i stumbled across these textiles by shabd simon-alexander, who uses tie-dye! she got her big break when she made a limited collection of pieces inspired by the hubble space telescope. how wonderful is that. these are some of my favourites, but i wish i could afford one.

one: spring blossoms. two: alex and i at the karmic cafe. three: me, ready for a dance on a night out. four: alex and i at the saffron quarter. five: spring branches in the morning sun.
disposable cameras are my favourite (see here, here and here). and so is spring.
so this morning i got up early and went on my first ever jog, and considering i haven't done any physical exercise since i left high school 3 years ago, it's quite an achievement! i'm getting fit for the 5 kilometre race for life which i'm running in june to raise money for cancer research uk.
now i'm going to ask something i wouldn't normally, but if you could spare the smallest sum of money to sponsor me and raise money for cancer research uk it would honestly mean the world to me.

irina werning is a photographer from buenos aires, who, in this series called 'back to the future' recreates old photos to a tee, with the same people and any costumes that she can find or make.

christopher kane is a designer i'm looking at for my final major because of his pre-spring-summer collection. i'm not sure i was too keen on his galaxy prints before, but now, i'm just in love with them. also, carey mulligan wore one during the toronto film festival, so i'm sold.

Wonders of the Universe by Professor Brian Cox is the starting point for my final major project. if you haven't seen this series, i'd recommend to try to, or read this book.
the universe really is amazing.

excuse the mess in my bedroom. this is my cat roxy, chilling on my bed. i liked the way she had her arm extended over my pillow. this made me laugh.
this is my first week off in i don't know how long. and it feels so good. even if i do only lie in until 9 o'clock.

so, for alex's media course work he had to plan and shoot a music video.
we all took the opportunity to dress up and dance around. my friend, sophi wrightson, did the make up. she's amazing at making people look like they've been shot in the head (me last halloween).

sohei nishino is a japanese artist who does maps of famous citys (paris, new york, london, hong kong and more) using photos taken in that city, this is one called the i-land. they look very cool almost like a mosaic.

just realised there are a few images i never put on here. this is one of them. sophie with her hair in a beautiful knot, and paintbrushes.
alot has been happening around here lately, my final major project (FMP, which is what i'll get graded on for the whole year) is upon me and i've decided uni isn't right for me next september. i've also come to the realisation that as much as i love cameras and taking photos, i am not a photographer by nature, i am an artist, an 'expressive artist'.
i've also just altered my name, i felt like i needed a change. and a positive change at that. so whilst flicking through my music i shuffled onto jonsi's song 'go do' and thought it was perfect. what more could you want. just to go and to do. if i could make music, i'd make music that sounded like his.

one, the sunset. two, my friend sophi and i. three, we got a train there. four, when we got our tickets out.
we went to see mogwai about 2 weeks ago, and they were by far, the single best band i've ever seen live.
ps. found a great photographer the other day, called dave mead. check out the beard gallery and i assure you, you won't be disappointed.

li wei is a chinese photographer who specialises in creating gravity deifying photographs, he's brilliant isn't he. and he does it all there on the spot, it's not photoshoped. he has people suspended on wires and then edits out the wires in post production. imagine that!

ps. for bobbi, the films i watched last week were : star wars episode vi, the illusionist (french animated version), cemetery junction, the girl who leapt through time, black dynamite and never let me go. the girl who leapt through time was particularly beautiful.
