If you need a new idea for a spring party...I'd like to suggest an 80's party. Decade themes are always popular. It's fun to take a look back at the past and remember what fun was had.

The 80's are most popular for PACMAN and arcade games, so center your party around this theme. Decorate with pacman symbol cutouts and lots of colorful balloons and streamers. Hot pink, turquise, school bus yellow, and lime green, along with black for contrast are the colors you should feature.

Decorating Ideas:
Decorate with green and gold balloons, clover cutouts, and green lights. Display a "pot of gold" by filling a black kettle with gold wrapped candy.

Fun Party Game Idea:
Pin the Pot on the Rainbow - Paint a rainbow on a piece of poster board. Give each guest a construction paper "pot of gold" that has velcro on the back. On their turn, blindfold the guest, spin them 3 times, point them in the right direction and let them try to "pin" the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

Snack Idea:
Cut sandwiches and cookies into a clover shape with cookie cutters. Serve green jello, some type of green drink or punch, and any other green food you can think of.

Planning Your Child's Outdoor Birthday Party

Are you planning an outdoor birthday party for your child? Your backyard may be an excellent option for your child's birthday celebration. However, this type of party will take some planning if you are going to ensure all of the fun and excitement your little one deserves. Your planning will involve everything from food for outdoor dining, to party favors and games.

Luckily, we have the best party planning tips around and can help you make the celebration a complete success.

Tips For Planning An Outdoor Birthday Party

The outdoors and children just seem to go together. They love running wild in the yard, soaking in the sun, and exploring their own little piece of the world. So, planning an outdoor birthday party is an excellent idea. Before you begin your party planning though, consider these tips.

• Don't be afraid to limit your guest list. Consider how big of a yard you have, how many decorations, food, and gifts are going to cost, and the amount of time you can set aside for the party. However, even with limitation to the guest list, always plan for one or two additional guests. You never know who forgot to send in their RSVP card, which of your cousins may show up at the last minute for a surprise visit, or whose brother tags along.

• Always have a back up plan in case of rain. One of the most frustrating parts of outdoor fun is how quickly a little bit of rain can ruin it all. Keep a close eye on the weather channel and have a plan B in mind.

• Prepare the food before the party. The day of the party will probably be hectic. You will be decorating, wrapping presents, and dealing with an overly excited child who can't believe that he has to wait to celebrate his birthday. Prepare all of the food you can beforehand to save a little time and a lot of stress.

• Plan for hot or chilly weather. Whatever time of year your party is, be mindful of how the temperatures will affect the children attending the party. If it is hot out, make sure to provide a cool place to rest and plenty of beverages. Always be ready with the sun screen, and make sure children are wearing jackets if the temperatures are low.

• Plan for seating and potential food disasters. Make sure to arrange your outdoor dining area so there is plenty of seating for both the children and adults. Make sure you are using the correct type of furniture as well. An outdoor dining table made of synthetic rattan will be much more resistant to the whims of a hyper child with a plate of ice cream and cake. Even if you are left with a mess at the end of the party, one spray from the hose should take care of it.

• Don't limit the party to the afternoon. More and more these days, children's birthday parties are limited to a few hours in the afternoon with just a cake and ice cream. How boring is that? Be different and exciting. Create a theme for the party and have everyone dress up according to the theme. Hold an outdoor dining event that reflects the theme of the party. For instance, if you choose a space themed party, the children could dress up as astronauts or aliens. They could eat rocket-ship-shaped cookies and alien slime (lime green Jello). Or you could plan a sleepover and allow the children to catch lightning bugs once the sun goes down. You could also use your outdoor fireplace to make s'mores. Pitch a tent in the backyard and allow the little ones to stay up telling ghost stories and sleep under the stars.

When you are planning your child's outdoor birthday party, it is important for you to consider your outdoor dining arrangements, the food you will be preparing, the weather, and the kind of party you are going to have. Have fun with your plans and make this party one your child will remember.

• Decorate your place with balloons and streamers using the colors of the Mexican flag -- red, white, and green.
