As the lockdown was announced from province to province in Pakistan, schools were thrown into a frenzy. They had little time to shift from onsite teaching to a completely remote, online classroom mode for their entire student bodies. What resulted in that rush were hastily implemented online study protocols, and a focus on maintaining ‘business-as-usual’. As a result of a nationwide lockdown, a smooth transition from on-site education to online education was desperately required. This consists of the complete adoption of everything that comes under online education - the syllabi, the tools, the technology- everything!

Here are a few of the possible issues that students, their parents, and school staff members may be facing at this moment:

-The assumption that all parents and students have ready access to smartphones, laptops, computers, and reliable/uninterrupted internet access.

-Teachers and their students are expected to maintain the pace of instruction and study with little acknowledgment of the global crisis situation. While teachers and students are being asked to stay home for their safety, it does not guarantee that they are not experiencing stress from other sources.

-There can be varying levels of digital literacy among all those involved - can be a teacher, a student, or a parent.

-There is no way to gauge the students’ engagement via online instruction -especially without a trial period.

-Half-implemented online education portals, with missing instructions, vague directions, and an overall lack of information all result in wasted time and frustration.

تقریباً ستر برس پہلے دوسری جنگ عظیم کے بعد عالمی قائدین نے انسانی حقوق سے متعلق بہت سےمہا عد ے کیۓ تھے جن کی وجہ سے یہ امید قایم ہوئی تھی کہ اب دنیا ایسی غلطی کبھی نھیں دہراے گی ا ور اگر کچھ ممالک ایسا کرنا بھی چا ہین گے تو انسانی حققوق کے مشترکہ ادارے انھیں ایسا کرنے سے روکنے پر قا در ہوں گے ...، مگر ایسا کچھ نھیں ہوا انسانی حقوق کی جتنی پامالی اس عرصے میں ہوئی اسکی مثال نھیں ملتی ، تیسری جنگ عظیم سے خوف دلاتے دلاتے انسانون پر درجنوں چھوٹی جنگیں مسلط کی گیں ، جنکا مشترکہ دورانیہ دوسری جنگ عظیم سے زیادہ ہے ، لوگ غربت ،خوف ، ہجرت ا ور جنگ میں پوری زندگیاں گزا ر رہے ہیں ا ور اقوا م متحدہ کی بے بسی سب پر پر عیاں ھوتی گی،

لیڈرشپ ، قایدین ، حکومت، ادارے ، کار وبار ا ور ٹیکنالوجی کی ترقی یہ سب ایک مقصد کے لئے بنا ے جاتے ہیں ، کہ وہ انسان کے لئے سہولت ور بھلا ئی پیدا کرے انھیں منظم رکھے ، مگرمعاشی ترقی کی دوڑ میں یہ " واحد نقطہ " سب نے بشمول انسانی بھلائی ا ور بحالی کے اداروں نے بھی نظر انداز کر دیا ، ان اداروں کی انسانی صورت حال کی بحالی کی ہر کوشش ہمیشہ بہت آہستہ ا ا ور امن کی کوششیں آتے میں نمک کے برابر رہیں ، ….

بعد از " کورونا" اب وقت کا تقاضہ ہے کہ عالمی دنیا انسا نیت , انسانو ں کی بقا کی اہمیت ، اور ملکی سطح پر ایک خود مختار سوچ ،عمل ا وررویے کی اہمیت کو سمجھیں!

سب ملکوں کو خصوصاً پسماندہ تیسری دنیا کے ممالک کو اپنے اپنے طور پر یہ فیصلہ کرنا ہوگا کہ وہ پھر سے اسی نہج پر چل پڑیں گےاور پہلے کی طرح فوری معاشی فوآید کے لئے آنے والے مستقبل کو خطرے میں ڈالیں گے ؟؟ یا اپنا راستہ خود منتخب کریں گے جس میں ماحولیات ، علاقا ی ہم آہنگی ہو ، بنیادی انسانی حققوق کی فراہمی یقینی ہو ، علاج، تحقیق ، ملکی کے پیسے میں برا حصہ ہو، تعلیم لازمی اور اس میں سب کی شمولیت یقینی ہو

سوشل میڈیا کے اس دور میں " فن پیج " کے ذریعے کچھ بھی

تاثر دیا جا سکتا ہے مگر حکومتوں ، انسانی حقوق کی بحالی کے اداروں کو اگر اپنی اہمیت برقرار رکھنی ہے تو انھیں خصوصاً اپنی کارکردگی پر توجہ دینی ضروری ہے نہ کہ وہ ہمیں ہاتھ دھونے کے طریقے بتانے"donations" کی اپیل کرتے نظر آئیں

کرونا کی وبا کے دنیا بھر میں پھیلاؤ کی وجہ سے جہاں سا ری دنیا زہنی انتشار کا شکار ہے وہاں بچوں کے والدین خاص طور پر الجھن میں ہیں اسکول بند، پڑھا ئی گھر پر اور اپنے کام اور روزگار کی فکر انھیں پریشا ن کر رہی ہے-

خاص طور پر وہ بچے جو دائمی طور پر بیمار، یا کسی معذوری کا شکار ہوں یا انکو خصوصی تعلیم کی ضرورت ہو جیسے " آٹزم" یا "سیریبرل پا لسی" کے شکا ر بچے جنکو خاص ادویات ، تھراپی ا ور خاص تعلیمی ماحول کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے ، انکےوالدین بہت فکرمند ہیں

پاکستان میں اسپیشل بچوں کو پالنا ا ور انکی دیکھ بھال کرنا بہت ہی کٹھن ہوتا ہے یہ والدین بہت ہی با ہمت افراد ہوتے ہیں

جوخصوصی بچوں کی دیکھ بھال بغیر کسی حکومتی مدد کے خود کرتے ہیں ، جواورعام بچوں کی نسبت بہت مشکل ہوتی ہے کیونکہ معمولی سا علاج ، تھراپی اور خصوصی تعلیمی ادارے بہت مہنگے ہیں پاکستان میں ابھی تک خصوصی بچوں یا افراد کے لئے کسی طرح کا کو ئی ایسا نظام موجود نھیں جو انکے خرچوں میں رعا یت ،سہولت یا مالی مدد کرے اسے میں ما لی بے یقینی انکے ذہنی سکون کو ختم کر رہی ہے، اس لاک ڈا ون نے بہت سے پاکستانی والدین کا اپنی ما لی حالت پر سے اعتماد ختم کیا ہےجبکہ نوکری ہو یا کاروبار اس جبری رخصت نے انھیں ہلا کے رکھ دیا ہے انکو آنے والے وقت کے اندیشے بہت بڑھ گے ہیں فکر صرف یہ ہے نہی کے بچے کی صحت، اسکی "کوالٹی آ ف لائف" کیسے برقرار رکھیں ایسے میں خصوصی بچوں کی ذہنی،جذباتی نشو نما اور ضروریات کیسے پوری ہونگی ؟؟ یہ ایک سنجیدہ سوال ہے!

Announced amounts are low but still better than nothing , which should reach to the most deserving Pakistanis.

مگر ایسا لگتا ہے جسے حکومت اپنے آپ کو اس صورت حال کے لئے تیار نھیں سمجھتی !

ویسے تو ہماری عوام کو حکومت کی تاکید ہے کہ گھبرانا نہیں پھر بھی ہر پاکستانی شہری پریشان ہو ہی گیا ہے پہلے سے انتہا ئی مہنگائی کے شکارعوام کو کچھ امداد اور رعایت دینا حکومت کا فرض ھے جبکہ حکومت خود عالمی اداروں سے ، امداد اور رعایت دونوں وصول کر رہی ہے ، ان میں سے کچھ امداد تو کرونا سے پیدا شدہ حالا ت سے نمٹنے کے لیے ہی ہیں ،،، حکومت کی آسانی کے لئے شہری نے کچھ طبقات کا ذکر کیا ہے جو مزدور اوربڑے سرمایہ دار کے درمیان ھماریے معاشرے میں موجود ہیں اور شاید حکومتی اداروں کی نظر سے اوجھل رہ گے ہوں ..

ابھی تک جو نظرآرہاہے کچھ یوں ہےکہ:

ایک دیہاڑی دار کو ملیں گے تین ہزار ماہانہ : روزمرہ کے کام کرنے والےراج مزدور جو بنیادی طور پسا ہوا اور پسماندہ طبقہ ہیں بیشتر غیر تعلیم یافتہ ہوتے ہیں ، اپنا نام نہیں لکھ سکتے ، انکا شنآختی کارڈ بن جانا ا ور سںمبھال لینا ایک اہم بات ہوتی ہے ، اگر اسکے بنا کم مل جا ے تو کبھی نہ بنایں، تین ہزار روپے میں انکا بھی اس مہنگا ئی میں گزارا ممکن نظر نہیں آتا ہے-

غربت کی لکیر سے ذرا اوپر, انکا کچھ ذکرہی نھی :

ہمارے ملک کی بیشترآبادی خود اپنا کوئی چھوٹا یا درمیانہ درجے کا کاروبار کرتے ہیں،اوریا ایسے کسی کاروبار سے منسلک ہیں جو سرکاری، نیم سرکاری یا فوجی نوکری کے زمرے میں نھیں آتا ، جنکہ علاج ، تعلیم وغیرہ کے وہ خود ہی ذمہ دار ہیں، جن کو ریٹائرمنٹ کے بعد بھی کوی پنشن یا مراعات نہیں ملتیں ،جو گارڈز، اساتذہ ، ریسٹورنٹ کے ویٹرز ، ڈیلیوری والے ، کریم ،او بر ڈرائیورز ، مالز پر کھڑے سیلز کے بیشمار اسٹاف، پارلر اور سیلون کے مالک ،اسٹاف، ہنرمند کاریگر ، درزی ، دھوبی یا آپکا سبزی گوشت والا ہیں ، یا جو چھوٹے کسان ہیں ان کے بارے میں کون سوچے گا ....

معاشرے میں سب سے غیرمحفوظ , معزور افراد اور غربت لازم و ملزوم :

ہمیں اپنی آگہی ور رہنمائی کی مہم میں سیریبرل پآلسی سے متاثرہ ا ور دیگر بیماریوں سے بھی معذور بچوں کے خاندانوں کی روزمرہ مسایل سے اکثر واسطہ پڑتا ہے اور ہماری بے انتہا کوشش کے باوجود کہ انکی زندگی کا معیار کچھ بہتر ہو جاے ور ان بچوں کے والدین کو کچھ اضافے آمدنی ہو مگر ہم جب بھی حکومت کے پیش کردہ فلاحی منصوبوں میں ان کے لئے درخواست کرتے ہیں ہمیں شدید حیر ت ا ور مایوسی ہوتی ہے جب نتیجہ ہمیشہ "کبھی جواب نہ آنا"، اور "آپ اس سہولت کے اہل نھیں" ہی ہوتا ہے ، جبکہ جن بنیادی سہولیات کی ہم معذور افراد کے لئے تلاش کر رہے ہوتے ہیں وہ ا نکےبنیادی انسانی حقوق کا حصہ ہیں ، صحت مند افراد تو کسی نہ کسی طرح سے کم حقوق کے سآتھ زندگی گزار ہی لیتے ہیں تاہم جسمانی یا ذہنئی معذوری کی صورت میں بھی حکومتی نظام غیر فعال نظر آتا ہے جو انسانی حقوق کی شدید ورزی ہے جبکہ پاکستان ایک عالمی کنونشن کا بھی حصہ ہے-

تجر بہ یہ کہتا ہے کہ, بینظیر انکم سپورٹ ہو ، خدمت کارڈ ہو یا احساس کارڈ ، انکے ثمرات کبھی مستحق اور معذورافراد تک نھیں پہنچ پاتے کیونکہ ہمارے ملک میں اس بارے میں کبھی کچھ ٹھوس کام جو ایک قابل عمل ڈھانچہ تشکیل دیتا ا ور بڑھتے ہوے آبادی کے تقاضوں کو پورا کرسکتا , ہوا ہی نھیں ہمارے اپنے نہ اعداد و شمارہیں , نہ کبھی غر یب ا ورغر بت پر کوئی جا مع تحققیق کی گئی ، پچیس فیصد کی سطح غربت سے نیچے ہونے کا اندازہ بھی بیرونی اداروں کا ہے اصل صورتحال اس سے کہیں زیادہ گھمبیر ہے-

ہمارے پاس اگر ستر نھیں تو پینتیس سال پرانا ہی کوئی" ویلفیئر" فلاحی نظام کاغذ اور اعلانات سے آگے جاتا بد عنوانی کے بھنور میں گم نہ ہو جاتا تو آج متعلقہ اداروں سے فہرست لیکر فورا جا ن جاتے کونسا طبقہ کتنی مرا عات کا مستحق ہے، مگر لوکل گور نمنٹ تقریبا" ناکارہ ، ا ور فلا حی ادارے بیرونی امداد کے پیش نظر قائم ہوں, جو کیک ، گلدستے اور فوٹو شوٹ تک محدود ہوں تو ان سے بحرانی حالا ت میں انسانی ہمدردی پر مبنی حل کی توقع کیسے کی جا سکتی ہے ؟؟

فلاحی ریاست میں فلاح کون کریگا ؟

ایک FBR کا ادارہ ہے جو پچھلے سال سے پاکستانی قوم سے ٹیکس جمع کرنے پرمصر ہے اور ہے اس میں کامیابی کا دعوا بھی کر چکا اس صورت میں حکومت کوفوراً "عوام کا ٹیکس عوام کے لئے" کے مصداق اس ادارے کو کام میں لانا ہوگا جو ٹیکس لگانے کا اصل ،مقصد بھی ہے، سا رے ترقی یافتہ ممالک اسی طرح ٹیکس امیر افراد سے لیکر کم آمدنی والے افراد میں دیتے ہے، تو پھر ہمارے اس ادا رے کے پاس تو امیر لوگوں کےشناختی کارڈ سے انکے بنکوں تک پہنچنے کا اختیار بھی ہے , بس اس بار انھیں ان لوگوں کو تلاش کرنا ہے جو بینک اکاؤنٹ نھیں رکھتے یا انکا اکاؤنٹ خالی ہے !

Vaccines were invented  more than 200 years ago as a preventive tool to avoid most communicable childhood diseases like  Chicken Pox, Measles📷, Polio etc,   however with time there use expanded for flu, whooping cough like common illnesses as -well . For a long time Vaccines were considered harmless and a best invention for humanity too.

Mandatory Vaccine Practices:

 Vaccines are mandatory in most  developed countries citizens , a long list of vaccines are given to infants and many boosters later in their growing years. Initially this policy was applauded as a good  preventive healthcare method to avoid outbreaks and epidemics, despite the modification in their types incidents of vaccine injuries and deaths are more frequent now than ever before, Now it is very evident that vaccines are “Not harmless” they are proven lethal in many cases worldwide  they ruined lives there is so much debate and controversy going on about Vaccines that soon it will be hard for any conscientious government to keep them mandatory any more.

World have become into a shrinking global village, we get affected by every policy not only in our immediate environment, in our global sphere too, sometime by choice and sometime due to the worldwide health regulations we vaccinate our children .

Expats “Time Travel”  between developed world and home countries where  laws and policies are decades apart from each other,  many families who had their kids Vaccinated in developing countries and as a consequence faced a loss of child or disability for rest of their lives, are a good source of feedback for parents and healthcare providers in Pakistan to pay attention and not blindly follow immunisation schedules for their kids here in Pakistan.

Quality control ; Affordability : Pakistan receive OPV Polio vaccine as a cheaper affordable version for mass consumption secondly during storage, dispatch, temperature control can affect efficacy of these vaccines.

Hygiene Issue: OPV  vaccines used for mass Polio immunisation can become a source of transmission of virus due to open toilet and overall lack of hygiene practices in refugee camps, rural and remote areas. 

Poverty and lack of Information: Basic mother and child-care is not very vigilant part of healthcare, only a severe vaccine reaction or a death will get noticed, less obvious delays and disabilities will be considered to be as “by birth”  these kids can suffer disability for rest of their lives without even realising what caused it, definitely there is no possibility of any compensation or lawsuit to pharma for Pakistanis  .

Graveyards In Lahore Are A Disgrace! Focus: Miani Sahib

I repeat, the graveyards in Lahore are a disgrace!

Beginning with the historic Miani Sahib Graveyard on Bahawalpur Road, there is much that needs to be done to make the graveyards in Lahore functional.

Litter and Filth Dominate the Graveyard's Landscape

The current level of disrepair at Miani Sahib is an insult to the memory of all who now rest within

it's grounds. Garbage is found everywhere, on top of the graves, littering the dirt paths and even crowding the roads surrounding the area. Making your way in Miani Sahib is a stressful experience, as you never know when you may step on animal litter, or rotting animal/human (?)bones. Musicians and dholwallas playing music at all hours is another unpleasant discovery as it offends the religious and spiritual sensibilities of most of the visitors.

Nowhere to Step!

There is nowhere to walk without stepping on the dilapidated graves themselves. The few walkways and pathways have now been converted into newer graves. Many of the graves are damaged and crumbling at the edges after to being stepped upon by visitors; there is also irreparable destruction due to theft by grave robbers.

Read about the corpse of a baby girl that went missing a day after the burial. This is an alarming state of affairs!

Overcrowding of Graves

The Miani Sahib Graveyard has the maximum capacity of 300,000 graves. Just 300,000! With over half a million graves crammed in, no wonder the cemetery is so crowded. Despite being full beyond capacity, the graveyard caretakers continue to add on graves and make considerable profit.

The Rising Cost of Death & Burial Services

Gravediggers do not miss any opportunity to rip-off mourning family members as they inquire about basic burial services. The Aukaaf officers are responsible for making the procurement of a burial spot an expensive and complex process, not much different from purchasing a plot of land or a house!

Non-cemented Grave's Registration: Govt. Rate: Rs. 100 | Graveyard Officials Charge: Rs. 5- 6,000

Cemented Grave's Registration: Govt. Rate: Rs. 1,000 | Graveyard Officials Charge: Rs. 10 -15,000

Dome Construction: Govt. Rate: Rs. 100,000 | Graveyard Officials Charge: Rs.150,000

Cost for Labour: Govt. Rate: Rs. 1,500- 5,000 | Graveyard Officials Charge: Rs.15,000- 30,000

Pakistan Today reports on how gravediggers exploit visitors by tearing down the graves themselves and then subsequently charging family members for the repair work.

Where Does The Money Go?

When family members fill out and pay the challan at the Bank of Punjab for the burial of a loved one, where does that money go? It is certainly not being used for the maintenance or repair of Miani Sahib Graveyard. There are no plot numbers or any other indications mentioned on the forms or on the gravesite/gravestones themselves. How is the challan payment verified?

Need All Graveyards To Be Renovated

I asked the CM's Strategic Reforms Unit about the status of the model graveyard project via Twitter:

The Shaher-e-Khamoshan project opened it's doors to the public yesterday. The idea is to model a functional graveyard and is situated in Kahna. While that is all well and good, what Lahore requires immediately is a massive renovation of all existing cemeteries.

I strongly recommend that Miani Sahib Graveyard be shutdown for "business" as it is way past capacity. There is no need for the mafia at the Miani Sahib to continue to profit when they have neither the space nor the intent to serve families looking for burial services and grave sites.

Back in 2015,Brazil reported a horrific surge in birth defects. Thousands of babies were born with brain damage and abnormally small heads, a condition called microcephaly.
Scientists quickly concluded the Zika virus was the culprit. So when Zika returned last year during Brazil's summer months of December, January and February — when mosquitoes are most active — health officials expected another surge in microcephaly cases.
But that never happened.
"We apparently saw a lot of cases Zika virus in 2016. But there was no microcephaly," says Christopher Dye of the World Health Organization.
The difference between 2015 and 2016 "is spectacular," he says.
Health officials were predicting more than 1,000 cases of microcephaly in the northeast of Brazil last year. But there were fewer than 100, Dye and his colleagues report Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.
"This is a huge, huge discrepancy," Dye says. "So what could possibly be the explanation for that?"
Scientists aren't sure, Dye says. But he and his colleagues suggest a few possibilities in their study.
First off, Dye says, health officials could have vastly overestimated the number of Zika cases in Brazil.
Zika can be misdiagnosed as another mosquito-borne virus, called chikungunya. Both viruses cause a fever, a rash and joint pain. "So chikungunya can easily be mistaken for Zika," Dye says.
But chikungunya doesn't cause microcephaly.
So perhaps Brazil actually didn't have that many Zika cases in 2016. And in turn, there weren't a lot of babies born with microcephaly.
Now for this theory to hold true, we're talking about thousands of Zika cases being mistaken for a totally different virus that's not even closely related to Zika. Could this really happen?
"Yes, I do think it's a possibility," Dye says. "This is this is our best view of what happened in 2016."
But Albert Ko at Yale School of Public Health doesn't quite buy it.
"Misdiagnosis is a reasonable hypothesis. But it's not clear that this explanation accounts for the whole story," says Ko, an epidemiologist, who is studying mothers and babies born with Zika in the northeast part of Brazil.
Ko think's there's another possible explanation: Zika might not be working alone. When a pregnant woman contracts Zika, that might not be enough to cause microcephaly in all cases.
Since the surge in Brazil's microcephaly cases in 2015, many scientists began to wonder whether a second virus could be involved. Maybe another infection combines with Zika to make the disease worse and increase the risk of birth defects.
Dye agrees that this phenomenon could be contributing to the overestimation of microcephaly cases.
In particular, scientists have their eyes on another mosquito-borne virus, which is common in Brazil, called dengue. In 2015, the country recorded more than 1.5 million cases of dengue, including many in the northeast, where many of the birth defects occurred.
"Everything is probably speculation at this point," Ko says. "But many groups are concerned about the exposure to dengue in Brazil."
Here's why.
Dengue is a complex virus. There are actually five different versions. Prior exposure to one version of dengue can actually make your illness worse when you're exposed to a second version.
And what's closely related to dengue? Zika.
"So another hypothesis is that prior exposure to dengue may actually enhance or promote the risk of birth defects from Zika," Ko says.
Right now, there is no evidence that a dengue infection exacerbates the symptoms of Zika — or increases its risk to pregnant women.
But several studies suggest it could happen. For starters, the presence of dengue antibodies helps the Zika virus infect cells in a petri dish.
And now, scientists are reporting that dengue antibodies make a Zika infection more deadly in mice.
Typically mice don't get Zika. But a team at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York engineered the animals to be susceptible to a Zika infection by crippling their immune systems.
The engineered mice get a fever and show signs of neurological problems when they're infected with Zika. Fewer than 10 percent of them die from the infection.
But when the mice received dengue antibodies before the Zika infection, the outcome was quite different. More than 80 percent of the mice died after eight days, immunologist Jean Lim and her colleagues report Thursday in the journal Science.
So now the big question is: Does a similar phenomenon occur in people?
Ko is working on epidemiological studies in northeast Brazil, right now, to see whether that is the case. If the dengue theory turns out to be true, it could mean the global threat of Zika for pregnant women is less dire than scientists originally thought.
