Dear blog,

I am so sorry that I neglected you so much last year. I am pretty busy but it's no excuse. I used to try and post twice a week and it was a good practice, it helped me develop so much. I really hope to get back to it soon. Especially as I really need to be sketching more and trying out new ideas between assignments. The pictures I've posted today are from a job in progress. I will post proper images once it is published. I have also done a few website redesigns and some flyers lately.

Busy learning dutch, busy dancing, busy working on a couple of websites but not busy enough sketching and making new illustrations. I have just taken on a new client though that looks like been fun and am determined to get back sketching. In the mean time take a look at awesome orientalist painter -
Ludwig Deutsch over on this fine blog. Loving the colour, atmosphere and compostions . . .

It was so hard to choose any one pic so I just grabbed this at random. Be sure to see the others.

Also whilst I am sharing influences check this lot out --- mid-20Century illustrators --- there are too many greats here to pick all my favourites out but, Al Parker, Bernie Fuchs, Bob Peak and Harry Beckoff all blow my mind and so many others to so take a look. Nursery Rhymes CD

I finally got a copy of the Nursery Rhymes CD I designed for the October issue of 'Mother & Baby' magazine. It's always nice to get the printed version and this one looks great. It is in the shops now or you can take a look over in my portfolio.

p.s. The holiday was great. A very refreshing break. There were so many highlights. Ljubljana is well worth a city break. A small, beautiful and energetic city with lots to see and do.

2 board games and a CD I have recently been working on.

I am oh so tired . . . I just finished an exhausting run of summer jobs which are all due to be printed and published in the coming month. It has been a long haul and I am really looking forward to a holiday now. Off to Slovenia on Wednesday :D When I get back I hope to have a bit more time for my own projects and some sketching amongst the commissions and dutch lessons. Hope to be posting here more regularly from October. So watch this space. As you may have noticed Sexton Blake work has ceased sadly but maybe reviving something there too. Lots of ideas for the autumn . . . for now some rest.

It was a very short trip but the mountains were amazing and despite two days of exhausting walking. I feel somewhat refreshed. I have a few more weeks of commissioned work to get done and then hopefully I'll have some time to play with some of my own projects.

So busy at the moment. Above are few of the things I am working on that I haven't posted. Some I'll be able to show more of later.

Its's great to have all this work but I'm hoping August will be a bit quieter. I have a few projects of my own I'd like to find time for. Also it'd be nice to see a bit more of the sun and my girlfriend and a bit less of the screen. I have A short break to the Swiss mountains at the end of next week though. Looking forward to that. Hopefully I'll get to do some sketching

A double page spread I did for the July issue of 'Mother and Baby' magazine. The images were used quite a bit bigger than I expected but I'm really pleased with these pages.

Football and Babies??!

Well so far May has been a great month for my freelance career taking a leap forward. So far I have done a 3 page magazine spread and picked up 3 maybe 4 other nice jobs. One of those is my first board game commission! Also my website was featured over on Behance to promote Prosite. Subsequently it has had over 500 hits in less than 2 days and brought in one job :) Hope the good wind keeps blowing

I designed this album for the splendid band 'The Shirt Tail Stompers'. Came out nice I think. They are selling copies at gigs now. It sounds great. They are on top form. I really enjoyed working on this.
