&lt;br /&gt;
Are you in a habit of being negative and critical with your child? Maybe it&#39;s a critical comment about the outfit they chose, or a harsh comment about their school work, maybe an over-reaction on a mess they&#39;ve made, or a negative label you use because you are frustrated by their behavior, or maybe it&#39;s just a habit of picking out the flaws and accentuating their weaknesses...or lots of nagging and threats...?We all do this on occasion, and there is certainly a time and place for discipline, and critiques, but let&#39;s be wise and consider our words.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This is a reminder to myself and anyone else that might be in need of it...kids are people too. Let&#39;s do our best to reflect on the communication we have with our kids, and make a little change if it&#39;s called for.&lt;br /&gt;

It&#39;s quite simple. When it comes to behavior expectations, development matters...a lot! If we want to be able to create reasonable and fair expectations for a child, we have to have some background information about the child&#39;s development age and stage.
