By a 4-1 majority vote, the Paradise Town Council moved to monthly meetings at 6 p.m. The council will still meet Tuesday July 28 at 6 p.m. as previously scheduled.
The new ordinance won't take affect until September when the town will go from two meetings a month to one. However the council could decide to cancel its second monthly meeting until then.

Scientists back away from 'global warming'

Anyone watching the growing environmental fear mongering on "global warming" knows the so-called "mainstream press" is losing its grip. The scientific community, at one time was thought to be " overwhelmingly convinced the earth is warming."

Now it's backing away. It seems the so-called growing group of scientists in the environmental movement that the media claimed was unified in the belief the Earth is warming, does not exist.

Jordan Fire burns 35 acres

Firefighters extinguished a 35 acre fire Tuesday afternoon on Jordan Hill Road at Serpentine Point on the east side of the West Branch of the Feather River that separates Concow and Paradise. The main fire, dubbed the Jordan Fire, was estimated to have burned 23 acres.

Firefighters expected full containment this afternoon of four fires totaling about 35 acres on Jordan Hill Road at Serpentine Point on the east side of the West Branch of the Feather River that separates Concow and Paradise.

Haileigh returns home today

Haileigh Cuevas, the six-year-old Paradise girl hit by a car while riding her bike last month is being discharged from UC Davis Medical Center today. Her mother, Kelly Cuevas, said Haileigh is excited to be coming home, but her recovery will be an ongoing process.

Car accident leaves young Magalia boy hurt

An 11-year-old child was injured in a roll-over traffic collision when his father lost control of his car on Clark Road Monday morning just north of Circle J Road when the Magalia family was driving to Oroville.

U.S. Attorney Gen-eral, Eric Holder, recently stated new hate crimes laws were needed to bring to an end to "violence masquerading as political activism." He was talking about recent killings in Arkansas, Kansas, and Washington, D.C. allegedly perpetrated by those who "hated" some group or individual.

Paradise runs away with District 47 championship

Aggression was the key in Tuesday's District 47 championship softball game after the Paradise junior division all-star team stole 22 bases - including home plate twice - leading to a 10-2 victory over Palermo at Chico Eastside Little League Field.

Four centuries ago, there was a guy in England named John Stubbs who signed a petition against the queen. His punishment for his insolence was to have his hands chopped off. I always found it more than a little ironic that the man's name foretold his fate.
