I have just finished a post in Cagayan de Oro and I must say that I should be doing more of it and less of the other things that keep me busy. Well, I have this life and it is a truly wonderful one. Let me explain, I have lived without a real thought about the value of life and I thought, what a waste to have lived and breathed without making a dent in the fabric of reality. The reality of the thing is that I live in Cagayan de Oro City and not New York city. Does that make a difference at all in the quality of my life or the thoughts that run around my brain?

Well, I am a bit jaded or maybe I should say naive in thinking that I know a lot of what I am talking about but I do know that living here in Cagayan de Oro or somewhere else would not make too much of a difference at all since I would still be with myself anywhere I find myself. It would make little or no difference since I would still be thinking the same thoughts and being in Cagayan de Oro City or anywhere else would not make me think better thoughts.

New Scene

This is the scene that meets Papoy's eyes everyday. It is fresh and full of goodness. What is not so obvious are Lakatan bananas growing among the weeds. In a couple of weeks the weeds will become history when the workers are done with them.

The weeds are really a welcome part of the farm and they will eventually be returned to the soil to be food to earthworms and other organisms that make the earth healthy and full of life.

It has been a while since I wrote something here but that is going to change because I have regained my desire to push and promote my sites and to keep them fresh and updated for whoever comes their way. When I last checked, I had found this site nowhere where I wanted it to be, on the top of the serps. I had somehow gotten used to the idea that it would always be on top but there it was, nowhere.

Now, it's back where it belongs. It is a small niche but it means a lot to see my seo effort making some kind of progress. Of course, this is just exercises that I am doing and nothing is really happening with them as far as the serious stuff is concerned.

Anyway, here's Cagayan de Oro City with another one: Cagayan de Oro City. My Cebu City site has made pr1, surprise, surprise. Dumaguete is still in the boondocks as far as Google goes but Dumaguete has made some headway. Check out: Jai Alexander.

Papoy Again

Papoy gets what he wants now. He is not as challenged as before. This is something good for him and for the universe as well. His dreams are gradually being realized and being concrete now, they are less malleable than when they were dreams. Papoy is feeling good about a lot of things and he has a lot to be thankful for. Papoy knows that life is not easy. He has had it harder than most and he knows it. These are times when Papoy feels that he could do the things the had been dreaming of doing. It is not too late for Papoy. It is not too late for anyone and it certainly is not late for Papoy.

He has poetry, Papoy has but he has not written anything for a very long time. Papoy feels that his poetry is his life, his music is his life. His life has been difficult, discordant, dissonant and he does not complain. Such is his life and Papoy knows it. He enjoys the discord and the dissonance as something quite sweet even in the midst of it. There is balance and equilibrium being maintained by his pain and lack of peace. He is content in that thought and continues to live his poetry and his music in his life.

What's This about Cagayan de Oro?

What's the deal with Cagayan de Oro City? I really don't get it at all. Sometimes it shows up sometimes it's nowhere to be found. I have tried many things and I still don't get it. Cagayan de Oro City is fine but it just doesn't show. This also goes for Papoy which used to show up before. Now it is just swamped by other pages. It was good before when Papoy showed up in the pages but I neglected it so I guess it's my fault.

Whatever the reason, there is always something to read at Papoy and if you read between the lines there is a lot going on. Still, Papoy is very much a part of Ching's World and this is where it's at for me: Ching's World. It is good and shows a lot of promise. Ching's World could be something good if it ever got off the ground.

Papoy in Cagayan de Oro City

For a long time Papoy had been feeling weak and sickly. He wondered if he was about to die. Still, he reasoned, if God wanted to take Papoy and recycle him, now would be a good time. He was feeling really weak and faint.

"Now, I know how it feels to be old and useless", Papoy thought and he had no complaints. However, it is not in Papoy's nature to just lay down and die. He had done that so many times before and it never worked. It only served to make his life more miserable. Papoy knew that technique never worked so he had discarded that a long time ago.

As luck would have it, he was able to go to Cagayan de Oro and visit the old places that have changed so much now. He hardly knew anybody there and he could not picture the old places he used to go. Everything has changed for Papoy.

Papoy hoped that Ching's World would somehow take off and he had some ideas about how to do it. Everything is in his mind and they exist there as alive as you and me. Ching's World exists in Papoy's mind and that is fine with him.

What is defeat? What is victory?

Does one defeat oneself? What does one do when feelings of malaise and helplessness envelops one like a blanket stifling creativity and expansiveness? It is a feeling that makes one feel that death might bring more excitement. Someone said that death is not a good option for there is no future in it. What good is life is all one has is a parade of days each like the other? When one is shunted aside to be as a piece of twig, too small to be food for the fire and serve some purpose as giving warmth on a cold night.

Does one wait for entropy to claim him? Like a caterpillar rendered helpless by the sting of a wasp which completely immobilizes it but keeping it alive nevertheles to be devoured by the wasp's hungry larvae. Life is rational if anything. There is a reason for living even if it is to be food for something else. There is no judgement, no protestations, no eulogy. There is only order and sequence that leads to the evolution of consciousness. Pain lives.

Does the wasp see the brilliant sunrise? Is the caterpillar moved by a seaside sunset? What of the aching soul that sees beyond imagination?

What Could Be Known?

There is an over-riding need to know things, something, to make sense of what life is all about and it often comes at all hours of the day, not only when the chips are down but even when one is having fun or enjoying the bounty that life bestows. Well, not as much when one is partying perhaps. But when one is down and possibly close to being counted out, one thinks of the meaning of one's life or at least why one is so miserable.

The curiousity of a young child, the craving to know this and that, to know why this is so and that is what, is innate in all beings that have a sense of self. All animate beings have this curiousity and maybe even plants might have this also. Who is to know know thus? Maybe some scientist in the future will demonstrate that plants have a need to know also. That would not be surprising considering that curiousity and the need to learn and know is intricately wired in anything that has life.

The one good thing about the Internet is that one is able to ponder these questions and not have to worry if they are answered or not. One can just ask questions and direct it to no one in particular. Maybe a wandering soul sees the questions and posts his answer or may be just wants backlinks and posts his piece to your thoughts not to answer it but to serve his own purpose, an exercise in the arcane science of search engine optimization.

It is certain that one thought in one's mind is not at all unique in the animal kingdom. There are some very basic thoughts that press on people and insects alike like, thought of food. That is basic and even the lowly insect invests much of its activity in that. The loftiest mind must listen to the rumblings of his stomach and put on hold his high-minded intellectual meanderings while his basic organs are demanding attention.

The Myth of Sisyphus

Rolling a big boulder up a hill, Sisyphus succeeds after an arduous effort to reach the summit, and even before he could pause to catch his breath, he watches the boulder slowly slip away and fall back down from where he had started. And he begins his tortuous task once more. Condemned by the gods to repeat this never-ending punishment, he toils forever without respite, without let-up, without hope of ever seeing a glimpse of the end of his travails.

Papoy feels the same way as he watches each day that comes with a promise of change, and as he works hard to transform that promise into hard reality, he never dreams nor anticipates what disappointment and failure awaits him, and as he reaches what he deems to be the summit and the end of his journey, he sees it all crumble and fall away. It is very inviting to just give up and give in to the relentless forces that drives him hard against the tempest that is his life as he watches his puny attempts against such powers fail at every turn.

When will it all end, he wonders and rises up from every fall. Lucky for me, he thinks, I am stupid and cannot understand defeat. He gets up and cooks up another scheme to get his life going once more. He does not understand defeat and each loss is a sweet reminder of that final victory when he shall celebrate all his moments as his reward for being.

Tthe essence of life is struggle

It is very easy to cry out in pain and to feel that this is all there is in life. It is very easy to just lay down and give up when adversity strikes. When adversity strikes again and again such that it feels like there is nothing in life except frustration and failure, it is very easy to be swayed by the thought of giving up the fight. Had the Buddha done that, had he simply risen and walked away and leave his quest for enlightenment for another day then the world would have been a different one today. He persevered and he said, "Let my body rot, let my flesh fall away from my bones. I will not move from this position until i have attained enlightenment."

So great was his resolve that he stayed in the meditative pose for forty-nine days and coming out from that trance he emerged having attained Nirvana. Our life and our struggles are not as sublime as that undergone by the Buddha and we certainly pale in comparison to his strength of resolve. Life is a constant struggle and we easily give up the fight when the odds are not in our favor. No wonder that greatness is not achieved by many of us. We are as small ants in the single file of life. One blow and we give up. Papoy is no exception. He nothing but a weak mortal which is living his life from day to day.

Papoy dreams and his dreams are great. His body is weak and his bones are not as strong as they used to be but his mind still soars with thoughts of achieving great things. He knows that he will eventually die and that thought does not scare him. All the heroic thoughts of his youth have gone and they are nothing more than memories which are not so clear anymore. He dreams and he feels a longing for the Great. The universe is his home and he is comfortable with it. He does not regret the lost hopes and dreams. He does not begrudge the universe for what he has. He is quite happy.

His soul is thrashed

His hopes are dashed, his mind is clawed and scratched; his dignity stung and bitten by a thousand insults; he wants to flee but has nowhere to go. He is at the end of his rope and still he breathes, he aches, his pain keeps reminding him that he has sins to pay for. He knows it and he knows it may not end soon.

He has nowhere to go. He has no money. He calls up his brother knowing full well that he faces a 99% chance of rejection and after rwo sentences he gets his answer, the inevitable one, the one that always rings loudly in his ears: NO!!! He smacks himself angrily, "Why do I do that? Why don't I learn? He never helps me and still I crawl back to him asking for his rejection."

He never learns. He knows that rejection is the twin brother of begging and still he does it. He begs. He asks for a little bit of kindness, a bit of softness to assuage a bruised spirit. He doesn't get it and he probably never will. Not in this lifetime, at least. This is his cross, his burden that he just cannot shake. He knows it but he keeps a foolish hope that things will somehow magically change. Not in this lifetime and probably not in the next.

He is tormented by two dragons. They are his nemesis. He wonders when it will all end. The pain is making him dull and stupid and crazy. He wishes there was something he could do. But there isn't. He is stuck. He is mired in the muck. Be is bogged down and there is no escaping his life. He must suffer until the end. Maybe the end will be kinder to him.

A throbbing pain in his neck

He feels a throbbing pain in his neck.This came from having a shouting match where he raised his voice more than is necessary. So much shouting and not enough listening. He wonders where the times have gone when his children would look at him with respect; or, was it merely frustration? It is hard to determine now. That there is a lot of acrimony and unresolved issues speaks of his failure as a father. He fears that his life has really taken a turn for the worse. This has never happened before although he had a hint of it once a few years ago when his two older sons exchanged words. He tried to intervene then and nothing much came out of his intervention. They did calm down after a while but was it due to his intervention? He thinks that he was not a factor then and he is certain that his influence has totally waned.

He wonders if this is the way that all fathers go when they grow weak and lose their ability to impose discipline. Is it strict discipline that is responsible for rebellious behavious? He is sure that he was never a strict disciplinarian. In fact, one could say he was the exact opposite of that term. He was laid back and easy going, preferring discussion and lectures to corporal punishment. He beilieved that corporal punishment is the lazy man's way of shutting down opposition. Now, he is not sure about anythng at all. He feels that he might have failed as a father. Surely, his lack of income is one cause of his decline as an authority figure. Who would listen to anyone who did not have any money to give? Who would come to him if he had nothing to give?

This is his life and he endures it without whining and rancor. He accepts it for what it is. There is nothing more to it and it is not really such a big deal. He wants to be clear to himself that he is aware of everything that is happening and he blames no one for his predicament. He takes it rather philosophically. He had lost the respect of his siblings years before and how he is seeing the gradual erosion of his children's respect for him. Should he be sad? Is this the way of all flesh?

He thinks that he is still lucky to have had sons. They have to live their lives and that is something that he could never do for them He has tried to teach them the lessons that he has learned in his life and it seems that it is the hardest thing to do. History repeats itself. He can feel and he can see his sons making the same mistakes that he made when he was younger, just like they are now. C'est la vie. That is the way the dice roll. He is still thankful for the time he has now. He has no more cause to regret anything. He has lived a difficult life and that is good enough for him, He doesn't really care to have a good life, a better life, a wonderful life. They are all the same to him.

He does not go out of the house

He rarely goes out of the house, he doesn't even go out to the garden anymore. Before, he would love to tend to his herbs and wild plants that were thought to have medicinal value. He doesn't care to water the plants anymore. His main preoccupation nowadays is the Internet. He surfs the net from the time he wakes up till he feels so sleepy and so tired. Before he shelved it in favor of the Internet, computer programming used to occupy most of his time. His wife would berate him for spending too much time in front of his computer but, he thinks he can win the Lotto so he pores, and he peeks at the numbers, trying to catch a glimpse of a pattern emerging. He thinks trying to predict the Lotto numbers will help him in honing his programming skills so, it's not totally a wast of time. At night he goes out and bets one ticket.

He feels a little excitement everyday from his Internet activity. It does challenge his mind even though it tires him out and his body aches from not having any physical exertion. He says that the Internet surprises him every day and that he learns a little something each time he surfs the net. What he finds great about the World Wide Web is that it can be a huge library full of books and he just loves books. Libraries were his favorite buildings when he was younger. He knew where books could be found and he found many a gem of a book.

A doddering old fool

He is getting old now and his wife thinks he is a doddering old fool. He is not as important as he used to be when he was the breadwinner of the family but his children still feels that he is a nice presence to be around although they do not go about saying it. He has always been there when they came home from school, when the lights go out and bogey men and all kinds of scary creatures come to play tricks on their minds, or when it is raining hard and the skies seem unruly and upset and goes about throwing lightning with thunderous roars that sounded like drunken giants were carousing in the skies.

He has always been easy-going and seldom raised his voice. He liked to talk to them when there was a lesson that needed to be learned. He never berated or called them stupid or hit them with a belt. His way was to open their minds and to show them how mistakes always happen and that the best thing was to learn from those mistakes. Covering up and lying about mistakes was worse than the original offense and he always told them that he loved them and would always take their side in any situation. All they needed to do was to try and learn. To rise after every fall and not to think too much about it

He is getting old now and sometimes he finds it hard to keep his balance. This comes from being cooped up and not being able to do the things that he wants to do. I gues you could call him one of the useless people who earns nothing, a kind of a burden to his family.
