Historical Places in Pangasinan

The province of Pangasinan is not just blessed with natural attractions. It is also a home of historical places which will be treasured for a lifetime. The people from Pangasinan aren't just part of history but places here had been a special part too of what can be called a legend.

One of these Historical Places is the Lingayen Gulf near to the Provincial Capitol. This had been one of the landing areas of the American Forces, way back January 9, 1945. This resulted then into Northen Luzon Liberation.

Of course, the White Beach along Nibaliw West to Mabilao in San Fabian is a famous place too for this is where the Commander if the Japanese Imperial Expeditionary Forces, Lt. General Homma landed on the 24th of December 1941.

Another place to mention would be Limahong Channel. This Channel was dugg by Chinese Corsair Limahong when he didn't succeeded to colonized parts of Manila Bay. This Channel paved way for his escape going to the China Sea.

Another famous and legendary place is the Old St. John’s Cathedral in Zamora Street Dagupan City. This is where the Spanish General surrendered to the Filipino revolutionist General Francisco Makabulos.

Of course, who would forget Bonuan Beach which had become one of the landing sites of the Liberation Forces during the year 1945. You can see here Japanese Park, the Tondaligan Park and the MacArthur Landing Marker too which have been a popular spot for visitors.

One certain school in Dagupan City had became the official headquarters of General MacArthur during his stay here. It was the West Central Elementary School specifically the Home Economics Building.

The Provincial Capitol of Lingayen also showcases memorabilias which have been used during the war and the relics commemorating the heroes and famous people during the War.

Our Lady of Manaoag in Manaoag, Pangasinan

The Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag is located in the municipality of Manaoag, Pangasinan. Our Lady of Manaoag is formally known as Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario de Manaoag or Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag in English translation. Our Lady of Manaoag is a title given to Blessed Virgin Mary often called Mama Mary who was believed to be the patroness of the sick, helpless and needy.

The Shrine is one of the popular churches in the Philippines and indeed the most famous church in the province. Many church goers visit the shrine especially during Saturdays and Sundays. People from different places visit the place because of the belief that Blessed Virgin Mary is able to grant miracles to the people.

These are two stores you can find at Manaoag where in you can avail religious materials like rosaries, candles, books, statues and a lot more. There are also numerous vendors of statues along the high way of the Shrine.

The Candle Gallery is one of the most visited places in the Shrine too. Many people light candles and pray for their desires and petitions.

Typhoon Pepeng in Pangasinan

My blog is all about attractions in the province of Pangasinan but now I would like to share everyone the effect of Typhoon Pepeng to numerous Pangasinenses and how it affected their entire life. This is not a pride of Pangasinan but a real story regarding the lives of Pangasinenses in the past week.

At first, it was said from the news that the typhoon will affect Isabela and Tuguegarao. Yes, it hit the two provinces leaving damages in the agriculture. The two were set on tropical storm signal number 3 that time while the province of Pangasinan is suffering from just signal number 1. It was raining really hard in the province and after a day or two, it's still raining hard in Pangasinan. I don't even believe that it's just signal number 1 because of the rain which didn't stop in 3 days and 3 nights. It was continuous. It started Tuesday evening. At Thursday, people are started to see the effect of the typhoon because many houses were flooded and needs to transfer in higher places or be at evacuation centers. That night, the San Roque dam in San Manuel, Pangasinan open 6 gates releasing voluminous cubic meters of waters in a second which ended in more severe flooding because the rivers and dikes that will serve to contain those waters released can't hold that big amount of water.So, it ended in the destruction of dikes, the water overflowed and flooding resulted.

The flood destroyed many house, infrastructures and billions or trillions of agriculture. There were also deaths noted because of the incident. The SM City in Carmen, Rosales was not spared during the typhoon, flood waters entered the ground floor resulting in damage of goods and products. There were also approximately one thousand people trapped inside the SM because of the sudden enter of flood waters.

Dagupan City were mostly affected by the typhoon as well as a certain barangay in Rosales. Almost all of the towns in Pangasinan suffered from flooding especially the low lying areas. The pavement in Sumabnit, Binalonan was destroyed by the typhoon too.

After all those incidents, Saturday morning when there was dam break scare. There was a news that the San Roque dam has a break and if the people won't relocate themselves then, many will die. So, the people panicked. But the engineer of San Roque dam said a statement and told the people that the news was not true. According to him it would only happen when three of these things happen simultaneously: terrorism, super typhoon and earthquake.

Thank God that in Saturday, the sun already shined so brightly which also paved way for the people to get back to their normal way of living forgetting the trauma the typhoon had brought. After all the damages, I just hope the government will help its people in the best way that they could especially those farmers who profited almost nothing from their crops.

Whatever happens, life must go on. I know God is always with everyone and won't leave it's children who have suffered from the traumatic incident. Keep on praying fellowmen!

Alaminos Airport Development Project

If you have watched President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's State of the Nation Address last July, then maybe you have heard of the multi-million Alaminos Airport Development Project. This project will surely transcend not only the town but the province's economic development.

The construction is fast approaching because the bidding is ongoing in Manila by the Department of Transportation and Communication. The airport's runwas has an approved budget of P96.5 million.

Alaminos was chosen to be the perfect site of a commercial airport based on the study made by the DOTC and PTCC.

I'm sure everyone from the town of Alaminos and the province of Pangasinan are excited about this Airport Project. This will be the first commercial airport in the province. I'm sure many will be benefited from this commercial project. And of course, it would make Pangasinan be known in other places again. This only proves that the province of Pangasinan is on it's way to become a more developed province.

Cacupangan Cave in Mabini, Pangasinan

Cacupangan Cave is located in Cacupangan, Mabini, Pangasinan. The municipality of Mabini is few minutes away from Alaminos City. Before it was commercialized, it is a bit difficult to enter into the cave . Few people have visited this place and I'm sure many haven't seen it yet. You will have to pay for a small entrance fee when you get there. The place is great and is ideal for picnics too.

This is really a wonderful place to visit. You can enjoy seeing stalactites and stalagmites as well as enjoy the fresh air as you enjoy the visit on the Cacupangan cave. You won't regret the experience you will have when you visit this Cave. You can also take a bath outside the cave and enjoy the Water falls.

If you've been at Cacupangan Cave, you've seen one of the nicest place in Pangasinan. For those who haven't seen the place yet, why not spend some time seeing it? I assure you of a great experience!

Antong Falls in Sison, Pangasinan

Enjoy the breath taking waters as you see the running waters of Antong Falls which is located in the municipality of Sison, Pangasinan. But before, getting into the site and seeing this wonderful falls, you will embark a journey passing through the green fields of the town. You'll also pass through a hanging bridge on the way. It's really an exciting adventure everyone should try.

So for all nature lovers out there, don't miss to visit this place. It is something you will truly enjoy. You may get tired a bit walking as you get there but it's worth it in the end!

This thus proves that the natural wonders here in Pangasinan is well taken cared of. And Pangasinan isn't only popular with beaches but with falls too. Antong Falls is just one of the wonderful falls in the province of Pangasinan. Many people haven't seen this wonder yet. So, dare to visit Antong Falls not only for those people from other places but most especially to all Pangasinenses and Ilocanos.

Hundred Isalnds in Alminos, Pangasinan

Hundred Islands is indeed a famous attraction where in people from other place would wish to visit. Many foreign visitors also love this place to relax, unwind and have some fund. Hundred Islands is on Barangay Lucap, Alaminos City, Pangasinan. It's not really composed of 100 islands but 124 at low tide and 123 at high tide. Do you know that the islands are believed to be 2 million years old? Yes, that's how ancient they are. Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island were only the islands that have been developed for tourists.

If you haven't seen this beautiful place, you must go and visit it soon. You don't know what you are missing if you haven't seen this place. It is really a paradise. It is a good place for friends, couples and family. You can also check on some of the resorts near where you can stay at.

Hundred Islands is just one of the many must visit places in Pangasinan. There are a lot more.

Have you been at Najeska BeachResort? This is a very good place where you can really relax, enjoy the sun, watch the sun set and walk along the shores of San Fabian Beach. Najeska is located in San Fabian, Pangasinan. This resort has good facilities including air conditioned rooms, kitchen, CR and a lot more. This is a very good place for families and friends. The rate of Najeska varies seasonally. The staff of the resort are very accommodating too.

You can also grill barbeques or fishes by borrowing their grill stand.

So, the next time you visit San Fabian, why not be at Najeska Resort? You can either use their pool at the same time be at the beach after.

Tondol Beach in Anda, Pangasinan

Enjoy the beauty of white fine particle sand likened to Boracay, visit Tondol Beach at Anda, Pangasinan. You can be at this place few minutes from the town proper. The beach is not polluted by restaurants around just like other beaches. It has been maintained and can be considered on still on it's virgin state. The people from this place are very hospitable too. Nice place to be visited by tourists, balikbayans and people near the place as well.

SM Carmen

After how many years,the first SM in Pangasinan was constructed. Located at Carmen Rosales, the SM finally opened last November 28,2008. Many people have been visiting the place since it had opened. The opening was great. Many people came to see the place and of course, shop. So, if you are from the province, why not be at SM Carmen, Rosales the next time you shop?

Tambobong Beach

Paradise is just a trip away. Pangasinan has really blessed with this great beaches, one of which is Tambobong Beach located at Dasol,Pangasinan. With the sand, water and the ambiance of the place itself, it is indeed Paradise. As you stroll around the place, you will admire the clean and crystal clear water, very nice place for swimming. It is a good place for scuba diving too. This hidden paradise was still a place to discover for many tourists and beach finders out there. Paradise-awesome beach..perfect vacation destination!

Puerto Paraiso

I have been in this resort many times. For those who haven't tried visiting Puerto Paraiso, I think it's time to give it a try. This place is so wonderful. It is located at Bugayong Binalonan, Pangasinan. It's found along the high way. If you have been to a trip in the north a this year or a year ago, maybe you have seen this place.

You will not spend much when you go here. The entrance fee is so cheap as well as the cottages and private rooms. Believe me, it's all worth it. You can have the most out of your expenses. The place is clean. It's planted with tress too. And the facilities like comfort rooms is good.

She made it to the top 10

June 1-2 2008, the scheduled date for Nurse Licensure Examination. Out of the 64,459 hopeful board takers, only 27,765 passed the said exam. The top notcher which was from University of Sto.Tomas had a rating 0f 86%. Most of top 10 newly registered nurses came from UP and UST. A student from Pangasinan also made it to the top 10. Rizza Tamayo ranked n0.6 and rated 85%. She graduated from Collegio de dagupan(Computronix College). This young RN proved everyone that students from Pangasinan have all what it takes included in the list of top notchers as well. Cheers to all newly RNs who studied in Pangasinan.

Loving Ilocanos

Life in province maybe not that terrific as compared to city life but there's no greater feeling as happiness in your home town. In our place, which i would say where loving people resides, there's that joy in every heart always. People may not have all their wants but mind you, they are satisfied with the harmonious relationship they have with their family. Here, they'll treat you part of their family even if you are not related by blood and just neighbors. Pangasinan is one of the province where you can find great Ilocano people.Ilocanos are really one of most compassionate group of people in the world. Are you an Ilocano? Be proud!

Found in the town of Alaminos, this place had been a popular attraction not only of Filipinos but also of people from different countries. I have been here a year ago and i would say it was a great place. It's not only the place that i admire but also those nice people within the vicinity.
