This show is the most popular three day event of its kind in the Western United States.  Palos Verdes residents will enjoy the feel of an old fashioned hometown fair with food booths, boutiques, puppet shows, pony rides, animal shows, games, moon bounce and face painting. The Children’s Area is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday & Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. This event is sponsored by The Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Riding events will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day.  On Friday admission is free all day, but on Saturday and Sunday, general admission will be $10 and children under 12 are free.  Parking is free and is located directly across from the event, with free shuttle services. Palos Verdes youth STEAM Association will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library – Purcell Room. This meeting involves Science Experiment Instruction.

Unraveled: Fiber Arts Circle will take place at the Miraleste Library on all Mondays during August, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. This is a chance to bring your projects and join the group for a morning of stitches and chit chat. All fiber arts and skill levels are welcome.

Board Games for Adults takes place on Monday, August 20, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library – Purcell Room. Join your neighbors for a friendly game of chess , checkers, Scrabble and other board games. No reservations required; just drop in.

Playtime at the Library takes place at Miraleste, Peninsula Center & Malaga Cove Libraries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Playing helps babies and toddlers get ready to read, and they have a special playtime just for them. Drop by anytime between 10:00 and noon to explore amazing toys, check out some great books and make friends. Aimed at children 5 years and younger and their parent or caregiver.

Lets Talk Music! A listen and discuss program of select albums and artists. This enjoyable group will meet on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library – Purcell Room.

Tech Knows will take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Malaga Cove Library Community Room.

Brain Health with the Alzheimer’s Association will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. They will be discussing healthy behaviors such as physical & cognitive exercise and nutrition have a powerful impact on brain health. Learn how to implement these lifestyle changes to help prevent cognitive decline as you age.

Monthly Movie will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. The movie this month will be “Niagara” (1953).

• Consider dropping off a note of appreciation at the PVE Police Department or Fire Department
• Meet a neighbor that you don’t already know
• Gather your neighbors for a front yard or driveway potluck

Getting to know our neighbors is our most powerful tool in keeping a safe and connected neighborhood. It is a great way to enhance neighborhood watchfulness and security. It’s also a good way to build friendships and get recommendations for vendors and suppliers for security items or home renovation.

Be a Part of Promoting Community Safety

Another great way to be engaged in neighborhood safety is to be a member of PVE Neighborhood Watch. Your $10 membership dues help them to fund educational programs and create social events throughout the year. Neighborhood Watch also helps support our PVE Police Department by providing meals for those that work on Christmas and Thanksgiving days. This has been a PVE Neighborhood Watch tradition for many years and is greatly appreciated.

2026 1st half Palos Verdes homes sales for Lunada Bay/Margate neighborhood increased to 32 single family homes sold compared to 24 for the same period in 2025.  Price per square foot for Lunada Bay/Margate houses that sold in 2026 decreased to $1,022 compared to $1,090 in 1st half of 2025, a 6.3% decrease.  Average sales price for Lunada Bay/Margate homes sold in 2026 1st half was $3,572,130 compared to $3,349,042  in 1st half of 2025. The most expensive home sold for $9,700,000 and the lowest priced home sold for $1,795,000.

Currently, Lunada Bay/Margate has 14 active Palos Verdes homes for sale. There are 14 single family homes ranging in price from $1,938,000 for a 4 bedroom/3 bath, 2,436 square foot home, to $9,999,000 for a 6 bedroom/9 bath, 8,155 square foot home.  There are no condo/townhomes for sale at this time.

Guided Nature Walk: Experience the Beauty of Abalone Cove Reserve on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. You will experience breathtaking cliffside views within recently restored wildlife habitats. Keep an eye out for seabirds and dolphins with the help of experienced guides. This is considered an easy walk. Park in the lot at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park located at 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes. Sign up at pvplc.org/calendar.

Trail Crew Introductory Class will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to noon. Discover how to create wildlife habitat with volunteers as a Team Leader for the Outdoor Volunteer Days. As a team leader, you will gain experience and share it with restoration teams of volunteers on Saturday or Sunday mornings across preserved natural lands on the Peninsula. Training will be held at White Point Nature Center, located at 1600 W. Paseo Del mar, San Pedro. You must be 16+ or older. Sign up at pvplc.org/calendar.

Guided Nature Walks

George F Canon Discovery Walk will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Naturalists will guide you along a trail through the preserve to discover unique wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Park in the dirt lot on the west side of Palos Verdes Drive East about 400 feet south of Palos Verdes Drive North. Meet at the Stein Hale trailhead. Sign up at pvplc.org/calendar.

Where Sea Meets Sky: Coastal Birdlife Walk will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., at the White Point Nature Center. This is a free bird walk with an experience naturalist, and binoculars are provided. The center is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Explore the Hidden Gems of the White Point Nature Preserve on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Naturalists will guide you along a trail (with amazing views across to the ocean) to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat. Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Preserve parking is available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. Native Plant Wonders: Guided Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the White Point Nature Plant Garden. Step into the beauty of the White Point Native Plant Garden and discover the wonders of California’s native flora. On this guided tour, you’ll learn expert tips on growing and caring for native plants, explore the vibrant garden habitats, and see firsthand how native plants support local wildlife. Perfect for gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone curious about sustainable landscaping. Meet at the White Point Nature Education Center and take home ideas to make your own garden a native plant paradise. Located at 1600 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro.

For The Kids

Storytime Trails – Brave Butterflies at the White Point Nature Education Center will take place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join at the White Point Nature Education Center for fun stories about the cool critters that live on the nature preserve with crafts and hands-on activities. Recommended for kids ages 3-6 and their caregivers.

Nature Club for Kids – Digging into Rocks & Fossils at the White Point Nature Education Center will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for a rocks and fossils themed Nature Club. They will learn about being a geologist and paleontologist while doing fun activities and crafts. This is for ages 3 to 10.

Plant Sales:

Bring Nature Home: Native Plant Sales will take place at George F Canyon on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The native plant expert will give you professional tips on creating a garden way station and home for local species! Park on the west side of PV Drive East just about 400 feet uphill from the intersection of PV Drive North.

Native Plant Sale at White Point Nature Education Center will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The address is 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Hands-On Conservation

Alta Vicente Reserve Outdoor Volunteer Day will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Help us to restore habitat on the 22 acre restoration site for rare native birds (the cactus wren and California gnatcatcher) and rare native butterflies (Palos Verdes Blue and El Segundo Blue). Enjoy ocean breezes and observe beautiful view of Catalina Island on site. Students can receive community service hours. Register at  pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Lunada Canyon in the Agua Amarga Reserve will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Join the canyon restoration site to help restore coastal sage scrub habitat and increase host plant resources for the rare and endangered Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly. Students can receive volunteer service hours. Register at pvplc.volunteerhub.com

White Point Nature Preserve Outdoor Volunteer Day will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. You will be working to maintain the preserve’s restoration area of native plant species to improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve and beautify outdoor natural space for the community. Students can receive community service hours. Register at  pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Help establish a thriving native habitat at the future George F Canyon Nature Education center site on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Help to restore and improve critical habitat for wildlife by helping plant native plants, prepare native seeds, water native plants and/or remove invasive plants. Share Your Love of Nature

Inspire the Next Generation as a Nature Education Docent by sharing your love of nature on the Peninsula with students and nature center visitors. For more information, contact Holly Gray at hgray@pvplc.org. This is for 18 years +.

Be a Nature Influencer: Looking for a meaningful way to give back, meet new people, and spend more time outdoors? Then join the Community Outreach Team. The City of Rolling Hills posted the largest gain in average sales price ($1,133,886) for Palos Verdes homes – $4,984,286 for the first half of 2026 compared to $3,850,400 in the first half of 2025 for a 29.5% gain, followed by Malaga Cove ($1,057,996 gain or 32%) and Monte Malaga ($479,500 gain or 16%).  All other Palos Verdes neighborhoods had gains in average sales price the first half of 2026 except Palos Verdes Drive East, La Cresta an Crest.

Eight Palos Verdes neighborhoods posted gains in average square foot price in the first half of 2026.  Palos Verdes Drive South posted the largest gain in average square foot price for Palos Verdes homes sold – 19.8% increase to $829 from $755 in the first half of 2025 followed by Country Club’s 9.8% (increased to $829 in 2026 from $755 for the first half of 2025), and Malaga Cove’s 9.1% (increased to $1,199 in 2026 from $1,099 the first half of 2025).

Palos Verdes Drive North and Lunada Bay/Margate posted the largest number of Palos Verdes homes sold in the first half of 2026 – 37 Palos Verdes houses in Palos Verdes Drive North and 32 homes in the Lunada Bay/Margate neighborhood.  Lunada Bay/Margate, Palos Verdes Drive North and Mira Catalina all posted the biggest gain (8) in home sales – Lunada Bay/Margate 32 homes in the first half of 2026 compared to 24 homes in 2025, Palos Verdes Drive North 37 homes in the first half of 2026 compared to 29 homes in 2025, and Mira Catalina 15 homes in the first half of 2026 compared to 7 homes in 2025.  Eastview/RPV had the largest decrease in the number of Palos Verdes homes sold the first half of 2026 – 18 homes in 2026 versus 29 homes in the first half of 2025.
