Mommy is a bit depressed today, the weather and the absence of our dad makes her days harder and harder. She didn't feel like blogging that's why she asked me to do it again, also she said we did quite a good job yesterday. Wow, thank you for your trust, Mommy! ;-)

Our grandma got Mommy's blanket which she had when she was still living here in Germany. It's a huge blanket and warm and cozy. In Egypt we just used blankets in winter time, then we had 3!

Well, Mommy didn't even have the patience or energy to put the cover over that blanket. to be able to use it. So meanwhile I am using it! I have spent all night on it which got Mommy a bit more sad because both of us used to sleep in Mommy's bed. Sorry Mommy, I didn't mean it, but also I was too lazy to get up from that blanket again.

I have spent all night on it which got Mommy a bit more sad because both of us used to sleep in Mommy's bed. Sorry Mommy, I didn't mean it, but also I was too lazy to get up from that blanket again.

Wish you all a happier Sunday!

And for all our American furriends: Take care with the hurricanes! we always follow the news about it, it must be horrible.

Taking A Breather This Week

There are so many dogs and cats in need at the shelters. The rescuer from Ohio in the previous post
http://itsrainingcatsdogsglixman.blogspot.com/2008/09/if-you-call-yourself-animal-lover-you.html

tells it like it is. This is no game. Animals who are highly adoptable are killed because their time is up. Their time can be an hour, a day, a week, three weeks. In Aloha's and the 3 month old no name puppy it was over too soon. If you can't rescue or adopt, what about taking a dog for a walk, a dog like Aloha or a joyous puppy who only wants to play and who eventually will be killed because there are too may joyous puppies and too few homes. There are dogs whose last days you can fill with love and play and fresh air. This is their life and someone needs to care. Dogs and cats who don't make it out of shelters are victims of our society. I mean why can't people spay and neuter. Then 3 month old puppies will not be taking their last breath at an animal shelter in a gas chamber or by the needle. So volunteer at your local shelters. Have your kids volunteer. And if you can afford to, help with a donation and sponsorship.
Please look at the current posts and the archived ones. The dogs in the posts may be adopted, rescued or dead but these pounds and rescues get a steady influx of animals. This won't stop until the shelter system changes and more people realize having a pet is a life long commitment.

I will probably post a couple times this week( maybe not) but will get back to daily posting the week of the 15th.

Go walk a shelter dog!

He is about 4 months old (as of 9/2). We believe he is a Collie/Beagle mix. He is very cute with gentle and loving eyes. He will be around 40 lbs when fully grown. He likes to be petted and loved, but can be a little shy with new people. Once he is in a stable home and builds some confidence, that shyness will disappear. You will find him to be a loving and friendly guy. He is good with other dogs and would make a nice playmate. He is playful and will be fun. Bradley is ready for a home of his own. They are about 3 months old (as of 8/25) and are Beagle/Australian Cattle Dog mixes. They should be 35 - 40 lbs when fully grown. They are in foster care where they are running, playing and enjoying themselves. They are well socialized and are very friendly. They do not get nervous around new people and their tails wag away when you give them attention. They are sweet natured and affectionate puppies. The puppy pictured here is Mona, the only girl in the litter. She is a lovely girl and has a charming face. She is ready to bounce her way into your heart.

Our number of dogs going to rescue are down as are our adoptions. I believe we send out healthy, friendly dogs and we do our best to answer questions about temperament.
Please help our dogs and puppies! Unfortunately his adoption fee did not cover all of his vetting expenses.
Dasia: Tumors were removed & biopsied. She was spayed, vaccinated and heartworm tested.
Jada came in with an injured eye & her eye had to be removed , she was spayed HW tested & vaccinated.
A lot of spay/neuter surgeries and heartworm tests on various dogs and cat spay/neuters.
Kally: hernia surgery done. She will need another surgery & spay in a month or so.
Max: cocker spaniel with cherry eye, surgery done, neutered, vaccinated.
Walker came in as a stray very emaciated patches of hair pulled out where some thing attacked him.

This week, Photohunters theme is strings. These are my favourite strings. The strings that wiggle about for me to chase and jump to. When they are new, they have fevvers on, but we bite them all off very quickly!

If you click the Photohunters graphic you can find lots more photos on this theme.

Photo Hunt - String(s)

Today's Photo Hunt Theme is String(s). Mommy allowed us to blog ourselves today because we love strings so much.

Actually I, Pumuckl, discovered these cool things. The first string we had was one from Mommy's trousers. I stole it from her when she didn't watch me! Haha!!! She couldn't get it inside her trousers again so she allowed us to keep it! Thank you Mommy!

This string looks a bit destroyed now.
Our claws and teeth are perfect for destroying strings!

When our human grandparents visited us in Egypt
our granddad put some other things on that string
which made it even more fun to play with!

Yes, that first string is still very good! We love it.
And we love our evening string playtime.

The second string I stole from Mommy is a ribbon. It was around a gift she received from a friend of her. Well, it was a gift for all of us. Mommy got the yummy Belgium chocolate and we got that ribbon.

But now let me also say something about our strings, Pumuckl!

Yes, I do love the strings. I am happy our Mommy took our strings when we moved to Germany. Usually I am not the toy-freak, but with strings that's totally different. That's so much fun. But I like to play with Mommy and my string alone, without Pumuckl. He must understand that, I am the older one!

Well, that was the story of our strings. We think every cat should have one string minimum!

Wish you all a great weekend, with less rain but more strings!

Yours,
