										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy has many exciting events for the community during the month of May. Included are Native Plant Nursery &amp; Seed Farm Tour, Where Sea Meets Sky, Nature Walks, Guided Garden Tour, Story Time Tails, Nature Club for Kids, Native Plant Care &amp; Sales, and Volunteer opportunities for everyone. Most of the preserves and the White Point Nature Center &amp; George F Canyon Centers are open. In order to keep all these areas open, volunteers are needed to help restore and maintain the beauty of Palos Verdes. Today in the Volunteer Activities you can find additional opportunities to help our reserves.</p>
<p><strong>Special Events</strong></p>
<p>Guided Nature Walk at the Land Conservancy&#8217;s Native Plant Nursery &amp; Seed Farm Tour will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Take a rare visit behind the scenes at the Conservancy&#8217;s native plant nursery and seed farm dedicated to habitat restoration across the Peninsula. Explore the surrounding habitat and learn about the Conservancy&#8217;s work to support rare local species. Easy to moderate walk. <p><strong>Guided Nature Walks</strong></p>
<p>Where Sea Meets Sky: Coastal Birdlife Walk will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Meet in front of White Point Nature Education Center for a free bird walk with an experienced naturalist. Binoculars will be provided. 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.</p>
<p>Explore the Hidden Gems of the White Point Nature Preserve on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Naturalists will guide you along a trail (with amazing views across to the ocean) to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat. Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Preserve parking is  available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. <p>Native Plant Wonders: Guided Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the White Point Nature Plant Garden. Step into the beauty of the White Point Native Plant Garden and discover the wonders of California&#8217;s native flora. On this guided tour, you&#8217;ll learn expert tips on growing and caring for native plants, explore the vibrant garden habitats, and see firsthand how native plants support local wildlife. Perfect for gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone curious about sustainable landscaping. Meet at the White Point Nature Education Center and take home ideas to make your own garden a native plant paradise. Located at 1600 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro.</p>
<p><strong>For The Kids</strong></p>
<p>Nature Club for Kids -Birds will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the White Point Nature Education Center for a bird themed Nature Club. They will do fun crafts and observe birds in their natural habitat. This is for ages 3 to 10.</p>
<p><strong>Outdoor Volunteer Activities</strong></p>
<p>Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. You can join the conservancy to volunteer on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping restore wildlife habitat. Students can receive community service hours. Register at  <a href="http://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">pvplc.volunteerhub.com</a>.</p>
<p>Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point which will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. You will be working to maintain the preserve&#8217;s restoration area of native plant species to improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve and beautify outdoor natural space for the community. Students can receive community service hours. Register at  <a href="http://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">pvplc.volunteerhub.com</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Plant Sales:</strong></p>
<p>Native Plant Sales will also take place at White Point Nature Education Center on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:30 a.m.to noon for another chance to get some native plants.</p>
<p><strong>Nature Ambassadors: Join the Community Outreach Team </strong></p>
<p>Inspire the Next Generation as a Nature Education Docent by sharing your love of nature on the Peninsula with students and nature center visitors. For more information, contact Holly Gray at hgray@pvplc.org. This is for 18 years +.</p>
<p>Voices for Nature: Become a Community Outreach Volunteer and be part of the outreach team at community events around the South Bay and greet participants at our free monthly guided nature walks. No experience is needed and flexible schedule. For more information, contact Lynn Rotunno, at lrotunno@pvplc.org.  This is open to ages 18+.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>2025 <strong>Palos Verdes homes</strong> sales for Country Club increased to 30 single family homes sold compared to 28 in 2024.  Price per square foot for Country Club houses that sold in 2025 decreased to $789 compared from $832 in 2024, an 5.2% decrease.  Average sales price for Country Club homes sold in 2025 was $2,678,935 compared to $2,667,243 in 2024.  The most expensive home sold for $5,200,000 and the lowest priced home sold for $1,850,000.</p>

<p>Currently, Country Club has 4 active Palos Verdes homes for sale.  There are 2 single family homes for sale starting at $2,600,000 for a 3 bedroom/3 bath, 3,257 square foot home to $3,900,000 for a 5 bedroom/5 bath, 3,703 square foot home. There are 2 condo/townhomes for sale starting at $459,000 for a 1 bedroom/1 bath, 728 square foot condo/townhome, to $899,000 for a 3 bedroom/2 bath, 1,358 square foot condo/townhome.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Palos Verdes homes owners can enjoy the 55th annual <strong>Palos Verdes Antiques Show &amp; Sale</strong> at St. Francis Episcopal Church.  This year&#8217;s show will feature top dealers from Northern and Southern California who will display their items in antique booths, with a dazzling array of jewelry, classic furniture, silver, prints, china, pottery, rugs and more.  In addition to the antiques, the show features the Harvest Cupboard with tasty homemade offerings, Garden Gazebo with plants and ornaments and Patio Luncheons and English Afternoon Tea. Admission is $10 with return privileges and parking is free. The antique show will run from Thursday, May 28, through Saturday, May 30, 2026.</p>
<p>If you would like to attend the Opening Night Preview Party &#8220;<strong>Fiesta de Antigüedades</strong>&#8221; it will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 presale, or $75 at the door.</p>
<p>At the Antique Show itself, there is a $10 donation to enter and that does not include food.  The hours are Thursday &amp; Friday, May 28 to 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 30, 2026, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Parking is always limited, so you may want to come early.  The Antique Show &amp; Sale proceeds support the mission and outreach programs of St. Francis Church.</p>

<p>The Palos Verdes Art Center is back with its 22nd PVAC Dream House Raffle.  This year&#8217;s dream prize is a beautiful Ocean View Estate looking over the Pacific Ocean or $3,000,000 cash.  This Dream House features sweeping panoramic ocean views, and exceptional craftmanship. This is the 22nd year it has given away millions in cash and prizes.  The money raised continues to fund the Center’s exhibitions and educational programs. Funds raised by the Palos Verdes Dream House Raffle directly support PVAC programs such as ‘Special Mornings,’ which offers special needs students from the Los Angeles Unified School District a chance to explore the world of art through personalized instruction and projects. Funds raised also benefit The Studio School, which teaches year-round art classes to adults and children, and support our annual program of curated art exhibitions.</div>

<p>The donation for a raffle ticket is still $150 for one, 3 pack for $400, and a 5 pack for $600. As in past raffles, there are special drawings for buyers who purchase tickets early.  Tickets purchased by  May 22, 2026, will be eligible for the first Early Bird Drawing (Early Bird #1) on May 29, 2026 at approximately 5:30 p.m.  The same format will be followed for the second Early Bird Drawing (Early Bird #2) for tickets purchased by midnight Friday, June 5, 2026, and all will be included in the second Early Bird Drawing on Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m. at PVAC.</p>
<p>Multiple tickets purchased by the stated deadlines will be eligible for both Early Bird Drawings and the Multiple Ticket Drawing on that day.</p>
<ul>
<li>Early Bird drawing #1 will take place on May 29, 2026, for a new 2026 Mazda CX-90 PHEV or $50,000 cash (plus other prize levels).  Early Bird drawing #2 will take place on June 12, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. for a 2026 Mazda CX-90 PHEV or $50,000 (plus other prize levels).  There are also 5 multiple ticket drawings for $10,000 each (but you must purchase those when purchasing your entry tickets to get into the special drawings).  Final ticket purchases must be made by June 5, 2026, by midnight.  The bonus drawing tickets are available for $20 for 1, $50 for 3, or $75 for 6.   These multiple tickets must be purchased at the same time as your raffle ticket.</li>
</ul>
<p>The final Grand Prize Drawing will take place on June 26, 2026, at 5:30 p.m, and will be held at the Palos Verdes Art Center located at 5504 West Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes.</p>

<p>2025 <strong>Palos Verdes homes</strong> sales for West Palos Verdes increased to 22 single family homes sold compared to 14 in 2024.  Price per square foot for West Palos Verdes houses that sold in 2025 decreased to $856 compared from $927 in 2024, a 7.7 % decrease.  Average sales price for West Palos Verdes homes sold in 2025 was $2,676,673 compared to $2,474,857 in 2024.  The most expensive home sold for $6,300,000 and the lowest priced home sold for $1,784,000.</p>

At one time or another, we have all thought about the animals big and small that we call family here and what would happen to them in the event of an emergency. This informative event will take place at Ernie Howlett Park on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.</p>
<p>You will have the opportunity to hear about emergency preparedness presented by the Equine Responsive Team (ERT) here on the Peninsula. This health presentation will be given by local veterinarians with trailer loading demonstrations and more by the Los Angeles County Animal Care &amp; Control. There will be also equine resource and vendor booths. This event will equip horse owners, caretakers, and community members with essentials tools and knowledge to prepare for emergencies. From evacuation planning and trailer readiness to building equine emergency kits. Attendees will gain practical hands-on guidance while connecting with local responders and equine professionals.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Summer is arriving soon and <strong>Malaga Cove Art On The Lawn Shows</strong> announced their return season. At these great exhibits, you can meet with local artists and art collectors one weekend a month from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in a family friendly outdoor environment.  The shows will take place the following weekends: Saturday &amp; Sunday, May 9 &amp; 10, June 20 &amp; 21, July 11 &amp; 12, August 15 &amp; 16, September 12 &amp; 13, and October 10 &amp; 11, 2026.</p>
<p>The <strong>Palos Verdes Art Center</strong> invites the community to meet with many talented local artists from seven different art groups affiliated with the Center.  These groups are Artists Open Group, Pacific Arts Group, Paletteers, Pacific Arts Group, Peninsula Artists, Photographic and Digital Artists, Third Dimension and The Artists of Palos Verdes Studio. These artists will be exhibiting not only paintings, but also photographs, ceramic goods, and custom jewelry.  This is all made possible by the support of the City of Palos Verdes Estates.  The shows have been a tradition in the community for over 82 years.</p>
<p>Malaga Cove Plaza is located on Palos Verdes Drive West between Via Corta and Via Chico in Palos Verdes Estates.  While there, you can take in the historical architecture and landmarks, visit the local gift shop, and enjoy lunch at one of the two local restaurants.</p>

<p>2025 <strong>Palos Verdes homes</strong> sales for Palos Verdes Drive South decreased to 27 single family homes sold compared to 28 in 2024. Price per square foot for Palos Verdes Drive South houses that sold in 2025 decreased to $684 compared from $847 in 2024, a 19.3% decrease. Average sales price for Palos Verdes Drive South homes sold in 2024 was $1,970,365 compared to $2,081,207 in 2024.  The most expensive home sold for $6,550,000 and the lowest priced home sold for $873,500.</p>

<p>Currently, Palos Verdes Drive South has 23 active Palos Verdes homes for sale.  There are 15 single family homes for sale ranging in price from $1,200,000 for a 5 bedroom, 4 bath, 2,000 square foot home to $8,880,000 for a 4 bedroom, 6 bath, 6,208 square foot home. There are 8 condo/townhomes for sale ranging in price from $720,000 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,565 square foot condo/townhome, to $1,299,000 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,373 square foot condo/townhome for sale in this area.</p>
