Rodgers said on his local radio program this week that he had spoken with several SNL cast members over the weekend and hopes something can be worked out. Rodgers got rave reviews for his stint as an analyst on Superbowl Sunday and a recent study by Sports Business Daily named him as the most marketable player in the NFL.

Earlier this week, the Packers blocked a request from the Buccaneers to interview McAdoo for their offensive coordinator position.

McAdoo has spent the last six seasons with the Packers after beginning his NFL coaching career with the New Orleans Saints in 2004. McAdoo spent the 2005 season as an assistant offensive line/quality control coach with the San Francisco 49ers. In all three stops, McAdoo has coached under Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

Aaron Rodgers has won the 2011 Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award in a landslide.

Rodgers earned 48 votes to two for New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the NFL. The Packers star is the first Green Bay player honored since Brett Favre concluded a run of three straight seasons as MVP in 1997.

Rodgers led the NFL in passing with a 122.5 rating built on 45 touchdown passes, six interceptions and a 68.3 completion percentage as the Packers went 15-1 and won the NFC North.

He joins former Packers Bart Starr, Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung in being selected MVP.

Rodgers is the third consecutive quarterback voted MVP, joining New England’s Tom Brady (2007, 2010) and Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning (2008,2009).

Suave for Men® has teamed up with pro football star and self-proclaimed “guy with great hair” Clay Matthews to launch the Suave Hair Like Clay promotion, giving fans the chance to hang with the star linebacker this offseason. 2012 marks the second year of the Suave for Men partnership with Clay who is on a mission to remind guys coast to coast that men should use a men’s shampoo.

Starting today and running through February 15, fans have the opportunity to show off their best hair style mimicking Clay’s – either with their real hair or sporting a Clay-like wig – by posting their photo to @SuaveMen on Twitter and including the hashtag #hairlikeclay. One lucky fan who shows how they have Hair Like Clay will win a trip this offseason to hang out with him thanks to Suave for Men.

“All men can’t have football greatness like Clay, but they can have hair greatness with Suave for Men,” said David Rubin, Unilever Marketing Director, Hair, U.S. “Clay is a great fit for our Suave Men’s line and with #hairlikeclay we’re giving fans the opportunity to show off their hair greatness for the exciting opportunity to meet Clay in person.”

The Hair Like Clay promotion comes on the heels of a one-year extension of Clay’s agreement with Suave for Men where he will continue to encourage men to use a men’s shampoo in brand marketing activities throughout the year. In 2011, Suave for Men partnered Clay with his younger brother, Casey Matthews, to showcase their unique brotherly-rivalry in the “Matthews vs. Matthews” video series, available online at YouTube.com/SuaveforMen.

Quarterback Matt Flynn is unlikely to get the Packers franchise tag and be traded according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Silverstein has calulated the Packers would have to fit in the $14 million one-year tender for Flynn by releasing players.

For all those who think the Packers can put a franchise tag on QB Matt Flynn and then trade him, consider that the Packers would have to fit in the $14 million one-year tender by releasing players.

They also would need to have a deal in place with Finley so that he could not walk away an unrestricted free agent. So, to do the Flynn maneuver, they’d have to sign Finley (and the others) AND find a way to clear $10 million to $14 million off their cap.

It’s not going to happen.

Putting the franchise tag on Finley, however, is not a problem. The franchise number for tight ends is expected to drop from $7.3 million in 2011 to about $5.5 million due to the change in how the figure is calculated under the new collective bargaining agreement.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers blasted the effort of some of his NFC teammates on his weekly radio show on ESPN 540 by way of Kevin Seifter of ESPN.com.

“I’ll be honest with you,” Rodgers said. “I was a little bit disappointed. I felt like some of the guys on the NFC side embarrassed themselves.”

“Just like I did in 2010, I took a lot of pride in the way I played,” Rodgers said. “I wanted to make sure I knew the plays. It was our [Packers coaching] staff, which helped out a little bit, but I wanted to know the plays and I wanted to play well, and I wanted to give the fans a show, and make the Green Bay fans who watched and were watching for me and my teammates, I wanted to make them proud of their Pro Bowlers. I was just surprised that some of the guys either didn’t want to play or when they were in there didn’t put any effort into it.”

“Overall, I was just disappointed by the lack of pride by some of the players that played in the game.”

Aaron Rodgers thinks the idea of backup quarterback Matt Flynn going to join Joe Philbin in Miami seems to make sense.

Rodgers on Wednesday told a Milwaukee radio station he sees the Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks as the “two top dogs” in the race for the talented backup, expected to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

This is based on a conversation with Flynn “in the last few days,” Rodgers said of his backup quarterback in Green Bay the past four years.

“I think with a talent like Matt, he would have success in just about any offense you plug him into,” Rodgers said. “I think you could see maybe a little bit more immediate success in an offense he’s very familiar with, so I think you have to look at Miami, obviously.”

As for the Seahawks, their general manager John Schneider knows Flynn from his time in Green Bay.

“John Schneider knows Matt and he’s pulling some strings up there with them,” Rodgers said. “I think that would be an opportunity for him up there. Those are probably, in my opinion, the two top dogs that would go after him. There’s got to be at least five or six teams who legitimately should take a look at Matt and see him being an immediate improvement over what they have at quarterback.”

The Packers have signed Arena Football League quarterback Nick Hill, a source confirmed today, Hill first announced the signing on his Facebook page. Hill most recently was playing quarterback for the Tampa Bay Storm of the of the AFL, and for the two seasons before this year he played for the AFL franchise in Orlando. He played in college at Southern Illinois, where he was a two-year starter.

He failed to make the Chicago Bears after going undrafted in 2008 and played in af2 for two years before moving up to Orlando. The Packers are anticipating losing backup quarterback Matt Flynn in free agency this offseason, and their only other backup is Graham Harrell.
