The City of Georgetown Water Utility was created to serve city residents. Today the utility’s 440-square-mile water service territory extends far outside our city limits into the ETJs of several neighboring communities. Transferring these areas located outside of Georgetown’s city limits and ETJ to a private water provider is expected to result in a 60 percent reduction in the amount of water Georgetown will need to purchase by 2070. This significant reduction in water demand is expected to save the utility hundreds of millions of dollars in the coming decades, stabilizing rates for City of Georgetown and ETJ residents and businesses.  

Because the utility is owned by the people of Georgetown, state law requires city residents to decide on the proposed sale of the water service territory.    

Important election dates: 

Monday, April 20: Last day to apply for a ballot by mail 

April 20 - April 28: Early in-person voting 

May 2: Election day

Each year, one student from each of the 15 SBOE districts is honored for making a real difference in their schools and communities, such as helping local charities, starting their own organizations, leading community projects or assisting those in need. 

To qualify, a student’s service must be voluntary and not tied to curriculum requirements, school service projects or pre-existing community programs. Any student from prekindergarten through high school can be nominated by teachers, school staff, parents, classmates or community members.  

To nominate a student or learn more about the eligibility and selection process, visit the SBOE Student Heroes Award webpage. Nominations are open until April 24, 2026. 

Honorees will be recognized at the June 2026 State Board of Education meeting in Austin, Texas. Each Student Hero will receive a plaque and a medal from their SBOE district member.

The 45-minute documentary film produced by the City of Georgetown tells the story of a racially segregated city in the 1950s and the end of segregation in our public schools in the 1960s. African American residents from the Track-Ridge-Grasshopper neighborhood joined members of the citizen group Committee for Better Schools to file lawsuits to challenge segregation in Georgetown schools. 

After the film screening, there will be a question-and-answer discussion including a panel of those featured in the film, some of whom were involved in the desegregation effort. 

Come and join us for this community event recognizing the role of African American residents in Georgetown history as part of Black History Month. 

The film will be available on the City’s YouTube channel after the screening. 

This Yom Hashoah event invites the community to reflect, remember, and bear witness. Roth-Howe’s presentation offers not only historical insight but also a moving intergenerational perspective grounded in her own family’s experience as Holocaust refugees.

This program will take place at The Georgetown Public Library’s Hewlett Room, located at 402 West 8th Street in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2-4 pm. The event is FREE and all are welcome.

A therapeutic class that offers a fresh approach to managing anxiety and stress by moving away from "trying harder" and instead focusing on self-compassion, body-mind connection, and setting boundaries. The book provides practical exercises, drawing on psychology and personal experience, to help move out of survival mode and into a life of greater connection and joy by learning to listen to our bodies and emotions rather than fighting them. Facilitated by Courtney Peters.

The book is provided by Texas Baptist Children's Home.

Requirements & Expectations:

• Must be 18 years or older

• Must be a Williamson County resident

• A laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet access is required to participate

• Participants must agree to group confidentiality guidelines

• A commitment to attend each meeting. If you must miss a meeting, please let the group leader know in advance.
