Pakar Sosial Politik, Prof. DR.

The Social Bookmark

It turns out that loads of social bookmarking, I know also from Mr. Brokencode. When the position is held Palembang Mayor Le Cocq de Ville, 1924, the idea of sticking it back and do a lot of effort to make it happen. However, until the term of office ends Le Cocq, even when the Dutch pull out of Indonesia, the project was never realized.

At the time of independence, the idea of sticking it back. Transitional Parliament of Palembang city back when it proposed the construction of the bridge, called the Musi Bridge by reference to na-ma Musi River earlier stops, at the plenary session held on October 29, 1956. This proposal is actually quite desperate because the budget is in the city of Palembang that will be the initial capital of only around Rp 30.000,00. In 1957, building committee was formed, consisting of Lord of War Command Military Region IV / Sriwijaya, Harun Sohar, and the Governor of South Sumatra, HA Bastari. Companion, Mayor of Palembang, M. Ali Amin, and Indra Caya. This team approach to the Bung Karno to support the plan.
The work done Provincial Government of South Sumatra and Palembang, which is fully supported by Kodam IV / Sriwijaya is then paid off. Bung Karno was then approved the proposed development. Because the bridge is planned to be built with each leg in the region and 16 Ilir 7 Ulu, which means the position in the city center, Bung Karno and then submit the requirements. Namely, the placement boulevard or park open at both ends of the bridge. Was performed in the appointment of corporate development executive, with the signing of the contract on December 14, 1961, at a cost of USD 4.5 million (at current exchange rates, the EUR 1 = USD 200.00).

Construction of this bridge started in April 1962, after obtaining approval from President Sukarno. Construction cost is taken from the Japanese war reparations fund. Not only the cost, even this bridge using experts from the country.

At first, this bridge, named after the Bridge Bung Karno. According to historian Djohan Hanafiah, naming it as a form of tribute to the President first. Bung Karno earnest desire of citizens to fight for Palembang, to have a bridge over the River Musi.

Inauguration of the use of the bridge conducted in 1965, as well as confirming the name of Bung Karno, as the name of the bridge. At that time, this bridge is the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. After the political upheaval in 1966, when the anti-Sukarno very strong, the bridge's name was changed to Ampera Bridge (Suffering of the People's Mandate).

Around the year 2002, there were discourses to return the name of Bung Karno, as the name of this Ampera Bridge. But this proposal did not receive support from the government and part of the community.

Feature Ampera Bridge
Initially, the center of the body of this bridge can be lifted upwards so that the mast passing underneath the bridge body is not stuck. The middle of the bridge can be removed with mechanical equipment, two each pendulum weights about 500 tons in two towers. The speed of his appointment about 10 meters per minute with a total time required to fully lift the bridge for 30 minutes.

At the center of the bridge is removed, the vessel with a width of 60 meters and with a maximum height of 44.50 meters, can pass the River Musi. When the center of the bridge is not raised, the maximum height that the vessel can pass under the bridge Ampera only nine meters from the surface water of the river.
Since 1970, the activities go up and down the middle of this bridge is not done anymore. The reason, the time used to lift the bridge is considered to disrupt the flow of traffic on it.

In 1990, the second pendulum weights on the bridge tower is lowered to avoid the collapse of both the burden of this ballast.

Musi River

Musi River
The total area of 400.61 km2 Palembang is administratively divided into 16 districts and 107 villages. Palembang is the capital city of South Sumatra Province with the boundaries of the north, east and west by Banyu Asin regency, while the south by Muara Enim regency.

Palembang is the natural state of the tropics relative valley, with an average temperature of most areas of the city of Palembang 21o-32o Celsius, rainfall 22-428 MML per year. Based on data from the Meteorological Station

In 2003 the average air temperature ranged from 23.9 º -32 º Celsius, 24.04 ° -32.60 ° Celsius (2004), 22.44 ° -33.65 ° Celsius (2005), 26.4 º -28.9 º Celsius ( 2006) and 21.2 º -35.5 º Celsius (2007). In 2007, the greatest precipitation falls in April with the amount of rainfall is 540 mm 3. While the humidity is the 2007 average of 80%, the average wind speed of 20 km / h with the largest direction of the northwest, and the average air pressure at sea level of 1009 mbar and in the mainland of 1007.5 mbar.

Protected areas in the city of Palembang can be classified into two types, namely forest (5.68%) and swamp (3.83%). For the forest itself consists of various types of land use, including the area of nature reserve (46.91 ha) and the cultural heritage area (21.75 ha).

Based on geological conditions, Palembang has a varied relief consists of a layer of alluvial soil and sandy loam. In the southern part of town, rock sand clay impermeable to water, north of clay rocks sand water-resistant, while the west a rocky clay gravel, sand clay is impermeable to water until the water-resistant.

In terms of hydrology, Palembang city split by the River Musi into two major sections called Seberang Seberang Ulu and Ilir. Palembang city has 108 tributaries. There are four major rivers that cross the city of Palembang. Musi River is the largest river with an average width of 504 meters (1350 feet wide in a circle of the longest Kemaro Island, and the shortest width of 250 meters located around the Musi Bridge II). All three other major rivers are the River Komering with an average width of 236 meters; Ogan River with an average width of 211 meters, and the River Keramasan with an average width of 103 meters. Aside from these major rivers there are other small rivers located in Seberang Ilir serve as urban drainage (there are 68 tributaries ± active). Small rivers have a wide range between 30-20 meters. In the flow of these rivers have built retention ponds, so it becomes part of the border river. Musi River water level is strongly influenced by the tides. In the dry season the river discharge decreased, so that the surface of the Musi River water reaches a minimum height. River flow patterns in the city of Palembang can be classified as a dendritic stream pattern, which means that a tree branch, which was formed by the flow of major rivers (the River Musi) as a tree trunk, while the tributaries as a tree branch. River flow patterns such as these reflect that, river flows through areas that have flat topography. With the same relative rock hardness (uniform) so that surface water (run off) become widespread, which will eventually form a pattern of river flow (river channels) that spreads to river catchment area (catchment area).

The function of the river in Palembang was previously as a means of river transport to the hinterland, but now has undergone many changes, among others, functions as a drainage and for flood Pengedalian. The function of the tributaries which was originally a water catchment area, has been stockpiled for many social interests that change its function into settlements and other economic activity centers, where the average rate over the function is estimated at ± 6% per year. In geomorphic landscape changes on geomorphic units in Palembang related to: the sedimentation of the river which is responsible for the siltation of rivers or the cause of the narrowing (bottle neck) as in the Mariana District of Seberang Ulu I; mining river sand or gravel on the riverbed, which will affect the deepening of the basin; utilization bentaran plains on the river to the settlements, rice fields and other activities that would impact the flow of streams and the presence of illegal deforestation in upstream areas.
Based on Spatial Palembang 1999-2009, approximately 30% of the total area of Palembang is a swamp which consists of marsh and swamp reclamation protection. Swamp the existing structures in the city of Palembang is also influenced by the tides of the Musi River and other rivers that empties into the River Musi. Swamp geomorphic unit is generally characterized by the formation of a larger basin, with a relatively shallow depth, relatively stagnant pool of water (which is not stagnant flow, all time), and even in some locations also found marsh areas that have been dried or not watering except in rainy season. Geomorphic unit marsh dominated much of the region, especially the Western, Eastern region, the Seberang Ulu I, and Seberang Ulu II Palembang. In this unit also found some relatively deeper depressions when compared to some of the surrounding area, and shape the landscape is overgrown by aquatic weeds, commonly called the "valley". This area is known for its water catchment area that is widely used for flood retention pond that is in the District of Ilir Barat I, Kambang iwak Gutters Ants in the district Ilir Timur I, retention ponds Siti Khodijah Hospital, retention pond next police chief and retention ponds in the district Kenten East Ilir II.

Topography of Palembang, in general is low with an average altitude of + 4-12 meters above sea level, with the composition: 48% of land is not waterlogged plains, 15% of the land is seasonally inundated and 35% of land were flooded continuously throughout the season. Location of the highest areas in the Hill District Seguntang Ilir Barat I, with a height of about 10 meters above sea level. While the condition of the lowest in the Lais River area, District Ilir Timur II. Palembang city is divided into regions with tofografi leveled up with ramps, with slopes ranging from ± 0 - 3o and areas with undulating topography with slopes ranging between ± 2-10o. Most of the lowland city of Palembang is a gently sloping with an average height of ground + 12 meters above sea level, whereas areas bergelumbang found in several places like Kenten, Deny Bukit, Bukit Talang Siguntang and reed-Gandus.

There are differences between the topographic character Seberang Seberang Ulu and Ilir. Seberang Ulu region generally have a relatively flat topography and predominantly with the original soil is below the maximum high-water mark of the Musi River (± 3.75 m above sea level) except for lands that have been built and will be built where the ground has been hoarding and reclamation. Seberang Ilir section area found that the variation of topography (elevation) from 4 m to 20 m above sea level and found that the uses of micro and valleys of the "continuous" and there are no steep topography. Thus the topographical aspect in principle no limiting factor for the development of space, either a large slope or slope.

History of Palembang (Part 9)

According to Chinese records king of Palembang by the name Ma-na-ha-Pau-lin pang send envoys facing the Chinese emperor in 1374 and 1375.Maharaja this is probably the last king of Palembang, Palembang before it was destroyed by the Majapahit in 1377. Likely Parameswara and his followers migrated to the peninsula, where he stopped first to the island and founded the kingdom Temasik Singapore. The island was abandoned after he fought against the people of Siam. From Singapore he moved to the peninsula and established the kingdom of Melaka. According to the inscription that dates to June 16 682. At that time the ruler of Srivijaya was founded Wanua in the area now known as the city of Palembang. According to the topography, the city is surrounded by water, even submerged by water. Water is sourced either from rivers or swamps, as well as rainwater. Even today the city of Palembang, there are still 52.24% of land are inundated by water (data of Statistics 1990). Likely due to this condition then the ancestors of the people of this city named this city as Pa-Pa dent in the Malay language as a word or Pe designate a place or situation, while coquettish meaning hollow or low ground, the valley swollen with long roots submerged in water (according to Malay dictionary), whereas according to the Malay-language Palembang, dented or coquettish is a puddle of water. So Palembang is a place flooded by water.

This natural condition for the ancestors of the people of Palembang into their capital to exploit it. Water becomes a vital means of transportation, economical, efficient and have coverage and have a high speed. In addition to natural conditions, is also a strategic location of this city who are in a network capable of controlling the traffic between the three territorial unity:

High ground of West Sumatra, namely: Bukit Barisan Mountains.
Foothills or Piedmont region and meeting the kids of the river as he entered the lowlands.
Northeastern seaboard.

All three territorial integrity is a very local factors in pattern formation locate the bad culture that is civilization. Local factors that form a network and commodities with high-frequency have been formed earlier and managed to encourage local people to create the growth pattern of high culture in South Sumatra. Local factor is what makes the capital of Srivijaya Palembang, which is a political and economic power in the classical age in Southeast Asia. Sriwijaya glory taken by the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam Sultanate at the time as a respected middle area of the archipelago

1256976844.jpgSriwijaya, as well as other forms of government in Southeast Asia at that time, the shape is known as port-polity. Understanding Port-polity simply began as a redistribution center, which gradually took over some form of increased progress contained in the broad spectrum. Growth center of a Polity is entreport generating additional wealth and cultural contacts. These results were obtained by local leaders. (In terms of Sriwijaya was called the datu), the result is the basis for the use of economic power and political control in Southeast Asia.

There are interesting posts from Chronic China Chu-Fan-Chi written by Chau Ju-Kua in the 14th century, tells of Srivijaya as follows: The country is situated in the southern Sea, control of traffic in the Strait of foreign trade. In ancient times the port using an iron chain to hold the pirates who intend evil. If there is foreign boats coming, the chain was lowered. Once the situation is safe again, the chain was removed. The boats passing by without stopping dipelabuhan surrounded by boats and attacked the royal property. All crew-boat crews brave death. That is why the country into a shipping center.

Surely many more stories, legends and even myths about Sriwijaya. China's foreign sailors such as Chinese, Arabs and Persians, which records all the stories perisitiwa whenever they see and with. If the sailors Arabs and Persians, describes the state of the Musi river, which Palembang is located, is like a city in Tiggris. Palembang city they are portrayed very large city, where if you enter the city, the crow of roosters do not stop bersahut-replication (within the meaning of the cock crowing to follow the rising sun). Stories of their journey filled with magic night 1001. Sailors China recorded more realistic about the city of Palembang, where they saw how kehiduapan city dwellers who live on rafts free of tax. As for the leader of home life dry ground above the colonnaded house. They spell the name of Palembang in accordance with their tongues and their script. Palembang referred to or spoken of them as Po-lin-fong or Ku-kang (meaning old port). After experiencing the glory-century century-7 and 9, the 12th-century dikurun Sriwijaya decay slowly. The collapse of Srivijaya, both because of competition with the kingdom in Java, the battle with the royal Cola from India and last fall was inevitable after the rise of the rise of Islamic kingdoms in the archipelago. Islamic kingdoms that had a small part of the kingdom of Srivijaya, developed into a great empire like those in Aceh and Peninsular Malaysia.
