<title>Personal Telco Project Monthly Meeting June 2006 </title>
<link>http://www.personaltelco.net/download/av/meetings/2006-june.mp3</link>
<description>
 * RussellSenior delivers tedious PTP Civics lesson.
 * RussellSenior is nominated for secretary. Gave a video presentation featuring an unmanned rocket blowing up. This is his metaphor for PTP without his leadership.
 * TroyJaqua is not here, but he is nominated for treasurer again.
 * Node updates:
   * NodeRedandBlack has been resurrected. It was a node, but then it was disconnected, but it is now a node again. Much thanks to Brian from CorporateBig. DonPark recommends that weekly meetings be held at broken nodes so that we can fix them while gabbing about Wifi.
   * Fixing broken nodes is good, but we don't seem to get much done in the way of discussion and planning... -CalebPhillip
  * OSCON is July 26th on
   * We have a table and one full pass that we can pass around between folks who work the table.
   * There are usually many parties with hosted bars if you come to the Exhibit Hall and get invited by the hosts.
   * Exhibit Hall is free (with your e-mail address), conference pass is around $1000.
 * Education Committee. CalebPhillips is assuming the education role. MichaelWeinberg suggests KeeganQuinn for the position, for a more *colorful* education effort. DonPark would like us to have an education document that we can give to node hosts to help them learn and manage their own nodes.
 * MississippiGrantProject updates:
 * RussellSenior later finds his missing ethernet cable. CalebPhillips was innocent.
 * NAYA based Cisco is back online.
 * The Black Rose Collective still has a 1.5M circuit that wants to be tied into the Mississippi Network.
 * More info can be found at http://wiki.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MeetingJune2006

<title>Personal Telco Project Monthly Meeting March 2006 </title>
<link>http://www.personaltelco.net/download/av/meetings/2006-march.mp3</link>
<description>Meeting started at 6:42pm
DonPark started off with a handout on building point-to-point networks, using the ArborLodge mesh as an example.
MichaelWeinberg gave a status report on Mississippi.
* Described the local content system recently configured on chevy: Drupal
* Sam Churchill asked if the HMCN Drupal page was linked off the splash page. He also asked about interfacing into a AJAX/Dynamic map program.
* Tom asked what the actual education plan for the Mississippi project was. Mike said that they were delaying the education due to lack of coverage of the access points. He wanted more APs up before the education process started.
* RussellSenior presented graphs from Cacti for the Mississippi project system (see MississippiNetworkMonitoring)
* Showed effect of a power outage on Tuesday
* Discussed uptime problems with the metrix boxes (kernel panics in madwifi-ng)
* Russell also passed a Netgear "widget" (WGT634U) around, used for both a MississippiNetworkRepeater (have one in the field, will be installing another one at Amnesia Brewing), and ...
RussellSenior talked a little about the WGT Stumbler (thanks to JasonMcArthur), a NetgearWgt634u with attached USB1 hub, USB GPS and USB storage. Tried to show some maps, mentioned [http://www.WiGLE.net/]
 * Tim and Sam started talking about WiFi location software. Sam mentioned Loki.
 DonPark announced the appointment of RussellSenior to act as PTP Secretary until the end of the current term, July-ish this year.

<link>http://www.archive.org/download/PersonalTelcoProjectSeptember2005Meeting/PTPSept282005b.mp3</link>
<description>Given the length of the meeting tonight I am letting the audio play out over 2 files. Its a long one but a good one.
Part 2 includes another great talk about a city run network, this time it is the city of Sandy Oregon's SandyNet and the speaker is Scott Brown. Scott goes into the highs and low of running SandyNet and answers questions from the crowd. We cap things off with some reports on PTP projects and get our first report from the PTP's new Treasurer. Who is it? You will have to tune in to find out.

<description>Given the length of the meeting tonight I am letting the audio play out over 2 files. Its a long one but a good one.
Part 1 includes the intro, the "who is new" game, a quick look at some
node usage numbers and then the main event. Matt Lampe and Rashid Ahmed,
two of the main crafters of the City's Unwire Project, give an in-depth
look at what it is all about and then field questions from the crowd. Its
chuck full of interesting bits and a great look at just where the city is
seeming to be heading in its networking endeavors.
