In an apparent confrontation between the judiciary and the executive over the issue of the prime minister’s conviction, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has put its weight behind the apex court.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced on Sunday that his party would challenge a ruling of the National Assembly speaker on the conviction of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in a contempt case.

Youm-e-Takbeer is being observed today (May 28, 2012)

Islamabad (May 28, 2012) – Youm-e-Takbeer, the celebration of Pakistan s atomic explosions in 1998, will be observed on Monday across the country with a pledge to make Pakistan a stronger country, militarily and economically, among the comity of nations.
Then Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif (PMLN) was Prime Minister of Pakistan. The day is commemorated every year on May 28 to mark the conduction of nuclear tests on the very day, in 1998, making Pakistan the first Muslim and the 7th nuclear country in the world.

Pakistan had conducted nuclear tests at Chaghi, Balochistan in response to five nuclear explosions conducted by India, threatening the security of Pakistan.
To mark the day, various political parties and social organizations have chalked out a number of comprehensive programmes with national zeal and fervour in different parts of the country.
Pakistan, on May 28, 1998, joined the prestigious club of seven nuclear powers, by conducting nuclear tests to give a befitting response to India’s initiative of testing nukes on May 11 and 13, the same year.

Punjab Government Green Tractor Scheme 2013

The Punjab government has announced the Green Tractor Scheme that would be launched in next fiscal year in which 20,000 tractors would be given to the farmers on subsidised rates. The government would allocated Rs. 2 billion for the scheme in next budget while 25 percent subsidy per tractor will be provided in the scheme.

The government has included this scheme in non-development project in next fiscal year. In previous schemes of Green Tractor government had provided 50 percent subsidy but this time they have decided to reduce to subsidy to 25 percent in this scheme.
