Carriages at 1am. Black tie is optional. If you require any further information please contact Sara Hicken on 01789 730952.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2&gt;&lt;b&gt;BAG 2 SCHOOL: &lt;u&gt;*PLEASE NOTE DATE ON BAG IS WRONG- CORRECT DATE IS WED 25&lt;sup&gt;TH&lt;/sup&gt; NOV.&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;You should have received your bag to fill last Friday. If you require more bags please ask the school office or use black refuse sacks. All clothing collected by Bag2School is sold to importers and wholesalers in many countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia. 80 % of discarded clothing goes for reuse as clothes and the other 20 % enters the recycling industry. Bag2School is a good way to dispose of unwanted clothing, raise money for your school. &lt;b&gt;We get paid by the weight- £400 per tonne!&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Bag2School is interested in collecting quality second hand ladies’, men’s and children`s clothing, as well as bedding, curtains, soft toys, shoes, belts and handbags. Please have a pre-Christmas clear out and fill your bag, then bring it to the top of Breach Lane where it meets Langley Road from 8am on 25&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; November.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Christmas Fun Fridays &amp;amp; Children In Need.&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Thank you to Reception for this afternoons Fun Friday. We will let you know how much they have raised next week. Next week is Year 1’s turn. Please note all proceeds from next week’s sale will be donated to Children in Need. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Claverdon Church Christmas Fete.&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;This is on Saturday 28&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; November at the Church Centre. Your PTA will be hosting a Rock Stall selling crystals, rocks, minerals and even sharks teeth! Please put this date in your diary and come along to support us.&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Christmas Production Support. &lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;This year, in the same way as previous years, we will be selling refreshments at our Christmas Productions. If you are able to assist us with this please let a committee member know as soon as possible. Productions are on 8&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; &amp;amp; 9&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; December with the infant’s performance at 1.45pm, junior’s at 7pm.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;The Giving Machine&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;On our school website there is a link to &lt;a href="http://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/"&gt;www.thegivingmachine.co.uk&lt;/a&gt;. Every time you shop at the 200+ shops they give us, your PTA commission (up to 50%). It is money for us with no inconvenience to you. Tickets are £25 each and include arrival drink, dinner and a disco. Dress to impress, black tie is optional.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;**NON-UNIFORM DAY** Friday 13&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; November. &lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Mrs Gover has kindly agreed that our children may attend school in non-uniform on this day in return for donating an item (or items) for our Christmas Hampers. Usual items are food/ drinks to be included in our festive hampers. We will shortly let you know how much money we raised by hosting the evening.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Ardencote Dinner Dance 14&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; November 2009&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;h4&gt;DON’T FORGET TO BUY YOUR TICKETS AFTER HALF TERM!&lt;/h4&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Tickets are now available by completing the attached slip and returning it to the office or from a committee member. Tickets are £25 each and include arrival drink, dinner and a disco hosted. This promises to be a fantastic night out so please come along and enjoy yourself whilst supporting your school.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Voucher Schemes&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt; &lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Currently we are collecting the following vouchers- collection boxes are situated opposite the library in school or there is box at the Community Shop&lt;b&gt;.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h4&gt;Morrisons Let’s Grow ’09 scheme&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt; &lt;/h4&gt;  &lt;p&gt;A huge range of gardening items are available via collecting tokens for purchases in excess of £10 e.g. garden tools, compost, seeds, even sheds!&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Tokens will be issued until 01/11/2009 and school needs to receive all tokens by &lt;u&gt;13 November&lt;/u&gt; to be able to make the order deadline.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h4&gt;Books for Schools&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/h4&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The Times is running a scheme whereby vouchers from various Times papers can be redeemed for books for the school. Please look out for these and cut them out. Vouchers will be issued until 6 December this year. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h4&gt;Nestle Box Tops for Books&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/h4&gt;  &lt;p&gt;We can obtain good quality Dorling Kindersley books for the school by collecting Nestle cereal box tops. This scheme is ongoing until next March so please don’t forget to cut the voucher off the top of nestle cereal boxes and bring them to school by 12 March 2010.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Parental Questionnaires&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Hopefully everyone received a parental questionnaire with last week’s newsletter. If you did not receive one please ask at the school office for a copy of it. Please try and spend five minutes over the half term break to complete this for us. Thanks to Clare for arranging this event – we may do this again later on in the year. Apologies to Russell &lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;J&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING &lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Thanks to Louise and Clare for helping me with the serving of cakes and drinks. The two events combined raised a total of £65.15. So thanks to everyone who supplied cakes or bought them. I will be forwarding the money on to the charity this week.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;QUIZ NIGHT with FISH &amp;amp; CHIPS – 16&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; October &lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;This will be held at the Dorothea Mitchell Hall on 16&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; October, 7.30-11.00pm. We have changed the venue this year so that we can have more people at the event. This is a fantastic fun night for the adults and Mr. Phil Upton is a great Quiz Master. So please come along. You will need to buy tickets from members of the PTA of through a reply slip to the school office. Tickets are £7.50 each and includes your supper! Bring your own drinks and glasses…&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;XMAS ADULT DANCE – 14&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; November&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Tickets are on sale this week, we have had a good response –and already numbers are around 40 people! If you want to secure your tickets early you can do by cheque. These will not be presented until November.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;NOTICEBOARD&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;We are currently looking at getting a PTA notice board mounted on the brick wall inside the school gates. We will be running through funding requests and the schedule of fun activities that we are proposing for this school year! Parental support is vital. We are on the look-out for new helpers and the odd vice-chair so don’t be shy. We will send out the timetable once agreed in next week’s newsletter.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Year Reps&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Each class has contacts who arrange social events amongst the parents and also assist with fundraising activities. So why not stay after the assembly for some refreshments and help raise some money for a worthwhile charity. &lt;u&gt;Any donations of&lt;/u&gt; &lt;u&gt;cakes and biscuits and help would be much appreciated. Please drop them in to the school &lt;/u&gt;office on Friday &lt;u&gt;morning&lt;/u&gt;. If you cannot attend we will also be holding an extra TREAT FRIDAY and monies raised will go to the charity. Your tickets will then be sent home with your child. Tickets are selling fast so don’t leave it too late! Tickets will not be available on the door. Items including part of a playground trim trail have now been ordered and our children will have the benefit of these from September.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;SEPTEMBER – SAVE THESE DATES IN YOUR DIARY&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;21.09- 7.30pm- PTA Meeting at the Crown&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;27.09- 5-7pm- Family Bingo Evening at the Church Centre. Thank you to Becky for all her hard work over the past year. It was thanks to Becky that the drainage on our field is working well and our school has outside lighting for Clover Club/ after school activities. A letter from Sara is attached for you all to read.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Year 2 Rep&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;With Sara taking over as Chair there is a vacancy for a new year 2 rep. Please speak to Sara if you are willing to assist. The year reps do not have to attend every meeting but are simply a point of contact between the PTA and parents. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Fun Fridays&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;Last week Year 2 &amp;amp; Year 4 raised £62.22. Thank you.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Bags2school&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;Thank you to everyone, our recent collection raised £186.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;100 Club&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;First prize (£44.25) for June went to J. Hills. Second prize (£14.75) for June went to KS Williams. The final sums will be in excess of these amounts as match funding and gift aid have yet to be claimed. I am Sara Hicken, mother of Kaitlin Year 2 and Helena Year R, and Harry 13 months old. I am taking over from Becky Muller, who has done such a fantastic job and would like to thank her for all her hard work and continued support on the PTA and helping in the classroom.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I want to give you an update of the PTA meeting held this week. It was a very useful meeting and there is a lot to action! &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The Parent Governors wish to have better open channels of communication between the Governors, parents, teachers, PTA. They will be informing us all at the next meeting how this can be achieved.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;We spent time on the PTA constitution; this is the document that gives us guidelines of how we run the PTA committee. We are working on a mission statement which will give us a clear direction of what we actually want to achieve over the next PTA year.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;As informed in a recent newsletter, we discussed how the PTA is going to spend the £10,000 of money raised to date. We have agreed to spend £5000 towards the cost of the renovation of the Jnr toilets and the ones that are within the classrooms of Yr 3, this work should be completed by the end of this calendar year! This is great news and I am sure that children and parents will be really pleased.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The following items have also been suggested and will be voted upon next meeting, before the end of term.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;ul&gt;   &lt;li&gt;ICT Visualisers – Similar to OHP but for Interactive boards @ £300.00 each x 6 &lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;Activate Programme – Helping to stimulate children’s brains before lessons with the use of music and P.E. – brain training £2000 &lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;Some fantastic play equipment, Giant Musical Instruments to form an outside trim trail overall cost would be approximately £5000 although part of this cost can be met by using the sports vouchers collected. &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Some fab ideas!!!&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;So if you think that one of the above is more worthwhile than another.... come along to the next PTA meeting! Thank you for all those people who helped out and all who purchased a cake.  &lt;p&gt;The total raised will be published next term once figures have been finalised&lt;b&gt;. &lt;/b&gt;In the meantime, even if you have forgotten to hand your Fun Run sponsorship money into the office, don’t worry we will still collect it from the office in the first week we return after half term. &lt;/p&gt; Stalls will open following the fun run at 1pm.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;We are particularly looking for helpers to:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;ul&gt;   &lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;be a Marshall&lt;/b&gt; for the Fun Run&lt;font color="#ffffff"&gt;.&lt;/font&gt;       &lt;br /&gt;Same route as in previous years along Langley Road, looping around the School along the Public access footpath into Breach Lane and back to School. We need people to guide and help runners along the route. Due to some clever negotiating on our part we managed to persuade the Council that they should fund this.  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;PTA Meeting After Family Assembly in the Staff Room March 27th&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Please come along and give us your support. Everyone is welcome.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Spring Fair&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;This will take place on 16&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; May. The response to our request for helpers has been fantastic but this year we would love to make sure that everyone running a stall also gets a chance to enjoy the fair with their children themselves. To make this happen we still need more helpers – whether you can help set up / man a stall for an hour / help clear up please let one of the PTA committee know.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Gazebo Appeal!&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;We are asking now for the fair. We need as many gazebo’s as possible to ensure that if it rains we have it covered. Please let one of the Committee members know if you are willing to let us borrow your gazebo for the afternoon.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Phones 4 School&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Thank you so much to everyone who collected phones -in total we collected 115 phones. We need to reach 200 phones to receive a £300 cheque so it is our intention to run this again in September … so don’t throw any phones out as they could earn you a prize and your school money!&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Tesco Vouchers&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Under the Tesco voucher scheme we can exchange used printer toners/ cartridges for extra vouchers. So please bring your used cartridges into school - ask at work if you can have theirs too. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Nestlé Cereal Tokens&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;We are collecting these so please remember to keep them off the top of your cereal box and bring them into school.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;h2 class="sedh2"&gt;Ruth’s Memorial Garden&lt;/h2&gt;  &lt;p&gt;This is in need of a good tidy up!
