We are just so in love with the absolute elegance and style of this Bride. Cari from CARI Photography did an excellent job capturing the beauty of this wedding.

Minke wanted a elegant farm style wedding and really wanted to incorporate succulents and proteas in her reception flowers. We added soft garden roses which made for a more sophisticated feel. Bunches of mystical gipsofila was tied to the ceremony chairs and complemented the white bunting beautifully.

This is one of our last wedding we worked on for 2011. The brief for this beautiful fresh wedding as a botanical inspired vintage theme. We used classic Rulips, Roses, Lisianthus, Hydrangeas, Irish bells, Yarrow and potted Maidenhair ferns. These blooms was combined with authentic antique& laboratory bottles, class domes and milk glass vases.

Wedding: Lize & Pieter {Italian Feast}

We had loads of fun with this wedding. Lize was truly a blushing bride and her excitement and enthusiasm was so contagious.

The couple fell in love with Italy after a holiday there and decided to make this country the theme of their wedding. Lize and Pieter wanted their wedding to be a Italian feast and it ended up being exactly that.

Pieter wanted to have some South African element and so we made sure the ceremony had a stronger South African feel (see detail like the wooden Springbok broaches) and that we used a lot of fynbos for the rest of the festivities.

Lize didn't really want loads of flowers so for the decor we focused on other elements like artichokes, olive branches, interesting greenery and herbs. I really love the collage of their Italian trip that inspired the wedding theme and think this is such a wonderful personal touch.

Christmas Workshop 12 Nov 2011

Our first Christmas Workshop for 2011 was sold out within a day. With 15 eager ladies, we had an amazing morning of sharing laughter and creativity. We even had a visitor from the UK and we all felt like old friends by the end of the day.

When these King Protea flowers are in season in SA, I just love working with them. Here the protea plays the role of the star on top of our "Christmas Tree". Using a cylinder glass container filled with beads as the base and a dodder cone as the tree itself. Decorated with ribbon, a doily and a hand-made star the only flower we had to add was the beautiful King Protea.

Why not do yellow for Christmas seen that it is one of the favorite colors the last season or two. Here in sunny SA the combination of yellow and crisp greens can be a natural symbol of the traditional gold Christmas.

Our Christmas Wreath was far from the traditional greens. We used shades of grey Pennygum, Artichoke flowers and the old favorite Rock Roses.

For your Beach House this Christmas. A rustic wooden box filled with last years collection of shells, all your vintage ceramics and a few Avante Garde roses to complete the picture.

Your front door doesn't always need the round Wreath. Step by Step instructions for this Wreath will follow soon.

We took a break to smell the roses...

Using only 5 roses, a cylinder candle some dodder and a green Aspidistra leave this is a quick and easy flower gift for a friend.

Elsbeth's brief was short & sweet, Vintage & Romantic. Each table setting had a unique hand-picked antique dinner plate, which gave me the chance to use my collection of white vintage urns and vases. What a pity the Peonies arrived here all rotten from Holland. But luckily Mother Nature never let you down. With lots of old fashioned Roses, Blushing Brides, Freesias and Orchids and many more, we were still able to create her Vintage "Wedding".

My friend and reader Jen, sent me over a link to check out an artist named Amy Stevens. I was drawn to these abstract cakes and enticing colors! She reminds me a lot of Amy Sedaris, which is funny because they share the same first name, ha! When Amy turned 30 she wanted to bake 30 birthday cakes for herself. She order supplies from Martha Stewart and watched videos to learn how to create her own birthday cake. Once she found out they would never look like Martha's, she created the ones below! Not only is she the baker, decorator and artist behind these cakes, but she's also the photographer! These cakes are proof that not everything in life needs to be perfect... We had a fantastic time at Kamersvol Geskenke giving a flower demonstration and workshop. Thank you for everyone that joined us. The flower creations made at the workshop was stunning!!!!
