Online shopping

2013-09-05T21:02:00.000+05:30

Long ago, it was barter system. People used to trade the goods among themselves. They used to offer the goods that are in myriad, in exchange to the goods that are in dearth for them. It was, in this way, trade was evolved. Later, it was with bronze and other metal coins used for trade and called it as selling and purchasing. And now it's money that is being used for transactions.

Along with this, the interests of people also evolved and varied from one-another. Basic necessities are not the only ones that people are buying now. Market too has evolved. Manufactures and business men made things that enticed people to buy the things that are creative and good looking. So, in this process of creating new things and buying, market's revenue has been multiplied.

There must have been a thought in a business man's mind that, "why not make use of the immortal Internet for buying and purchasing." This was an idea from a brilliant mind, I must say. Many online outlets have been opened. Let us consider Flipkart, which is an online outlet that sells clothes, shoes, belts, kids toys, books etc.. It's website flipkart.com has a global Alexa ranking of 176. It's rank nationally i.e. in India is 11. There are similar sites and outlets namely Amazon, Jabong etc.

Why I said this idea as brilliant is because, these online outlets have changed the way people shop. In my case, earlier, I used to go to brand outlet somewhere in my city to buy a shirt which costs say, 2000 bucks. As, I can't compromise on quality and as I have no other option left except to buy the one I like, I should afford 2000 bucks. But now, with unrelenting offers and discounts, I am able to buy the shirt of same quality, brand and the one like for a much cheaper rate. Cheaper rates have been the key mantra for the success of online outlets.

This is modern day shopping. A revolution has been brought in the way people shop. There is no need to roam on roads and buy the goods. Sit before you desktop, browse the online outlet, select the one you like. Other advantage here in the online shopping is the flexibility of payment that includes options like cash on delivery or credit cards for instant payment on the site itself. My life has been made easier with online shopping. What about you?

Thumb

2013-09-03T21:28:00.002+05:30

(Source: Google Images)

Thumb is a cross platform application (Android and Apple) that has not gained enough reputation even though it has the potential to be one of the best ones present around. " Instant opinions. Real People", says its punch line.
The rule of the application is quite simple. It is to give, get and save opinions to connect with others. So, for now, it can be comprehended that the application is used to give and accept opinions. Lets understand this with an example. Say, you are a bit conscious about your looks and dressing. And, you want to know how your new dress looks on you. To get the opinions of total strangers or friends, you are just a snap away. Take a
snap of yours with your new dress and post it as a question in the application. You are done..!! You will have a deluge of opinions under your question.
The other thing to be noted is, you get instant opinions for the question you posted. These opinions are given by real people present around the world.
There are a wide range of categories to select in the application. Users have to choose between the categories they like and they can see questions of the respective categories which were posted by real people across the world seeking opinion of you. Some of the categories are Food, Dating and Relationships, Art, Fashion etc.
For a particular question, you can either vote up or vote down, depending upon your opinion. You can also comment on it. There is also a huge probability of making new friends. You can friend others and send messages to each other using this application.
As a whole, this application has received both negative and positive feedbacks. This is a great application for people who are really indecisive about what they got and what they are going to do.It is also great for the people who enjoy talking to strangers and making friends. Helping others by giving opinions is a good thing, after all, its about being kind and nice to others. There are also people who condemn this. According to them, "Being indecisive and seeking others' opinions even for the slightest of things, is being callow." Nevertheless, it's upto the person who uses it. But,we from Panloo would recommend this app.

Night life...!!

2013-08-27T17:14:00.000+05:30

If its 6 a.m, my brain wakes me up and I carry on with my daily chores. Well, this is good to hear. I do concur with all those who say early rising is good. At the same time getting to bed early in the night is also crucial.

These days persons in the age group of 18-30 tend to stay late in the night. (I am not a statistician to interpret the age group correctly,it is an approximation made based on the schedule some people I know follow) Even, I am not an exception to this. But why do we stay so late...?

I remember, when I was a kid, I used to go to bed by 7:30 P.M. Pretty distinctive. In college, it dragged on to 10:00 P.M. And now, I am a software employee, I sleep but seldom that too at dawn. I personally feel like, there is an affinity for nights from my side. I can work more, I can read more, I can do the things I love for more hours by reducing the time I sleep.

With the onset of weekends we get much more excited. we get ebullient. All our lethargy gets lost. 5 days of work has to be complemented with 2 days of enjoyment and ecstatic we are, like never. Who is aloof from enjoying weekends? One should enjoy life, I never abstain myself too and I don't even say that it's not my cup of tea.

Some of my acquaintances do work for night shift and say that they have head ache and always stay in a torpor state. I pity them. They can't really quit, it earns bread. Health is being sacrificed for the sake of living, very paradoxical, isn't it?

With all these pointed, after all, we all need a happy, healthy life. But, we are going wrong mates. Night life isn't recommended. Our ancestors have set certain rules and we should comply with some, if not all (not all, if we feel that we are more learnt and condescending which is bad, Remember, they were wiser).

This is productive at present. What after 10 years ? What if, all of us, insomniacs, get some mental disorders ? What about all those who cared for us ? We are educated, we are smart. Let us not be callow. I solemnly ask my readers to have a deep sound sleep at proper times. Lack of sleep hinders your learning capability, your metabolism changes, your body struggles. Your mind wanders. Mind you, sorry, US..!!

After this thought, I changed my bed in and bed out timings, now its your turn mates..!!

Life, as it is..!!

2013-08-26T19:33:00.001+05:30

Hey all, it's been a long time since I have been here on blogger. I couldn't make up much time as I am working. Anyways, I, therefore, thought to resume my avocations. You know why, right? Just following my passion for writing, playing guitar, reading books.
Whenever I do these things, I feel contented. I get good sleep at night. To be honest enough, the best of my friends don't know that I love living this way. "High five!", for those who are of the same club. After this long respite,I seriously don't know, why I am sharing personal stuff of mine over here now. I am just following my heart.
I wanted to be rich. Infact, real rich, did u understand? My heart always says this to me. Most of us think to achieve certain goals in our life and we try and hope for the same too. For some, the goals are just formed by the natural propensity they have on some things in life or based on interests they have or by the way she/he has been guided by his/her parents. But, for some, circumstances form them. I belong to the latter.
I remember, very well infact, I used to go to houses of aunts and uncles to get a loan of Rs. 10. The worst part of this is, it was actually not me, but we i.e; me along with momma. With that Rs.10, my momma used to buy rice, oil and whatever needed to cook a meal for the day.
I remember, the struggle my momma had taken to grow me up good. (The paragraph just describes it) My parents have done all their bit for me. They are old now, they are tired and weak. And I am doing a job in a software company, which is totally not for me. I am being indifferent when someone asks me what do I do? It is okay, that I have a job, I earn good sums, but somewhere deep down my heart says you don't belong here, you are different, your passions are different. I know my passions, but they don't give instant money for me to settle down in life very early as this job can.
I don't like what I am doing but I am confident and I have the courage to change the course of my life, so that I will be rich. I wanted to be rich, only for two reasons
1) I don't want my parents to struggle more doing their jobs till they get retired.
2) I don't want my son to face the problems that I had faced.
I don't really mind the reader who thinks that am being foolish. Never mind random reader, you never walked in my shoes...!!!
Sorry for being dramatic, I felt like venting out some stuff of mine and please note that I am not fond of money, I value love more than it. You must confess,as I have, that money has been playing a major role in individuals' lives these days.

Petrol price affect on common man

2012-06-13T17:48:00.001+05:30

This is a story formed based on the present scenario in India. The story written below is purely fictional.
A popular news channel reporter has witnessed a situation and the story explained by the news channel is as follows.
--One of our press reporters had visualised it live and stood by a tree side and recorded the whole audio conversation. It goes like this. Mr. Rao was driving down to his office. He was only 15 minutes away from his office and suddenly he found two persons, one wearing red and the other green mask on their faces asking for a lift.
They acted on the road as if one of them was suffering with some excruciating pain. Mr. Rao being a kind person, thought of helping them and stopped the car. As soon as he stopped the car, the persons with masks on their faces took their guns out and pointed them towards him.
Mr. Rao, inquired, “why u guys stopped the car?” and said, “there is a hospital nearby, I will drop you by and leave, get in.” Both of them laughed out and the one with red mask said, “ C’mon buddy, there is no patient here and no one needs your bloody car, we just need the precious part i.e.; the tank part of your car.” Mr. Rao asked, “ You mean, petrol? “ The person with green mask replied, “haa...yes, the precious thing in India, we just need it..!!”
Mr. Rao was astonished and said, “No way, I bought it by applying personal Loan in a bank..Anyways, Let me go, I am already late for the office..” The person with green mask put his gun at point blank of Mr. Rao and said, “ Give ur petrol tank keys to my friend.”
Mr. Rao said, “ This is holy shit, you cannot a kill a person for this...” Red mask person replied, “ we have got lot of loans to clear, get your head down and hand over the keys of your petrol tank, NOW..!!”
Mr. Rao said, “Hey come on you want petrol right put your gun down send your friend with me I will drop him to nearest petrol pump.” Red mask person said, “ Stop kidding or else, you will have your smarty brains out...Hmmm want to take him to police station? "
Green mask person to Red mask person, “Let’s not waste time snatch the keys and take the petrol.”
Mr. Rao replied, “For god's sake please don’t take petrol I will give you as much money as you want.” Red mask person said, “ Money? Who cares for it? We want petrol. It’s the only easy way to make petrol during price hike!!..”
Eventually, our media reporter went for Mr. Rao’s rescue by calling Police, who caught hold of the masked persons. The S.I mentioned that, “ the masked persons were bank employees and took this step in order to solve family problems like taking their wives to market on their scooter and for clearing loans. There are nearly a 100 similar cases noted after the recent petrol hike in the city.”

LinkedIn to beef up security

2012-06-10T10:58:00.000+05:30

6.5 million LinkedIn hashed passwords were stolen and were published on an unauthorized website. Members of the LinkedIn team said that they disabled all infected accounts and didn't believe that other members were at risk. Some cyber-security experts had warned that the company could uncover further data losses over coming days as it tries to figure out what happened.

" We want to be as transparent as possible while at the same time preserving the security of our members without jeopardizing the ongoing investigation," it said in a blog post.

"If your password has not been disabled, based on our investigation, we do not believe your account is at risk."

LinkedIn can always be a target for data thieves, since it has world class professionals as members in it. There is always a chance of questioning LinkedIn regarding the security breach, because this act of breaching the site, shows a bit of negligence in the security measures, knowing the fact that it has high class professionals and their data in it.

However, it is recommended to change your passwords on any website you log into after every few months.

Apple still in dominance

2012-06-09T11:52:00.001+05:30

It seems like Apple still continues its domination in the market. To count there are only two phones from Apple in the market now, namely iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. From the statistics released it is evident that iPhone is still the popular device in the market. Moreover most of the iPhone buyers at present are refugees from Android and RIM, according to the CIRP statistics.

In April 42% of other smartphone users shifted to Apple, compared to that of 36% in February. And 34% are the upgrades from earlier iPhones. 24% of the standard mobile users shifted to Apple in April, which was 28% in February. iPhone is not stealing the market but people are still getting attracted to it.

Samsung tries to fight Apple's complaint to ban Galaxy s3

2012-06-07T18:34:00.000+05:30

Yet another conflict between Samsung and Apple. Apple decided to move to court with a complaint that Samsung's new device Galaxy S3 has infringed two patents of it. Whatever it is, Samsung said that it will fight back Apple legally in this case.
Samsung says that the new device is distinctive and innovative. Apple asked a U.S district court to ban the sales of the new Galaxy phone. The South Korean company said in a
statement that it will "demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive."
We don't know what actually Apple intends to do with this case and the purpose behind complaining. One thing is sure, this new Galaxy device must have created discussions of higher temperature in the Board meetings of Apple. It shows that Apple is trying to hold its place as top mobile manufacturer before it is taken away by Samsung. Chief executives of the two companies met in San Francisco last month after a court instructed them to negotiate, but the talks didn't produce a settlement.

Solar powered Air conditioning system for Vehicles

2012-04-27T12:26:00.000+05:30

A green Technology to keep the Drivers cool.

This air conditioning system can be powered on ,even when the vehicle is stopped and the engine is off. In collaboration with the Green power Industrial Limited, PolyU's the department of Electrical Engineering has developed an air conditioning system for vehicles to turn from the scorching heat into cool air without the waste of the gasoline.

With the help of the photovoltaic technology and the intelligent power control, SAV ignites on-board air-conditioner to solar power when the engine shuts off, and it happens automatically.Even this technique can also be used in minibuses and taxis to avoid pollution and also to gain power output while waiting for the passengers at stations. So this helps for more utilisation of air conditioner for extra hours.
This system has photovoltaic cells that can be placed on top of the car to absorb the solar power and this power can be stored in the battery and can be utilised for later purpose when the car engine is not running.

The panel is accordingly made with the perfect material to hold the cause. This will also help as a thermal insulation for the interior and also to equipments in the vehicle.

(Courtesy:Gizmag)

The main purpose that it serves is it can lower the petrol and fuel costs and can also reduce the pollution which is really a great help to the mankind. This was first announced last year october and the SAV is installed in a Swire Coco cola hong kong truck. The series of experiments with it proved robust and effective.

For more advancements it is gradually deployed in public transport for better results. Lets all have to hope for advanced designs and good results which safeguards the natural resources and our eco system. SAV is an innovation with an aim to reduce the harmful emissions and also to eliminate the effects of climatic change. Lets hope that we could make a pollution free and SAV a happy use to the mankind.

Vibrating steering wheel as a safety measure in automobiles

2012-04-27T09:11:00.002+05:30

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and AT&T Labs have shown an additional safety feature for automobile drivers. This feature includes a Vibrating steering wheel, haptic feedback and audio-video guidance.
After successful designing of the project, the researchers found that younger drivers in particular were less distracted by a navigation system's display screen when they received haptic feedback from the vibrating steering wheel.

(Courtesy: wn.com)

"Our findings suggest that, as navigation systems become more elaborate, it would be best to personalize the sensory feedback system based, at least in part, on the driver's age," said SeungJun Kim, systems scientist in Carnegie Mellon's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII).

These steering wheels helps in preventing accidents. The hardware model developed by AT&T produces pulses from 20 actuators in any order. Firing the actuators in a clockwise sequence told a driver to turn right, while a counterclockwise sequence signaled a left turn.
"By using these types of vibration cues, we are taking advantage of what people are already familiar with, making them easier to learn," explained Kevin A. Li, a researcher with AT&T.
It was also explained that younger one preferred video feedback whereas older ones preferred audio feedback.
Anyhow, the work done by the researchers is appreciable since it saves several human lives on the roads. The dates or period in which this technology will become available to middle range cars in sub-continent countries is not yet known.

Spring Batteries

2011-12-10T09:56:00.001+05:30

Yes, definitely a new innovation!! This is a new concept called One=Two, developed by Huang Kun, Meng Xun, He Ting & Liu Yuan. The concept is here. Suppose your electronic device is being supplied by two batteries. And if they are totally discharged, then you are helpless and you need to buy a new set of batteries. We generally throw off the used batteries when they are unable to supply the load, but there still exists a little charge in them which can be utilized.

By using spring batteries when two batteries get drained such that they are unable to power the electronic device, they can be compressed and combined into one battery slot. This allows you to drain every last drop of power from the older batteries before replacing with a new fully charged one. In this sense, only one new spring battery is to be bought to serve the purpose. This is a 2011 red dot design concept winning entry.

Apple re-modelling Siri?

2011-12-08T22:08:00.001+05:30

Everyone knows that, at the time of launch of iPhone 4S, it was integrated with Siri, which is a Beta version. And so, it will definitely be updated. It seems like, the time has come for Siri to get updated with API, new interface and additional languages. Recent job postings for Apple revealed this. One of the job posts is here:

"We are looking for an engineer to join the team that implements the UI for Siri. You will primarily be responsible for implementing the conversation view and its many different actions. This includes defining a system that enables a dialog to appear intuitive, a task that involves many subtle UI behaviors in a dynamic, complex system. You will have several clients of your code, so the ability to formulate and support a clear API is needed."

It seems like Siri will be open to third party developers some time later in the future. Once has wait to know what happens next..!!

(Source: Google Images)

If it is given for third party, there would definitely be a huge change in the manner Siri functions. For example: One can simply update his Facebook status, by saying "update my Facebook status" with.."Hi everybody" and it gets done.
