"This is a project that began as a joke with my parents while having a drink on a boat on the lake on a hot summer evening. I told them that I wanted to someday/very soon own my own company and do all the design and branding for it. They decided as a joke that I should start a spring water company taken from the cabin. I said actually... That's not a bad idea. The rest remains to be accomplished beyond the branding. Hopefully in a few more weeks I will show the fam. Haha! Things are coming along."

"Black Star was looking for a logo that would express the power of a local cooperative. It had to convey a sense of authority without appearing too socialistic. The model of a co-op demonstrates the true meaning of the democratic process and Black Star wanted to exemplify this in an Austin TX kind of way. So it needed to be fresh and non-stodgy amongst the wealth of traditional visuals associated with beer culture. It needed to be fun and laid back in a serious way."
