretty good. The original game was that rarest of things, a movie game that managed to translate the original property faithfully and make sense as a video game. The plot was unveiled using some fantastic, immersive in-game moments that never took you out of the moment. The few cutscenes present weren't obtrusive at all, and you really felt like you were playing ultimate badass Riddick. I'm looking forward to this new release on the strength of the previous property alone. It's almost enough to make you forget the rather awful second film.

New Final Fantasy XIII trailer in five days?

A Final Fantasy reveal is due to come in 5 days, according to that most trusted of internet marketing tools, the countdown clock. You can take a look at the clock yourself here. As for what the site contains, those clever bods over at FinalFantasy-XIII.net reckon that it's a flash movie. The clue's apparently found in the decompiled flash code on the site, which reveals references to "ff13-trailer-sd.flv" and "ff13-trailer-hd.flv," probably indicating that one of the trailers will be in high def.

Sony confirms UK Killzone 2 release date

Although we'd already heard rumbles of this from retailers, Sony has now officially confirmed that Killzone 2 will be arriving on the 27th of February in the UK. Other PAL regions will apparently get the game a couple of days earlier. Not entirely surprisingly, there's a special PS3 bundle due to be released alongside the game. It'll feature an 80GB PS3, alongside a copy of the game. Still no news on when we'll get to see a demo, though.

Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition coming to PS3 in March

Strategy game Red Alert 3 will be coming out for the PS3 sometime in March. From the long-running Command and Conquer series, the game sees you playing as one of three fighting factions in an alternate version of the 1950s. As promised, the PS3 version, dubbed the Ultimate Edition, will come with all sorts of Blu-ray enabled extras, including five new multiplayer maps, behind the scenes and strategy videos, the official soundtrack, and a special PS3 episode of Battlecast, Westwood's online video show covering online Command and Conquer skirmishing.

F.E.A.R. 2 demo out this Thursday

A demo of horror shooter F.E.A.R. 2 will be landing on the PSN this Thursday. The sequel takes place shortly after freaky psychic monster girl Alma lays waste to the city in part one, and will feature the prequel's slo-mo gunplay. The full game's due for release on the 13th of February.

Flower gets release date

Flower will be coming to the PSN on the 12th of February. The beautiful looking title will see you playing through the dreams of flowers stuck in a city. Using the motion controls on your pad, you'll guide petals through fields in a search for other flowers. No, really. It all looks rather wonderful, and should be a good release for those weary of having to stomp through gritty environments shooting people with guns.

IO Interactive announces Mini Ninjas

In something of a departure from their previous title Kane and Lynch, IO Interactive has announced their latest game, Mini Ninja, will be released sometime this Autumn. You'll play Hiro, a small Ninja, who is tasked with battling an army of evil Samurai with his ninja skills and magical powers.

Final Fantasy XIII won't get international release until 2010

Bad news- we're not going to see Final Fantasy XIII outside of Japan until 2010. Speaking to Reuters, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada stated that the game wouldn't be released overseas until April of 2010 or later. Bummer.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate box out on the 6th of February

That Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box that we've heard talk of recently has been dated by Criterion, with the title scheduled for release on the 6th of February. Not only will it contain all of the DLC released for the open-world racer, it'll also pack in the party pack, a pack that's slated to include pass-the-pad multiplayer challenges.

New GTA title rumoured to come out this year

The latest issue of Game Informer features a rumour that's pretty difficult to believe, namely that we're going to see another full GTA title out before the end of the year. The magazine wrote that "We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time."

Peter Molyneux likes LittleBigPlanet

Molyneux hasn't always had the nicest things to say about the PS3, but he does have a few nice things to say about platformer LittleBigPlanet. "LittleBigPlanet has outstanding creative vision," he said during a C&binet review of the British Creative Economy "It's from a British start-up studio and is one of the defining titles on Japan's Sony PS3."

Resident Evil 5 demo coming to PSN in February

Although 360 users are due to get it a week earlier, PS3 owners will have a chance to try out a demo for Resident Evil 5 come the week of February 5th. The demo will include a couple of levels from the game and will allow players to try out the much vaunted co-op mechanic, both using on splitscreen on one console and online on the PSN.

First couple of console Street Fighter IV reviews hit web

The first couple of reviews for the console version of Street Fighter IV are in, with the game getting a perfect five out of five from Official PlayStation Magazine and 95/100 from Official Xbox Magazine. Good scores so far, although it's worth waiting until a few more come in.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 dated

The sequel to Dynasty Warriors: Gundam has been dated for March 27th in Europe. The mecha centric spinoff of the mass brawler series will once again allow players to step into the iron booted mobile suits and defeat unfeasible numbers of robots using an arsenal of futuristic weaponry.

Eternal Sonata PS3 gets release date

Eternal Sonata has been given a European release date, with the Japanese RPG slated to arrive on the 13th of February. The title sees you wondering through composer's Chopin's dreams as he lies on his death bed. It was released on the 360 last year and was given a solid critical reception. The PS3 version will feature new quests, battles, and multiple endings not included in the 360 version

Mirror's Edge DLC dated

That Mirror's Edge we heard talk of last month has been dated by EA, who say that we can expect to see it on January 29th in North America. It's priced at 10 US dollars, and will feature nine races across seven completely new Time Trial maps. No confirmation yet as to whether it'll get released in the UK at the same time.

Call of Juarez prequel headed to PS3

Ubisoft has just announced that it'll publish a prequel to the 2007 Wild West FPS Call of Juarez. Dubbed Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, the game's developed by original developers Techland, and is due for release sometime in 2009. It'll apparently take in a variety of locations, from a "ravaged Civil War-era Georgia to the Aztec ruins of Mexico." The press release mentions that you'll play as the two McCall brothers so I'm guessing we'll get to play the Reverend Ray before the events of Call of Juarez.

Resistance 2/Resistance Retribution connectivity shown off at CES

We've heard of the extras that you'll be able to unlock on the PS3 and PSP copies of Resistance 2 and Resistance Retribution before, but here's a good chance to take a look at the feature firsthand. Simply plug in your PSP via USB to your PS3 and you'll be able to "infect" the PSP, infecting the main character you play with the Chimera virus and giving him new weapons, access to new areas, and a new skin. In a nice little touch, people you meet will react to your newly infected state. It's not a feature that'll make or break the game, but it looks like it could be a spot of fun for Resistance buffs. Oh, and if you really hate using the analogue nub on the PSP, you can choose to use your PS3 pads instead.

More to Killzone 2 than grey, says director

Killzone 2 will feature more colours than just grey, according to the game's director, Mathijs de Jonge. "The first images that we released were just from one level that was still in early production, and I can assure you that the final game has a very rich and varied colour palette - and still manages to maintain that gritty and realistic look and feel."
