Print design of a policy document for the New York branch of Appleseed, a non-profit public interest legal organization. The brief for this project included a very specific color palette and set of desired typefaces. Through the clean expanses of white space and use of some subtle peripheral abstraction, i was able to maintain the organizations branding, while creating a fresher and more contemporary feel.

Things moving along well here, you may have noticed some changes around the site, here’s what i have been up to: my portfolio book is now up for sale on Blurb.com. It is a fairly comprehensive survey of my work up to today, including design, art, and photography pieces spread over 120 pages. Additional photos of the book itself can be seen by clicking the ‘Portfolio Book Available!’ tab above. I also have now up on the site my reel for 2009. Warm Weather, Big Changes

So life has been a complete whirlwind this past month…First off, in personal news; i recently got married! My lovely new wife and i are still unpacking a few boxes, but we are settling in nicely into our nest = )

In more art/design related news, the F5 Conference in New York last month was a profound experience. I found myself amazed by the level of talent that is out there and the work that is being created by people from all over the world. Some unexpected favorites of mine were The Black Heart Gang/Shy the Sun and 1st Ave Machine - some of the most beautiful motion graphics i have ever seen. All in all the conference gave me very much a sense of validation and drive in that there are people out there whose work mirrors my own direction and the things they are doing are off the charts…something to work towards…

In the midst of wedding planning, im heading out to New York this week to attend the F5 Conference. Some really impressive and influential minds will be there, including some of my personal favorites; Moment Factory (who did the amazing visuals for the Lights in the Sky Tour), Jonah Lehrer from SEED, ARG mastermind Elan Lee, and of course the awesome Rachel Maddow.

I will try to tweet through the festivities to keep you all up to date, however, attending alone, I have no excuse but to try to meet these people and absorb all the awesomeness that oozes out of their brains….So tweets may be few and far in between, not that my twitter activity since inauguration has been anything but flatline = )

I am heading to Washington DC this weekend for the Inauguration and will be broadcasting text and photo updates via twitter (username: P_Driscoll) throughout the Inaugural weekend as well as on the npr.org supported Inauguration Report. Special thanks to NPR, CBS News and American University for putting this all together - this is a really cool idea (in spite of the telecommunications overload that will result = P). These news services will be relaying the information that comes in through these tools and highlighting some of the interesting stories, so keep your ear to the media this holiday weekend! Hope everyone is doing well out there in the land of the internets. My, it has been a long time since i posted any news…well first off, i think at long last all the cosmetic changes to padraicdriscoll.com are complete, which is good because i will be having some cool new video and digital based works to share with you this winter as i try to stay warm in the glow of my monitor. So over time this winter there will be some new things arriving here periodically, subscribe to my rss feeds to be notified when anything new is up.

One final note: in spite of everything going on in the world, i hope you all are able to find a litle bit of peace these winter months. we all need it = )
