This original landscape painting is from a scene behind The Inn on Pamlico Sound in Buxton, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The cool month I was there brought clear skies and bright light to the trees. I took several photographs of the area and completed the painting back in the studio. I've done different versions of this particular view.

Years ago I was on a ferry somewhere off Hatteras Island (I think I was leaving Ocracoke) and saw this "cliff." The light on it was beautiful and, while I think it was man-made, it reminded me of an original seascape painting Monet would have painted. It's taken me years to finally make this first attempt at capturing the beauty of the scene on canvas.
