The Celtics overcame the Sixers last night 84-80 in what many are calling the ugliest game this season. The teams combined to miss 88 shots and the officiating was less than spectacular. Doug Collins gave the C’s all they could handle implementing some nice half court traps on the point guard-less team disrupting what is already a rough offense with out Rondo. The defensive scheme was so effective, the Sixers allowed 7 less free throws than their season average (28 vs 21) and went an astonishing 11 minutes without a foul in the first half.

At one point KG had the ball above the circle, play was stopped to asses a technical…on him.

The old guys ground out the win, though, by winning the third quarter 26-17, a trend becoming more and more apparent as the season rolls along.

Harangody was the only healthy Celtic to no play. Bradley got some first half action when Nate left to get his ankle re-taped. He had a few nice strips on defense and hit one of two shots but was mostly ineffective.

Ray was the only steady player over the entire game scoring 22 points with 4 rebounds and 6 assists in (gulp) 38 minutes. Shaq and Pierce got the fans and the team going in the fourth with some emphatic dunks and KG secured the victory blocking Iguodala at the rim with under a minute remaining.

The Celts have been fortunate with their schedule through their early injuries. They’ve yet to play the Lakers, Jazz or the Spurs. The one game against Dallas they lost. Miami is putting it together, Chicago also will be stronger the remaining two games. So more tests are on the way. Thankfully, more of the team is on it’s way also.

‘Tis the season of giving. The Celtics have given us fans plenty so far this season, so it’s time to give back. But what to get guys who can afford just about anything they might want? A serious dilemma for sure.

Second up on Santa Jp’s list is fan favorite Glen Davis. Here’s a guy who has given his all. He’s slimmed down. He’s developed a killer midrange shot. He’s learned how to use his body down low. Everything the team has asked of him, he’s done. Davis is going to get his pay day with his next contract. Danny gambled and got lucky this past off season, but given the way he’s playing this year, plenty of teams are going to offer up big bucks for Shrek.

Merry Christmas Glen, hope you enjoy this soon to be needed money belt.
