It was only our last blog where we introduced Layla Grayce as one of our favorite sites for childrens and womens products. Now we hear from the company that they are up for a Cribsie award.

Valentine or Valentines?

We pride ourselves on being sticklers for grammar, and one of the most common mistakes we see each February surrounds the phrase "Valentine's cards." So in case you're wondering, we're here to let you know once and for all whether "Valentine cards," "Valentines Day cards" or any number of alternative spellings are most accurate.
Although we commonly see "Valentine card" or "Valentines Day card," in fact neither of these spellings is correct. Valentine's Day is a possessive phrase shortened from Saint Valentine's Day, and therefore any phrase used to describe something related to Valentine's Day should reflect a similar structure. As a result, instead of "Valentines Day cards" or "Valentine cards," the proper spelling is "Valentine's Day cards. We're only willing to let the rule slide in the case of children handing out "valentines" to their friends and classmates.
We hope that helps clear things up. Here's to a fun February filled with plenty of Valentine's Day cards (with nary a "Valentine card" or "Valentines Day card" in sight!).

Here at papershouts.com we always like to hear the stories from other start ups as to how they formed their business or how a product was conceived. We've been fans of the Nuddle blanket for a long time so we decided to look into the company and see how they became so successful. The story is a great one for all you entrepreneurs out there.
It all started when the founder was about to get married, and she got, well, cold feet. Not those kind of “cold feet,”but literally cold feet to the point that her husband to be promised that in his vows he’d always keep her feet warm and covered. After all, she was a New York City girl who had just moved to L.A. to be with her fiancé and to now live in 90 degree weather. But living with him meant the air conditioning was always on … and she was always cold!
It was their first apartment together, and night after night she would lay on the couch reading wedding magazines. The further she pulled the blanket upto cover her neck and shoulders, the further her cold feet would continue to pop out from the bottom of the blanket. “One day we should make you a blanket with a pocket to keep your feet warm, and openings so your hands can come out and hold your magazine,” her husband stated. And that’s how The Nuddle was born, and how they began their start to create the perfect blanket – one that they could use to nap or cuddle on the couch, with the freedom to still do what they loved to do most, watch t.v. and read a magazine at the same time, all while keeping warm and cozy.
