Escape The Fate will release a deluxe edition of their much loved album, This War Is Ours, on April 27 via Epitaph Records. Fans will get a two disc collection including the standard album with two new unreleased tracks, “Bad Blood” and “Behind The Mask,” an acoustic version of “Harder Than You Know” and an unreleased remix, “This War Is Mine,” by Clown of Slipknot, as well as a DVD containing a new music video for “This War Is Ours (Guillotine Part II),” fan favorite videos for “Something,” “10 Miles Wide” and “The Flood,” a world tour documentary and a behind the music feature. The deluxe edition of This War Is Ours should keep you busy while the band works out their follow-up which is due out in the fall.

This one is appropriately named as Seasick Steve is hell-bent on avoiding the digital reality. Probably not the worst plan one could have, but me, I’m too far gone. Have a listen to “Diddly Bo.”

Radar Bros. The Illustrated Garden

There’s an ease and conventionality of song and resulting mood on The Illustrated Garden, the upcoming album from Radar Bros., out March 23rd via Merge Records. Jim Putnam put together a new band for the record, adding Be Hussey (bass) and Steve Treichel (drums), while leaving the sound intact on a work that may be his best yet. As the record plays it occurs to me that this is some of the more compelling mid-tempo tuneage I’ve heard in a while. Don’t let your mind run wild, listen to “Horses Warriors,” from the new record.

Philadelphia Grand Jury make new single, stage final Australian shows, and move to the UK

Australian group Philadelphia Grand Jury’s new single ‘I Don’t Want To Party (Party),’ a live favourite, will be released via iTunes on March 22nd. The single is joined by three exclusive tracks, including a disco remix of album track ‘Wet Winter Holiday’ by Mike FWD, a solo track by lead singer and producer Berkfinger called ‘Jimmy At The Whorehouse’ which is the first cut off a self-produced solo concept album due out later in the year, and a hip-hop funk jam called ‘Both Kinds Of Music’ written, sung and produced by the band’s new drummer Calvin. Calvin (yes just Calvin) is a 56 year-old African American drummer who has lended his sticks to US disco, Earth Wind and Fire, and bebop legend Sonny Stitt.

To celebrate the single Philadelphia Grand Jury will be touring throughout April with special guests The John Steel Singers for what will be their final Australian shows for the foreseeable future. The band will then re-locate to the UK where they have a deal with London based Beggar’s label ‘Too Pure’ and a series of club shows leading into the Northern Summer.

They grew up in the same Essex village – Stanford Le Hope, though their paths barely crossed before they spent a Christmas season working at the Lakeside branch of HMV. After a brief creative courtship sharing Myspace links and remixes, their very first collaboration – “Thou Shalt Always Kill,” was sent to XFM’s John Kennedy in demo form and within 24 hours Kennedy had played the track on his show. Titus Andronicus unveil The Monitor today

I was just saying the other day that I didn’t know what had gotten into Titus Andronicus on their new album, The Monitor, but I like it. With that being said, there are some line-up changes in addition to the record featuring members of The Hold Steady, Wye Oak, Vivian Girls, and Ponytail. Just to throw in another band, The Monitor inspires me to want to drink like I’m at a Drive By Truckers’ show. The subjects here are concerned with humiliation, urination, emasculation, dealing with meaninglessness where there used to be meaning, and essentially just fucking up and always coming up short, but still swearing never surrender. The dynamic shifts are also well indeed – slipping in smoked out dreamy sectionals as well as raging drunk stomps and harmonies. With that in mind, by the time the piano rolls in on “A Pot in Which To Piss,” there should be no doubt that Titus Andronicus have made something good. This is my favorite album so far this year. It makes me want to bitch and scream about whats really wrong with the world. Oh yeah, there’s a Civil War theme in there too, but you can check that one out yourself.
