Music Was A Luxury

Music was a luxury when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's. No more record players and 8 tracks! It took time to make mix-tapes and DJ's were responsible for getting us through our day. Just further illustrates how much we take music for granted and children of today don't realize how much we relied on cassette players for entertainment. Music was never free, no Internet, iTunes, or bootleg downloads. Albums/LP's/records, tapes, and CD's were appreciated for their art work and for the fact that some were nice enough to finally share the correct lyrics with you. Even now, most play music on their phones and mp3 players are becoming obsolete. What's next? A microchip in our heads?Sure, going for a jog with a Walkman was like lifting weights but there is a nostalgia and appreciation for how hard we had to work to make music readily available, portable, and customized.

A Community With A Common Interest (Click for more videos)

I joined this company in 2010 as an accompanist and pit member. In 2011, I had the honor of being promoted to musical director. Over the years, I have watched so many levels of talent grow and develop such a sense of community and family. So much work is put into these productions and it is amazing how everyone pulls together through the end of it all. Together, we gain confidence, overcome challenges as a group, suffer and celebrate together. This seems to happen no matter what company or school I work for. What an essential part of people's lives!

My Inspiration, Motivation, and Mentor

I am fortunate to have had one of the greatest musical mentors of my life practically push me into what I am doing today but I'm thankful for every moment that he did.

My uncle"wore many hats" in his lifetime, always seeking something new to accomplish. He perfected everything he set out to do while making everyone around him happy.

I now understand why he shared his talents with so many people and that you don't have to be tied down to one purpose in life to be proud of what you do.
