There will be three performances this afternoon and last time I was there I saw face painting, balloons, roving entertainers and stilt walkers. So much to do.
Here is the list of performances scheduled for this afternoon, July 17th.

1-1:45pm Miryana Heath (The Princess and the Pea puppet show)

Here's some information on this amazing festival.
Burnaby’s largest community grass roots festival provides opportunities for fun and creativity for the whole family. The event promotes community pride by inviting and showcasing a variety of service and “helping” organizations and groups involved in arts and culture, heritage, sports, leisure, and the environment. Discovery Day addresses key municipal goals concerning leisure services and arts and culture, presenting a variety of music, live theatre, street performances, and interactive visual arts activities. Free.

We will be doing songs from the Pamela Sunshine CD Growing Up Green and I will have my instruments there for lots of audience participation! Kids and adults alike are invited to join in with the percussion instruments.

As the Firehall Arts Centre website says:
" Nothing would be the same without spring in Vancouver or BC Buds. Each and every May long weekend for seven seasons this inventive arts fair showcases all that makes the west coast what it is - a vibrant, creative, driving force. Mark you calendars and take in dance, theatre, music, play readings and more!

BC BUDS allows established and emerging artists to present new and experimental work while giving audiences an opportunity to explore and experience the arts in informal and unorthodox settings.

Enjoy theatre, dance, music and inter-disciplinary arts making magic and mayhem with performances taking place in the Firehall Arts Centre's stairwells, courtyard, hallways and on bicycles, while other artists perform outdoors, on sidewalks and in vans."

I will be performing on the new Courtyard Deck Saturday May 21 @ 2:30-2:50pm & Sunday May 22 @ 2:30-2:50pm. It would be great to see you there.

I will be singing songs from Growing UP Green at 11:10 just before the Kids Easter Egg Hunt. It is the perfect place to be sharing my upbeat songs on an environmental theme.
This will be a great day for getting out and joining with others to improve community and celebrate Earth Day and Easter, all at once.

The Earth Run Foundation is a charitable organization with a mandate to bring people together to...ward building a sustainable future. By engaging the private and public sector, we raise awareness and funding for local environmental organizations.

Through funding local initiatives, we help people improve the quality of life in their communities and for all residents on the planet. Cities around the world big or small can host an Earth Run by organizing a 5 or 10K community run/walk.

Earth Run's core values centre on bringing people together to create awareness and support for local environmental initiatives that help:

* build green communities
* protect wilderness environments
* protect wildlife
* promote sustainable lifestyles

So come on out and have a great time in Ambleside Park. Enjoy the beauty of the North Shore.

I am so happy today as I get to share stories and songs in two different Earth Day Celebrations.
This is what I love to do most in my life.

There is a Storytelling Tent in Memorial Peace Park in Maple Ridge for today's Celebrate Earth Day Event hosted by the CEED Centre. Jack Emberly and Dennis LeClerc will also be telling stories there.
I am on first things at 10:00 AM as I am then driving into Vancouver for the Evergreen Earth Day Event.

They too have a tent set up for music etc and I will be singing songs from my Growing Up Green CD there at 1:15. This is such an honour for me and I am so grateful to these organizations for all the hard work they put in to create these events for their communities.

I hope to meet lots of new friend in Vancouver and connect with many of my old Maple Ridge friends too. Happy Earth Day to all.

Peter Tam, fresh off his success with the Spirit Wood festival, is producing the show Spirit Fire, which he said is reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil without the aerial acrobatics.
“It’s a full production,” he said.
It is a smaller cast than Spirit Wood, but Tam said it is just as spectacular, with fire dancers and twirlers, among other elements.
“The whole atmosphere has a very powerful sound,” he said, “with drums and fire.”
Although fire is exciting, Tam said the elements of dance and music add more drama, and should draw the audience in.
“Some skills are involved,” he said, “but it contains a lot of dance elements.”
The theme of the Spirit festivals is the fusion of different artistic elements to create something new.
With a mix of different styles of music and dance, Tam said “each on its own is not as exciting as when you’re combining it together.”
“Heat is what we need in the middle of February,” he laughed.
Other performers include Pamela Sunshine, who is set to put on an interactive kids show Friday afternoon. “She is really something else,” said organizer Jetty Prins.
Residents can also send in a poem before the festival, that has never been read or performed, and there will be readings and a contest held during the night.
The event will go from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is free to attend. It will be held at centre court in Haney Place Mall and in Memorial Peace Park.
This New York Journal goes out to Libraries across North America.It is the world's largest reveiwer of books and multimedia for children and teens. Magic Puddle is thrilled to share this review with you.
"Growing Up Green. CD. approx. 33 min. Pamela Sunshine. 2010. $14.99. K-Gr 3–In re-releasing her album from the early 1990s in CD format, Pamela Southwell, aka Pamela Sunshine, has updated the arrangements of the 10 songs. Hailing from England and Canada, Southwell’s vocals are sweet and clear in such diverse musical styles as folk, bluegrass, and calypso. Several musicians give terrific performances on guitar, slide guitar, violin, and keyboards. Her environmental message comes through clearly in “Growing Up Green,” “On Your Bike,” “Garbage Free Sea,” “Turn Off the Tap,” “Ten Empty Pop Cans” (recycling), “Sun and Rain,” “Litter Matters,” “Home Sweet Homes” (animal habitats), “The Walking Song” (cumulative song), and “Very Green Song.” This pleasant album will enhance environmental resources for children."
So much for everyone at Burnaby Village, as well as strolling performers and games to play.

All of the music featured at Mom-Approved Tunes has been given the thumbs up by moms (and dads, too!) who actually enjoy it just as much as their kids do. No more headaches ....... Because believe it or not, there is an abundance of good children’s music out there.

Here is what they had to say,
Ideal for ages: 2-10
Recommended by: Mom-Approved Tunes
Growing UP Green is full of upbeat, singable songs for kids based on environmental themes such as habitat, recycling, and nature. So you won’t be too surprised to find that the artist’s name is Pamela Sunshine, a former teacher turned singer/songwriter who has performed throughout England and Canada.
One reviewer wrote of the album, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the whole world could listen to these sweet and simple tunes, take the message that each song contains, and put that message to use in their lives? It would make the world a better place.” We have to agree.

A new station has added music from the "Growing Up Green" CD to their playlist.
Preschool Radio was created "to give Moms, Dads and preschoolers something they can enjoy together (so they can)...sing...dance.. as a family."
We here at Magic Puddle are thrilled they included "Turn Off The Tap" in this weeks show.

We highly recommend this station to families looking for great music for their kids to listen too, the great music just keeps on coming. It is obvious that Preschool Radio's founder has created programming that is perfect for the under six set and those who love them.

Preschool Radio is made up of Lyn Micheals, a former morning show announcer who retired after 21 years in radio to raise a family. The Music Director (and frequent air staff member) is a true children's music expert, Lyn's "big girl" (now 6 years old), Ashe. And Lyn's former radio morning partner, Scotty Snipes, who has a brand new baby of his own, rounds out the team.
After looking around for a radio station that Lyn and Ashe could enjoy together, they discovered no one was playing music for preschoolers ...and Preschool Radio was born.

I am looking forward to going to Burnaby Village Museum over the next four days to tell stories and sing Christmas songs with children and families that visit this very special place.
I feel so privileged to get to share this special time with families. I love sitting in the special chair surrounded by Christmas trees lit up for the season, and surrounded by piles of wrapped presents, the perfect setting in the Stride Studios. Families wander in and take a seat to experience the gift of storytelling. I love asking the kids what story they would like the hear.

I have a collection of special Christmas stories, one about how the robins got their red breasts, and another about the little fir tree. Anna's Angel is very magical and I mix it up with traditional favourites such as the Three Billy Goats Gruff, or Masha and the Bear. It is a blessing to be able to tell these stories in this setting, to see the expressions on the children's faces and to share the stories that have been told for generations.

I connected with a soundscape artist while performing for the Very Vancouver Christmas Concerts and I am excited about collaborating with him and creating my storytelling CD, which has been on the back burner for a while. I was waiting for the right person to come along and this is a great opportunity to get my stories out there. I am so grateful for the magic that happens in life. So keep your eyes and ears open for the release of The Stories Of Three in 2011.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day and look forward to meeting lots of friends and families at Burnaby Village. I am there Dec. 27th until, Dec. 30th and all the times are on my events calendar in the side bar of this blog, or on my website.
I just discovered that Dave Loftin has been playing songs from Growing Up Green on his Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl.
It is a podcast that is described as 'a weekly music show for the whole family.'
You can hear Dave's shows on iTunes
