PTI: Will they practice what they preach: Rupee News Post Election Exclusive Interview with PTI Founder Dabbir Trimzy

Trimzy has stated official PTI policy in this interview.

Rupee News had endorsed the PTI despite its weak position on Kashmir and its bad education policy which would eliminate Urdu as a cohesive forces in Pakistan and replace Urdu with English. The PTI has now won the elections in KPK. In our opinion if does not modify its position on Kashmir and accepts Kashmir as disputed territory it will never be able to win the hearts and minds of Lahoris — 40% of whom are Kashmiri in origin. Nawaz Sharif’s dovish approach towards Delhi was rebuffed by Manmohan Singh (when he refused to come to the inauguration ceremony). The PTI will face similar responses from Delhi, despite its policy of appeasement. We cannot believe that Shireen Mazari will put up this surrender!

Dabbir Trimzy is a designated “Founding member” of the PTI and has galvanized much of the support for the PTI in the US–especially the greater NY/NJ area.

This is the summery of his bio:

Name: Dabbir H. Tirmzy

Designation: Founding Member Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (Joined PTI 25th April 1996 on the inception day)

Trustee&Ceo
IKDAR-Imran Khan Developmental Academic Research
www.ikdar.org

Member Executive Committee, IKF-Imran Khan Foundation

Born :Lahore Pakistan

Education: F.C. College (Lahore)

University of Agriculture(Faisalabad)

Awards: Gold Medalist(Seerat Conference 1983-84).

We have known Dabbir Tirmzy for the best part of a decade. We asked him for an exclusive interview for Rupee News. We present the answers without comment.

1) How injured is Imran Khan really? With two vertebrates fractures will he ever be normal?

Q1: Imran Khan continues to recover from the injuries he sustained as a result of his accident last week. The injury to his back has caused no neurologic damage and the strength and mobility of his limbs remains undiminished. His pain has lessened dramatically and he now only needs pain-killers occasionally. He is able to sit up in bed and is receiving regular physiotherapy. All his stitches have now been removed. He had X-rays of his spine earlier this week and the specialists treating him were very pleased with the results. The alignment of his spine is intact and we fully expect him to make a complete recovery in the next few weeks. The plan is for him to continue bed rest for a total period of two weeks from the day of his accident. Following this he will be required to wear a special support for his back for some weeks but he will be fully mobile with this. It is expected that Imran will, Inshahallah, be discharged from hospital by the middle of next week.

2) The PTI youth are too disappointed to accept the results ? Can we expect
normalcy and government running or five years of litigation?

Q2:The reason for disappointment is quite obvious as the turn out of votes was more than 60%.Youth in general and masses in particular voted for change but they changed the votes altogether. PTI has requested for recounting and re-polling in number of constituencies and PTI is already observing its boon as Ch Nisar lost today from Texla on provincial seat as a result of recounting. If recounting and re-polling is fair there are definite chances of normalcy. As far as copetion of 5 year term is concerned that purely depends on the Nawaz government to implement on their manifesto and promises. If Nawaz govt kept on doing what they did in their previous terms and got carried away with any new expedition then there are no chances of completion and country can see either a new mid term elections or a coup d’ etat. Imran has reassured his cooperation with new central government on the issues of terrorism, energy, law n order and
education and health. But this cooperation is contingent to keep them on track and not the other way round.

3) The PTI social media has come under a lot of scrutiny for its racism and
lack of civility towards its opponents. The PTI has not taken any steps to make it civil! Can we expect more of the same and since it is deteriorating does the nation surmise that this is official and PTI sanctioned?

Q3:Without doing any advocacy on social media of PTI I would rather term it
‘catharsis’ of the youth due to the deteriorating situation of the country
especially plight of joblessness and lawlessness. The youth of PTI is the most
educated section of people and know more civil norms than political one,so it is only the certain section of people inducted by opposition parties the garb of PTI youth in order to paint PTI youth as the uncivilized and apolitical devils. But it does not mean that there are no emotional or lesser communicative people around in PTI. The people who can be identified have been rectified and a constant effort is there to train them accordingly. Officially PTI does not support or induce any racist, uncivil acts or remarks of social media and condemn it on the contrary.

4) Imran Khans on Kashmir never mention Kashmir as a territorial dispute
between India and Pakistan–he only see it as an issue of 800,000 Bharati
soldiers in Occupied Kashmir. Isn’t this surrender of Pakistan’s principles
stand on Kaahmir viz a viz UN resolutions

Q4:Imran Khan has always reiterated about his stand Kashmir issue and met Kashmiri leaders like Yasin Malik and Mir Wa’iz Umer Farooq to emphasize that there is no military solution of Kashmir like Afghanistan. He reiterated that issue of Kashmir is more of abuse human rights and it can only be resolved by strong leadership of both sides. He mentioned mediation resolution can only be initiated under UN resolution on Kashmir. He strongly believes that there cannot be a tangible peace or trade pacts between both states without resolving the bone of contention of Kashmir.

5) What is the PTIs stand on stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh and the issue of an apology

Q5:PTI believes that not accepting the mandate of Mujeeb ul Rehman was a lethal mistake which caused dismemberment of Pakistan. Atrocities done by some black sheep in the army the then just added fuel to the fire. A simple apology means nothing and we have to indemnify by doing willful productive actions covering socioeconomic and political realms between both countries. PTI shall support and work with the policies to address the issue of stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh.

6) Imran Khan talks about the same curriculum in all schools. Does this mean that English will replace Urdu as the medium of instruction–and if so will English also replace the national language?

Q6:If you study the educational policy in detail which is available on PTI
website, you will have a vivid picture how this policy would work in its
universality. The punchline about one text education at primary, middle and high school would eliminate the divide of english and Urdu medium class. Languages would not be overshadowed by one another or get diminished. Definitely the thing which would be diminished is class education based on languages through the educational policy of PTI.

7) The way Imran Khan was carried out of the stadium displayed a high level of incompetence of the PTI. Why were the rallies so disorganized and without medical personnel and ambulances on site

Q7:The fall of Imran Khan was purely mismanagement due to overwhelming public appearances. It was the failure of security and debacle of management. But it showed so many needed loopholes as mentioned in your question regarding availability of proper security, ambulances and emergency units. Hopefully these kind of incidents shall be curtailed in future for any leadership of Pakistan in particular and for masses in general terms respectively.

8) Imran Khan talked about building “model villages” during the floods. Where are they? Names, locations and pictures please

8:IKF-Imran Khan foundation website is the best source to receive any kind of information as it was purely their job during flood emergency and its relief efforts.

9) Why has the leadership of the PTI been absent since IKs fall?

9:PTI leadership is not absent and can be viewed on tv and can be read on
Pakistani newspapers. The other leaders are appearing on local news channels regularly since Imran Khan fell. They could be absent on election day only for obvious reasons of electioneering.

10) Imran Khan as a national leader has lessons to learn on reconciliation and carrying opponents together (read Lincoln). His continued acrimony with Fazal Ur Rehman and belligerency with Altaf Hussain reeks of immaturity not statesmanship. Why can’t he bury the hatchet and move forward as a team

Q10:Imran Khan does not nurture or fester any personal vendetta against any one either Fazal ul Rehman or Altaf Hussain. He has a principle stand against status quo forces and militant groups of political parties. The hatchet is national not personal if all mentioned personalities stop dividing actions against the country in the name of religion, language, cast, creed, biradari and provincial bias then possibilities of cooperation could be considered. Anyone promoting harmony and nationalism in the country is principally welcome. As far as reconciliation is concerned there can only be”Truth and Reconciliation Commission”.

11) The PTI behavioir after the elections smells of a sore loser not someone
with sportsman’s spirit. The country expects his to move on accept the results and lead KPK –not continue the agitation on the streets. Comment please

Q11:Its more disappointing rather sore effect. Whole nation is in dismay after expecting change through historical turnout but massive rigging on larger scale turn down their hype for a brand new country. Of course its sportsmanship that Imran Khan promised full length support to Nawaz Sharif which is also the reflection of accepting mandate of PMLN. Protests is not an official call of PTI and people are at their own due to the injustice done to their mandate.

Agitation is there because masses have been agitated by ECP and MQM.

12) When Fazal Ur Rehman refuses to accept the mandate of the PTI in KPK –the PTI laughs at them. However it does the same to the MQM in Sindh. Comments please!

Q12:PTI mandate in KPK was an obvious phenomenon to happen which occurred. Gimmicks being played by Fazul ul Rehman are designed to topple PTI mandate. But whatever happened in Karachi has been showed on national channels. Its written on the wall. We are crying over Karachi and laughing on Molana, its called simultaneous bipolar effect!

13) If the PTI is a believer in democracy and institutions why the road
protests?

Q13:Road protests is an exhibition of the sentiments of people and peaceful
protests are part n parcel of real democracy not the the sham one.

14) The PTI was overconfident of its sweep. Was that wishful thinking, bad polling, rotten analysis, poor judgment, or plain old incompetence?

Q14:The claims of clean sweep were not a wishful thinking, utopian enigma or overconfidence. It was the sheer urge and desperation of the masses on the ground which became source of the confidence claiming clean sweep. And vigorousity of all public rallies of Imran Khan immensely reflected this
claim.Yes it was down played by rotten analysis and incompetent media who sold their pen and voice to status quo forces. There were international players who didn’t want Imran Khan to be in power. The possibility of malfunctioning of the PTI personnel can also not be set aside. It was combination of different motives and actions.

15) List the reasons for the lack of the tsunami in the provinces

Q15:Lack of Tsunami in various provinces is big question mark and lot of answers given above can address it but numerically speaking.

1: KPK reflected Tsunami effect. Results are speaking loudly.

2: Punjab, massive rigging and manipulation.
Politics of electables prevailed. Media down play.

3:Baluchistan is troubled by all means.

4:Sind,Karaci,Hyderabad…same thing…militant groups, waderas, mafias, and rigging on the top.

Thanks and regards.

Dabbir Tirmzy
Founding Member
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf

After getting the response, we tried to further press Dabbir with more follow-up questions. However we got a short response (see at end of the questions).

A) A follow up on Kashmir etc Kashmir is not an “issue” like a visa issue or
prisoner swap issue. Kashmir is a territorial dispute. Kashmir is a disputes
territory. Ik never utters the word “dispute”.

You repeated his words. We assume that the PTI does not consider Kashmir a dispute to be solved under UN resolutions

B) Followup on Urdu. Your response maintains the same ambiguity. We can assume that English will replace Urdu in the schools and the result within five to ten years is the slow elimination of Urdu from Pakistan

C) The PTI grossly miscalculated its electoral strength. We attribute this to
over-confidence and lack of knowledge of the ground realities. Comment please

D) The nations see the PTI as a site loser and it it continues to be on the roads–law enforcement agencies will remove them. Comments please

E) The PTI did not even talk to Shahbaz Sharif when he visited IK in the hospital, and IK has never accepted defeat or congratulates the winner till Nawaz Sharif visited him in the hospital. Comments please

F) Your explanation for the continued blatant racism and abuse in the social media leaves the impression that the PTI endorses this racism and abuse. Comments please

G) your comments indicate that the PTI will continue its belligerence with all the other major parties in Sindh and the Punjab. Comments please

Rupee News– your views are welcomed but whatever I wrote is a clear cut official policy stand and understanding of PTI on all question raised. Dabbir

Dabbir:

We appreciate the responses. Thank you Dabbir for taking your valuable time

On the eve of the Vietnam-type of US defeat Karzai is getting more and more confused.

Karzai supporters scared of the Mujahideen of yesteryear have put up posters of Daud Khan and Najibullah in Kabul as symbols of Pakhtun power.

The Mayor of Kabul, Mr. Karzai is known as grip-man, crying over this that the other; the US occupation, the Talib excesses, Pakistan’s provocations, and lack of support from the Afghans—he has failed to provide the strategy, vision and leadership essential for the evolution of any consensus.

The High Peace Council under Salahuddin Rabbani, has failed.

After the drawdown in 2014 Afghanistan is looking past the lame-duck “Mayor of Kabul”. Mr. Karzai is pushing his brother Qayyum Karzai.

Bharat and the US are pushing for a Non-Pakhtun president–a sure recipe for another disaster in the land of the Pamirs.

The Tajiks (former Northern Alliance members–are supported by Bharat) are divided into two broad fronts: one led by the former Vice-President, Ahmad Zia Massoud, and the other by the former Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, and the former Speaker, Qanooni.

The Hazaras are led by the old Mujahideen leader Mohaqiq. The enduring Uzbek leader Dostum continues to be a powerbase in the North.

Then there is the Talibs–wich control most of Afghanistan.

Karzai chest thumping on the Durand Line is an attempt to refurbish his image–seen as too little too late. The Mayor of Kabul knows that Afghanistan cannot play the anti-Pakistan card beyond a point. His present approach of seeking to bypass the Talibs, which effectively means putting Pakistani interests aside, will fail.

The Mayor’s strategy is ineffectual especially since Islamabad has established deep contacts with non-Pakhtun groups too.

It is pedaggocal to that ther is a serious flight of capital from Afghanistan–so much so that prices of real estate in Kabul have hit the 50% mark–meanshile prices in Peshawar are hitting the roof. As a side note, the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) from Kabul to Peshawar will help Imran Khan’s PTI.

Bharat hope to continue its arts and crafts activities, even though most of its older projects have failed to materialize. It still dreams to establish an agricultural university in Talib controlled Qandahar.

There are delusions of the revival of the India-Afghanistan strategic partnership agreement.

The Khyber is on the cusp of change but we dont see blue skiles. Mr. Karzai acts like a spoilt brat who has no future. Perhaps he should remembered the lessons learned which he was in self-imposed exile in Quetta.

Pakistan has been busy with a gut-wrenching election so the leaders and the government have been ignoring his foul mouth. Within the next few days he will feel an attitude adjustment!

As a candidate riding the wave of hope and change –Obama wrote:

“The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation … History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch.”

Now that Obama is the president, he has changed his tune. He is attacking Pakistan without permission from the UN or the US Congress.

Obama’s atrocious behavior has been condemned by the UN and thousands of Americans.

Major US newspapers are baring their teeth and unearthing the facts about the illegality of the drone strikes. The Washington Post says:

Last month, Jonathan Landay of the McClatchy News Service, relying on leaked intelligence reports, detailed what is probably the worst kept secrets in Washington – namely that US drone strikes in Pakistan are not targeting al-Qaida leaders, but rather militants who are crossing the border into Afghanistan.

This is problematic for two reasons. First, it contradicts repeated Obama administration assertions that drone strikes only target members of al-Qaida or those who pose an “imminent threat” to the United States. Taliban militants, while perhaps up to no good, don’t fall into either category.

Second, the targeting of Taliban foot soldiers, in Pakistan, is not covered under the Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF) that was passed by Congress in 2001. Thus, they are almost certainly illegal – not just under US law, but also under international law.

It further states the following:

To be sure, US attacks on Afghan militants certainly have the outward appearance of legality and appropriateness (these militants are after all crossing the Afghan border to kill American soldiers). But the same could be said about US attacks on Cambodia during the Vietnam War, actions that were included in then-president Richard Nixon’s impeachment charges by the House of Representatives. This isn’t to suggest that Obama should be impeached over such actions, but a bit more congressional scrutiny is in order.

Legal justification for the use of American military force is not a mere nicety – it is a requirement of the US Constitution and stands as a bulwark against the misuse of executive power. By all accounts the Obama Administration has now fought two wars that certainly could be considered illegal – one in Libya and today, one in Pakistan.

What does all this mean? Will the Obama Adminstration halt of slowdown the drones?–especially if the government of Pakistan makes it clear tha that there is no “wink and nod”. It appears that PM-Elect Nawaz Sharif may do exactly that.

There are signs that Foreign Secretary Kerry is already working to limit the strikes and reduce them. In exchange, Kerry is looking for help in Afghanistan in stitching together a peace plan for Kabul

Mr. Nawaz Sharif, must have felt very silly–when he got the Singh response to his gestore of goodwill.

The Prime-Minister elect, Mr. Nawaz Sharif has been snubbed by the Bharati Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who on Tuesday declined the invitation of Nawaz Sharif to attend his oath taking ceremony. Nawaz Sharif has sent out the invitation to his counterpart as a gesture to further the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Bharati media, under pressure from the right wing parties like the BJP said that it is highly unlikely that Manmohan Singh would visit Pakistan. The BJP has already criticized Manmohan Singh for congratulating inviting Sharif to Delhi.

Sharif had a “long chat” with his counterpart. In 1999, when he was the PM, Sharif stood at the frontier post waiting to welcome the BJP PM Vajpayee – who was coming to Wagah on a bus.

The PTI has challenged the results in 50 polling districts and Imran Khan said that the results are being questioned in 25 polling areas. Even though there are more than 50 areas in which the number of voters is more than 100%–the ECP has only focused on NA 250 in Karachi. The ECP has ignored the discrepancies in the other areas of Pakistan. The 2013 elections are over, yet the spillover of corruption and incompetence has to be cleared. It may take a few weeks or months to clean the mess. The elections wiped out the PPP and the ANP. It also sequestered the PTI to KP, the PPP to Sindh, and the PMLN to the Punjab.

It is also essential to replace the current system of accepting the winners — and substitute the First-Past-The-Post system (FPTP).

Of all the parties, the PTI has suffered from “majoritarianism” and lost the elections. In Lahore they got 20% to 25% of the votes, yet did not get any seat. In the Punjab they got about one third of the votes, but the number of seats that they got does not reflect that.

The FPTP “Majoritarianism” system works against the smaller parties and newer parties which get poorly represented or go unrepresented in the National Assembly. The Jamaat-e-Islami faces the brunt of Majoritarianism. This time the PTI faced it also.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan in its judgment in JUne 2011 (the Workers Party Pakistan case) observed that the FPTP system “violates the principle of majority (rule)” and asked the ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) to explore ways and means of introducing an appropriate system of election which better reflects the choice of the voters. However this edict of the Supreme Court was not implementation, and majoritarianism reared its ugly head in this election.

In almost all the polling areas, the PMLN candidate may or may not have gotten the majority of the votes–yet they became winner under the current system of majority takes all. The problem with this sort of elections is that if there are four candidates and each gets 20% of the votes, the one who gets 21% of the votes wins–even though 60% of the electorate opposes the “winner”. In Germany and many European country, forces the candidate to get a majority of the votes before being declared a winner.

This problem of majoritarianism exists within each province and then exists at the macro level.

The PMLN won the elections in —well they won the elections in Punjab and hence have a mandate to rule the rest of the country.

The euphoric crowds celebrating the elections shows the works the resilience of the Pakistani nation. Nothing, nothing and nothing can keep the people of Pakistan. Neither nincompoop rulers forced on them, nor the deliberating energy crisis, nor the dastardly attacks on its citizens.

Tomorrow is Election Day. Things will change, the status quo has already been defeated.

Tomorrow a new sun rises and a new moon will welcome the future.

Whether its the inqalab or its the Naya Pakistan–the rulers know that they have to perform. They will!

At least we haven’t seen on yet

GEO has spent the most money in setting up a snazzy election center which reminds us of CNN a few years ago. Kamran Khan and others could have assembled a very robust team, but they chose to stay cerebral–even though it is full backed by comedians from the Lahore theater. GEO is left leaning.

ARY has not spent as much money, but Waseem Badami has indeed taken the lead in assembling a fiery team of anchors (Bhatti, Mubbashir, Abbasi, Gahuri and Satti etc) which is feisty and full of energy. ARYs election coverage also has the advantage of a lot of discussion which is making it lively. However the obnoxious background music stolen from CSI is anti-climactic and distracting. The music comes into play when the crime has been solved. Here is it saddening irritating. ARY is left leaning.

Express News owned by the NYT and funded via ads by the BBC has made a feeble affect, at an election cell–has powerful anchors (Cahudry, Hussain, Abbas)–all with a colossal liberal tilt that supports US interests.

Aaj’s oergage is there, but we dont find it fascinating.

TV One is useless–as alway.

We will keep on updating.

At least for now, Rupee News’s election cell votes for the ARY network.

PLEASE DO VOTE!

“China increasingly targeting nations in our immediate neighbourhood is a matter of concern,” Bharati intelligence services

“The Government… may also plan substantial investment in the Maldives on similar projects [as being planned by China] ensuring that the traffic between India and the Maldives is handled through the equipment installed and commissioned in the Maldives by India.” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)

“The proposed project assumes significance due to the fact that China can capitalise its influence over the Maldives to utilise the latter’s network once the project is implemented.” RAW

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/alarm-over-growing-chinese-presence-in-maldivian-it-telecom-sectors/article4329846.ece

Who was behind the recent Indo-Maldivian tensions in the recent past? Who threw out the Bharati puppet Nasheed? Who was behind the expulsion of the Bharati airport construction company, and Tata?

US gets another base in the Asian Ocean (fka Indian Ocean)

Surprise! Surprise!

Many of the answers to these questions can be found in the admission that the US has signed a Status-of-Forces Agreement (SOFA) agreement with the Maldives which gives it a military base in the Maldives.

Here is a hint of what was coming– A US-Maldives joint military training exercise held in Addu from October 6-17, 2012.

This would be America’s biggest acquisition in the Asian Ocean after it got hold of Deigo Garcia from Britain.

The US diplomacy has brilliantly cashed in on the Indo-Maldivian tensions –real or orchestrated. It has thus thrown out Bharat. Delhi traditionally thought of the Maldives’ as part of its national security calculus.

This Tuesday, State Department’s South and Central Asia assistant secretary Robert Blake played down the importance of the SOFA. He lied Unabashedly “We do not have any plans to have a military presence in Maldives.” Sending chills up the Bharati establishment he lied some more”I want to reassure everybody that this SOFA does not imply some new up-tick in military co-operation or certainly does not apply any new military presence. It would just be to support our ongoing activities.”

He then contradicted himself with the truth saying that SOFA “incorporates the principal provisions and necessary authorizations for the temporary presence and activities of United States forces in the Republic of Maldives and, in the specific situations indicated herein, the presence and activities of United States contractors in the Republic of Maldives.”

The draft SOFA says, “The Republic of the Maldives authorizes United States forces to exercise all rights and authorities with Agreed Facilities and Areas that are necessary for their use, operation, defense or control, including the right to undertake new construction works and make alterations and improvements.”

SOFA specifies: “The Republic of the Maldives authorizes United States forces to exercise all rights and authorities with Agreed Facilities and Areas that are necessary for their use, operation, defense or control, including the right to undertake new construction works and make alterations and improvements.”

-Maldives would “furnish, without charge” to the US unspecified “Agreed Facilities and Areas”,

–”Such other facilities and areas in the territory and territorial seas of the Republic of Maldives as may be provided by the Republic of Maldives in the future.”

–The US would be authorized to “control entry” to areas provided for its “exclusive use,” and would be permitted to operate its own telecommunications system and use the radio spectrum “free of cost to the United States”.

–The U.S. would gain access to “aerial ports, sea ports and agreed facilities for transit, support and related activities; bunkering of ships, refuelling of aircraft, maintenance of vessels, aircraft, vehicles and equipment, accommodation of personnel, communications, ship visits, training, exercises, humanitarian activities.”

For details see:

http://www.dhivehisitee.com/images/US-Maldives-SOFA-draft.pdf

The SOFA is usually an integral part of the overall military bases agreement that allows U.S. military forces to operate within the host country.

Each SOFA is negotiated separately with the host country (although the United States has a multilateral SOFA with NATO members).

A Status of Forces Agreement contains a complex package of treaties, protocol, and executive agreements between the United States and the individual country involved.

It defines the rights and duties of U. S. service personnel, civilian components, and their dependants while they are stationed in that foreign country.

The agreements are by no means identical in all countries. To a large measure, the differences in agreements resulted from the contrasting political realities that faced the negotiators of different countries.

Freedom of troop movements within the host country; Passport requirements; Criminal jurisdiction; Taxes Imposition of customs duties; Regulations covering driver’s licenses; Exchange privileges.

The SOFA try to regulate the relationship of the two countries in two ways.

First, they guarantee the armed forces adequate legal protection without infringing on the authority of the military command.

Second, they fully recognize the peacetime rights and responsibilities of the civilian authorities in the host countries.

The United States must receive consent from the host country to station troops on that foreign soil. We must also agree to the conditions under which our troops may remain. The original intent of the Status of Forces Agreements by the United States was to get the most favourable conditions from the host country for its own forces. The agreements apply to personnel belonging to the land, sea, and air armed forces, as well as civilian personnel accompanying an armed force.

Is he collateral damage?

Ensconced in a security cocoon both of them were happy to allow the drones to bomb the folks to smithereens.

Karma may have caught up with the both of them.

Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani, Yousuf Raza Gillani and PPP(P) candidate from PP200 in Multan was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The TTP is the prime suspect, though it could be local politicians or thugs taking revenge.

The usual useless moves were made a “Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the president also called upon relevant government agencies to get into action to recover the kidnapped Gilani safely and bring the culprits to book”.

If Gilani was kidnapped by the TTP, this would be their biggest prize. There is a war going on between the PPP and the TTP. One wonders what Gilani and Zardari think of the “Collateral Damage”?
