Uganda - Here are the four banknotes of Uganda first series all issued reportedly on 15.08.1966. Prior to 1966, Uganda shared the same currency together with Kenya and Tanganyika (now Tanzania). The currency was then issued by the East African Currency Board (dissolved in 1967) and was known as East African Shilling. In 1966, Uganda established it's central bank and called it the Bank of Uganda and released a full set of Uganda shilling currency...

This series was first introduced in 2008, and since then reprints were issued in 2012 for the 1, 2, 5, and 10 pa'anga notes. The notes that I have posted here are considered as the third prints since this series was first introduced in 2008, however, for these reprints only 10, 20 and 50 pa'anga were issued. It should be noted that both the 20 and 50 pa'anga were not included in the 2012 reprints, however, this is the third issue for the 10 pa'anga since 2008. No reprint for the 100 pa'anga has been reported or sighted...

The note that I have here is the reprint of the nd2024 series, but with the Chief Cashier signature of Victoria Mary Florence Cleland. It is believed that this reprint note was issued in (nd)2025.

Singapore - The is the latest $100 note printed with a tiny symbol of an inverted triangle on the back. It is not sure when this note was printed but since Tharma Shanmugaratnam left the Monetary Authority of Singapore as Chairman on 8 July 2023, one can only assume this note was ordered/printed before his departure date. Also it is not sure if there are other $100 notes printed with different symbols after this, or perhaps this is the last of the $100 note bearing his signature. Since then, Tharma Shanmugaratnam has been elected as the 9th President of Singapore...

Scotland, Clydesdale Bank Limited - This is one odd note of £1 I have in my collection that was printed with the date of 1st March 1974 and signed by A R MacMillian as Chief General Manager. I am unable to find out what the initials "A R" stand for. The condition of this note is heavily circulated and I have no recollection as to how I got this note in the first place. It is most likely that I got this as a change, but I can't confirm this. This £1 note was issued between 1971 to 1981 and unfortunately this is the only piece I have in my collections. I have had this banknote in my procession for many many years...

Rasheed Ghaffour was appointed to the role on 1 July 2023, replacing the previous governor, Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus. Rasheed Ghaffour is the 10th bank governor appointed since 1959. The fixed term for the central bank governor is for 5 years and this can be extended by the elected government of the day...

These three notes are all printed in polymer substrates and were issued to celebrate the 70th birthday of the formal King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who was the King of Bhutan from 1972 to 2006. Sweden - Here, I have posted two notes both supposedly printed in 2022 with the prefix letter K. The two notes posted are the 20 and 100 kronor and it is believed that the 500 kronor is printed too. So far, none has been sighted in public yet. As at the time of this posting, only two prefixes for the 500 kronor have been issued and they were printed with the letters B (nd2014) and C (nd2015). I also read somewhere that this 500 kroner notes were also printed with the letters E (nd2017), F (nd2018) and G (nd2019). I am not sure if this is correct. Time will tell!...

Malaysia - On 13.04.2025 I posted a full set of six notes from 1 to 100 ringgit all bearing the bank's governor's signature of Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus. This series was first introduced on 05.07.2009 with the 50 ringgit. You can click onto the link above to view my original post. It has come to my attention that whilst in all previous issues, replacement notes are usually printed for all denominations of banknotes that are issued for general circulation. However, for this series, only the denominations of RM1 (polymer), RM50 and RM100 were printed with replacement prefixes but not for the RM5, RM10 and RM20...

Croatia - I have added a 25 dinara second print note dated 1991 to my previous post. Recently, I found out that there are two varieties for the 25 dinara note dated 1991. The differences between these notes are the watermarks and also the fonts used for the serial number. The standard Pick banknotes catalogue refers to these notes as P19a and P19b. The first print has a watermark numeral of 5 and the second print has an inverted numeral 5 watermark. Also the fonts printed for the serial numbers are not the same for the two versions too. The best way to tell them apart is by looking at the zero on the serial number (if any) between the two notes. The first print shows a more oval shape (narrow oval zeros) for the zeros printed whilst the second print has a more roundish look (squared-off zeros). When I found out that I was missing the second print in my collection, I started to look and see if I can get one online. Of course, this is a small and cheap note, so spending between say $5 to $10 (including postage) to get one in UNC condition is not an issue for me as I like to collect my banknotes in full sets if possible. Whilst looking through seller sites for this missing note, I remember that I do have some spares notes for this 1991-1993 series. So, I went and dug them out and realised that I already have this second print in my collection. I have had this spare note for more than 15 years and was not aware of the differences between the two prints. There you are, I have now saved myself $5-10!...

Samoa - I have added the folder that was issued together with this 60 tala commemorative note to my previous posts (normal/replacement/specimen). A total of 500 specially designed folders were issued when this 60 tala commemorative note was issued on 31 May 2023. These folder were sold as it is without the actual banknotes inside but the folders were meant for both the standard uncirculated notes and the specimen notes. These folders are sold at Samoan 20 tala each.

Whilst this note is printed with the year date of 2018, not many of these uncirculated notes were made available to collectors until recently. Only three notes were printed with the signature of Adrian Orr for the 2018 issue, thus completing my collection for the 2018 reprints...

Czechoslovakia - Posted here are five notes issued between 1985 to 1989. This is the last of the Czechoslovakia banknotes series before the country split into two nations on 01.01.1993. The separation of Czechoslovakia was necessary as the two main groups of people, mainly the Czechs and Slovaks, are different ethnically and culturally. The separation was known as the "Velvet divorce", and it was done in a peaceful manner with no arm conflicts or loss of lives. It was reported that the separation was decided by politicians from both sides, without a referendum being called, despite that public opinion at that time was in favour of preserving the country as one. The division of assets was done on a two-to-one ratio in favour of the Czech republic, reflecting the population of Czechoslovakia back then. At the time of the separation, the Czechs and Slovaks combined accounted for two-thirds of the population.

Honduras - This is a 200 lempiras released on 20.01.2026. The planning and printing of this note was first announced on 23.08.2023. A total of 20 million pieces were printed by Crane Currency in Malta. On 12.03.2026, the government of Honduras instructed all banks to cease distributing this note to the public for circulation. This note barely lasted 51 days and for those notes that have been released since January 2026 are still legal tender and no doubt any circulated notes returned back to the bank will not be reissued to the public again. Initially I had no intention to get this note until I saw this news. This note was issued to honor Bertha Isabel Caceres Flores, a leader in the field of Ecology. This is also the first time a female portrait is featured on a Honduras banknote, even though it did not last that long. This note should be treated as a commemorative note and as such I have also posted this same note to my commemorative banknotes section...

Tatarstan - These are the only two notes I have from the Republic of Tatarstan, an autonomous region of Russia. Tatarstan is also sometimes known as Tataria. The two notes that I have posted here are the 5000 rubles or 50 shamil (1 shamil = 100 rubles). Both notes are dated 1996(nd), but I believe the one that is printed in blue is the first print and the one in green is the second. It would be fair to say that the second print would be issued in 1997 or 1998 etc. These two notes are the largest denominations issued since 1992 and also the last issued by Tatarstan. These notes were issued to assist low income earning people to upgrade their way of life, due to the economic and financial crises at that time...

Fiji - Here is a full set of five polymer notes all printed with the replacement prefix of ZZ. This serial was issued on 02.01.2026. For this series, the bank also released this new series in a booklet with all five notes as well as a single note in a folder. The bank has also made uncut sheets available in 2-in-1, 5-in-1, 10-in-one and 45-in-1. I am happy to say that the serial number for the $10 note is the lowest number I have for a replacement note in my entire replacement notes collection. It is always good to have such a banknote in my collection. No doubt, this note will fetch a small extra premium should I decide to sell it one day...

Ethiopia - It has been a long time since I last purchased any Ethiopian banknotes, and here I have posted four notes from the current series. I bought these notes out of curiosity and also these are fairly cheap notes to collect. Ethiopian banknotes were not on my radar but when the dealers sold these in a set, I decided to get them. Whilst the signature on all the notes are the same, not all notes are printed with the same year. The 100 birr is printed with the 2023 year and the rest are printed with 2020. There are three varieties for the 100 birr notes printed with the year dates of 2020 x 1, and 2023 x 2...

European Union - This is a 200 euro hybrid banknote Letter 'S' printed with the year date of 2019. This note bears the signature of Mario Draghi, who was the President of the European Central Bank from 01.11.2011 to 31.10.2019. Since then he has been replaced by Christine Madeleine Odette Lagarde. I believe there are three prints for this denomination, and unfortunately, this is the only note I have in my collection...

Brunei - On 09.03.2026, Brunei Central bank released a new series of 5 notes (dolar) of $1, $5, $10, $100 and $500 all dated 2024. Like all previous issues, the notes for this series are all printed on polymer substrate materials. This new series of banknotes was unveiled by the central bank in September 2025. The two denominations of $50 and $1,000 are not included in this new series...

Kenya - Here are five notes from 50 to 1000 shillings all dated 2024. This series of notes were first introduced in 2019 and the full sets that I have posted here are the reprints of 2019. Portuguese Guinea - Posted here are two notes issued by Banco Nacional Ultramarino and both notes are dated 17 de Dezembro de 1971 (17.12.1971). These are the last banknotes issued before the country gained independence in 1974 and called itself Guinea-Bissau. In general, the Overseas Province of Guinea is commonly known as Portuguese Guinea. Portugal had occupied Portuguese Guinea since 1588 and commenced issuing the Escudo currency in 1914. Fiji - On 17.01.2026, I posted a full set of 5 new polymer notes released on 02.01.2026 (nd2026). Please feel free to visit the post to read the descriptions of all the notes. Here, I have now posted another full set (polymer) all printed with the word 'Specimen' on the front and back in red.

Unlike those previously issued Specimen notes, these Specimen notes are all printed with the serial number of FJ 888888, instead of AA 000000. The first time when the bank used the solid 8s numbers for the specimen note was the nd2022 Tokyo Olympic Games commemorative $7 specimen note, printed with the serial number of GFG 888888. It seems that the bank has developed a habit of using such popular serial numbers among collectors for their specimen notes...

Bhutan - I have added the 100 ngultrum issued (nd)1986 to my previous post. I cannot confirm if this note was issued in 1986 as I am aware that on another banknote website site, it was reported that this note was issued in 1985. There are two varieties of this note. The one that I have posted here was the first print with fractional serial prefix, while the second issue was with double letter serial prefix. Both notes bear the same Chairman (Governor) signature. I personally find the design for this note is quite nice especially on the back...

Indochina - This is an odd note of one piastre issued in (nd)1949. This is one of the very few notes from the French Indochina I have in my collection. The territory of French Indochina is basically referred to today's four independent countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. France occupying French Indochina commenced first with Vietnam in 1858 and fully occupied the country by 1887. France occupying Cambodia started in 1863 and Laos in 1893. During the Second World War, Japan replaced the French occupier in 1941 and the French returned in 1945 following the end of the war...

Samoa - On 08.12.2025, the Central Bank of Samoa finally released the two remaining polymer notes of 50 and 100 tala, thus completing the adoption of polymer notes in full. The current series of 5, 10 and 20 tala polymer were first released in late 2023 and early 2024...

Qatar - After waiting for almost 3 years, I now managed to get the last 100 riyals note to complete the 2022 reprints in full. These are the full set of seven notes all printed with the year date of 2022. These are the reprints of the fifth series, first issued on 18.12.2020 to coincide with the country's National Day celebration in 2020. I have been holding back from posting this set as I was missing the 100 riyal denomination to complete my collection for this series until now. I believe these are all hybrid banknotes...

Syria - Here are two 5000 pounds banknotes printed both with the same Gregorian year date of 2023. Whilst both are dated the same, the notes were not issued during the same Islamic calendar year. One note was released in the year 1444 (Islamic years ١٤٤٤ - prior to March 2023) and the other one was in 1445 (١٤٤۵ after April 2023). It is believed that these are the only two notes issued in 2023...

China - 新年快樂 This is the third commemorative polymer note of the Chinese New Year zodiac 12 cycle series, first introduced in 2025 with the Year of Dragon. For the year of 2026, it's the Year of the Horse. Traditionally, the celebration for Chinese New Year is for 15 days. In China, the official holidays are for 8 days starting from 15.02.2026. I am not sure if there are any other countries that have such long continuous public holidays for one single celebration? In China, the New Year is also referred to as the 'Golden Week' holidays. The designs and themes of this note are similar to the last two notes issued, featuring a Zodiac animal on the front and children activities on the back celebrating the new year. It is believed a hundred million pieces were issued to the public...

European Union - I have added €50 Hybrid note with the letter Y prefix (Greece). This is my missing series for the €50 denomination bearing the signature of Mario Draghi. You have to agree with me if you have been collecting banknotes for so long that you are bound to get some disappointment when you receive the note from the seller via post. This is one of those many disappointments. Despite confirming with the seller, this is neither UNC or even aUNC. At best I would grade this as EF+. It has a centerfold. Why would anyone want to ruin their brand name just for a few euro profit? Do they not think about repeat businesses from me?

Poland - Here is another commemorative note of 20 zlotych Hybrid officially released on 05.11.2025. Like all previous commemorative notes issued, this one is also released in a simple folder and is not intended for general circulation, as this note is sold at a premium. In addition to these banknotes, commemorative coins minted in gold and silver were also released in April 2025 honoring the reign and coronation of Boleslaw the Brave. This is the 17th commemorative banknote issued by the National Bank of Poland since 2006. The bank has the ability to issue commemorative banknotes as the country has not adopted the Euro Currency system yet. The country has not set a target to do so, and as long as they have their own currency, we may see more commemorative notes coming out of the central bank...

Cuba - This is a commemorative note dated 2025 and is issued to celebrate the country's 65 Years of Cuban Banking System (1960-2025). This note was reportedly issued officially on 21.10.2025. Whilst this note was issued to celebrate the country's 65th year of banking system, it is not much of a banking system or celebration as all banks in Cuba were nationalised in October 1960. The nationalisation of all banks in Cuba commenced on 17.09.1960, started with the three major US owned banks, namely - The National City Bank of New York, Chase Manhattan Bank (was then known as Chase National Bank) and Bank of Boston. The rest of the remaining banks were nationalised on 13.10.1960. However, two foreign banks were not initially included in this nationalisation programme, namely The Royal Bank of Canada and Bank of Nova Scotia. Despite this concession, these two banks later closed their operations in Cuba and both were acquired by the Cuban state by the end of 1960...

Mexico - Posted here is a full set of five notes issued between 2024 and 2025 commemorating the central bank's 100th Anniversary 1925 to 2025. Banco de Mexico (Bank of Mexico) was established on 1st of September 1925 with its current head office located in the capital city of Mexico. Only five notes have been issued for this commemorative series as the 20 pesos note is not included. The designs for all five notes are the same as all current series in circulation but with commemorative text/logo printed (as above) to celebrate this special occasion. Like the current series, both the 50 and 100 pesos are printed on polymer substrate materials...

Namibia - Here, I have posted a full for five notes all reportedly released on 30.09.2025. The themes for this series are the same as those previously issued but with modified designs and additional security features added to the notes. On the front, the notes depict two Namibia national heroes and on the back it features all four-legged wild animals. The two lower denominations of $10 and $20 are printed on Hybrid substrate materials and both have a transparent square window in the center right. The transparent window is measured 10 x 10mm. The remaining three notes are all printed on paper materials...

Shell V-Power Motorsport Collection 2025 Series -Well, they are back again. In October 2022, Shell Australia released seven Bluetooth remote control cars as toys or collectibles. In addition to the seven individual cars, Shell also released full sets in a presentation box at a price of A$124.95 per set. The presentation box also came with two rechargeable battery packs to power the cars. Fast forward 3 years, and in October 2025. Shell Australia again released another set of 8 Bluetooth remote control cars as toys/collectibles. This time, it is one car more than the 2022 series. The eight cars released for this second series are not the same as those released in 2022...

NRBT was not established until 1989. The notes posted here were the first series ever issued under the authority of NRBT and these notes belonged to the 1992 series...

Zambia - This set of six notes were first issued on 31.03.2025, with the denominations of 10, 20, 200 and 500 kwacha. I am not sure when the reminder notes of 50 and 100 kwacha were issued. The designs on all notes are new and all notes are printed with the year dated 2024. All notes on the front depict a flying African Fish eagle and a different image in the middle (underprint) on all the notes. On the back, a different tree is printed to the left, a waterfall and native wild animals. The designs on these notes, especially on the back, are related to tourism and it showcases the wildlife of the country and the natural beauty of Zambia's water falls...

Bhutan - I have added the two notes of 20 and 500 ngultrum to my previous post. These five notes issued between 2000-2001. I personally find these kinds of designs very nice and to me very desirable. They are not over designed nor are they over crowded with various security features added to the notes. To me a banknote tells a thousand stories and should be treated as a work of art and not simply just a negotiable instrument. This is just my own personal opinion. I do not believe these notes are rare nor expensive to buy either...

Falkland Islands - Here is a set of three notes all printed with the date of 14 August 2025. These three notes are all printed in polymer substrates and these are new series replacing the previous paper series first introduced in 1983 (£5 commemorative). The £50 denomination is not included in this new series as I believe this note is rarely used on the island and according to a local online news outlet, there is plenty of stock available for the £50 to last the demand for a long time before reprints are required...

This series was first introduced in 1974 and was printed by G&D (Giesecke+Devrient) in Germany. The last print for this series was 2002 and here are the three notes from the final print. This series was introduced with four notes and I do not have the 1000 ouguiya for this series. However, it should be noted that there are no 1000 ouguiya printed with the date of 28.11.2002. And given that only three notes were printed with this 2002 date, the three notes below are considered as a full set...

Fiji - On 04.11.2023, I posted the single note for the Fiji 100 cents polymer commemorative note with the design of a Chinese Dragon. This note was issued in a joint-venture between the Reserve Bank of Fiji and a company in China called China Coin Industrial Co. Limited (CCIC) trading as Shenzhen China Coin Investment Co. Limited. CCIC was granted full license to distribute this note and was first released on 08.08.2023. The intention for this note was to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dragon 2024. Since the release in 2023, it is not sure how successful this issue is and I wonder if they are still selling them or they are all sold out by now. If not, then I do not believe it will ever get all sold out as the note was sold at a pretty high price given the face value is nominal...

Somalia - Posted here are five notes, out of a possibility of 6, all reportedly printed in Sudan in 2010 but were never released until it surfaced recently (2023) in Sudan. Printing for these notes was ordered by the then Somalia Transitional Federal Government but was never released due to uncertainty of the country's economy or the weakest of the country's financial institutions at the time. Since then, these new banknotes were stored in Sudan awaiting further instruction. In April 2023, civil war broke out in Sudan between the two rival factions of the military government of Sudan, the Sudanese Armed Forces led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. Clashes between the two factions were reported in the capital city of Khartoum and in the Darfur region. Since then, these Somalia banknotes began to show up in the streets of Khartoum. So far only five notes (out of the possible 6) have been sighted and these are the 1000, 2000, 10000, 20000 and 50000...

Tonga - The two specimen notes posted here were printed with no signatures and with no dates either. I believe these two notes belong to the third series since 1921. The 20 pa'anga was first issued in 1985 (Series 1985-1989) and was issued by the Government of Tonga, whilst the 50 pa'anga was first issued 1988 and a reprint was issued with the year date of 1989. In general, the 50 pa'anga was a short series which has only been printed twice. However, this design was later re adopted and issued under the National Reserve Bank of Tonga. It is believed that the 50 pa'anga was issued as a commemorative note celebrating the King's 70th birthday...

Swaziland/eSwatini - Here are the two hybrid notes of 10 and 20 emalangeni both printed with the date of 1.4.2024. These are the first denominations of 10 and 20 emalangeni printed with the new name of the country, eSwatini since the name was adopted on 19.04.2018. Since the name changed, the central bank has printed/issued all denominations from 10 to 200 emalangeni. However, the 100 emalangeni has not been sighted yet, but is believed that this denomination has been printed. In addition, the bank has also issued a 50 emalangeni dated 1.4.2024 commemorative note celebrating the country's 50th Year Central Bank...

Singapore - I have added the $1000 bearing the signature of Tharma Shanmugaratnam. This note was reportedly released in 2017, and is printed with one tiny solid house on the back. The note that I have added is in circulated condition with 3 folds and looks like it has coffee stains on the bottom edge of the note. I believe there are only four $1000 printed for this series with the signature of Tharma Shanmugaratnam. It was reported that the Authority has ceased issuing the $1000 note since 01.01.2021. I now have three of these notes and the missing note that I do not have is the one printed with the two tiny symbols of solid houses...

Barbados - I knew about these reprints since June 2024 and only recently managed to get them recently. Posted here are the latest series of polymer notes, first introduced in 2022. The notes that I have posted here are all reprints of the 2022 series, but with a new bank governor's signature and dated 2024. Only five notes posted here as I am not sure if the $10 has been printed or issued. The first two notes of the $20 and $100 were reportedly released in June 2024. There are no changes in the design for this series, except that the notes are printed with the year date of Series 2024 and also with the new signature...

South Sudan - These are the two known notes issued with the year date of 2024 printed on the notes. These two notes were reportedly released on 12.06.2024. It is not sure if other denominations have been printed with the same year as per these two notes. Due to inflation and a weak currency, larger denominations of notes may be required, apart from these notes. The denominations of 500 and 1000 pounds were issued from 2020, and since then the central bank has not printed any banknotes that are lower than 500 pounds...

Abkhazia - On 08.08.2024, I posted the two notes of 10 and 100 apsar, both released on 10.06.2024. Here, I have added the 10 apsar note printed with the prefix of AB. According to some sites, this note is claimed to be a replacement prefix. As you can see, the normal notes are printed with the first prefix of AA and follow with 9 digits. A total of 500,000 pieces were reportedly printed and therefore the 9 digits serial numbers would cover the entire prints. I have no confirmation to say that this AB note is a replacement prefix, and I believe these are the only two prefixes have been sighted so far...

These are new currencies of Curacao and Sint Maarten called Caribische Gulden (Caribbean Guilder), replacing the previous currency of Netherlands Antillean Gulden/Guilder. As these are new currencies, all notes are also printed with the new central bank's name of the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten (Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten)...

This note was printed to honour the late President Hage Gottfried Geingob, and the note was released on 17.03.2025. Scotland, The Royal Bank of Scotland Limited - Here is the only ₤1 note of the 1981 series I have in my collection. This note belongs to the Scottish castles series. The design for this Edinburgh was first introduced in 1969 with the ₤5 note. In 1970, the bank issued another ₤5 note with the same theme and design but with different colours. In 1972, it released a full set of banknotes all depicting different Scottish castles on the back. Since then, the bank went on and issued the Castle series, albeit different designs, until 2017. However, despite releasing banknotes featuring various Scottish castles, the bank ceased issuing the ₤1 note after the 2001 series...

Thailand - This is a commemorative banknote of 100 baht, together with a 50 baht coin, celebrating the 150th year of the establishment of the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Finance of Thailand (MOF) was established on 14 April 1875. The MOF is a cabinet ministry responsible for overseeing Thailand's public finance, including taxation, the treasury, government properties and state-owned enterprises. In addition to these, it is also responsible for regulating the financial sector, providing loan guarantees and ensuring the government's financial stability...

Bermuda - Here are the two polymer notes released during the second week of November 2024. In 2009, Bermuda became the first country to issue a complete set of Hybrid banknotes with denominations of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. These Hybrid notes were printed by De La Rue (DLR). Is DLR abandoning their Hybrid banknote technology? Few countries adopted Hybrid banknotes over the last 10 years or so, and these have since been replaced, mostly with polymer notes. Given that DLR's Hybrid notes were first introduced more than 10 years ago, it appears that they are not that popular and most countries that have issued Hybrid notes are mostly from small countries, mostly from the Pacific nations. Bermuda is now one of the very few countries that have their banknotes printed on paper, hybrid and now polymer substrate material...

The two notes posted here are the first prefix AA19 and last prefix EA19. Both notes are in UNC condition, and I have had these in my collection for a few years now. South Sudan - Since I started collecting the South Sudan banknotes when the country became independent in 2011, I thought I should keep collecting them, as they are fairly cheap and quite easy to obtain. However, I must admit that I was a bit slack, as I am still missing two notes from the 2016 series, which I will have to look around eventually to complete my collection. Here I have posted the two notes of 500 and 1000 pounds both printed with the year date of 2023. I believe these are the only two notes printed/issued with this year's date...

Argentina - Posted here is the latest and largest denomination of note issued on 13.11.2024 with the face value of 20000 pesos. This is the largest value of note issued since the 1989-1991 series. This high value note was issued due to the country's ongoing high inflation rate. According to the central bank, this will be the highest denomination note for the 'Heroines and Heroes of Homeland' banknote series. Time will tell if more higher denominations of banknotes are required...

Singapore - I have added two notes of $2 (nd2024) and $10 (nd2025) to my previous post of the Tharma Shanmugaratran (tenure 2012-2023) series. Both are polymer notes. With the exception of the $1000 and $10000, I am still missing the $5 note printed with the symbol of one solid house. I doubt there are any new prints for the $10000 note as the government has ceased releasing this denomination since 2024.

Cayman Islands - Two notes of $25 and $50, both overprinted with commemorative logos for the celebration of Cayman Islands Monetary Authority's 25th Anniversary. The CIMA was established on 01.01.1997 as the primary financial services regulator a.k.a. central bank. The bank is situated in the capital city George Town in the Grand Cayman island, the largest of the three main islands of Cayman Islands. These two notes are both dated 2022 but only released in 2023. The design on both notes are the same as the two notes of $25 and $50 previously 2010 series issued but with added commemorative logo on the front for this celebration. These two notes were initially scheduled to be released in 2022 but were delayed until mid-2023. The prefix series for these two notes is D/4. Cayman Islands have a rather small population of 74,000+/- and as such it is not expected many banknotes issued, even for those for general circulation. If you are like me, and have these two notes in your collection, you would agree with me that these two notes are just well overpriced...

India - As per one of my previous posts, I have now posted another two 2000 rupees banknotes both dated 2017. On 19.05.2023, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of the 2000 rupees from circulation commencing on 30.09.2023. The 2000 rupees was the highest circulation banknote issued in India and the withdrawal was mainly due to illegal activities such as money laundering. The 2000 rupees banknote is not commonly used for transactions in the country and it is believed that many political parties like to hoard them to fund their election campaign expenses in order to get around tough spending limits imposed by the Election Commission. It is unlikely we will get to see another 2000 rupees series in the near future unless the circumstances have changed, like high inflation or some other economic situations that they are forced to issue one, or even with higher denominations like 5000 rupees...

Oman - This is a reprint of the 50 rials Hybrid note first issued in 2020. This note was initially issued as a commemorative note for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the rise of the Modern Omani Renaissance, and also in memory of its founder, the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur (b.1940-2020). Tonga - I posted a full set of six notes (nd)2023 on 01.05.2024. Now, I have posted another full set with matching serial numbers. This set was purchased recently at a show here and I bought this because it has matching low serial numbers. These are specially put together in a limited edition in folders and sold at a premium as Numismatic Collectable items. This set consists of 2 polymer notes and 4 paper banknotes. The denominations for 5 and 10 are both printed on polymer substrate. This is the first time polymer notes have been issued in the Kingdom of Tonga. This set was introduced on 04.12.2023 and is the 9th series of banknotes issued since 1921. The notes were issued to commemorate the birthday of the Kingdom's moderniser King Tupou I. King George Tupou I was born on 04.12.1797 and died on 18.02.1893. He was the King of Tonga from 1845 for 48 years until his death at the good old age of 95. He lived a very long life as this is very uncommon as life expectancy in those days was around 60...

Belarus - Here I have posted a full set of banknotes all printed with the year dated 2009. These notes were released into circulation on 01.07.2016. A complete set comprises eight notes. The first four notes for the lower denominations came from an exchange partner from Italy back in October 2016, and since then I have been wanting to get the remaining high value notes to complete my collection. Recently I found three dealers having the remaining four notes in stock, so I decided to buy them to complete my collection. Needless to say, the 200 and 500 rubles are not cheap to collect. This set of banknotes is now 9 years old, and there is no shortage in supply in the market. Since this series was introduced, a few reprints have been issued and you can tell by the year date printed on the center top left side of the note. The signature for the reprints are also omitted from the designs as well. Please note that there are two varieties for the 5 rubles for this 2009 series. It is fair to say that since the reprints are not quite the same as those initial issued series, the set that I have posted here is the only notes issued for this series...

Malaysia - Posted here is a full set of six notes from 1 to 100 ringgit (polymer and paper) all bearing the bank's governor's signature of Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus. This series was first introduced on 05.07.2009 with the 50 ringgit. I have all the notes except for the 20 ringgit for quite a while and only managed to get the missing 20 ringgit recently. The first two notes of 1 and 5 ringgit are both printed on polymer substrate and the rest are on paper...

Hong Kong, Bank of China - I have added the Hong Kong Bank of China $20 note dated 01.01.2022 commemorative note celebrating Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. This note is printed with the prefix of AB. Some sellers are selling this note as a replacement note, which I believe is incorrect. This series of notes are printed with the prefixes of AA, AB and without letter prefixes. With all three notes, I have now completed this series. All notes were issued in a folder...

Romania - This is one good thing about European Union members that are yet to adopt the European common currency - the Euro, for whatever reasons or restrictions they may be encountering. Since the issue of the Euro currency by The European Central Bank in 2002, the central bank has never issued any commemorative banknote, and this allows countries like Romania (and Poland too) to issue commemorative notes as and when it sees fit. And right now, it seems that Poland is the only EU member that has been non-stop producing commemorative banknotes on an annual basis - Go Polska! This note celebrates King Carol I's 185th birthday 1839-2024. This is the fourth commemorative note issued by Romania since becoming an EU member in 2007. This note is printed on a polymer substrate and issued in a folder with an envelope. Like those three previous issues, this 100 lei commemorative note is also issued as a numismatic product in limited edition and sold at a premium. A total of 30,000 sets in folders were released on 02.12.2024, at a price of 150 lei per set plus tax. In my opinion, 30,000 sets is quite a lot and should be sufficient to meet overseas demands as well...

These are the second phase of the 2020 series where the notes for 10 and 20 patacas were first issued for circulation in early 2023. Zimbabwe - Posted here are the two notes of 10 and 20 ZiG which were reportedly released on 08.04.2024. The initial report was that a full set comprises 8 notes and so far only two have been released and there are no further details for the rest of the series. However, recently it was reported that the bank is redesigning the notes to improve their quality and durability. These two denominations released in April 2024 are prone to wear and tear and the redesigned notes will have enhanced security devices to combat counterfeiting. For this reason, I have posted the first two notes here and will post the newer version of these new notes once they are available to the public...

Moldova - It always gives me enormous satisfaction when I manage to get a full set of uncirculated banknotes even though they are not that expensive, and especially these were issued more than 30+ years ago. Here is a full set of four notes issued by the National Bank of Moldova. These Cupon notes were released in stages and are dated 1992 (50 and 200 cupon) and 1993 (1000 and 5000 cupon). I understand that these are the first series of notes issued by the central bank since the bank was established in 1991, following the breaking up of the Soviet Union empire. Moldova achieved independence from the Soviet Union on 27.08.1991...

Philippines - On 19.12.2024, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines, Eli M. Remolona launched the three new polymer notes of 50, 100 and 500 piso. These three notes were complete the polymer series, since the first denomination of 1000 piso was introduced in 2022. For the three notes posted here, the 50 piso note is dated 2025, and the remaining two are dated 2024. For the purpose of this post, I have also included the 1000 piso issued earlier with the year date of 2024...

Thailand - A full set of five banknotes - 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 bahts. These notes belong to the 17 Series, which was first introduced in 2017 and 2018. Since then, there were few reprints issued but not in full sets. The below notes were reportedly released in (nd)2022 and I believe these are the only full sets issued since these were first introduced in 2017. The 20 baht note has since been replaced by a polymer series, whilst the rest are still printed on paper materials...

Czech Republic - These are the only two notes I have from the 1997-2018 series. The two notes posted here are the 100 and 200 koruna, both printed with the year date of 2018. The 100 koruna was first introduced in 1997, whilst the 200 koruna was introduced the following year. Despite being a member of the European Union since 2004, the Czech Republic has not adopted the Euro common currency yet. Out of the 27 EU members, seven nations have yet to adopt the Euro common currency. Until they all do, this can be seen as a weakness among the 27 members...

Mozambique - I have added this 1000 escudos note to my other three notes, thus completing my collection for this first post independence series. These notes were previously released by the Portuguese occupier and were first issued in Mozambique in 1970 for the 50 escudos, 1961 for the 100 escudos, 1967 for the 500 escudos and 1972 for the 1000 escudos. Mozambique became independent on 08.09.1974 and have decided to continue using the colonial currency until they can develop with a new currency with their own identity and value. In order to show that these are post-independence series, all notes issued are printed with the new central bank's name - Banco de Moçambique on the front. In 1980, the first 'Metical' currency was introduced...

France - This is the final note of France's last series before taking up the Euro common currency in early 2002. I have been wanting to get this note to complete my last French series collection. I do not have the entire series, but I do have one note each from all the denominations from 50 to 500 francs now. It was always my intention to get one note each before seeing them disappear from circulation, and this has been a making for 20+ years for me. I delayed getting this note due to the selling price and also I have other priorities for other notes to collect too. Furthermore, this note was issued so long ago, one has to be careful when buying one as all notes sold as uncirculating may actually not be in the condition described. This 500 francs came from the first print and is dated 1994. I did not aim for this as long as I have one in uncirculated condition...

China - On 03.01.2025, the central bank released the second polymer commemorative note of the new year series celebrating the Year of the Snake. It is unclear when the origins of the Chinese zodiac system first started, but it is believed this tradition was first established during the Han dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE). The Year of the Snake commences on 29.01.2025 and will end on 17.02.2026. In total, there are 384 days for the Year of the Snake and this is because it is a leap year in the Chinese calendar (13 months). People who are born in the Year of the Snake are said to be wise, enigmatic, and sympathetic. Are there any politicians born in the Year of the Snake?

Cambodia - This is a commemorative note of 200,000 riels issued on 16.10.2024 for the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Norodom Sihamoni. King Norodom Sihamoni was crowned on 29.10.2004 (-29.10.2024). This is the largest denomination of note issued in the Kingdom of Cambodia since 1955...

Iraq - Posted here are four notes of 5000, 25000 and 50000 (x2) dinars all printed with the year date of 2023. The 5000 note is printed on paper substrate material and the remaining are on hybrid substrate material. The two 50000 dinars notes are the same designs except it has different signatures on it. The first one is signed by Mustafa Ghaleb Mukheef, who was the bank governor from 2020 to 2023. He voluntarily resigned on 23.01.2023 due to the continuous falling in the value of the Iraqi dinar currency. He was then replaced by Mushen al-Allaq. Apart from the signatures and dates, there are no changes to the designs on all three notes.

The Netherlands Antilles - The Netherlands Antilles, also known as the Dutch Antilles are a group of Caribbean islands comprises the islands of Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten in the Lesser Antilles region, and Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire in the Leeward Antilles (south of the Caribbean). This country was created in 1954 as the autonomous successor of the Dutch colony of Curacao and Dependencies. This union of tiny nations was then dissolved on 10.10.2010 when each nation was granted specific statues by the government in the Netherlands. Since then, Curacao and Sint Maarten became autonomous countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, managing their own affairs with the exceptions of defence and foreign policy...

Yugoslavia - On 25.08.2024, I posted a 1000 dinara note dated 01.12.1931 issued by the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In my original post, I mentioned that this is the only note I have from this kingdom, and I have no intention to look out for any other notes issued for this series. I visited a local dealer recently for the first time and saw this beautiful 100 dinara note for sale. Obviously I am not good with my words, so I decided to buy this note because it is in uncirculated condition, albeit with a couple of small stains on the top edge of the note. Given that this note is 95 years old, I believe this is acceptable as the note is in great condition. No doubt that I will buy the remaining series if I can find them in the same or similar condition as this 100 dinara note. It is not easy to find old and large size notes in such great condition. Most large size banknotes tend to get folded the moment they are released by the banks, unless you received them by the bundles...

The three banknotes that I have posted here all have an adhesive stamp on the top left corner of the note and are considered as the first three notes issued by the Czech Republic following the breakout that split Czechoslovakia into two nations in 1993...

Singapore - I have added the following 2 notes with new symbols printed on the back all bearing the signature of Tharma Shanmugaratnam, who is now the President of Singapore since July 2023.

1) $2 - polymer with three solid houses nd2023; and

2) $100 - paper with two solid houses nd2024.

The date of release may not be correct. I am still missing the $2 with one inverted triangle, $5 with one solid house, and a few more for the $1,000 notes, which I have no intention to collect...

Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank - Here are the three known Standard Chartered Bank's banknotes issued with the date of 01.01.2023. The three notes are the $20, $50 and $500. It is not sure if others are also printed but not issued yet. The other two issuing-banknote commercial banks, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and Bank of China also released the denominations of $50 and $500 but none has released a full set for the 2023 series. However, Standard Chartered Bank did release a full set for the 2020 series from $20 to $1000...

East Caribbean States - This is a commemorative polymer note of $50 issued in August 2024 for the celebration of Grenada's 50th Year of Independence anniversary from the British. Despite gaining full independence, the country adopted a unitary parliamentary system with King Charles III as the Head of State (King of Grenada) and has been represented by a Governor-General, Dame Cecile Ellen Fleurette La Grenade since 2013. Grenada was one of the founding members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States when it was first established on 18.06.1981. Prior to this, Grenada was a member of the West Indies Associated States (together with Antigua, Dominica, Saint Christopher, Nevis, Anguilla, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent). Grenada's association ended in 1974 when it became independent.

Hong Kong, HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation - Here are the three reprinted banknotes of $20, $50 and $500, all printed with the date of 01.01.2023. This series was first introduced in 2018, and since then few reprints have been released in 2020, 2022, and now 2023. The initial release for the 2018 series was in full set of five notes, but since then only odd notes were reprinted for the 2020 (four notes), 2022 (one note) and 2023 dated (three) notes

Northern Ireland, Danske Bank - All three commercial banks in Northern Ireland have adopted polymer banknotes series since 2019. Unlike the Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank, Danske Bank is the only bank that did not issue a £5 polymer note. So far the bank has only introduced the £10 and £20 notes, and it is very unlikely that the £50 or the £100 polymer notes will be introduced either. Here, I have the £20 note dated 25.07.2022.

Morocco - On 21.07.2024, I posted the two notes of 100 and 200 dirhams Series 2023. Here I have added the remaining two notes of 20 and 50 dirhams all dated 2023. The notes for this series were released in stages. The first two notes of 100 and 200 dirhams were released in 2023 and the remaining two notes were made available in 2024.

Philippines - This is a reprint of the 1000 piso polymer note. This note was first introduced on 18.04.2022, and the note was dated 2022. The note posted here is dated 2023.

Tonga - Posted here are the three notes of 1, 2 and 5 pa'anga belonging to the nd1995 series. It is not sure when these three notes were issued, but most likely is between 1996 and 2000 given that the tenures for the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance both ended in 2000. This series was first introduced in 1995 and these three notes are the first reprints for the series. Only three notes were issued with these signature combinations. The first series consists of five notes of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 pa'anga.
