It's been a while, a long while since I have graced this blog with my presence. But sometimes you just need a break from blogging (I secretly hate when people say that, but it's true).

This whole wedding planning/engagement process has taken a lot more out of me than I thought it would, to be perfectly honest. This stuff is hard work! And not just deciding what color napkins to choose, or wether to serve chicken or fish for dinner, but your relationship takes on a whole new meaning. And I have definitely felt the pressure increase.

This weekend was a great change of pace from the planning process. Sometimes you just need your girlfriends. Since mine all live far away, it was like a breath of fresh air to have them here. I could seriously not ask for better friends. These girls know me to a T, they planned the most amazing shower, and were sure to keep my glass of champagne full all day long.

Here is what I have been up to the past week...well a little more than this, but this is what I had time to document via Instagram. Life has been a little crazy with the 8 weddings we are attending this summer, one of which I am in. As you can see I have been preparing for a bachelorette party, and the bottom right pic shows the finished favors for the party, woohoo! Last weekend C and I headed up to my parents to make homemade sushi! It was delicious. Here is a tutorial if you have never attempted. Sorry I have been so MIA but enjoy the pics and have a great weekend!

Happy Monday! Here are a few pics from our weekend in San Fran. We had a wedding to attend (#2 of 6 we have this summer), but it was also PRIDE weekend so that was an experience as well!

I have actually been in a surprisingly good mood this morning because I am starting the first day of my new job! We also had an amazing weekend so that helps, here is a brief recap:

C's parents came to visit and stayed with my parents (which always feels just a little bit stressful) but we actually had such a great time.

Happy Monday! Is anyone else feeling super sleepy and unprepared for this week, or is that just me? Sorry I have been so MIA for the past couple of weeks but there has been A LOT going on around here! For one I just received a promotion! woohoo! but this also means I will be taking on a lot more responsibility (which I am really excited about) but this is leaving a little less time for blogging. Hawaiian Pineapple Martini

This Memorial day C and I spent the day laying by the pool and BBQ-ing up at my parents house. My mom made these delicious cocktails to mimic a drink they had on their recent trip to Hawaii at Roy's Restaurant. It was so delicious I had to share!

Yield: approximately 12 (4-ounce) servings

4.5 cups Vodka

1.5 cups Malibu Rum

3/4 cup Vanilla Vodka

1 pineapple cut into 1/2-inch thick wedges

1/4 cup sugar

Layer the pineapple wedges into the jar. Pour in the remaining ingredients and allow to sit in the fridge for 1-2 days. To serve, ladle approximately 4 ounces of the liquor into a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Shake and strain into glass. Finish with a few pineapple chunks and enjoy!

Running Essentials

I recently signed up for a half marathon for this October called the City to Sea. I have just started training, which is going to be a looonnngg process, but I wanted to share a few of the things that are helping me get through my runs.

Polar heart rate monitor. This helps me track my heart rate as well as calories burned and keeps track of how long I have been huffing and puffing. It is a little more accurate than using an app on your phone. Although, I also still use this as well:

This is an amazing tool that does so many things, and is free! I mostly use it for tracking mileage, but it also gives you updates through your headphones at every mile. love it!

My Lulu Lemon crops. C got me a new pair for my b day, and I have another pair that I live in as well. At first it was hard to justify spending this much on workout clothes, but trust me, buy one item and you will be hooked.

A hat to keep my face from getting burned! It is starting to warm up here and I need all the protection I can get.

Loving these Dri-Fit Nike tops as well, they keep you nice and cool when you are sweating up a storm-they also are very flattering.

What I am in the market for are new running shoes and I could use your input! All you marathoners and half-marathoners, which are your favorite? I have tried Asics, Saucony and Nike in the past but I would love to hear your comments.

Weekend Wrap up

This weekend C threw me a little B day party, and even made me a cake! I was so impressed. My best friend even came from San Jose to celebrate and we had such a great time. Here is a little video and a couple pics from the night.

After 12 hours in the airport yesterday I am finally home! Delayed flights are not my friend, and I might have cried to the customer service representative when she told me that I would have to spend the night in the DC airport-thank goodness that didn't happen.

Anyways, today is my big 2-5 so I'm looking forward to celebrating with the bf as long as this jet lag doesn't get to me first. Have a great day loves!

Weekend Getaway!

I finished packing last night after a couple glasses of wine and decided to use the big suit case. Yes...I am only going for two days, but I didn't feel like making outfit choices, so this is what happened. I am heading to San Jose for some time with my best girl friends and cannot wait! I need them in my life after this long week! So far we have waxing appointments and spray tans planned-sounds so girly, but I'm excited (and very much in need). The rest of the weekend will be spent wine drinking, eating, and maybe some hot tubbing? I'll be sure to Instagram all weekend so if you want to follow me-go right ahead! @haleykbee

I decided on a crazy whim to sign up for the local 5k this weekend after I completed a 4 mile run on Thursday (I haven't run that far in ages). I went on my lunch on Friday for late registration and braved the crowds to pay my 40$. Sad story-my friend and I both signed up and thought the race was on Sunday and it was really on Saturday... so we missed it. I was so upset! At least my money went to a good cause, right? There were a bunch of different groups that were being supported by the funds generated, including special Olympics.

Talk about feeling stupid...So to make up for it I ran my 3.1 alongside the marathon route this morning. I hope you all have a great week!

How is your mid-week going? I am so proud that I have posted three blogs this week! I have finally had some time to catch up on "me time" and I am loving it.

Wrapping Things Up

Thanks for your sweet words yesterday they really meant a lot. We had a pretty bad scare yesterday with my papa but he is doing a little bit better today so thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Here is a recap of the weekend!

I hope your week is going well so far. I wanted to give an update from this post with the Kate Somerville serum. It had great reviews but I tried it and it was an epic fail-I completely broke out. Thank goodness that Sephora does returns after you have tried the product, because it was not cheap! My sensitive skin just can't catch a break!

So I talked to a few of my friends and purchased this:

I am in love. I wear it under my bare minerals and it is beyond amazing. It gives a slight tint so you can wear it alone and it also has anti aging properties as well as SPF 35. No, I am not getting money to write this, I just wanted to share because I have been searching for something like this for so long!

I also purchased this moisturizer and am loving it as well. I got the tip from my friend S when I was visiting this weekend and just can't get enough of the Estee products now. Plus, since I bought everything at Nordstrom, there is a free gift included worth $120. Check it out!

Monday, Monday.

I had my normal Instagram post planned for today but I think I'll save it for tomorrow. I generally try to keep an upbeat vibe here on my blog, but there have been a lot of things going on in the past few weeks that have just been really hard on me. So with the blogosphere being such an amazingly caring group of people I need to do some unloading.

Right now my biggest struggle is that my papa (grandfather) is back in the hospital and not doing well. The really hard part is that he is all the way in Arkansas and I am stuck here in Cali. He had a routine hip surgery but it seems that he had an adverse reaction to the drugs that were administered for his recovery, and now the doctors are suspecting heart trouble. I am so fearful of losing him, and have been debating catching a flight to Arkansas multiple times this week when things started to get bad. I'm feeling overwhelmed and helpless-and just continually praying that God keeps him around a little while longer. I can't imagine him not being around especially someday for my wedding-so I'm just not going to go there yet.

So, prayers and happy thoughts sent his way are much appreciated and needed. I am trying to keep a peaceful spirit for him and my grandma (because she is all alone taking care of him) but the distance makes it really hard.

Also, two weeks ago one of my closest friends lost her mother very suddenly. It has been awful and incredibly hard on her and I still have a really hard time even thinking about what she is going through. I am trying to be there for her as much as I can, but once again she doesn't live close and it leaves me feeling helpless and just WAY too far away. She has dealt with it with so much strength and grace and I am incredibly in awe of her.

Luckily I was able to visit one of my best friends this weekend for some wine and retail therapy.

How was your Easter weekend? We headed to LA for the weekend to spend the holiday with C's fam. It was a lot of fun, they even did an easter egg hunt with money filled eggs which made it a little more exciting for the older "kids." As I am coming up on my big quarter century birthday next month I wanted to purchase something preventative. Has anyone tried this? I am wondering if I jumped the gun with this product, and if my money would be better spent elsewhere...it wasn't cheap!

As far as facial cleansers and lotions, what do you recommend? I am currently using these products:

I have slightly acne prone skin(hormonal), and my skin is super sensitive. I like these products but I am wondering if there is something better out there. I have been using the Clarisonic face cleanser(which I love):
