Hii there!!! Thanks for reading friends.
I am still not that better from the muscular pain. Its coming back every now and then. So avoiding any hush hush movements. Therefore late posts. BIG SORRY :(
Weather is getting really cold up here. Trying all my layering techniques to get some warmth. And this blog came up as a result of the same experiment. Its perfect outfit with layers in this very chilli weather without any show.

The complete look. Long skirt, sweater, dupatta, braided hair, colourful and light weight accessories and chunky boots.

I love my Sarong/ Dupatta. Trying to store all the sunshine in it.

Sarong is a multi purpose piece of clothing. It makes up for a good Dupatta here. Duppatta is a quintessential part of Indian outfits. It oozes grace and mystery. Its usually worn to cover upper half body and spreads over head. In many a places its also helps as a traditional veil. I have always had a fascination for a dupatta. I still do and get to wear it as much as I want.

Love utilizing these Indian accessories. They always look pretty and opulent. I better have a complementing outfit to match their richness. This is the ideal attire to carry these jewels.

A chunky braid style very well suits this look as you can see. I am happy to have some sun.

This skirt has so much fabric that you can wear a velvet jegging underneath for warmth and still look fine.

Hi friends, welcome to pareeland. Hope everyone is doing great post holidays and new year celebrations. Its time to get back to your routine(yukkkk…huhhhhh….uggggh). You like it or you hate it but you still cant live without it. So lets not grumble and shoot. Instead, lets make now more enjoyable and exciting. My trick is drowning in fashion. Fashion takes aways all my pressures and disappointments to a great extent. It surprises me in my gloomy days and inspires me to keep looking for better days to come. I express my dreams, my skills and my inspirations through fashion. And this blog gives me an opportunity to realise all of them here. This platform with like minded people keeps me hooked on to my creativity. So thanks to Blogger and all the Bloggers for keeping me going and encouraging me to unfold a new look right from my wardrobe. Here comes one of my favourite looks which is mesmerising with a storybook appeal yet wearable and affordable. Its inspired from Indian nomads. Ever since I was a child, Banjarans ( banjara women) took me by surprise with their colourful attires. Their skirts are made up of lengthiest yards of cotton in the brightest and the most beautiful colours. Their cholis (blouses) are the most alluring tops I have ever seen. Their jewellery is enormous and distinctive. Their hair, thick and heavily adorned. I can probably talk about their fashion and styling sense ceaselessly for hours together. I simply gush over their looks and the way they carry so much with such an ease. I have tried to tone down any heaviness in my version of them. Just because I live in a world where wearing so much will make me immobile. Hats off to Banjarans and their unconventional style of fashion. This is my first outfit idea and will come back with more.

Hey all!! Thanks for reading. Happy Makar Sankranti to all my friends. It's a festival of kites and family get together. As a child, I would wait for this day for the tasty Roat (sweet paratha made with jaggery) and Khichdi (rice and dal pudding). My brother would spend the whole day on terrace flying kites and competing with his friends. When I grew up I realised that all these festivals are best enjoyed when you are a child. You are infinite miles away from the demands of life, career and yourself. All you need is, all that you want :) which is not so possible once you start to understand the rules and regulations of life and society. Which obviously has its advantages as well? But there is this amazing feeling in childhood which is irreplaceable and highly coveted in the adulthood. And that is, a carefree heart, the feeling of enjoyment after having a good festive meal and enjoying today as if it's the best day of my life. Even now a mere thought of that life miraculously transforms my chilli winter day into sunny and colourful spring :)
I wanted to relax and take it easy on this Makar Sankranti. Luckily it's a beautiful and warm day so far. So an easy outfit treat got on my mind. Its simple and cute, like one of those days in childhood. Take a stroll in this easy style.

I continuously make attempts to tie my scarf in different ways and this is one of them. Like a bow… I specially do a bow in this scarf because the tassels make it look prettier.

And this cashmere sweater is so SOFT. My husband got rid of it last winter as he grew in size and this couldn't follow up with him. So.. I got into the picture and grabbed it. Woolens are the longest-lasting item in your wardrobe if you know how to care for them. Don't over wash them. Don't over dry them. Don't hang them. And don't treat them like everyday laundry. Even though its light weight and thinner in texture, it keeps me cosy and warm in winter days.

I love everything about this bag. Its colour, zip detailing, inside fabric and the comfort of wearing it.

A braid is your style saviour in flat hair days. Laid-back with a feel of innocence.

These flats are soooo pretty that you cannot pass them anytime. I saw them in summer clearance sale and bought in two colours :) Wish!! I had bought them in all the colours :D… The floret and straps are in soft suede. Which is a treat to the feet.

This look reminds me of the days when I first started wearing makeup (or whatever you call it…loll) I was in love with thick, black eyeliner. I would feel exceptionally attractive and put-together in just one swipe of black liquid. I still do :D….Eyeliner is my most favourite part of makeup and cobalt blue is my to-die-for colour :DDD

It was a very nice stroll around the town with the comfiest clothes and accessories. I was lost in my childhood days of dreamy eyes and fragrant breeze. I hope you all had a good time reading it as well.

Hello everyone. Thanks for reading today. As I mentioned before I was not well so lagged behind in updates on New Year's style file. I had a very bad muscle spasm which lasted a few weeks. I could hardly move. Which, I did not have in my wish-list though…lollll.

This was next day after Christmas. I was in terrible pain. My face says it all. I was ready to do some window shopping and fashion survey, But all I could do was stand up, pose and sit back in the chair. I could not make it to shopping that day.

So much better after a few days into 2012. Finally went shopping in this beautiful and humongous shopping mall. Unfortunately I couldn't find a good leather jacket (Biggest on my wish-list this year)

I love this coat. It lights up my mood. I did this embroidery to make it look extra special. Chain stitch in cotton threads. Which co-ordinated very well with my hand knitted woolen hat, my husband bought me from a street fair (Steppin Up) in Blacksburg.

Blue is my favourite colour. It's a jersey dress that I am wearing underneath the coat. Frilled hem is the most attractive part of the dress and remains so under the coat. Thats why I chose to wear this dress.

A Very Happy New Year to All

Dear all…
Wish you a very Happy New Year…Thanks for reading today. Its been way too long since I last posted a blog. Big reasons and bigger aftershocks :( I am still not done with them all but surely recovering. Well, weather is acting crazy here so I had to really struggle for each pic, you might see some unevenness in them as a result. Still I had my styling ideas very clear and now ready to share with you all once again.
I bought this slim cargo-pants a few months ago from GAP. They were on sale (I am a sale-fan) which tempted me to try them on.....And Boy!!!!! they fit really good. I was not too drawn to cargos in slim shape...but they really looked fabulous on me :) Since then I had been scratching to style them in a new way. Not the typical sporty, carefree cargo look, something fresh and surprising for that. Take a look.

My aim was to present cargo's classy transformation. I guess I have been successful :D Use a belt to help make a casual pant dressy.

A silk blouse with ruffle sleeve and sequin tank takes away from sporty feel and replaces with effortful stylishness. Leather gloves add an extra punch to the whole style.

With these slim cargos I have noticed one thing that if you let the ankle zip open it looks very casual and zipping up makes this trouser sleek and more put-together. Something you will wear to a play or a meet with your fashion client(I did that!!!!!!!!)

Suede platform sandals are good in winter, as they feel warm against the skin. Heels definitely give any plain outfit an edgier look. So I preferred heels to flats here.

Metal looks sturdy and crystal stone gives it softness that I needed to pull off this look :)

If I could then I would only carry a wrist wallet all winter. So much comfortable and least hassle.

It's a very old necklace which I bought when I was working in India. Its dressy in design and subdued in its color and sheen. Pale pink glass beads and fuzzy metal structure.

Thanks for reading today. Hope you all are doing great. Its getting harder to shoot with each passing day as the sun is quickly disappearing. I guess its the encouragement and feedback of all the readers thats keeping me up and running. As the winter is getting chillier my motivation towards wearing less and less accessories is getting stronger. And I am bound to find ways for alternatives. Can't live without them. So I tried this very basic yet essential holiday accessory. Earlier in Styling Essentials…. I have included it, so let me elaborate a little more in this post. Its the classic Brooch. And I always have it with me, why??? See for yourself

Its very popular in my day to day styling,but I use it more around Christmas. Pretty Obvious:)It adds just about right amount of sparkle for the season.

This is another way to adorn with brooch without bothering about cold getting in through your neck

I used my sweater belt in black to wear it as a headband and stuck my brooch for that extra special touch.

Or you can use a wider knit band that covers your ears. so no more cold into your eardrums just warm, cozy style.

This is one of my most favorite winter wear. Oversized knit dress. And guess what??? I don't even pay for any of it. Because this is my husband's everyday sweater which served as a dress for me….:))))) Make it a double treat by adding this magical brooch around waist. It slims you down and gives your body hourglass definition.You can pair them with trouser or skirts, tuck them in or just let loose. They are just perfect. You can wear plenty of layers under them and still look just fine. Its a perfect snatcher for this season.

With or without a belt a Brooch can do wonders to your sweater dress.

In sporty look

Scarf wrap or shawl. Just hold it together with a pretty brooch and it starts oozing sophistication.

Demure Look

Try this wrap look over a sweater or a dress like above.

Its always a pleasure to make something special out of ordinary. This brooch is surely special in itself and this blog gives me a reason to keep thinking creatively about every little item in my closet. I try to come up with ideas for which I or my readers don't necessarily have to go and shop. Its an honest effort and so far am enjoying it. Thank you all for your sweet comments. Hi there!!!…thanks for reading today. Hope you all are fine and finely reading my posts :)
Well I was supposed to have a new hair cut at a very cheap price tomorrow…Supposed to…they cancelled on me….and forced me to reschedule it for next year….very annoying:xxx I was thinking of venturing into New Year with a fresh new hair start…but noooooo….my plans seem to be always unsuccessful….As I said, they booked me for a very cheap price-$5..yeahhh….with their Trainee….lolllll…I might have to sit for several hours to savor this deal(ugggghhhhh)…this is first time ever that I thought of giving this trainee thing a shot….will be able to show you only next year if I really saved some bucks versus a shady haircut….Has any of you ever tried it??? Please let me know,if the results were horrific:( I still have a lot of time to save my head from being shaved(ewwwwwww)

Apart from my hair salon dilemmas I have been doing great. I experimented with one more clothing item from my wardrobe which has been sitting in it with tags attached. Its a Red Maxi dress, which I designed last summer and never got a chance to wear it. Now its winter and just in case I want to follow the classic fashion norms, I will have to wait 6 more months to be able to wear it. And I said…No.. I am going to make it wearable for this season keeping in mind the climate, event and color trends. So I tried and it turned out to be fabulous…Even I was surprised..Check out the pics..

I wanted a leather or a faux leather jacket with metal embellishments. As of now I don't own one so I decided to go with my puffer jacket. To begin with its goose down fill and it gives a sheen similar to leather..:)…its fitted around waist to give an attractive shape. It hits right at the belt.

This heart shaped multi-color stone encrusted brooch must take all the credit for making this whole look fabulous. I did not want to alter the length of maxi, and was trying to somehow adjust without looking like that I am trying. So randomly I pinned this brooch over the gathers to shorten the length. And it looked like an inevitable part of the dress. This look resembles more of the red carpet look with throngs of famous people walking in red dresses…..For me, its a Holiday look. Bright and glam.

Shiny wristlet with stud details is what I wanted for this look. This time I got it.

Suede leather booties with flower detail are very good for this season. As it gives the right amount of coverage with peculiar style. I have worn thigh high socks underneath. I feel more stylish when I am comfortable in my shoes. Otherwise it shows on your face.

Gold hoops and a gold nose ring are perfect accessories with a red outfit.

Tired but content with my input

Holidays are here for a while now. So enjoy as much as you can before getting back to the grill of life. Spend wisely and wisely use your spendings. Georgette Tunic Dress….Second Look….

Hi there!!! Thank you very much for reading today. Hope you all are enjoying this holiday season. Its so beautiful everywhere. The christmas decorations are always heart warming. You see them every year like never before. I like to visit malls specially during this time of the year, as more and more people come out to shop and enjoy. There is a sense of excitement and happiness in everybody. Even though I am not buying heavily I still like to look around the shops and check out interesting things. I am also a bit more cautious since you tend to overspend in holiday spirit. So I always make a checklist of things I really want and if they are on sale. So this was the daily dose of dos and donts. Now lets get to the fun part of pairing. In the previous blog I paired my extra-long georgette tunic dress with a red slip and wool coat. That was a cute and easy look. This blog shows a rather edgy side to it. Something I wish I could always wear. A bit unusual and eye catching yet nice.

I have paired my georgette tunic with ballon shorts in black. And I layered the tunic with my sequin olive tank top followed by cropped green sweater to make this look practical for cold. This sweater has a wide neck or a boat neck as I call it.

So you can have a glimpse of the sequin top and the tunic. This layering is meant to be seen both from the neckline and from the hem. I also love the sheerness of the georgette tunic, seen in sleeves. Which is very interesting from the prospect of styling. Its not heavy so looks attractive. I enjoyed trying this look. I get so much uncomfortable in winters with the weight of all the layering and heavy woolens, but in this layering I feel like I am as light as a bird and yet warm. I love these nude stocking as they are textured. It is absolutely complementing the whole edgy look. And appropriate for winters. They made me feel warm as they cling to the legs. This look is a must have for clubbing and dinner dates. Its a change from your sweet and beautiful, everyday look. Its energetic, fearless and upbeat. I chose to wear green accessories with just a touch of gold because I don't want the same run-of-the-mill all golds and silvers for club hopping.

I tried very hard to keep this up do in place, alas!! couldn't fight the strong wind…I very much like this hairstyle particularly with ballon knickers. Its short but not boyish, big volume but not too much hair on your neck and shoulders. Just braid all your hair to one side and twist into a bun. Bobby pin it and you are done.

This hair style is also great to emphasize your ear pieces and neck pieces.

This bracelet is made up of three different shades of green stones (in line with sequin tank top) and oxidized metal frame to go with a dark winter feel.

Black suede booties are super stylish with the flower detail and some :)) heel. I wanted my footwear to be a standout and not subtle for this pairing. I tried two pairs of shoes to figure out which one looks better and I went for suede ankle booties. What do you think??

I am sure everyone must be very excited around this time of year…So am I. I guess its the air that surrounds this season. I feel super happy for no reason. I get this craving to be sporty, full of creativity and bling!!!!…..So I am going to share some fun ideas that you will like to experiment with this holiday time. They are inexpensive, accessible and you can do all of them from your home. And save your big bucks for fancy stuff. Like your wish come true!!

Turn your Tradition on:: I am Indian by origin. And am very proud of this fact that I belong to a place thats tremendously rich in traditions/customs/cultures. Holidays usually give me a reason to get back to feeling my roots and the inevitable bonding with it. So the best way to feel at home for me is, choosing my traditional attire and flaunt it….Same goes to all of you out there. Am sure all of you belong to a great culture. So this holiday follow your heart and get traditionally beautiful, It will take your family and friends by a pleasant surprise…Good luck and have fun:)

Its called Saree, traditional Indian dress….I am right in front of a Christmas tree….perfectly complimenting the holiday spirit

Holiday Hair:: Have you ever had any secret fantasy to dramatically transform your hair??? Or to just break out of your normal hair do??? If yess this is the best time to fulfill that desire. Try something that you always wanted but could never dare to because of various reasons like… people…people…or people. But try something temporary, just in case it turns out to be a bit too much of a shock to linger for months. I have somewhat straight hair, and I was always in love with long, flow y curls. Honestly I look not so good in curls, But even that fact hasn't diminished my desires to have curly hair once in a while. So I try this at home curls without any heat or roller. Just clean damp hair and put them into several braids and keep it the whole night…..next morning undo all the braids….Voila!!!!! You have some crazy curls for the party…style them with accessories or leave them open and wild just like that…..It goes off with a wash….and Girls, texture is big this season…so you can hit the street looking like a know-it-all fashionista….

Cosmic Craze:: How about a theme based look for this holiday??? Sounds fun.And super easy. Also it supports the whole holiday spirit. Cosmic world is one thing everyone(specially fashion freaks) gets starry eyed. So lets take a walk with stars:)There are plenty of stick-on crystals that you will find in arts and craft shops.They are very cheap and am expecting all creative heads HAVE them. Since I keep experimenting with my looks, I already had them. Just adorn yourself with them and you will be the new cosmic queen of holidays..

This can be used on your scarf, your belt, a blouse, hat, your coat and probably many more ways. I have three types of brooch. And they all symbolize style and opulence no matter where I pin them. I prefer shiny, stone encrusted brooch, so that they brighten up the whole garment . You can get away with a very plain piece of clothing or accessory just by adding this glam stone.

On a headband, it instantly makes you very charming

Paint the Holiday Red:: Little red dress/ hot red maxi/red leather pants and a pair of luscious red lips. And you are already a hit with holiday season. Red always rules in party circuit. So don't fret what clothing piece you should wear this year, just make sure its Red and has some kind of sheen. Like rayon jersey, silk(off course!!!), leather, lace(ohhhhhhlala)….or even cotton-spandex/lycra.I am myself going to do wonders with my red maxi……keep watching!!!

Georgette Tunic Dress....First Look....

Hiii Friends.
Thanks for reading today. I have brought you yet another exciting styling album. In this post I have styled my georgette tunic for an easy yet beautiful look. Just to inform you that this tunic is actually a blouse, which fits me a little too big, so serves me as a tunic as well. I was not thinking this while buying, its when I tried it on, I realized that its actually big enough to be a comlpete dress in itself. Being short is finally getting me some pleasures:)....I love shopping and what I love more than shopping is DEALS. And this sure was a deal for $15.

Its sheer so I wore a slip undeneath it. I could have worn a black or navy slip to match with tunic's color, but that would have been very predictable and would be lost under tunic.And I would not be thrilled with the outcome.

So I slipped into a red color slip from one of my dresses. Now this tunic has rounded hem so is helps the red slip show through from the rounded sides. Also its not absorbed by the dress, and stands out with bold red color. Which is eye catching. And all of a sudden slip is as much appreciated as the main tunic.

Pink woolen scarf is complimenting the dark background and matching with the slip color to give it more strength in the whole look. And once again my black wool coat comes along to complete today's style quest.

I am playing with dark colors pretty often now, I believe its always the weather that changes your color preferences. I am a bright color girl. I love bright, exuberant palettes and I am no big fan of dark and earthy tones. But as I have mentioned earlier, nature is the ultimate muse for every artist. It transforms your style as and when it needs to. So friends I am loving these color combinations for the time being. Its also helping my styling skills to push beyond my usual likings and venture into unexpected.

Grazia Bloggers Event Meet

Hiiiii friends. Thank you for reading today. Just wanted to let you know that I had an opportunity to attend a bloggers meet in London. This is first time for me. So I was a bit nervous. Grazia Magazine had arranged this event in the heart of the city, Carnaby street at Speakeasy Cafe. It turned out to be great, I met Angela the web-editior for Grazia magazine,she was super sweet and smart. I met other fellow bloggers who also seemed a bit nervous but slowly got comfortable. My computer died on me, on my way to the meet. It was so upsetting that I forgot to carry my camera, so no pics of the event :( Just two pics I took with my mobile(very dim) and I will post the link to the magazine so that you can check out other pics. Somehow I managed to get the pic of my outfit for the night, after returning home. Absolutely tired :}but still gave it a try. Grazia is now inviting its readers to comment on all the bloggers outfit that night so that they can choose the best dressed blogger of the event. I would really appreciate if you guys will go on Grazia's site and vote for me in the comment box. I am very happy that my work got appreciated at some level and there are people out there who would consider me for my skills. Thanks to all those who have been visiting my blog, its because of you people that I became a part of this event :)

This was my look for the Bloggers event. I paired grape color cord jeggings with printed georgette tunic and layered it with olive sequin tank. As I have earlier mentioned I like to play with my scraf, so I made a bow of my scarf around my neck….looked very cool but felt warmer….:))

Since it was usual cold so I grabbed my plaid wool coat. My accessories were minimal once again. Guys winter is one season where you get so bundled up to fight cold that there is not much space to accessorize. And its always better to to have weather appropriate attire and accessories than to look like a duffel bag. Well, I carried my faux fur shoulder bag and adorned my face with metallic earrings.

Since I am kind of inspired by gypsy fashion sense, I tried a fun headpiece here, I made a loose bun and wrapped multi-string necklace around it. And left some part of it hanging loose from my hair.

Yeahhhhh I got all this in my goodies bag. They recorded me as I bragged about my blog Pareeland. This nail paint in cobalt blue is amazing. I only needed one coat and it was as dense as Amazon. Will absolutely recommend it. Clinique Mascara in Black….the brand name says it all…the best.

Changing Skies Outfit 3

Hello Hello Hello….Thank you for reading today. I hope you are having a good day today. For me, I had a good one!!! I was going grocery shopping today and happened to find a beautiful pathway, it was so amazing that I decided to have my shoot there. Sometimes I wonder how wonderful the nature is, it mesmerizes every living being on earth and fills one's heart with so much joy. Thats why I feel so good today. That peace and calm can only be felt and not explained. I am sure everyone will approve with me on this.
So let me show you the third and final pairing for the theme"Changing Skies". Not to mention its inspired by nature :). Same color palette, same theme but different outfit.

I paired a black jersey tunic with pashmina scarf, printed vest and black wool coat. I completed the look with black boots , black tights, metallic hoop earrings and a sleek hairstyle.

This is a very day time look. I like to play with accessories So I wrapped my scarf around my neck to give a halter neckline look. In this weather this wrap keeps you very warm. The printed vest is giving an identity to each piece as all of them are in same color. I had used this vest in my first outfit too :) and also my black coat. It is a winter staple. I keep reusing same outfits for different looks….Thats what Pareeland is all about.

You can do so much with this theme. This outfit is perfect for visiting an art exhibition or a stroll in woods. I would even consider this for a date. As its fresh, young and chic.

3 LOOKS IN WHITE DENIM

Hi people!!!Thanks for reading my blog.

In this blog I have experimented with white jeans in three different moods. Hope you will like. All three looks are completely different from one another in style as well as in event. I always make an effort to put up real-world attires that I myself can carry in and out with much comfort.

The first look gives a vibe of prettiness. White is always associated with softness and elegance and this is what I have tried to achieve here. In a more present time. My pairing is with very basic yet feminine pieces. A bright lime-geen camisole top with lace detailing in cotton-lycra. Light wash denim jacket with pink-stone embroidery on its waist(Which I hand stitched myself when I was in India…..PAREE). White jeans!!!!! preferably ankle length,I folded mine to the desired length(ankle length gives a very chic and high-end look to form fitting jeans). And some ladylike accessories in signature color…pink. For this look strappy sandals or embellished slip-ons work the best, as they compliment the whole theme.Yup thats all and you are ready to hit a farmers market or a stroll in your suburban mall.

Gypsy!!!!!….Yes This is the second look. Its a bit dramatic as accessories are main attraction of this look. But its white jeans that gives an "it" gypsy factor. Am sure a lot of girls out there would love to have a lil too much on some days. Like I did. We went to Mountain Lake to shoot in this outfit. The forest part gave us a perfect backdrop to perform Banjaara shoot. I have uploaded plentiful of picture as could not resist all the creativity. It was such a beautiful day. I felt like a gypsy in my Heart :))))

The look

This time I let the full length of White jeans as it is,which gives a very nomadic look, something thats raw and carefree, like gypsies let go of all the inhibitions. I paired it with an off-white printed baby doll tunic. I feel that off white color gives a worn-out look to any piece of clothing, which is perfect on this theme.

Accessories

I chose to strut in a rather chunky footwear with fabric strap and metal embroidery, which is creative but not prim. Considering gypsies are always moving yet they hold onto a deep sense of aesthetics. Lots of bracelets and a multicolored stone necklace wrapped around wrist as bracelet.

I accessorized this attire with hand made lace-necklace with bells, multilayered

white bead necklace, hoop earrings in gold, flower pieces(which I took out from my vase and fixed them with bobby pins:)).

This is our third transformation with the help of White jeans…Its indeed very versatile.

I even tried that edgy makeup here.

There is a story about this perfectly placed brooch…lollll….I first put it on the back of my jeans pocket,but spilled coffee on here, just before the shoot so used this beautiful brooch to hide the stain. It looks perfect though….

I am not a canvas shoe fan….But, one look at this beautiful print and I wanted them. I have one more pair of laces in white…guess pink goes with the look…LOUD. This bag was in my destiny. When I first saw it,I just passed. I came back a few months later and it was on sale for $10!!! No kidding…its smart, roomy, so so so comfy(jersey), reliable(sketchers after all) and now cheap….why not :)

I felt energized dressing up like a Rock-chic. Haven't done this in a long time. Dark exaggerated eyes, pouffy hair, studded, sparkly crops and tanks all shout Rock Onnn

Changing Skies Outfit 2

Hello there!!!! Thanks for reading today. This blog is in sequence to the previous post"changing skies outfit 1". So clear enough this is the second outfit that I put together in reference to the same theme..dark,deep,mysterious,layer y with a whip of lightning. This is the mood of my theme and so for the outfits. For those who have not read the previous blog, I am doing outfit pairings inspired by the weather this time of the year. Its rainy,romantic and mysterious. I have chosen an identical color palette for my outfits as well. Black,brown,grey,silver and navy are the colors of importance.
For this shoot I chose my husband's school campus so that I can relate to the crowd(one of actual consumers) in this attire.
We were lucky to find this lecture hall empty.
So here comes my second look.

Everything here whispers deep…dark…and black. The skirt, the coat, the shoes, the gloves
and the tights :) I have this little brooch on my coat in letter T, my husband gave it to me from one of those toy vending machines. I just like to hang onto it.

I have simply used layering here. Dark on dark can actually be lost in layering,but if you keep two darks in different surfaces, its lots of action and style. I am pairing my satin pleated skirt with my georgette printed tunic in navy.To complement these two colors of the same intensity, I cinched my waist with a metallic print belt.It follows the same palette but has a hint of silver,which separates these two pieces with style. I also roped in a totally different color here to spice up this monochromatic look. Enters wool scarf in mustard and maroon, neatly lying around my neck and fixed with the belt.

This outfit is perfect for school and work. Its neat, stylish, comfy and weather appropriate.
So everyone wins here. Even I did not have to do a lot with my accessories and makeup. Just a swipe of red lipstick,clean face and some leather gloves and am ready to attend a lecture or ready for a presentation at work. This skirt hits a little below my knees which gives 80's look. A look that reminds me of those conservative catholic schools in my neighborhood. Well all is well that ends well. It was a really cold day and I survived it in this outfit:)
I would also like to add here,that since I wanted this look to be theme appropriate, I chose black sheer stockings.If you would like to achieve a rock-chic look with this attire,you sure can pair a different color stocking.
Like fuchsia……!!!! don't forget to put on your wool socks on top of stockings,because stockings make legs leaner but wool socks give you the courage to wear them with some attitude in this biting cold.

Changing Skies: outfit 1

Hi there,people!!!Thank you very much for reading.Here comes the first outfit dedicated to this wonderful weather.You already had the previw of the dress I have customized in this blog. Its a rayon maxi dress with somewhat african print.I am not sure but thats what this print reminds me of.It has shades of brown,charcoal,grey,off-white and black.Perfect for the theme"Changing Skies".
I paired it with my black, sequined ,3/4 sleeve top. These sequins also run in the same color palette,i.e metallic silver/grey.So they are shiny but not sparkling.Just the way skies have that hint of dirty silver every time it thunders.Plus its fabric is cotton/lycra jersey so it gives warmth without being bulky,as am wearing it underneath my dress.
I paired it further with this printed cotton cardi, and this brightens the whole outfit.Even though its base color is chocolate brown,the printed flowers have a hint of pale pink and pale orange,which gives a pop of bright colors while maintaining to be in the same theme.
Finally to combat this chilly wind I compiled the whole outfit with my greyish-blue(its like a faded indigo) Faux Fur vest.This gives the whole look a neatness and a sophisticated vibe.

Hey you guys :)….thanks for reading today.This blog is just to remind everyone that skies are changing colors now.Its beautiful.Yeah!!! I mean its getting cooler,breezy and rainy up here.Weather is fluctuating continuously.That's why I changed the backdrop of my blog(you must have noticed),its dark and sexy. Just to let you know I love this color combination in this kind of weather.A mix of black and grey,a mix of deep blue and purple and a mix of khaki green and brown.I am going to come up with few looks on this color palette in this week.So keep reading and do try these color-combos from your wardrobe to compliment this dark but romantic weather.Just a look towards the sky and you will be tempted to these dark-deep hues.

Stepping Out fest 2011

Hii people.Thanks for reading and visiting my blog.Well,I visited the very popular fest of blacksburg called Steppin Out Festival.Which takes place every year in downtown area.Its probably the grandest fest in the vicinity.Artists,manufacturers,retailers and several bands attend this fest.This year it was held for 2 days.I visited the very first day and completely loved it.I am sharing few pictures from the fest.I myself dressed up as a country chic for this event with a cute floral scarf (Walmart)on my head and light cardigan(wet-seal) paired with twill shorts(old navy) and neon-pink tank(charlotte russe).To accessorize I just had a long glass- beaded necklace(express),purple kitten heels(since i had to walk a lot)and mauve(coach)wrist pouch.I used one of my hand made necklaces(bright green) and used it as anklet(some fun)

Rejuvenate your wardrobe

Thanks for reading friends.Have you ever wondered that in spite of having wardrobe full of clothes and accessories,a lot of them are just useless and a single thing that you really want to wear??Yess???So how to make your existing wardrobe juicy,that's what I am going to share today with all of you.I have also been through this a lot of times till I found that organization is the key to this confusion.lets track them down to make your wardrobe irresistible and clutter free.A place you would want to call heaven on earth.

Organize: Clutter destroys your creativity.It engages you and your energy in a negative direction.separate your clothing items according to their basic function.for example all trousers should be piled together or should hang together.separate skirts,shorts,blouses,cardigans,dresses etc etc.It will help you define your imagination.you can now create a whole ensemble mentally by putting each piece at its best.

Explore: Try to wear all the outfits in your wardrobe often and whenever possible.sometimes we keep saving certain outfits for special occasion.And that never happens!!!!start experimenting with those pieces.take them out and pair them with something little less exquisite.It might work out for smaller events(at least).you don't have to wait all your lifetime for that exclusive party.

Colors: Don't keep buying things in the same color.before going for shopping.prepare a checklist of all the colors you already have or have been wearing all this time mostly.every color gives you a different feeling and stimulates you in a different direction.So experiment with new colors.if you find fluorescent pink too odd to wear in clothing,start small. Buy a hairband or bangles in the same color.It will reduce the intensity of the hue and you will still get the feeling of having worn that color.

silhouettes:Experimenting with various silhouettes can also make you feel better about your boring wardrobe.If all you have in your closet is, v necks or polos or scoop necks then it time to give them a new company.Shop for a halter neck top or tube dress to get out of this same routine shapes.This will boost your mood,your confidence will make you look new instantly.Now you just need an excuse to open your closet and try on lovely clothes you always had.

Control Shopoholic: Limit yourself to shopping trips.The more you see the more you will be tempted to buy.Make yourself a schedule just like you do for vacations.Twice in a month will be a good start.you will have sufficient time to utilize and reinvent your pre-existing wardrobe.This will also help you keep your wardrobe from getting bland with the same styles or colors.Since every season emphasizes on a particular color or style.You don't want to end up with 10 pairs of rompers in aqua blue….lolllllllllll

Take Care:Maintain your wardrobe and its contents.whether its dry cleaning,hand washing or simple air drying.Indulge with them routinely.It will give you a sense of belonging as a trendsetter.It will keep you engaged,and wont distract you(e.g shopping,shopping and more shopping).A fresh and clean wardrobe is more attractive.You are going to fall in love with your collection and will stay that way.

Watch your frame:Don't always follow whats hot in the market,also see what looks hot on you.Layering was so much in fashion last year but its makes me look messy and out of shape(i mean shorter..ehhhhhh).The reason being,am petite and layering hides whatever possible curves I have and make me look bulky instead.So I avoid doing it.Instead I use little more colors to give me same effect and no bulk.Sometimes I use multi colors in one look with subtle accessories or makeup.

Hit and trial:If you are really tempted to buy something which you know will not look good on you,then just try it in the stores.That's what fitting rooms are made for(other than checking the size)The minute u look in the mirror,believe me,nothing on earth can convince you to buy that article no matter if its selling like a hot cake.I have tried this method several times,and have not felt more content and confident ever before.It just confirms my belief that everyone one else wearing it(and looking bad) is dumb.

Redesign (renovate):And last but not least,try to reuse old pieces from your wardrobe.Those few that you don't want to part with ever,like that pretty sequined skirt or that cute, cute candy pink t-shirt.You can use them as scarf or even as patch work on your jeans or your tote bag.Make it stay with you forever and ever.

In series of Customized look 2

Thanks for reading today.This blog is in refrence to my previous blog titled"my first customized look".I know its been a while since I last blogged but my cam went kaput and I had to wait to click my new pics.Now that, its still not fixed,I couldnt wait any longer.Here I am putting up pics taken from my web cam.It will help just about enough for now.I had kept few looks ready in advance,so I am sharing.Okay here are two looks that I have created with the same outfits I did in my previous blog.Those items of clothing were

Here I have paired my harem pants with a printed cotton shirt from wet seal ($7).This one is crushed.It's rounded hem and sleek waist compliments the billowiness of harem pants.This gives a definition to the whole look.One thing to remember that you should not wear two pieces of clothing of the same volume.If bottom is defining then top should be flowy to balance the sleekness otherwise you will look like a stick or a ball.This is what I have done here with this tapered shirt,tried to balance out the bulk in harem pants.To bind the whole look together I picked one strong color.My belt,sandals and neck-lace all are in bright Green.Which can be called the most common color in the whole outfit.This look is more artistic and gives a vibe of put-together- with- effort.Its great for a street fair or a daytime private get together.

The second piece of clothing was the tank top from mango in peach color.That street chic top can also be appropriate for a corporate look if used scarcely.

This trouser in beige color is from hang ten($26),I bought them for my formal meetings in 2005.They last forever.I dint really wear them a lot but whenever I did I tried to make them look less boring by adding a touch of color.Any formal(office) look is almost incomplete without a jacket.So I threw on this grey cotton/polyester jacket from Kmart(a whopping $5)Last season they were pretty popular and I always wanted to have one.So I waited until the season end and got them really cheap.This is a boyfriend jacket which looks perfect with my linen trousers and black shoes.I would accessorize this look with something neat.I had this jewel toned grey peal set(it was a gift) which served the purpose.Now that everything is in the same line(neatness).Now to make this look interesting and awaken am going to seek help from makeup.Red lips did the needful.It does not look too loud because the peach tank is balancing out the bold lip shade.This is how a corporate look can be created with sophistication which will not look boring at the same time. Doesn't this look make you go to office happier ?????Please give me your feed back and let me know if any of this helps you even a bit.

P.S. Don't use a very loud makeup (ehhhh tacky) or matte(ghostly) one at work place.Just try to emphasize your eyes or your lips with little color.They will take care of the rest.....:}

Mother's day is on 8th.Its gives us an opportunity to show the woman in our life(for every child it will always be mom)that we care.I speak to my mum almost every two days,listen to her,share my thoughts, my apprehensions and tell her strange things.For me I want to celebrate her presence in my life every day.But I would still love to dedicate a day just to her;to pamper her,to make her feel special and to let her know that am still her little girl with fiery temper who loves her the most.Dedicating one day to her would also remind us how much we have taken her for granted a lot of times(innumerable...honestly.....she is mom,she will understand).Not today!!!not at all.No excuses.Ok time to make this Mother's day memorable for Her.I would keep my policy maintained here too.No wasting of money no rushing to the nearby mall to buy an expensive gift or even any gift .Giving our quality time will make her feel way nicer and special.
Mom =love+care+time.So should we.
Lets start this mom's day by giving her all that she has given us and is still giving.love.care.time.
I have these really fun ideas which am gonna share with all the lucky daughters(sons can assist) who are around their mom this time(am far far).You can try all or any one as per your inclination.

Every mother likes it when she is pampered by her daughters.So why not give her a cute little mani-padi service.Take out all your nail paints and let her decide which ones she would love to get.Use your creativity and give her custom made nail art.Massage her feet and arms before starting off.You will see a big smile on her face which no gift will ever yield.

I tried my hand(mom is going to love this)

Let her relax with a home made face pack while nail paint is drying.You can prepare the following almost in a jiffy

1/2 tsp gram flour
1/2 tsp sandalwood powder
pinch of turmeric powder
2-3 drops of honey
1/2 tsp of yogurt
Now mix all the ingredients into a paste.Apply on clean and dry face and neck.let dry.wash off with a wet towel or simply warm water.Voila!!!Instantly glowing mom.

Make her feel like a star with an exotic hairstyle.Give her a look that she has not seen herself in.I am attaching some hair tutorials from youtube to help you all.They are super easy and fun.

Go through your wardrobe keeping in mind that you have to find appropriate pieces to compliment her personality.Try to mix-n-match from her wardrobe.Experiment with rather smaller pieces or your accessories(silver and gold look interesting around this time of the year).Use a scarf or a stole to accentuate her look.You can even lend her your cardigan or oversized blazer.Either would add a punch to the whole look.
I personally don't like much of makeup on my mom(neither does she).But if your mom loves to play with cosmetics,then share your makeup palette with her for today.Let her experiment with your colors.Am sure she is going to giggle like a baby with excitement.Play her favorite music while you both are using your expertise in prepping Her.Ask your dad or your sibling(better if brother,since he can't help otherwise)to snap you two in action.This will make for the fondest memories.

Once mom is bright and gorgeous,hurry up and get dressed in your basics.Let her be the center of attention today.Gather in the living room to watch a funny movie together.Keep some snacks ready while you all enjoy the fun and laughter.
Believe me,I haven't seen my mother happier than when we all are around her.Her happiness lies in ours.

My first customized look

This is my third blog and I have decided to be more regular.As I started off with my first blog how i hated the retailers around for being over crowded,Am gonna share how I manage my wardrobe with the same old pieces looking fashion forward and exciting.Last week we(I and my hubby)managed to sneak out to blue ridge mountains.Our destination was Mabry Mills Restaurant.Its a nice place to eat with scenic surroundings.So i decided to renew and recycle my wardrobe for this.I pulled out this super sweet tank top from Mango,which I bought in 2006 from Mumbai.Its peach in color and has Mango printed in gold.This tank I paired with a harem pants,in bright green with multi-color prints.These cotton pants I bought in India this time when I went for a visit.

I paired this look with my chunky bangles,they were all over the market last season and a long multi-colored necklace of stones.My footwear was again from Mumbai(around the same time I bought my tank top).They are pale pink strappy flat chappals with sequins sewn on the straps.This completes my look for a casual day time eat-out.Also I carried my shoulder bag,which I call my airport bag.Its huge enough to accommodate my excess baggage.It has adjusting straps on both the side that can elongate or scrunch it.So for this day I just pulled the straps and gave it a trendy look.Its color is so bright(bright red),that complimented my whole look.
Except harem pants,everything else was from previous season or even older than that.Ancient.But see how well it worked and all eyes on me.Sure,I did get compliments for my bright and so-summer look.
For me the biggest satisfaction was that I found out a whole new wardrobe from my old one and felt absolutely new and in-fashion.Now in the next blog I will use some of these pieces and use them for a different event in a whole new way.
