Recientemente ha sido el Día de San Valentín y quería hacer una entrada rápida en el blog, para enseñaros mi proyecto para esta fecha tan señalada.

Una caja en forma de corazón, con una sorpresita dentro...

It has recently been Valentine's Day and I wanted to make a quick post on the blog, just to show you my proyect for this romantic date.

A heart shaped box, with a little surprise inside...

Está totalmente hecha con la Silhouette Cameo; tanto la estructura de la caja como la base blanca y la blonda de flores de la tapa. Con la Cameo todo se hace más fácil y estoy muy contenta porque cada vez le saco más partido.

It is completely made with the Silhouette Cameo; the structure of the box, the white base and the flower doily from the lid. All become easier with the Cameo and I am very happy because every time I take more advantage of it.

No lleva muchos adornos porque iba muy justa de tiempo. En la parte supeior, al llevar la blonda, ya no necesita mucho más...pero si hubiera tenido más tiempo le habría dado algún que otro toque a mayores.

Me gustan mucho las cajas! Son estupendas para guardar cualquier tipo de detalle y hacerlo todavía más bonito, y luego, una vez cumplido su cometido, quedan muy decorativas.

It has almost no embellishments because I was very short on time. On the top, because it has the doily, it didn't need anymore...but if I would have had more time I would have put some more little embellishments.

I like boxes a lot! They are great for holding any type of gift and make it even prettier, and then, once completed their task, they are very decorative.

Espejo "Malma" alterado

Aquí vengo con otro objeto alterado. En este caso, se trata de un espejo "Malma" de esa famosa firma de muebles sueca que todos conocemos.

Here I come again with another altered object. In this case, it is a "Malma" mirror from that famous Swedish furniture company that we all know.

Lo hice para el bebé de unos amigos que acaban de ser papás recientemente, para que lo tuviesen de recuerdo y les sirviera también de decoración en la habitación del pequeño.

Me llevó bastante tiempo hacerlo, porque al tener tanto espacio en blanco en el marco no sabía muy bien como llenarlo y que quedase bien. Pero al final, después de mucho darle vueltas, quedé muy contenta con el resultado.

I did it for the baby of friends of mine who have just become parents recently, so that they might have it as a memory and serve them also as decoration in the room of the little baby.

It took me a long time to do it, because I had a lot of blank space in the frame and I didn't know how to fill it and that it turned out well. But in the end, after a lot of thought, I ended up with a very satisfactory result.

Para el fondo busqué unos papeles que coordinasen, y tapé el borde donde se juntan los dos papeles con una tira de washi tape de un color acorde. Encima de los papeles base, puse una especie de marco para el espejo con un borde de mariposas precioso, que corté con la Cameo. Y encima de este marco, un papel decorado también en tonos azules, rematando esa especie de "enmarcación" de la pieza central del espejo (que está tapado para que no reflejase en las fotos).

For the background I looked for some papers that coordinate, and I put washi tape, in the same color range, where both papers met. On top of the background papers, I created a sort of frame for the mirror with a beautiful butterfly border, that I cut with my Cameo. And on top of this frame, I put decorated paper in blue tones, finishing that kind of framing of the central part of the mirror (which is covered so it not reflected in the photos).

Las flores grandes, las azules, las hice yo a mano siguiendo un tutorial de Natasha Naranjo Aguirre, del blog "Moments of Tranquility", el cual os recomiendo muchísimo porque hace unas auténticas preciosidades! No me han quedado iguales que las suyas, porque no he utilizado los mismos troqueles que ella para la base de las flores.

I handmade the big flowers, the blue ones, following a tutorial of Natasha Naranjo Aguirre from "Moments of Tranquility" blog, which I highly recommend because she makes genuine works of art! They are not the same as hers, because I haven't used the same die cuts as her for the flowers base.

En la última foto, se puede apreciar el "glimmer mist" casero que llevan las flores, que les dan ese toque de brillo y color. Además las más pequeñas llevan los bordes entintados con tinta Distress Vintage Photo, para darles contraste y oscurecerlas un poquito más.

Me ha gustado muchísimo hacer las flores yo misma, sin comprarlas. Tengo claro que a partir de ahora haré muchas más! Además, ya no tengo excusa porque estas Navidades ha caído como regalito un kit de herramientas para modelar flores de la marca McGill al que le tenía muchas ganas. Así que, a hacer flores y más flores, que como me gustan poco...! jejeje :)

In the last photo, you can see the homemade "glimmer mist" on the flowers, it gives them a touch of brightness and color. The little ones have also the borders distressed with Vintage Photo ink, to give them contrast and to make them a little darker.

I liked a lot making the flowers myself, instead of buying them. I'm sure that I'm gonna make more handmade flowers from now on! Moreover, I have no excuse now because this Christmastime I was given a McGill Paper Blossoms Tool Kit as a gift, that I wanted for so long. So...flowers and more flowers! heheh :)

Quise personalizar el espejo un poco más, y para ello creé un banner con las letras que forman el nombre del bebé: "Brais", que por cierto, es un nombre gallego que me parece precioso.

I wanted to personalize the mirror a little more, and to do that I created a banner with the letter of the baby's name: "Brais", a galician beautiful name.

En un lateral hice un adorno con cintas de colores, como si fuera la parte trasera de un corsé. Me basé en un tutorial de Kay, del blog "The Kreative Korner", que también os recomiendo, igual que el anterior, ya que hace unos trabajos súper bonitos.

No me quedó exactamente como yo quería... Era la primera vez que usaba esta técnica, pero para la próxima quedará perfecto. ;)

On one side I made an embellishment with ribbon, as if it was the back of a corset. I've based on a tutorial of Kay from "The Kreative Korner" blog, that I highly recommend as well, since she makes really beautiful works.

It didn't turn out as I wanted...It was my first time using this technique, but next time it would be perfect. ;)

Otro de los elementos decorativos del espejo, es una chapa decorada (ya se están haciendo habituales en mis trabajos) con una imagen muy dulce de un bebé. Me encantan las chapas como decoración, creo que quedan genial! Y además se reutilizan, dándoles un segundo uso mucho más bonito :)

Another embellishment of the mirror, is a decorated bottle cap ( they are already becoming usual in my works) with a super sweet image of a baby. I love bottle caps as embellishments, I think they turn out great! And you are also reusing them, giving them a much more beautiful second life :)

Mini-album Día de la Madre - Mother's Day Mini-album

Hola!!!

Buscando y revisando, me he dado cuenta de que se me había quedado en el tintero algún que otro trabajo del año pasado. Y este que os traigo hoy es uno de ellos.
Es un mini-album que le hice a mi madre el año pasado como regalo por el Día de la Madre. Es uno de los primeros mni-albums que hice. En él quería poner fotos mías con ella (y con mi padre) desde que nací hasta la actualidad. Una especie de resumen de su "vida como madre", aunque sin ningún orden en particular. Y le gustó mucho. Se lo llevó al trabajo para enseñárselo a sus compañeras y todo...! Esa es la mejor recompensa a un trabajo en el que has puesto tiempo, esfuerzo y cariño: que guste! :)

Reviewing and looking for things, I've realized that I forgot to publish here some works of the past year. And this that I bring today is one of them.
It's a mini-album that I've made last year for my mum, as a Mother's Day present. It is one of the first minis that I've made. In this album I wanted to put photos of me with her (and also my dad) since I was born to the present. A kind of overview of her "life as a mother", but without any particular order. And she loved it. She even took it to work to show it to her co-workers! That is the best reward for a work in which you've put time, effort and love.

Como decoración de la portada puse unas flores de tela y unas mariposas a juego con los colores del mini.

To embellish the cover I've put some fabric flowers and some butterflies matching the colors of the mini.

Las mariposas y el papel de la portada llevaban unos toques de purpurina de distintos colores, repasando los contornos de las formas.

The butterflies and the paper from the cover are decorated with a bit of glitter of different colors, following the outlines of the shapes.

Al igual que la etiqueta, a la que también añadí glossy accents en las letras del título para resaltarlas un poco más.

As same as the label, to which I've put glossy accents in the letters of the title to highlight them a little more.

Es un álbum que lleva muchos desplegables, y eso permite poder añadir un mayor número de fotos de las que en un principio cabrían.

This is an album with a lot of pockets and hidden places, and that allows to add a higher number of photos than which initially would fit.

Como por aquel entonces aún no estaba en mi poder ese maravilloso regalo de cumpleaños, que llegaría mas tarde, -la Silhouette Cameo- que hace la vida de una scrapper mucho más fácil!...tuve que agudizar el ingenio para la decoración de las páginas.

Para esta en concreto, quería una blonda: así que tuve que fabricármela yo solita. Me imprimí una plantilla de círculo festoneado y la recorté sobre cartulina, le decoré los bordes, a modo de blonda, con un troquelador de corazón pequeñito y con los dos tamaños de agujeritos que hace la Crop-a-Dile. Y la verdad, es que me gustó el resultado!

Since then it was not in my possession that wonderful birthday gift, which later became, - the Silhouette Cameo- that makes a scrapper's life easier!...I had to sharpen the wits for the page embellishments.

For this in particular, I wanted a doily: so I had to make it myself. I printed a scalloped circle template and cut it in cardstock, and I embellished the edges, like a doily, with a little heart punch and the two sizes of holes that the Crop-a-Dile does. And I liked the result a lot!

En la siguiente página hice un bolsillo en el que coloqué unos tags que utilicé a modo de marcos de foto, con un espacio para journaling en la parte de atrás.

Los cierres de los "gatefolds" están hechos con un trozo de cartulina, unos brads y un poco de cordel, imitando el cierre de cierto tipo de sobres.

The closures of the gatefolds are made with a piece of cardstock, a pair of brads and a piece of string, like the closure of certain type of envelopes.

Se está acercando la Navidad, en nada y menos ya la tenemos ahí.
Y qué mejor momento para publicar esta entrada de un nuevo trabajo navideño!

Se trata de un intercambio de Amigo Invisible navideño que se ha organizado en un grupo al que pertenezco: ATC Olé. Y este es el regalito que le he enviado yo a mi amiga invisible. Un tag de Navidad!

Christmas is near, it's almost here.
And what a best moment to publish this post of a new Christmas work!

It's a Secret Santa Christmas swap, that was organized in a group to which I belong: ATC Olé. And this is the gift I've given to my partner. A Christmas Tag!

He querido colocar muchas superposiciones para dar sensación de volumen, y he intentado que quedase todo en armonía.

En este tag he usado varias técnicas nuevas para mí, que no había utilizado antes. Pero, sin duda, después de probarlas las volveré a usar, porque me han encantado!
Una de esas técnicas es el ya "archiconocido" embossing. Dejadme deciros que me E-N-C-A-N-T-A!! Otro vicio más! jejeje

I wanted to put a lot of layers go give it volune, and at the same time, I've tried to give it a soft and harmonious look to the tag.

In this tag I've used several techniques new for me, that I haven't used before. And, without a doubt, after trying them I will use them again, because I've loved them!

One of these techniques is the well known embossing. Let me tell you I L-O-V-E it!!! Another vice! heheheh

Para hacer el embossing de este tag estrené varias cosas que compré en la Feria Creativa de este año en Madrid, que ya tenía ganas!
Está hecho con un sello de Artemio de "escritura a mano" que me parece precioso y que resultó muy adecuado al proyecto. Nunca había tenido antes productos de esta marca, y tengo que decir que los sellos al menos, que es lo que he probado yo, son buenísimos: muy fáciles de utilizar y de limpiar.
La tinta es Versamark. Estuve en dudas sobre qué tinta de embossing transparente comprarme, pero creo que hice una buena elección ya que me resultó súper fácil trabajar con ella. Y los polvos de embossing son de la marca Aladine, en un tono dorado precioso! Tampoco conocía esta marca, pero confirmo lo que me comentastéis algunas en los grupos de Facebook, son muy buenos! Se trabaja con ellos súper fácilmente y el resultado final me parece precioso.

To do the embossing in this tag I've used time several products for the first time, which I've purchased in Creativa craft trade show this year in Madrid, that already I wanted to!
It's made with a "hand-written" stamp from Artemio that I think is lovely, and that was very suitable for the project. I've never had products from this brand before, and I have to say that, at least the stamps, wich is what I've tried, are very good: very easy to work with and to clean.
The ink is Versamark. I was in doubt about what kind of transparent embossing ink to buy, but I think I did a good choice with this one since it was super easy to work with it. And the embossing powder is from Aladine, in a beautiful gold tone! I haven't either known this brand, but I confirm what several of you had told me at Facebook groups, this is great! You can work with it super easily and the end result is beautiful.

Al tag le creé una especie de bolsillo en el que inserté un par de mini-tags.

I've made a sort of pocket in the tag, in which I've put a couple of mini-tags.

El bolsillo está sujeto con un brad dorado. Y los mini-tags también llevan motivos navideños.

The pocket is attached with a gold brad. And the mini-tags have also Christmas motifs.

La imagen central del tag es una escena navideña con nieve, que coloqué sobre una blonda pequeña a la que le puse "glimmer mist" casero (otra técnica que estoy probando aún) y unos tickets navideños.

The main image of the tag is a Christmas scene with snow, that I've put over a little doily wich I've sprayed with homemade "glimmer mist" (another technique that I'm still working on) and some Christmas tickets.

Otra de las técnicas nuevas que he incorporado en este trabajo es la del adorno que se ve en la parte inferior: chapas decoradas. Me gustan mucho como adorno, quedan muy bonitas. Y se le puede poner cualquier imagen que vaya a juego con el trabajo.

Another new technique that I've incorporated in this work is the one seen at the bottom: decorated bottle caps. I like it a lot as an embellishment, it's very nice. And you can use on it any image that fits your project.

La parte trasera del tag la he decorado con una imagen de una postal vintage y una etiqueta de Papá Noel que es perfecta para poner la fecha por detrás.

The back of the tag is decorated with an image of a vintage postcard and a label of Santa Claus wich is perfect to put the date on the back of it.

Mini-álbum con Rollos de Papel - Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album

Este mini-álbum es la segunda parte del regalo de cumpleaños de una muy buena amiga. La primera parte del regalo ya os la puse aquí en un post previo: la letra alterada de madera "A".

This mini-album is the second part of a gift to a very good friend of mine. The first part of the gift I have already showed here on a previous post: a wooden altered letter.

Ella se quedó encantada, incluso se emocionó. Y no hay nada más gratificante que ver la cara de alguien que realmente aprecia y valora lo que haces, y el esuerzo que pones, al recibir un regalo de tu parte hecho especialmente para esa persona.
El álbum pretendía ser una especie de mini-resumen de nuestra amistad a lo largo del tiempo, por eso he incluído fotos de diferentes momentos desde que nos conocimos.

La base del mini son rollos de papel higiénico, que hacen de bolsillos en los que se introducen tags, y al mismo tiempo son las páginas del álbum.
Son albumes con una estructura muy sencilla y fácil de hacer. Y, a la vez, permiten muchas posibilidades en cuanto a la disposición de los elementos en las páginas, a pesar de su reducido tamaño.

She was charmed, even thrilled. And there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the face of someone who really appreciates and values what you do, and the effort that you put on it, to receive a gift especially made for that person.
The MA was intended to be a sort of "mini-summary" of our friendship over time, that's the reason why I've included photos of different moments since we met.

The base of the mini are toilet paper rolls, that make pockets in which tags are introduced, and at the same time, are the pages of the album.
They are albums with a very simple structure and easy to do. And, at the same time, they allow many possibilities regarding the disposal of the elemnts in the pages, despite their small size.

La encuadernación es muy sencillita: se sujeta simplemente con dos anillas metálicas, a las que les he añadido unas cuantas cintas y fibras para adornarlas un poco.
El cierre está hecho con unas cadenas de diferente grosor, a las que les he colgado varias perlas a diferentes alturas, y un par de clips decorados con washi tape. Las cadenas van enganchadas a los clips, y cada uno de los clips va sujeto a la portada y contraportada del álbum, para mantenerlo cerrado, ya que tiene bastante volumen debido a los adornos interiores.

The binding is very simple: the album is fastened with two binding rings, to which I have added a few ribbons and fibers to embellish them just a bit.
The closure is made with two chains of different thickness, with several pearls hanging from them at different heights, and a pair of clips decorated with washi tape. The chains are attached to the clips, and each of the clips is attached to the front and back cover of the album, to keep it closed, since it has quite volume due to the interior embellishments.

Como elemento decorativo principal de la portada del álbum, he usado un flor grande, a la que he añadido otras más pequeñas, y una pluma (me encantan las plumas!). También lleva un alfiler decorado que he hecho con diferentes abalorios (prometo un próximo post sobre ellos!). Me parece un adorno súper bonito como toque final; se lo pongo a casi todas las tarjetas que hago. En la parte inferior (aunque quizá no se aprecie bien) lleva una cinta preciosa que lleva abalorios colgando.

The main decorative element of the cover is a big flower, to which I added others that are smaller, and a feather (I love feathers!). It also has a stick pin that I made with several beads (I promise a post soon about this!). I think this is a nice ornament as a final touch; I put it on almost every card that I make. At the bottom (although perhaps it doesn't appreciate well) there's a ribbon with beautiful beads hanging from it.

Como ya os he dicho, cada una de las páginas es también un bolsillo en el que he puesto tags. He aprovechado los tags para poder incluír más fotos en el álbum.

Like I said, each page is also a pocket in which I've put tags. I used the tags as photo mats to include more photos in the MA.

Al círculo le pegué un trozo de acetato transpartente, así hace las veces, al mismo tiempo, de marco y de bolsillo. La foto la recorté en forma de círculo, le puse un ojal y una cinta, como si se tratase de un tag, que se puede meter y sacar del bolsillo.

I glued a piece of acetate to the circle, so it functions, at the same time, as a frame and a pocket. I cut the photo in a circle shape, I put an eyelet and a ribbon on it, like if it was a tag, that can be introduced in the pocket.

En esta página creé un bolsillo lateral, adornado con un falso cosido y una cinta de pasamanería. Dentro he puesto un pequeño tag con una foto y un poco de journaling.

In this page I've made a lateral pocket, embellished with a fake sewn and a passementerie trim. On the inside I've put a little photo mat with a photo and some little journaling.

La parte inferior va adornada con un trocito de washi tape de sellos postales y escritura, que iba genial con la temática de "postal" del journaling.

The bottom is embellished with some washi tape of postage stamps and some handwriting, that matches perfectly with the theme of a postcard of the journaling.

En medio de las dos páginas he introducido un adorno con forma de jaula de pájaros, a la que le he puesto unos toques de brillo con unos brillantitos adhesivos.

In the middle of the two pages I have entered a birdcage, with a few touches of shine.

La página siguiente es un desplegable en el que he puesto varias fotos, con espacios también para journaling.

The next page is a flip-flap mini with several photos, and also with journaling spots.

En esta página he puesto un marco con forma de cartoncillo de "packaging" con dos fotos, y está sujeto a la página con una mini-pinza de madera.

In this page I've made a frame with two photos, and it is attached to the page with a tiny wooden clothespin.

Aquí creé una especie de ventana que hace de marco para una foto. He pegado por detrás un par de trozos de acetato transparente para que simulen el cristal de la ventana. Se mantiene cerrada gracias a la flor que está en la parte superior, que le hace de tope.

Here I've made a sort of window as a frame for a photo. I've glued two pieces of acetate like if they were the glass of the window. It stays closed because of the flower that is at the top of the page.

En esta página he puesto un mini-desplegable que esconde una foto y un espacio para journaling.

Se mantiene cerrado con un pequeño trozo de velcro.

En esta página usé como base una blonda pequeña que he entintado con tinta distress Vintage Photo. Encima, he colocado una etiqueta con la definición del diccionario de la palabra "Amistad".

In this page I used a little doily as my base, which I distressed with Vintage Photo distress ink. On top, I've put a label with the dictionary definition of the word "Friendship".

Libro de firmas para bebé - Guestbook for a baby

Este libro de firmas lo hice para el bebé de una compañera de trabajo.

I made this guestbook for the baby of a co-worker.

Creé todo desde cero, incluídas las tapas, cuya base es cartón reciclado de cajas.
La encuadernación que hice para este libro está basada en un tutorial de Tricia Morris del programa "The Scrapbook Lounge" de TVWeekly.com Os dejo el enlace al vídeo en Youtube aquí.

I made everything from scratch, including the covers, whose base is recycled cardboard boxes.

Para la decoración de la portada, hice un carrito de bebé. Es muy fácil de hacer: la forma base es un círculo al que se le recorta un trozo, y luego se decora al gusto. En mi caso utilicé perlas, lentejuelas, botones (para las ruedas), puntilla y un charm.
El otro elemento decorativo de la portada es un banner con el nombre del bebé. Me encantan los banners como motivo infantil, quedan muy monos! Las letras son de un alfabeto de madera, que le da más volumen, y están pintadas con pintura acrílica de color azul pastel.

To embellish the front page, I did a stroller. It is very easy to do. The base is a circle without a piece, and then it is embellished to the taste of each one. In my case, I used flatback pearls, sequins, buttons (for the wheels), lace and a charm.
The other decorative element on the cover is a banner with the name of the baby. I love banners as children decoration, they are very cute! The letters are from a chipboard alphabet, which gives more volume to the cover, and they are painted in blue acrylic paint.

Para decorar la primera página y la última del libro utilicé el mismo papel, salvo que en la última página añadí una etiqueta.

To embellish the first and also last page of the book I used the same paper, except that on the last page I added a label.

Como no quería que fuese un simple libro de firmas en blanco sin más, decidí añadir un par de páginas con fotos decoradas.
Primero, incluí una pequeña dedicatoria de parte de los padres para todo aquel que firme en el libro.

As I didn't want it to be a simple guestbook in blank, I decided to add a couple of pages with decorated photos.
First, I included a little dedication from the parents for all who sign in the book.

La siguiente página la protagoniza una preciosa foto de los papás juntos, en los últimos meses del embarazo. Las fotos de las mamás embarazadas me parecen un recuerdo precioso para cuando el niño sea mayor. Son preciosas!
Para la decoración, usé flores de I Am Roses (excepto la rosa blanca, que es de la tienda CASA), puntilla, plumas y un poco de tela de saco.

The next page has a beautiful photo of the parents together, in the last months of pregnancy. Photos of pregnant mothers seem to me a beautiful keepsake for when the child grows. They are lovely!
For the decoration, I used flowers from I Am Roses (except for the white rose, wich is from CASA store), lace, feathers and a little of burlap.

The little piece of paper that says "Dulce Espera" (The Anticipation) is made with a corner punch.

Para la segunda página elegí una foto que quedó muy bonita del bebé recién nacido, en el hospital.

For the second page I chose a photo that was very nice of the newborn baby, in the hospital.

Uno de los adornos de la página es un rosetón que hice a mano con una troqueladora de bordes y otra de un círculo festoneado para la flor interior. Son muy fáciles de hacer y se terminan en un momento, además de quedar bonitos. Buscando "paper rosettes" en Youtube salen montones de tutoriales que explican como hacerlos.

One of the embellishments of the page is a paper rosette that I handmade with a border punch and a scalloped circle punch for the center flower. They are very easy to do and they are made quickly, in addition to be beautiful.

Puse una pequeña tarjeta de journaling para que sus papás apunten a mano (que me parece que queda más auténtico) todos los datos del nacimiento del bebé, para recordarlos en el futuro.

I put a small journaling card so that his parents write by hand (I think it is more authentic) all data from the birth of the baby, to remember them in the future.

Las páginas interiores las dejé completamente en blanco para que hubiese espacio para las firmas y dedicatorias. Únicamente decoré las esquinas con una troqueladora de esquinas.

Cartoncillos para las puntillas - Ribbon Spools

Hola!

Hoy os traigo una especie de mini-tutorial para mostraros cómo guardo y organizo yo mis puntillas. Que por cierto, me encaaaantan las puntillas! Se las pongo a todo. Y por esto, como las utilizo mucho, quería que fuese un sistema que me permitiese verlas de un vistazo y que fuese práctico, pero que además fuese algo bonito e inspirador. Y la mejor idea para lograr esto, me pareció usar cartoncillos o ribbon spools, pero decorados.

Today I'm gonna show you how I store and organize all my lace trims, in a mini-tutorial. I looooove lace! I use it all the time, for almost everything. And for that reason, because I use them a lot, I wanted a store system that would be practical and that would allow me to see them at a glance, but also something beautiful and inspiring. And I thought the best idea was using decorated ribbon spools.

Resultó que tenía por casa unas cintas que venían en un packaging con este formato, y que además me encantaba la forma; así que fue lo que usé como plantilla. Os pongo aquí la imagen escaneada, ya recortada en cartón y a tamaño real, de uno de estos cartoncillos por si lo queréis utilizar como plantilla para hacer los vuestros.

It turned out that I had some ribbon at home, which came in this packaging of ribbon spools, and I also loved the shape of it; so I used it as a template. Here it is the scanned image, in actual size, of one of these ribbon spools which I cut, if you'd like to use it as a template to make your own spools.

Vamos allá!

Lo primero que hice fue usar la plantilla para recortar esa forma sobre el cartón de cajas de galletas, cereales...en vez de en cartulina normal, ya que es un poco más gordito, para darle más consistencia. Entinté los bordes con tinta distress (vintage photo), para que no se viese tanto luego el cartón.

Here we go!

The first thing I did was using the template to cut the shape on cardboard from boxes of cookies, cereals...instead of regular cardstock, to give it a little thickness. I used Vintage Photo distress ink for the edges.

Luego imprimí unas cuantas imágenes de temática vintage (se pueden utilizar las que más os gusten a vosotros: en cuestión de gustos no hay nada escrito) que me gustaban para decorar los cartoncillos. Volví a usar la plantilla para dibujar la forma sobre las imágenes, procurando centrar el motivo que me interesaba de la imagen. Puse la misma imagen en ambas caras del cartón.

Then I printed some vintage images ( you can use what you like) that I liked to decorate the spools. I used again the template to draw the shape on the images, trying to get the image centered. I put the same image on both sides of the cardboard.

Como no me quedaban ambas caras del cartón simétricas, porque es un poco difícil cortar cartón que es grueso, y tenía que dibujar la forma sobre la imagen impresa (y no en el dorso) para ver que iba centrado, lo que hice fue: con el mismo cartón que tenía ya pre-cortado para forrar con el papel, dibujaba un lado del cartón y luego le daba la vuelta para que fuese centrado en ambos lados.

As I did not have both sides of the cardboard symmetrical, because it is a little difficult cutting thick cardboard, and I had to draw the shape on the printed image to see if it was centered, here's what I did: with the same cardboard that I was going to use with the paper, I drew the shape on one side and then I turned it over, so it was centered on both sides.

Después, lijé los bordes del papel ya recortado con una lima, para redondear un poco las formas y darle un buen acabado.

Next, I sanded the edges of the paper with a nail file, for rounding shapes a little and give it a good finish look.

Y, cómo no, entinté los bordes con tinta distress Vintage Photo, para darle un toque envejecido que va muy bien con las imágenes vintage.

And I used Vintage Photo distress ink for the edges, to give it an aged look.

El siguiente paso es pegar el papel decorado a ambas caras del cartón. El adhesivo que me parece más adecuado es la cola blanca o pegamento escolar transparente, ya que con cinta de doble cara y otros adhesivos similares quedarían siempre huecos sin pegar y esquinitas levantadas.

The next step is glue the decorated paper to both sides of the cardboard. The adhesive that seems most suitable is white or clear glue, like Elmer´s glue, since with double sided tape it would always end up with lifted corners and it would not stick completely.

Es mejor poner el pegamento sobre el cartón, en vez de sobre el papel decorado ya que éste tiende más a doblarse. Sé que esto no es lo que se muestra en las fotos, pero aprendí a base de prueba-error jejejeje

It is better putting the glue on the cardboard instead of on the decorated paper, since this tends to bend.

Para que el pegamento quede uniforme por toda la superficie y bien extendido, me parece mejor trabajar con un pincel-esponja en vez de con un pincel normal. Pero vamos, que si no se tiene a mano, con un pincel normal también se extiende fácilmente.

So that the glue is evenly over the entire surface and well stretched, it seems better to work with a foam brush instead of a normal brush. But if you don't have it on hand, you can also use a normal brush to extend the glue easily.

Y para terminar, es recomendable, una vez pegado el papel, pasarle una plegadera o una regla por encima para quitar cualquier burbuja de aire que pueda haberse formado y que quede todo perfectamente pegado.

And finally, it is recommended, once glued paper, to pass a bone folder or a ruler above the paper to remove any air bubbles that may have formed and that it is all perfectly sticked.

Y ya tenemos listos nuestros cartoncillos o spools para usarlos con nuestras cintas o putillas.

And we have our spools ready for use with our ribbons or lace trims.

Letra Alterada - Altered Letter

Estoy muy contenta porque dentro de nada ya empieza Creativa Madrid. Y sí, este año voy a poder ir. Mi primera feria!! Me hace mucha ilusión y tengo muchas ganas de ir.
El viernes ya me voy a Madrid, y el sábado estaré por Creativa. Creo que muchas de vosotras también iréis el sábado, así que a ver si coincidimos... Espero poder hacer un post a la vuelta.

I am very happy because within a short time it begins Creativa Madrid. And yes, this year I will be able to go. My first crafts trade show!! Yay! I am very excited.
On Friday I'm leaving to Madrid, and on Saturday I'll be on Creativa. I think that many of you are also going on Saturday, so perhaps we meet...I hope to be able to write a post on my return.

Pero antes de irme a Creativa, quería publicar una entrada en el blog.
Lo que traigo hoy es muy especial para mí, por muchas razones, entre ellas que lo hice para una persona también especial: una gran amiga.
Otra de las razones es que nunca me había atrevido a alterar objetos y no sabía si sería capaz, si quedaría bien...pero me encantó hacerla, y me encantó el resultado!! Mi primer objeto alterado con éxito! Tanto me gustó, que debo confesar que al final, después de todo el trabajo y tiempo invertido, me costó un poquito desprenderme de ella... jejejej Pero bueno, eso lo hace un regalo más especial. Definitivamente, tengo que hacerme alguna para mí!
Se la entregué por su cumpleaños junto con otro regalito, que ya os enseñaré más adelante.
Cuando estaba abriendo el regalo, creo que estaba yo incluso más nerviosa que ella, porque no sabía si le gustaría...(para gustos, colores) Pero mereció la pena, al ver su cara cuando la sacó de la caja. ^_^

But before I go to Creativa, I wanted to make a post on the blog.
What I bring you today is very special for me, for many reasons, among them that I did it for a special person: a great friend.
Another reason is that I have never dared to do altered objects and I didn't know if I would be able to do it, if it would be good...but I loved doing it, and I love the result!! My first successfully altered project! I liked it so much that, I must confess that at the end, after all the work and time spent on it, it was a little hard to give it away...hehehe But well, that makes the gift more special. I have definitely to make one for my own!
I gave it to her for her birthday along with other gift, that I will show you later.
When she was opening the package, I think that I was even more nervous than her, because I didn't know if she would like it...But, when she opened it, the look on her face made it all. ^_^

Aquí está mi primera letra alterada:

Me fue imposible encontrar una base para la letra, por más que busqué y busqué... Así que al final, la base me la fabricó a mano el padre de mi novio, que es un manitas con la madera. Hace unos hórreos de madera preciosos!! Y yo encantada, porque la hizo a mi medida, tal y como yo se la pedí. Bueno, la forma de la letra fue cosa suya, y eso que la hizo sin plantilla ni nada...! Así que este es el "antes":

It was impossible to find a base for the letter, however hard I tried...So finally, my boyfriend's father made the base for me. He is very good with his hands. He makes beautiful wooden objects!! I was delighted because he made it as I asked for. Well, he made the form of the letter by his own, without a template or anyting...! So this is the "before":

Pinté toda la base de la letra con pintura acrílica metalizada de color oro viejo, menos los laterales que los cubrí con washi tape dorado y violeta, que son los colores predominantes en toda la letra.

I painted all the base of the letter with old gold metallic acrylic paint, except the sides which I covered with gold and purple washi tape, which are the predominant colors on the letter.

Para adornarla, puse en la parte inferior unas flores en diferentes tonos violetas de "I Am Roses" (os las recomiendo muchísimo), y una filigrana de Maya Road.

To decorate, I put at the bottom flowers in various shades of purple from "I Am Roses", and a chipboard flourish from Maya Road.

En la parte de arriba puse un charm de un mariposa en oro viejo.

At the top I put a butterfly charm in old gold.

Otro de los adornos es un alfiler decorado que hice con diferentes abalorios en los mismos tonos violetas.

Another embellishment is a stick pin that I made using various beads in the same in the same shades of purple.

En la parte de abajo le puse unas cadenitas doradas con diferentes charms colgando a distintas alturas.

At the bottom I put some little gold chains with various charms hanging at various heights.

Tarjeta Interminable o Never Ending Card

Esta tarjeta la hice hace ya algún tiempo para felicitar a mi mejor amiga por su cumpleaños. Era de las primeras cosas que hacía, pero quería que fuese especial. Le gustó mucho, así que eso me animó a seguir haciendo más Scrap.

I made this card some time ago for my best friend's brithday. It was one of my first works, but I wanted it to be special. She liked it very much, so that encouraged me to continue doing more Scrapbook.

Había visto varios tutoriales en la Red de este tipo de tarjetas, y me gustó mucho el formato porque es muy interactiva. Así que decidí hacerle una.
Lleva más tiempo hacerla que una tarjeta normal, porque tiene más espacios que decorar, pero el resultado merece la pena!

I have seen several tutorials on Internet of this type of card, and I really liked the format because it's very interactive. So I decided to make her one.
It takes more time to do it than a normal card, because it has more space to decorate, but the result worth it!

Para la portada utilicé como elemento decorativo principal un cupcake hecho a base de recortes de papeles, perfecto para aprovechar todos esos restos que siempre nos quedan de trabajos anteriores.
Para hacerlo, utilicé una plantilla que encontré en una página dedicada a los sketches. Os la pongo por aquí por si os puede ser útil. En esta misma página hay un montón de sketches más: de una página, de dos, de tarjetas... Nunca vienen mal!

For the cover I used a cupcake, made from scraps, as the main decorative element, perfect to take advantage of all those scraps that always remains from previous projects.
To do the cupcake, I used a template that I found on a page dedicated to sketches. I put here the link if it could be useful for you. In this web there are a lot of other sketches: one-page sketches, two-page sketches, card sketches...

Siguiendo la misma idea que con el cupcake hice otro adorno en forma de flor, aprovechando restos de papeles, añadiéndole un brad en el centro.

Following the same idea I made another embellishment: a flower also made from scraps of paper, adding a brad in the center.

Como me apetecía poner alguna foto, se me ocurrió hacer un bolsillo con unos tags dentro para poder ponerlas.

As I wanted to put some photos, I decided to make a pocket with some tags inside where to place the photos.

Para las que no la conozcáis, esta "maravilla" es una máquina de corte electrónica. Hay otras muchas en el mercado, como por ejemplo la Cricut. Funciona básicamente como si fuera una impresora, pero en vez de imprimir las imágenes, las recorta.
Una de las ventajas que yo le encuentro a ésta es que no necesita ni cartuchos (que pueden ser un poco caros) ni planchas de corte, como otras máquinas tanto electrónicas como manuales. Y eso supone, a final de cuentas, un ahorro importante tanto de dinero como de espacio, ya que al no necesitar elementos adicionales no hay que estarlos almacenando, ocupando un espacio muy valioso en una Scrap Room (sí, vale! tendemos a acumular mucho material! jajaj). Aunque, claro está, en ésta se gaste más dinero inicialmente porque es más cara que las otras.
Otra de las cosas geniales que hace es que tú puedes imprimir directamente imágenes en tu impresora, y luego con la Cameo se generan una especie de marcas de corte y te recorta las imágenes impresas, dejando unos cortes limpios. No más bordes mal cortados! Síii!

For those who don't may know it, this "wonder" is an electronic cutting machine. There are many others in the market, as for example the Cricut. It works basically as if it were a printer, but instead of printing the images, it crops them.
One of the advantages that I find to this machine, is that you don't need cartridges (which can get pricey) or dies, as other machines both electronic and manual. And that means, in the end, an important saving both money and space, since it doesn't need additional elements to be stored, occupying valuable space in a Scrap Room (yes, ok! we tend a little bit to accumulate a lot of stuff! hahaha).
Although, of course, you spend more money initially on the Cameo because it is more expensive than the others.
Another great thing this machine does, is that you can directly print images on your printer, and then the Cameo prints a kind of guide lines and crops your printed images, leaving clean cuts. No more poorly cut edges! Yay!!

Tarjeta de felicitación

Hoy traigo un doble estreno: mi primera entrada en el blog y mi primera tarjeta. Bueno, mi primera tarjeta "propiamente dicha", ya que he hecho alguna otra pero ya con alguna foto y demás... a modo de mini-album.
La hice por el cumpleaños de una amiga, a la que además le dimos una pequeña fiesta sorpresa.

Today I bring a double premiere: my first blog post and my first card. Well, my first "proper" card, since I made any other but already with photos and other stuff...as a mini-album.
I made this card for a friend's birthday, to which we also did a small surprise party.

He de decir que me ha encantado hacerla! Sin duda haré más, ya que es un trabajo muy gratificante. Lleva relativamente poco tiempo hacerlas, y ves el resultado de forma rápida. No hay que esperar un montón de tiempo para ver tu trabajo terminado, como por ejemplo con los álbumes. Y si quedas satisfecha con el resultado, eso te incentiva para querer hacer más.

I have to say that I loved to do it! I will certainly make some more, since it is a very rewarding work. It takes relatively little time to do them, and you see the final result quickly. You don't have to wait a lot of time to view your finished work, as for example with the albums. And if you are satisfied with the result, that encourages you to want to do more.

Uno de los adornos es un lazo doble. Para hacerlo es mejor utilizar una cinta que sea igual por ambas caras, ya que se van a ver las dos al hacer las lazadas. En mi caso he usado una cinta que es ligeramente diferente en una de las caras, pero es la que tenía a mano en ese momento...Es muy fácil de hacer; hay varios tutoriales en la red. Os dejo aquí el link de uno de ellos por si queréis echar un vistazo.

One of the embellishments is a double bow. It is better to use a ribbon that is the same on both sides, because you will see both sides when you make the loops. In my case I used a ribbon which is slightly different on one side, but it was what I had on hand... It is very easy to do, there are several tutorials on Internet. Otro adorno que le he puesto a la tarjeta es un alfiler decorado. Es muy sencillo hacerlos y quedan realmente bonitos. Haré una entrada sobre ellos más adelante...

Tanto las etiquetas como las piezas de las esquinas están pegadas con cinta de doble cara gruesa, para darle un poco de volumen.
