Pamporovo Village is now a winter ski wonderland for Christmas. Bulgaria's premiere ski resort Pamporovo has seen snow falls of 60cm in the last 3 days.

All Pamporovo Ski Slopes are reported as open and Pamporovo Village Chalets are surrounded by snow capped hills and forests.

We'd like to take the chance to all our guests, visiting us now, the past or in the future a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2012,

What a Weekend At Pamporovo Village Chalets

It's been a fantastic weekend at Bulgaria's Premiere Ski Resort Pamporovo and at Pamporovo Village Chalets. Our Quality Ski Chalets were fully booked with a great atmosphere.

Heres some of the press coverage for the Start of the season:

Bulgaria’s winter resort of Pamporovo opened its season on December 10 2011 with a ceremony attended by VIPS – and with slopes where nature had been given a helping hand by more than 120 snow-making machines.

VIP guests at the ceremony included Minister of Physical Education and Sports Svilen Neikov, Deputy Economy Minister Ivo Marinov and Olympic champion Ekaterina Dafovska, Bulgarian National Television said.

Access to facilities was free-of-charge on the opening day, and for the first two weeks of the season, access will cost 32 leva a day. After that, a day pass will cost 50 leva, with various discounts available, the report said.

Skier Petar Dichev told BNT that the tracks were well-made and the downhill slopes were free of hazardous stones.

The main influx of tourists expected for Christmas and New Year, according to a December 10 report by television station bTV.

The Economy Ministry said that the number of foreign tourists visiting the resort was expected to be about the same as last year.

BTV said that the winter resort of Bansko had welcomed its first tourists with a lack of snow and with daytime temperatures above zero degrees Celsius.

In Bansko, snow machines were in use.

Marketing manager Ivan Obreikov said that conditions at this time last year had been the same but the season had been generally satisfactory. There was a risk of a possible downturn because of the economic crisis, "but I’m hopeful," Obreikov said.

A few weeks ago, estimates were that there would be fewer British tourists, but currently this appeared not to be true, bTV said. Meanwhile, Bulgaria was relying on tourists from neighbouring countries to fill up its winter resorts.

"Bookings to date indicate that the levels of last year will be maintained," Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov said. He said that the number of visitors in winter last year was six per cent more than in the 2009 season. "So far, we have had an increase of five per cent before the season started," Traikov said.

The opening of the new ski season 2011-2012 in Pamporovo will be held on the 10th of December, at the foot of Snejanka peak. There's a massive increase in the number of snow cannons this season to 110, many of which work above freezing and production of artificial snow on the slopes has already started.

We at Pamporovo Village are expecting an increase of the number of tourists from Balkan countries such as Greece, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia and Bulgaria. We welcome them to Pamporovo Ski Resort.

Getting ready fror a new Season

It's all hands to the deck at Pamporovo Village at the moment as we prepare for a great ski season. There's loads of new stuff happening in Bulgaria's premiere ski resort to report including new ski lifts, new facilities and a host of new snow cannons.

There's lots of great updates at Villa's at Pamporovo Village that you can look forward to so watch this space.

Setting Off to Chalets at Pamporovo Village in a few

... hours time. Heard the snow in Pamporovo is great, the instructions to the team to get the chalet's open fire blazing for my arrival is sorted and all I need to do now before my flight to Plovdiv is get a few hours sleep. Which might be difficult given my excitement to be back in Pamporovo's most exclusive ski village.

I'll try and post when at Pamporovo Village, hopefully give an update of the Ski Conditions in Bulgaria, take some photos of Pamporovo Village and generally get the latest gossip on what's happening in Bulgaria's top Ski Resort.

Also looking forward to testing someone Else's snowboard on the new Pamprovo Ski Fun Park (no way am I tackling a rail on my Burton Custom X).

Andy Serkis keeps a Low Profile

I don't really do the celebrity thing - but news back from Chalets at Pamporovo Village is that one of my current favorite British actors was in town.

Andy Serkis who's played varied roles as Gollum in the Lord of The Rings, Ian Brady and more recently Ian Dury in the fantastic film Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll has spotted on the Pamporovo slopes. according to THIS NEWS REPORT Andy chose Pamporovo because of the peace and quiet of the resort, Pamporovos' good ski conditions, and the idea that hardly anyone will recognize him in Bulgaria.

Well he's right on the first two but perhaps underestimated how (rightfully) famous he is.

Rumours that Beyonce, Cheryl Cole, Lindsey Lohan, Brad Pitt and Angelina Joile have booked in at Chalets at Pamporovo Village remain unconfirmed ;)

Blessed with Snow

The snow faries have done a grand job overnight. Pamporovo Village is covered with snow, staff are working hard on clearing the paths to your Ski Chalet and are stocking up on wood for those glorious log fires.

The Pamporovo Village bar and restaurant needs to make sure that there's plenty of hot chocolate in stock (ok.. perhaps a little brandy) for an apres ski warmer.

Our Neighbour - Chepelare

At Chalets at Pamporovo Village we're 5 minutes away to the Pamporovo Ski Slopes. But let's not forget the neighbouring ski resort of Chepelare. Chepelare ski resort is just over 6 miles from Pamporovo and boasts the longest ski piste in Bulgaria.

More and more of our guests at Pamporovo Village, especially the more advanced Skiers and Boarders are visiting both mountains, which for even for the most advanced snow sports fan offers a wealth of challenges and great long runs.

Reports back from Chalets at Pamporovo Village say that the snow conditions at both Bulgarian Ski Resorts are great. There's more than enough runs for any skier or boarder but at a fraction of the cost of other Skiing destinations

Pamporovo Bargains for Food and Drink

Being savvy to the best bars, restaurants and best prices in Pamporovo will save you pounds, as well as ensure a fantastic apres ski experience.

Here's a few tips for good food and drink at prices that will amaze.

Firstly at the bottom of the Pamporovo Ski Slopes is the White Dog Pub. Best value on the mountain where food is cooked fresh and served with a smile. Great first thing for breakfast - full brekie Pamporovo style is around £4. Later around £1 a pint.

On the Pamporovo Ski slopes at Mid station is Bar Rossignol. Unlike other bars and restaurants on the Pamporovo Ski Slopes (some will charge you £9 for a pizza) you'll get a large pizza for around £3.50, compare that to anywhere outside Bulgaria and you'll struggle to get better value.

For Apres Ski Bulgarian style head back to the White Dog and it's neighbour The Markony. The later serves warm hearty stews, steaks, salads washed down with Kaminitza beer at £1 a pint.

Then when you arrive back at Chalets at Pamporovo Village Nick and the team serve a wealth of good honest Bulgarian Food with a side dish of a hearty welcome. £10 will pay for a good two course dinner with drinks.

The Webcams are looking great... Snow!!!!

Things have really picked up this year in Pamporovo Bulgaria. Ok the snows not been great in the past couple of weeks, but this year most of the runs are open and in great condition. Why?

There's a change of attitude it seems on maintaining the slopes. Reports back from Chalets at Pamporovo Village note that sking last week was great, mainly because of the many new snow cannons and fantastic piste management. It seems they've really got their act together now.

And then what happens... it tips it down with snow...big time.. Fantastic, have a look at the Pamporovo Webcams to see for yourself

Now's the time to book a week on the snow capped mountains at Pamprovo Village, a quality Ski Holiday at a low cost.

We're happy to announce a new addition to the leisure facilities at Chalets at Pamporovo Village. Here's the first images of the recently launched bar (thanks Fran and Mike). This is in addition to the traditional yet modern restaurant and bar on site. The new bar is looking very classy and is a perfect fit with the upmarket look and feel of Pamporovo Village.

I hope to capture some more pictures when I'm at Pamporovo Ski Village in March, perhaps we should meet up for a Kaminitsa.

Milan to Plovdiv and more British flights?

Perhaps the stylish atmosphere of Pamporovo village will be enhanced by the Milan set soon? Also there may be more flights from Stanstead to Plovdiv coming soon, a mere 60 to 90 minute transfer to your Pamorovo Village Ski Chalet.

"Irish company Ryanair announced that it will open a new twice-weekly service from Milan Bergano to Plovdiv in Bulgaria which will commence on 7 May.

Currently, Ryanair performs flights from Plovdiv Airport to Stansted Airport in London twice a week - on Tuesday and on Saturday. One-way fares start from GBP 32.99 including taxes. The flights provide easy access for Britons to the ski slopes of Bansko and Pamporovo. Ryanair said in 2010 that it may increase the number of flights to Plovdiv in the near future and will also consider the opening of lines from Bulgaria to Spain and Italy, where there are large numbers of Bulgarian immigrants.
Plovdiv became even more attractive for air companies as of April 1, 2010, when its fees were sharply reduced and now stand three times lower that the fees at the airport in the capital Sofia. The low fees will be in force for two years.
Bulgaria, which attracted a number of low-cost carriers thanks to its accession to the European Union and fast economic growth in the years right after its entry, is expected to continue to see the expansion of their market share."

Well it's all a buzz at Chalets at Pamporovo Village. Just heard back from one of our villa guests that a fun park with rails, and a massive kicker / jump has been built. This is great news for those who like a bit of a play on the Pamporovo slopes.

Ryanair flying to Plovdiv

Well after much rumour, speculation and general rattling of the monkey cage Ryanair are to spread their wings from Stansted to the beautiful city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second city. If you've not been to Plovdiv you don't know what you're missing - beautiful traditional architecture, wonderful artists quarter, museums, Roman ruins and amphitheatre, bars, clubs and restaurants and low prices.

Good news for Ski fans too, from the new Plovdiv airport you can get to Pamporovo in just over an hour which makes a cost effective week or long weekend in the snow even easier.
