Recently my friend bought a new laptop ,but it was stolen within few days .The good thing is that we have successfully recovered stolen laptop as i had installed a tracing software on his laptop and he had no troubles finding it.This can happen to anyone which is using the laptop or cellphone and having a tracing software installed on his laptop .

How it works

Basically you install a tiny agent in your PC or phone, which silently waits for a remote signal to wake up and work its magic.

Gladly, there are ways to enhance your Facebook search experience and do it like a pro. Here are some great tips and tricks to get you started:

1. How to search for people on Facebook easily:

Firstly, if you are searching for a person, start your search with user: or people: or name:. These tags tell Facebook that you are only looking for a person and are not interested in groups or applications. You can narrow down these searches by appending the age range and company name.
For example we want to look for a person called Tim who is somewhere between 20 and 23 and works for Apple. We would enter the search query:
user: Tim y1: 20 y2: 23 company: apple

2. Search Multiple terms at a time:

You can combine two search terms by adding the | sign between the terms. For example, you want to search for people who are named Tim Johnson as well as people who are named Michael Jordan. You will enter the search query as:
Tim Johnson | Michael Jordon
Simlarly You can also search Facebook for two, three, four, or more things at once by adding the “|” sign (minus the quotation marks) between the terms.

3. Narrow down your search:

If you can’t remember all these tags, simply enter the keyword in the search box and once you have the results, narrow them down by clicking on events, groups, applications, pages e.t.c.

4. How to find classmates or coworkers on Facebook:

If nothing else works, do remember that Facebook has special search options to find your old classmates and coworkers on Facebook. Classmate search allows you to search by High school or college while Coworker search lets you search by the company name.

5. How to search Facebook for content:

If you are searching for content on Facebook, do remember that you can narrow it down by posts from friends: and posts from everyone. You can either use these tags in the search bar or narrow down your results once they are displayed.

Facebook, currently the most popular social network, released a new feature in the form of disposable passwords. This feature is intended for those of you who access up using computers from a public place.
How to use “disposable password” is very easy. Users who want to log in up from the computer in a public place does not have to use the original password, but can get a “password disposable” by phoning 32665 from mobile phones.

Once the phone has been connected with the account up, users will receive SMS replies in the form of “temporary password” that can only be used once and is valid for 20 minutes.

Top 5 Google Shortcuts and Search Operators

There is certainly no need for a lengthy introduction to this post. We all know that Google has some extremely useful shortcuts and advanced search operators. If used properly while conducting a search, they can save precious time and bring us directly to the information we seek.

Below you will find a list of the top five Google shortcuts and search operators that I feel save me the most time on a regular basis. I list out each operator or shortcut, its purpose, and examples of its use. The list is in reverse order, saving the best for last.

5. Define: - Provides short definitions for words, acronyms, or common phrases. Google aggregates this info from other websites and links the definitions to their original source. This operator can be extremely handy when you need the rough meaning of a word in an instant.

Examples:
- define:rss - get the definition of the acronym RSS
- define:aspiration - get the definition of aspiration

4. Address, city, state: – A quick and dirty shortcut for mapping out a physical address using Google Maps. Once the address is mapped out, Google Maps provides you with “to” and “from” shortcuts that can be used to create driving directions. With all my recent business travel, this shortcut has saved hours of my life that would have otherwise been spent on MapQuest… which makes MapQuest obsolete.

Examples:
- 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA, 94043 - Shortcut map of Google’s headquarters.
- 701 First Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA, 94089 - Shortcut map of Yahoo’s headquarters.

3. Site: - Used for concentrating a Google search on a single website or domain name. There are so many websites out there with flawed search functionality or no search capability at all. This operator is the solution for saving time when you need to find a certain piece of information on an unorganized website.

2. Filetype: - Filters a search result so that it only includes documents of a specific file format. Say you are conducting research online and need to find whitepapers that are typically stored in PDF format, this simple Google operator is the answer… a true time saver for online research.

Examples:
- filetype:pdf blogging - Search for PDFs on blogging.
- filetype:doc search engine optimization - Search for word processing documents on search engine optimization.

1. Allinanchor: - Conducts a search based on keywords used strictly in the anchor text, or linking text, of third party sites that link to the web pages returned by the Google search. In other words, this operator filters your search results in a way such that Google ignores the actual textual content of the web pages, but instead bases the search result relevance on the keywords other sites use to reference it. This search operator can help you save large quantities of time when a normal textual based search query does not fetch the information you desire. Sometimes you can get a better idea of the content located within a website by reading how the mass refers to that site’s content.

Examples:
- allinanchor:google hacks - Search for websites that other pages link to concerning the topic of Google hacks.
- allinanchor:wordpress exploits - Search for websites that other pages link to concerning the topic of Wordpress exploits.

Put Facebook Chat Firefox Sidebar & talk from any Webpage

Facebook Chat is cool, at least it allows you to send instant messages to online Facebook contacts. The advantages are that you need not open your Facebook homepage to see a list of friends that are online and second, you can talk with Facebook friends while reading any web page in Firefox. If you are using Firefox, you can place the Facebook Chat at the sidebar.

Step 1

Look for Bookmarks on the top navigation. Select Organize Bookmarks…

Step 2

Click New Bookmark... tab and enter the following:

Name: Facebook Chat
Location: http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php
Check Load this bookmark in sidebar.

Step 3

Launch the Firefox sidebar, click Facebook Chat and start chatting with your Facebook contacts within Firefox.

I have found the following shortcuts useful:

+ E = Opens "My Computer" and gives me access to all my drives.

+ R = Brings up the run box for entering a program to run.

+ TAB = Scrolls from program to program.

+ L = Logout of your session in Windows.

+ M = Minimize the current screen.

+ X = Shows the Windows Mobility Center.

+ 1-0 = Executes whatever you have on the shortcut bar located near the start menu.

= Opens the start menu if pressed alone.

All these coupled with the different Control plus another key have helped me with each of my projects . Thank you for reading through these and I hope this helps you navigate your computer easier .

You may have stuck with a problem that when you have a task to rename multiple files at once, renaming files simultaneously is really a time consuming task when you have more than hundreds of files. You might Google it out to find some tool, but i will guide you how to rename multiple files rapidly with any tool.

There is a simple and easy way to rename multiple files on a single instance, follow the steps below to get to the renaming result on files present on a similar directory.

Step 1: Place all your files to be renamed in folder.
Step 2: Select all the files by pressing ‘CTRL+A’ or individual files.
Step 3: Press F2 or right click and ‘Rename’, now enter your desired name to be renamed when done press enter.

You will notice all the selected files will be renamed to image(1).jpg, image(2).jpg. This is a very simple trick and hence does not require any installation. This trick works on all windows version and comes handy when you don’t have enough permission for installations.

Phreaking Nokia Secrets

First things first, Nokia is a worldwide Corporation which owns 36% of the market share. So no doubt alot of you own a Nokia mobile, whether it be CDMA or GSM.

CDMA : Is a phone which does not need a sim card to run, it just stores everything on the phone.
GSM : Is a phone which has a SIM card (like Vodafone)

There are several codes that you can use on Nokia's, i will run through these in this article.
(Stand-by mode is the main/home screen which displays your battery charge and signal)

(NOTE: The Service Programming Menu only works on CDMA phones)

1. Service Programming Menu - *3001#12345#

This menu is the mother of all Nokia codes, you can edit your phone like mad here, most of these menus your service provider probably doesn't want you to have the ability to do. So here we go.

On stand-by mode, type in *3001#12345# and wait a few seconds for it to load up. Once the screen comes up you will have several options, all with different functions. (NOTE: this menu differs on different phones.)

1. NAM 1
2. Change SPC
3. Security
4. Server addr.
5. SW version
6. Serial number
7. Programmed
8. Field test

1. NAM 1 (* means explained below)

This is the most useful menu your phone has, it allows you to edit the heck out of your phone! inside NAM 1 there are these different menus:

Own number*
Mobile ID number
A-key code
Alpha tag*
Emergency*
Service No.
CDMA settings
NAM status

Own number:
Self explanitory, but if you want a new number then this is where you want to go. Just enter this menu followed by the SPC (see Change SPC) then change your number. This DOES work, but the new phone number you want must not already be in use.

Alpha tag:
You know on the standby screen, there's the "Vodafone" or "Telecom" or "T-Mobile" that appears? well now you can get rid of that annoying tag. Change this to whatever you please, just to make your phone more personalised.

Emergency:
This menu is basically a menu which displays all the numbers that will divert to the emergency number of your area. For example, if you live in USA and your emergency number is 911, in this menu there will be "911","811", "991" and the obvious numbers that you may type in while trying to reach 911. It's smart not to mess with these, because you never know when you'll be in an emergency. There should be some free slots so why not add in a couple more numbers that you want to divert to your emergency?
Some people think "Wow! emergency number! that calls for free, so maybe if i put in my friends number then it will give me free calls to him/her!" WRONG. This menu can NOT give you free calls. If you were to put in your friends number, then whenever you called them you would end up calling the emergency line - as that's what you're diverted to! REMEMBER THIS!

2. Change SPC

The SPC is the Service Programming Code. This code is rather hard to come across, as the service providers try to hide it from the public so they can't access these places on their phones. But luckily enough if you live in New Zealand then here is the code :)

147359 - Is the default code that will let you into 'almost' anything
665*** - Is the 'master' code, that will let you into anything you like.

(The *** is the last 3 digits of your Nokia model, for example: If your Nokia was model number '8734', then your master code will be '665734'. The 665 is the default number for the Nokia company.)

So, this menu just means you can change the code. NOTE: Some mean stores when you buy the phone tend to access this menu and change it so that the owner can't access it :( that is not always the case though, so try it out!

3. Security

This menu just shows you the security code that is installed on your phone, couldn't be more bland.
FUN TRICK: why not have a look at your friend/work mates' phone and access this menu, you could then see their security code or change it just for fun :) But we're nice people and that's naughty, so we arn't going to do that are we..

4. Server addr.

This is the server address of your service provider. Nothing you can do here.

5. SW version

Once again, another menu with not alot of meaning. All you can do in here is check out when your phone was activated, and what version software it is running. This can also be accessed on GSM phones (see below)

6. Serial number

This is your serial number. DUH.
It would be a wise idea to jot this down somewhere safe, because this could be useful. If your phone was ever lost or stolen then you could contact your service provider and give them this code. This would let them shut the phone down so that your robber couldn't use your phone - or access anything on it for that matter.

7. Programmed

This is just a menu that you can only access once, which lets you type in when your phone was programmed.

Seem like the menus are getting lamer? Wait for the next one..

8. Field Test

This is an option which is quite cool really. Go into Field test and change "Disabled" to "Enabled". Then get out of the whole service programming menu.
Now, turn your phone off, and back on again.
Once it loads up go to your normal menu and scroll to the bottom. Notice you have just added a new menu to your phone? It is called Net Monitor.
Net Monitor speaks for itself, with this option you can monitor your network to a small extent.
Enter Net Monitor and it will prompt you with "Group/display:" enter in 3101 and press OK.
It should take you back to your standby screen, nothing will have changed. But wait a few seconds and then all these numbers will appear on your screen. What do they mean?

There is only one number you can really understand in this menu. This number is located as the third number down, it will say something like "-50" (the 50 can range anywhere from 10 to 99). This is how strong the signal is.

For example : If your phone displayed -10 here then it's telling you that your neighbour is a cell site and your signal is really really good.

If your phone displayed -90 then it's basically telling you that where you live or where you are at that certain time has really bad signal.

You will notice that as you get closer/further away to a cell site this number will grow or decrease.

That sums up the Service Programming Menu, and the extra things your service provider doesn't want you doing :}

There are many other codes that you can use on CDMA phones, just search around for them.

Extra Codes:

*#66767# - This code when spelt out is "NO-SMS", so shouldn't that mean no texting? well, yes. If you enter this code in on your phone then you will no longer have the ability to "Create Message" or "Reply". If you're really mean then enter it on your brother or sisters phone, that's sure to give you some laughs. You can bring them back again by re-entering the code.

*#639# - This brings you to the menu which just re-programs your phone faster. I wouldn't reccomend you doing this if you value your phone.

*#7780# - This takes you to a menu which says "Restore Factory Settings", i think you understand what will happen if you press yes :p

GSM Code:

This is the only GSM code i know from the top of my head, just search around for more as I'm sure they're out there.

*#0000# - This is probably the most useless code you can find, but anyway it just gives you information on when your phone was activated. If your phone was sent in for repair, then this date will have changed to the date when it was fixed.

Make your folders invisible..

1)Right Click on the desktop.Make a new folder
2)Now rename the folder with a space(U have to hold ALT key and type 0160).
3)Now u have a folder with out a name.
4)Right click on the folder > properties > customize. click on change icon.
5)Scroll a bit, u should find some empty spaces, Click on any one of them.
click ok

Lock pc just by double clicking mouse
You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using
a right mouse click, and enter ‘rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation’ in the location field.
Give the shortcut a name you like. That’s it — just double click on it and your computer will be locked.
And if that’s not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

SPEED UP UR ACROBAT READER
(ALMOST LIKE NOTEPAD)
Do u get irritated when acrobat reader takes 5/10 seconds to load when you want to open a pdf document. There is a way to speed up the loading.

1. Go to the installation folder of acrobat reader
(C:\program files\adobe\acrobat\reader\.. whatever)

2. Move all the files and folders from the “plugins” directory to the “Optional” directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).

Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).

Now your acrobat reader will load very fast
and almost as good as notepad..

Remove Stored username and Passwords !
To remove the Stored User Names and Passwords from your system, try this:
Click Start, Run and type Control keymgr.dll
Remove the entries from the list.
The other ways to access this dialog are:

Remove the Username and picture from Windows XP New Start Menu
The User account picture can be removed by turning off the Welcome Screen. Or, by switching to Windows Classic theme. Follow the method described in this article if you want to remove the username and picture from the Start Menu, without disabling the Welcome Screen and Windows XP Theme.

For those who want to remove the user name and user account picture from Start Menu, in order to have a blank blue panel at the top, try this:
Start Windows Explorer and go to this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures

From that folder, rename the BMP file which corresponds to your user account.
( For example, if your username is Robert, rename Robert.bmp to old_Robert.bmp )
Next, rename the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures
to something else, say…

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\No_Default Pictures
To remove the user name, follow these steps

Start regedit.exe and navigate to the this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft\ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
In the right-pane, set NoUserNameInStartMenu value-data to 1

Close Regedit.exe and restart Windows.
You’ll end up with a blue space at the top of the Start Menu.

To get back the username and the picture, reverse the above procedure.
For the New Start Menu, Windows XP looks for the .bmp file in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures
If the file is not found, it takes a picture from the “Default Pictures” sub-folder. By renaming the .bmp and the “Default Pictures” folder, you’re giving no chance for Windows to fetch an image for the Start Menu

Sometimes we want to insert current data and time, whenever we open the file in the notepad. If you are a lazy person like me, who donâ€™t like to press F5 whenever you open a notepad. Then here is a trick to avoid this. Just add a .LOG in the first line of your text file and close it.
Whenever you open the file with that text in the first line in the notepad, it will insert the current date and time at the end of the file. You can start entering your text after that.

WHY?
The reason this happens:

In notepad, any other 4-3-3-5 letter word combo will have the same results.
It is all to do with a limitation in Windows. Text files containing Unicode UTF-16-encoded Unicode are supposed to start with a “Byte-Order Mark” (BOM), which is a two-byte flag that tells a reader how the following UTF-16 data is encoded.

1) You are saving to 8-bit Extended ASCII (Look at the Save As / Encoding format)
2) You are reading from 16-bit UNICODE (You guessed it, look at the Save As / Encoding format)
This is why the 18 8-bit characters are being displayed as 9 (obviously not supported by your codepage) 16-bit UNICODE characters

SPEED UP MENU DISPLAY.!!
When using the start menu the you will notice a delay between different tiers of the menu hierarchy. For the fastest computer experience possible I recommend changing this value to zero. This will allow the different tiers to appear instantly.

Start Regedit. If you are unfamiliar with regedit please refer to our FAQ on how to get started.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Select MenuShowDelay from the list on the right.

Right on it and select Modify.
Change the value to 0.
Reboot your computer.

CLICKING * .AVI FILES ON EXPLORER CAUSING 100% CPU USAGE.!!
Well windows seem to have a REALLY big problem when it comes to reading AVI files. It seems that when you click on an AVI file in explorer, it’ll try to read the entire AVI file to determine the width,height, etc. of the AVI file (this is displayed in the Properties window). Now the problem with Windows is that if you have a broken/not fully downloaded AVI file that doesnt contain this info, Windows will scan the entire AVI file trying to figure out all these properties which in the process will probably cause 100% CPU usage and heavy memory usage. To solve this problem all you have to do is the following:
1. Open up regedit
2. Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler
3. Delete the “Default” value which should be “{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}”
Voila! Please not that this will no longer provide you with the windows properties displaying the AVI file information such as width, height, bitrate etc. But its a small price to pay for saving you resources.
NOTE: Please use caution when using regedit. Improper usage may cause windows to behave imcorrectly. Also, I cannot be held resposible. Backup your registry first.

5 Things you don't Know Google Cloud Do !!

Google is widely known as the Internet’s best search engine. Everybody with access to the internet uses Google at some point to find something (or many things) on the web for a particular web page, or a certain piece of information.

However, Google has several built in functions that will help you make your searches more successful, and to enable you to spend less time searching. I have written a post about some tricks that will help you with your image search and that will ‘give you the power’ to Find Images by Exact Dimensions, File Type or From Specific Website. That should make your search for new wallpapers that perfectly fit to your screen resolution as easy as walk in a park.

But today I’ve decided to expand that post and to tell you about a list of 5 functions that you did not know before (I think), all accessible from the main Google search box (frontpage), which will help youfind every piece of information you are looking for.

1. Removing unwanted (unrelated) results:

Ever searched for something before, and had a whole list of completely irrelevant web pages come up? This is annoying at the best of times, as it takes time to check and read through the list of sites and find the one you actually want.

For example, if you were looking for a review of the book “Harry Potter” (whatever part of it), and you typed into Google “Harry Potter review”, many of the links listed are reviews of the movie, not the book. Because you are not looking for a review of the movie, you can remove all pages related to the movie by adding “-movie” to the end of your search terms.

This will now display all the pages relevant to “Harry Potter review“, but not relevant to ” Harry Potter movie”.

2. Use Google as an excellent Calculator:

Google can be used as a calculator, answering anything from the simplest math to the most complex equation. Just enter your math question, and Google will display the answer. (Damn, I wish I knew this earlier)

+ is used to add terms, - to subtract terms, * to multiply terms, and / to divide terms. Besides these basic operators, you can use ^ to work out something to the power of something (for example, “2^4” would be 2 to the power of 4), and “sqrt“ (without quotation marks) to calculate the square root of a number (for example, “sqrt 4” would be the square root of 4).

3. Find Dictionary Definitions

By typing “define:” before a word, Google will retrieve and display a list of dictionary definitions for that word. Very useful function…

4. Search A Single Website

If you type “site:” and then a website after a search term, Google will search for your term(s) in only the site dictated. For example, the following search will search the keyword “Windows 7″ only this blog.

5. Search for A Specific File Type:

As I am sure you are aware, there are many files hosted on the internet besides the standard ‘html websites’. Therefore, searching for a specific type of file could make your search a lot easier. For example, if you were looking for a PDF version of the iPhone manual, you could use the following search, which would produce more accurate (and less) results.

Here the “filetype:” tool is making Google search the web for PDF files only, therefore eliminating any pages that we didn’t want to see.

These are just 5 useful functions that Google can perform, there are many more for you to discover, and they can all be mixed and matched! In our days, Google become an indispensable search tool for millions of people. We use it many times a day, from everywhere: from work, home or school; for researches, amusement or for looking up movies and celebrities to news and gossip. But is not sufficient to type in a phrase a few words in, and changing your query until you find what you’re looking for. There are different ways to make your searches more efficient.
Maybe, you know already about some of these, maybe others are lesser-known, or others
are known but not often used. Anyway, learn more about, or be reminded of, some
of the best ways to get exactly and quickly what you’re looking for.

Or. Google normally searches for pages that contain all the words you type in the search box, if you enter two words, it means you’re looking for pages that include both those words: word one and word two, in this case use the OR operator or use the “|” symbol (pipe symbol). Do not forget the OR has to be capitalized.
Example: internet marketing OR advertising.

Quotes. When you’re searching for an exact phrase, you won’t get the best results simply by entering all the words in the phrase as your query. When you want to search for an exact phrase, you should enclose the entire phrase in quotation marks. This tells Google to search for the precise keywords in the prescribed order.
Example: “internet marketing”, in this case will be find only that exact phrase. [software "internet marketing"] will find pages that contain the word software and the exact phrase “internet marketing”.

Not. If you do not want a term or phrase, use the “-” symbol. [-internet marketing]. Now Google will find only the pages that contain “marketing”.

Similar words and Synonyms. If you want to include a word in your search, but want to find results that contain similar words or synonyms, use the “~” symbol.
Example: [internet marketing ~strategies].
Google will get you pages that contain “internet marketing strategies” and “internet marketing techniques”.

Wildcard: Sometimes you want to research a phrase, but you don’t know the exact wording, in this case use the wild-card (“*”) symbol. This is useful if you’re trying to find the lyrics to a song, but can’t remember the exact lyrics.Example: [* in the Sky With Diamonds]
will return the Beatles song ” Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”. You can insert more than one asterisk in place of more than one word in your search phrase.

Advanced search. If you don’t remember all these operators, you can use Google’s advanced search that offers to you different searches in various combinations.

Definitions. If you need to get quickly a definition of a word or phrase, simply use the “define:” command.
Example: [define: internet]
will give you a list of definitions from different source.

Calculator. Sometimes, you need to do a quick calculation, you can just type your expression in to Google. It is faster than calling up your computer’s calculator.
Example: [34456* 23]
also you can use +,- , / symbols.

Number ranges. It’s a very useful tip that find results that contain any of a range of numbers.
Example: [mp3 player 30..70]
will match 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70GB mp3 players and any other number in-between.

Backlinks. Google allows you to find backlinks by using the link-operator.
Example: [link:amazon.com]
will find all the pages that link to www.amazon.com.

Vertical search. You may get better results by using one of Google’s more specialized search sites. These include:

Movies. Use the “movie:” operator to search for a movie title, also you can enter the zip code of your city and state to find a list of movie theaters in the area and show times.

Music. Use [music:]

Unit converter. Google can also be used as an unit converter.
Example: [10 meters in yards].

Types of numbers. Special searches by number types include:
Area Code Map: [ 213 ]
Flight Tracking Information: [ united 52 ]
Vehicle Id Number: [JH4NA1157MT035832]
Patent Numbers: [ patent 5115613 ]

File types. If you’re looking to find results that are of a specific type ( PDF files, Word documents, or Excel) you can use the “filetype:” operator.

Similar Pages. Use Google’s “related:” operator to display pages that are in some way similar to the specified page.
