SPX Registration Woes

This year the online registration failed so we all had to pay paypal and email the forms. Then they oversold and I have no idea if I got a table. However the refresh fest of everyone hitting the server turned into a hilarious time on Twitter as us cartoonist made jokes. We joke to not panic as much.

I take this as a sign that the DC area needs more indie comic cons. Hell, the USA needs more indie comic cons.

Anyway, you can get the story here, or here , or here, but this my contribution to the madness that day. A comic that surprisingly took me 30 minutes.

If I don't get a table, I'm doing this. There's no rule against it.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had a lot to do at school, looking for a job, and outside projects that got in the way. I did however put up a lot of new art and comic on my tumblr vigasartroom.

I also went to another con I had to get panels ready for called Cloudsdale Congress! So expect those next.

Also, I'll put up the random comics I did on a whim.

And then the end of Panelburg. Sorry.

The breakfast on the first day was bad. They got rid of the buffet and a ton of people showed up for breakfast to two servers and maybe one chef. It took over an hour to get food. The front desk people had to help out. A person with waitressing experience came forward. She dressed like in tight black pants, a corset, two knives on the hips and killer high heeled boots. We dubbed her Battle Waitress.

Here's a little bit of announcements and such.

The good news: I have two more episodes of my webshow Viga Loves Comics. Well, an episode and a half talking about Shuttbug Follies, a graphic novel by Jason Little. Go see!

Here's another news. I have begun the writing and penciling of the last 16 pages of Panelburg. The last. Why?

No I am not giving up webcomicking. I love webcomicking. The thing is having to do two graphic novel style pages a week with a load of school and other responsibilites. A simpler styled comic that would take me less time works for my lifestyle. This was an ambitious idea having a one person anthology that I was trying to mix later with an over arching storyline. I made some great characters I want to use, but in their own stories with a set end. In other words, stand alone books about Ian, Vanessa, Carmen or Kellen. Retail Dan is the one I chose to go that route with a horizontal format and an actual good look website. I learned a lot at school and from other creators I want to put into this. Also, I have tons of comic ideas in general. I want to create books and get my name out in illustration, graphic design, webshows and webcomics. I have to work hard and learn much more. I learned from all the mistakes I made here and elsewhere.

So, stay tuned the next few weeks. The world is ending.

So both me and my friend Simon of Conventional Wisdom do con comic. He has been doing it for a long time and I just thought it would be fun to try to as well. This marks a full year of doing it. The first time of MAGfest 10. In fact, I met him because of those comics. He also does Far Out There which is worth a read!

Also, since we hang at cons crossovers happen. It's like were internet reviewers or something. :P

The super gonorrhea is from a panel called "Audition for the Worst Movie Ever" ran by Heisanevilgenius aka Tom (aka HEISAN! ^_~). I think he's going to put up the video from that. In that comic is Punky Val, Elisa aka Maven of Vampire Reviews and Chris the Nerd. The last of which I was in a huge crossover with.

Also, The Protomen are cool.

I want to hurry up to get to Panelburg's storyline so here's 3 at once.

The first two are about the nerf war we have every year at MAGfest. This is my first time participating. It's awesome to say the least.

The last is me meeting the guy I do title cards for Issac. His show is Media Hunter. If you watch it, you will understand why I wasn't so sure what he would look like. Anyway, he's adorable and I'm teasing you with it. I don't think I can draw a cute guy like that. Too cute! @_@

I love strategy board games, but sometimes I have an attention thingy. It's not that I'm not interested in the game. In fact I highly recommend Dungeon and Dragons: Lords of Waterdeep, the game I was playing here.But I can be a handful at times. Especially with the nerdy jokes to my friend Will here.

Dungeon and Dragons: Lords of Waterdeep is a worker management/ resource management type game. You do quests and use cards to get victory points. I think I got second or first.

I got the cybermat plushie from Lewis "Linkara" Lovhaug. He sold them for 5 bucks and sold out in minutes. He said he'll make an Etsy for them sometime. Here it is!

I will name it Lew-kun!

Also, as seen here, he has an obsession...

I'm back bitches!

It's been a long while, but here's why:

1. Hurt my drawing hand
2. Finals
3. Holiday job
4. General sadness and stuff
5. MAGfest, my only vacation

But I'm back and fresh from MAGfest. Also, some important announcements. I don't have a job! (hooray?) On the good side, this gives me a chance to finally up the quality of the comic, add updates and work on the website. I want to move to wordpress as soon as possible. Also, I can work on my webshow Viga Loves Comics more and fulfill my plans for that. I also want to go full time at school and work on my portfolio. Also, freelancing!

I am going to have to extend my hiatus till Jan because my drawing hand got injured by desinging. Yep. I think it's carpal. I've been wearing a strap cast and can't do too much drawing without it hurting all over again. Plus, I have to save thse moments for my finals, which I can't get out of!

Anime USA ends with me throwing candy and hurting a room full of bronies. This happened at the Brony vs. Brony game show. That was fun!

And tomorrow is black Friday. Manga Studio EX 4 will be 30 dollars instead of 300. Guess what I'm getting! ^_^

Anime USA WTF 5

Presenting part two of yesterday's comic. Yeah, THIS happened while I was starting my panel. WTF tech ops.

Seriously, my interactions with them have been nothing but horrible. The 2nd comic is the 3rd worse experience I had presenting at cons. I don't know what went on with a lot of people at AUSA, but I hear not good things. It's sad because this is one of my favorite cons to attend, do programming for, formally volunteering for, hang out and enjoy. This was probably the most not enjoyable year for me. Between the scheduling, the boredom, the problems with tech ops and some problems that affected people I care about. I don't know the full story other than this being a new hotel, but I can tell my side of the story.

This con wasn't that fun anymore. It's not a bad con, but this was a meh year. I'll still come back and hope it will be better and there's friends there I want to be with. Sigh. Get well soon, AUSA.

Also, bring back the swap meet and manga library!

I was bored a lot on Saturday and a bit on Friday. I pretty much went to my friends panels and hung out with folk, but I found myself with not a lot to do for once. I'm not much of a gamer so going to the videogame room wasn't my thing. I went through artist alley and dealers room quickly because it's not that big. Other programming didn't appeal to me at that time. Also, they got rid of the manga library and swap meet so I didn't have any back up plans. I'm not a hall hanger. I don't really find much fun just wandering the halls of a con like some con goers do. Thus I was bored. So I ended up going to the hotel room or sitting on the floor of the con tweeting. I said I was bored and someone said, I was getting old.

Old.

OLD.

OLD!

Anime USA and bored never went together because I was always doing something fun or helpful to the con. What happened!?

Also, I am closer to 30 now. I'm 27. I'm OLD! *cries*
