PlayStation Store US/EU Update – February 8/9

Highlights
Pretty nice updates this week. A few games released on the store in both regions, including the likes of Explodemon!, Tales from Space: About a Blob, and the PS3 release of Plants vs Zombies. Stacking also released, and if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber (at least in the US; maybe Canada?), you get the game for free.

There is a pretty decent collection of demos as well. Undergarden, Hoard, About a Blob, Tetris, and Stacking. Personally, I want to try About a Blob, as that game looks like a lot of fun (but alas, I am still waiting to get my PS3 fixed). If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you also get access to the Killzone 3 single player demo, which goes out to the public next week (and that will automatically download if you have that feature enabled).

Blimp’s price has also gone down, so you can pick that up for pretty cheap, or you can win a download code from us. A new app, called Filmy, released in both territories as well, which allows you to watch AVCHD movies on the PS3.

For DLC, we have a few items for Test Drive Unlimited 2, which released earlier this week, as well as the standard DLC for some of the music games, etc. The new episode of Qore is available to purchase/download as well.

PlayStation Store US/EU Update – February 01/02

Highlights
First of all, these highlights are usually going to be dealing with the US/NA update and not so much on the EU update, but either usually have the same big items anyway. With that said, you can now download the Assassin’s Creed II Deluxe Edition directly to the console, and, with that, PlayStation Plus subscribers get the free 1 hour demo of the full game. If you haven’t tried any of the AC games, and have PS+, I think it’s definitely worth a shot.

Other games that released include the UnderGarden and Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2. If you want to check out demos, there are two; Fight Night Champions and Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll. You can also pick up the import version of Capcom’s Mega Man 2.

There are a few sales going on, especially Blue Toad Murder Files. If you haven’t picked that up, you can get it for about $10 off now.

As far as DLC goes, there isn’t anything noteworthy, apart from maybe ModNation Racer’s Helghast mod and kart and the Clash’s London Calling for Rock Band 3 if you’re into that kind of music. There are also a couple dynamic themes (Billowing Clouds sounds like it might be pretty cool), as well as a few that are new to Canada as well.

PlayStation Store US/EU Update for January 25/26

Highlights
Kind of a small update this week. To start things off, if you’re looking for sales on a few highly rated PSN titles, we reported about the 11 for ’11 sale yesterday, which has started today. Get them at half price while the sale lasts! Also on sale is the Super Complete Alt. Costume pack for SSFIV; Top Gun also receives a permanent price drop today as well.

Now, Dead Space Extraction is available for purchase on the PSN as well. It’s basically an on-rails shooter that first appeared on the Wii. I thought the game was pretty cool for what it’s worth; graphics are now in HD, but the game doesn’t have that current-gen look like Dead Space 2 has, but it’s neat that we have it available for the PS3 anyway.

If you are unsure about getting it, you can also pick up the demo to give you a basic idea of the gameplay. While there, the Bulletstorm demo is available for download as well, but keep in mind it’s a single player only demo; you can play it to try to win one of two prizes, though! Just read Oly’s preceding post on that giveaway.

If you’re looking for spicing up your PSN profile, there are a bunch of new avatars to purchase as well (which you can preview in Luke’s post here). There are 40 in all, including some from RDR, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and GTAIV.

Other than that, not much else. If you’re into some of David Bowie’s stuff, there is a pack you can get for Rock Band 3. I like a couple of the songs there myself .

PlayStation Store US/EU Update for January 18/19

Highlights
It’s been a heck of a while since we last did one of these properly. With that said, I have decided to drop the HK and JP stores and focus mainly on the US and EU updates. I’ve also overhauled the appearance of the posts, including small banners similar to the Weekly Recap.

This is no longer a cut and paste job like we used to do in the past. After all, the source we used to use changed their layout on both regions, with completely different looks and I wanted something more organized.

Anyway, what are the highlights this week? Well, in the US, Mass Effect 2 is available for download. If you’ve never played the first one, if ME2 is anything like it, you’re in for a treat. I just wish I had a working PS3 at the moment . Modern Combat: Domination and Spare parts is available for download as well.

If you like sales, the EU store has a bunch of them. The US has a couple as well, but not on the sale of the other one. If you’re into DLC, Mass Effect has a collection of that, which consists of the DLC not included in the game. Other than that, it’s just your standard fare of content, but I will say the EU’s Leviathan dynamic themes sound pretty neat…
