Back 2 Gunung Datok

I visited back my first mountain on 10th June 2010. It was Gunung Datok, Rembau.

This time, only my youngest brother Jack and me climbed the mountain.. It was afternoon. A cloudy afternoon.

Because we climbed in weekday and in afternoon which were non-popular climbing time.... there's no other people except both of us. So, all the way up, we encounters a lot of black monkeys, lizards, and insects. The experiences of climbing were awesome and thrilling as we constantly saw trees around us shaking / moving caused by movements of monkeys:)

At the peak, we saw a dark green snake which was taking a nap under sun at rock...... and also another black monkeys.

Capturing Thunder & Lightning

( some time back around April-May, I wanted to post this but I dont have much time till now...)

A new hobby, infatuation actually :)

Out of boring caused by heavy downpour, I looked outside the window....
and then, decided to spend some of my quality time looking outside the window watching the rain....

then, I decided to take some lightning picture using my handphone...
my phone n79 video record at 30fps 640X480 ... not a high end quality but it is sufficient for me.
then I crop some pics out of the video using some free video editor that enable me to select from frame to frame.

Able to capture lightning is a matter of Luck and combination of skills :)
It gives me such much satisfactions.... until sometime, i wanted so much to buy a good DSLR camera :))

Expedition Gunung Liang

Climbed Gunung Liang on 17 April 2010.Just to write out my experience of climbing here;

16 April
Depart from my Universiti Teknologi Petronas at around 8pm.
Stop at Tapah Resthouse to have dinner.
Reach Tanjung Malim at 10pm
Hike 1 hour 30minutes along small village road to campsite(starting point)
Overnight at the campsite

17 April
Everyone get ready at 9am. Start moving at 10 am.
- Passed through a water dam at 10am.
Hike (1 hour 30minutes) exactly to reach a waterfall (river) - another campsite / check point
- according to Abg Yien guider, if rain, the water would be moving fast and it is dangerous to cross over.
- stopped at the checkpoint to have lunch.
-Continue hike at 1pm. hike around 40minutes, there is 1 small place suitable for campsite / checkpoint
-Continue journey to final checkpoint - the final campsite. length of hike is 3 hours.
-at final campsite, there is a small water point.

18 April
Last night I slept at around 8pm.... at around 4-5am, I woke up. The camp was crowded..... I couldnot sleep well... the guy beside me also cannot sleep well.. It was raining throughout the night. water keep dropping on his sleeping bag making it wet.... T_T.... not much space to sleep well ... environment surrounding me is dark and wet
at around 6am... I decided to wake up and I wrote this notes at around 6.20am... It was still raining.
It was cold but my NorthFace jacket kept me warm throughout the whole night ^^

Getting ready and then start hiking to the peak at around 9.00 am... reach the peak at 10am (1 hour journey - ^fast^-) and then loitered at peak till 12 pm...

there are 2 peak at Gunung Liang. where first peak were called West Peak, then another were East Peak... haha.
time to descend from peak back to camp was 40 minutes.
-cooked lunch at the camp,
- start to descend back at around 3pm,
it took me 1hour 30minutes to reach the river/ water fall ....
again, it rain heavily..... the forest were so dense until I hardly feel the rain water.... but as I moving, it get less dense and here's lot of water dropping on me.... the forest floor were all wet and muddy... yeah !!

Had to wait for others to reach... start departing back at around 10pm... stop by at Tapah again to have KFC for dinner but it closed... so had to eat normal food. haha

Gunung Ledang Hike

I went to climb Gunung Ledang together with my friend ( Alex Gan, Lex Teo, and my youngest brother named Kok Jack ) during my last holiday ( 19 March 2010). Friday.

Background information of Gunung Ledang.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gunung Ledang was well known for its own legends. According to the legends, there were a princess named Puteri Gunung Ledang staying in the mountain. Once, a King(Sultan) tried to propose to Puteri and she accepted the offer but with few conditions. One of the conditions was to build a golden bridge connecting to the Gunung Ledang. However, all the conditions were met by the King (Sultan) except one which was killing the King own son. Therefore, the King gave up.

According to the guider that guide us, there are possibilities to encounter Nenek Kebayan (another form of Puteri Gunung Ledang as she can changes appearance) and also the Puteri herself.

It is a important to maintain a good habit when going to other people places. One should not simply litter and destroying tree. A rumor saying that there would be some certain unexplained punishment by forest guardian if one does not behave well.

Info bout climbing ;
According to the local guide, there's a lot hiker got lost in the jungle mostly those who went for climbing without informing local authority.

Generally, a climber need to get permit to enter and another permit to stay overnight (if plan to). Don't worry, permit just cost few Ringgits only.

Main reason to get a permit - is to tell the authority that you are going to climb. In case, you did not return within a period of time, then the authority will look for you.

Gunung Ledang is a well-preserved forest. Climber must deposit some money for rubbish (precaution taken to avoid people throwing rubbish in the forest)

Here goes my experience :

Gunung Ledang has little bit challange but it seems to be difficult for those who seldom climb :D

2nd time kinabalu Via Mesilau

This 7th January, I took a flight to Kinabalu. This xpdc was organized by Amirul. total Cost RM1150.

Below is the itinerary of the trip.
7th - reach Kinabalu air port in the afternoon, spend days at Tanjung Aru, then transport to Rose Cabin (nearby Kinabalu Park)

8th - Start Climbing via Mesilau Trek

9th - Reach summit before sunrise and then descend via Timpohan Trail

10th - Went to Water Rafting at Padas River. At night, went to Nightmarket at town.

11th - Went to Manukan Island and then afternoon go to afternoon market. Night take flight go back LCCT.

Mesilau Trail isn't that simple, extra 2.5km making the total distance is 11km. Mesilau Trail aint friendly and it is up and down trek making it is much more challenging than Timpohan. As people said, Timpohan is for baby while Mesilau is for real adult.

About the sight-seeing, Mesilau trail is much nicer and quiet ( due to little trekkers) .

Highlights are the waterfall and another waterfall at the hanging bridge.

Hanging Bridge

I finally know how it's feel when leg cramped... Briefly, the muscle will tighten up and cause muscle unable to move ( unable to extend). There will be an intense pain at the muscle .

To threat cramp,
-one should relax his muscles.
-straighten the muscles.
-after relaxed and muscles were straighten, then only apply cramp medicine. Usually a (heat rub) would be sufficient enough. However, medicine could be applied immediately but make sure muscles must be relaxed and straightened.

** notes ** simply applying cramp medicine wont help to cure cramp but just temporary restrain the pain. Most important to have muscle totally relaxed and straightened.

Caused of cramp :
- cold
- not enough stretching
- lack of preparations (muscles are not used with continuous work)
- lack of minerals
- tired

- cramp is what that happened when muscle fail to relax after contracting and its tightened. Can cause intense amount of pain. After relax muscle, one can continue exercise and then get a good rest.

Day 7 - 1st Jan 2010
I took Sinh Tourist bus to Hue from Hoi An. Approximate 4 hours trip.

The bus stopped by Marble Mountain. (visitor can choose to visit Marble Mountain or go around the Marble Shop, - there is time limit, around 20-30minutes ~depends)

Reaching Hue at around noon. Upon reaching Hue, a boy offered me a hotel and the hotel price were 8usd. Fall into my budget and it save my problem to find hotel. (it's convenient)

The first place. - I think it is a tomb. There were monks living inside.

I wandered alone at Hue and then a motorist offered me a ride to several places. At first, my initial plan were to discover Imperial City only and Hue City. I ended up in going to several places. I am satisfied with the trip. The guy even bring me to gold shop to exchange currency. Because of the fear of robbed, I gave extra VND 50.000 to the guy as tips :) made the ride to cost me VND150.000. (initial was VND 100.000)

10 USD can be exchanged approximately VND 190.000.

I walked around and soon I noticed that it is actually a graveyard. A very old graveyard. I knew that because it was exactly like Chinese Graveyard.

Most of the Imperial City Building were destroyed during Vietnam War and mostly were under repairing. Imperial City less attractive than the Tu Duc tomb because I over estimate Imperial City while under estimate Tu Duc tomb. Tu Duc tomb can be considered well preserved as many buildings were still standing.

Day 8 :
Did not visit places except going to Danang to take my flight to Hanoi.

At night, the bridge will be closed and turned in a direction that allow ships to go through. (info - fisherman go fishing at night)

Danang airport. Jetstar plane delayed for 2 hours. So, Kok Hong's Vietnamese friend bring us go around Danang.

Halong Bay Trip. Followed Queens Travel tour agency. cost me 32 usd for 2 days 1 night Ha Long Bay Trip (stay on boat)

stopped by at Art Centre when going to Hai Phong from Hanoi - (journey takes around 3-4 hours)

HCM museum is a worth visiting place. The museum is very big and has a lot stuff from History to the Art work.

Went to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Inside Mausoleum, there were guards guarding the well preserved Ho Chi Minh body.

Then, I went to the Hanoi first University. The University looks alike temple but it has now become a tourism spot.

Vietnam Travel Log 3

HOI AN - ancient town in Vietnam
- one of the world heritage ( UNESCO) site -
Vietnam have 5 heritage sites and I visited all 4 except the National Park. Basically all the heritage sites were attractive and unique except the My Son sanctuary which appeared to be less attractive (moderate).

The best places I ever visited in Vietnam. Even though I had a short time to visit Hoi An but I am still satisfy.
The most important is that I spent my 2010 New Year at Hoi An Town !

Tips : Tickets are needed to visit certain ancient House or Temple (Assembly Hall) or Museum. It is important to buy a ticket because there was a map included. The given map was useful and it brings you around Hoi An Ancient Town.

I bought a ticket and I taught I can visit all the places, but it appears that you need at least 3 tickets to visit all the Ancient Houses. ( There are many ancient houses and all houses more or less the same )

Buying a ticket would be sufficient to understand the Vietnamese culture and the Building Structure in Hoi An. (it is like a pass to visit Hoi An's Highlight )

However, I did not realize that until the next day when I looked at the ticket. What I did in Hoi An was a solo stuff because my travel friend ( Tah Kok Hong ) left me alone while he go find his friend for 2 days....
Because of my ignorant about the ticket, I simply go inside people houses with a mindset that " Now I got the ticket and I can visit all the places ! "
Sometimes, I was asked for ticket and being told that I need a ticket..... Because of communcation barrier.... I failed to understand properly and I continue visit. I leave only when I were told that I am not allowed to visit : ( .. Besides, there are some guards that did not check your ticket unless you show to them.

Traditional Theatre. I went inside and looked around. I hoped that I were sitting there quietly to watch finish the drama but I just could not understand Vietnamese language. Therefore, I only watched less than 5 minutes.

I wonder if the Westerner understand Vietnamese? Because they were concentrating.

Inside an ancient house. There are female officer that spoke English to explain the house history. Furniture in the house exceed 200 years old and yet it were still firm and sturdy.

I walked till Evening and I walked around to find accommodation. I walked and asked all the nearby hotels but none were available because of peak seasons ( it was 31st 2009 ).
Walked alone at Hoi An with dissapointed hope and some fear of no accomodation.
There were saying that " If you prepared for the worst, then you have nothing to fear of " but I just prepared half. That's y I am little scare.
I ended up back to SinH Tourist and I must thanks them for helping me to find a hotel. It was the most expensive stay among all my days in Vietnam ( 15 usd ). However, I am grateful to them Hoi An Sinh Tourist but not other Sinh Tourist. It is lucky to get a hotel because I already had something in mind that I am going to stay somewhere beside the road.....

I don't know it is actually a bad day or lucky day for me.. When I at hotel toilet, when I was half way settling my poo poo..... the electric suddenly went off.. I have to stop the process and find my head lamp... (fortunately I brought my lamp along)

Many things came into my minds because of the black out, was it because of ghost or my bad luck or etc ... haha

I remained calm and later noticed that it was black out due to overuse of electric for the New Year Celebration.

Hoi An is full of night life. Night in Hoi An was as beautiful as the Afternoon in Hoi An.

I am tired and decide to reward myself with expensive food at Cargo Restaurant. People said that Cargo Restaurant were the Best. I decided to give a try.
However, the results were normal only. Perhaps I have high demands. I considered the price and the food taste... Merely not balance... price seems to be over expensive with the taste. Aint really good with given price.

Here is the food I ordered. It's Fish... Taste nice... but I think not worth paying for.

Morning - went to My Son (followed Sinh Tourist program)

My Son is actually ancient temple and some of the temple were destroyed during the Vietnam War. Compared to Ayutthaya (Thailand), My Son is nothing. Because in my opinion, ancient temple in My Son wont amaze you but Ayutthaya will.

Visitor get to see the My Son artifact.

One thing special about My Son is the holy shrine. Visitor can actually get a look of the ritual room where during the old days, people used to pray in the room.

Holy Shrine. Locals believed that water flowing the the shrine was pure and beneficial.

As usual, visiting those ancient places required walking much. ~_~ haha

This law apply to other ancient places as well.

It was the Hoi An trip. The time kinda pack. !!!! I have few hours to walk around Hoi An ...

I am lazy to write in details about what actually happened... I will just summarize my 12 days Vietnam Trip here. 26 December to 6 Jan 2010.

Reach HCM via airasia ticket on 26th Dec Saturday Morning.

Some Important Notes :

Most Vietnam do not speak English.... important to know how to speak number in Vietnamese language ..(for the ease of buying)

Always bargain.

"WC" is Vietnamese short form for toilet.

Street foods are usually dirty but cheap. Make sure the soup is boiling if want to eat street foods.

Motorcycle is common. There's a lot motorbike in Vietnam... Becareful when crossing roads.. Tips by my friend.... when crossing road, do not run and just walk straight. Motorcyclist will evade you while you should evade car. In other words, stop and give way for car/bus/lorry and ignore motorcyclist because they will evade you... walk slowly ahead without stoping unless there is a car/bus/lorry.

In Vietnam, people do not use the word "petrol" but "gasoline".
Max speed limit at town is 30km/h while highway is 60km/h. Very little gasoline station, most gasoline at sold at shop. Seller will put a bottle infront their shop to indicate that they are selling gasoline.

Across the Vietnam, the cheapest accommodation that I and my friend ever stay is 7USD while most exp is 15USD. (2 people)

Sinh Tourist (formerly known as Sinh Cafe) located at tourism spot. The company has branch all over the Vietnam. Sinh Tourist provide buses service from a location to another and tour service. Sinh Tourist is a very popular tourism company in Vietnam.

I travelled from Ho Chi Minh to Hue (middle of Vietnam) by using the Sinh Tourist service.
From what I noticed throughout my trip across Vietnam.... Sinh Tourist Situated strategically at tourism spot and there is a lot of budget hotel surrounding Sinh Tourist.. So, it is easy to travel as you just need to walk for sight-seeing or perhaps rent a bicycle/ motorcycle. (I prefer walking because cheapest and convenient)

I personally think that most of Sinh Tourist service are quite poor. In fact, I think totally SUCK to the max...

Poor service.... Neglect customer... don't really care about customers' needs..... Unfriendly.... I think they dun really care much bout Asian....

However, it is a reliable company and Sinh Tourist has very nice buses.
Fucking part is they don't wait for tourist... kok hong friend late 2-3minutes and caused us ( me and Kok Hong) missed our bus for Cu Chi Tunnel. End up in paying extra 10usd to go there.
I conclude here ba....
HCM Sinh Tourist - service not good (sux)
Mui Ne Sinh Tourist -service not good (sux)
Nha Thrang Sinh Tourist - moderate (average - slightly below neutral)
Hoi An Sinh Tourist - Good ( ok )
Hue Sinh Tourist - ok (neutral)
Danang Sinh Tourist - ok (neutral)
Overall Sinh Tourist rating for me is 6 out of 10.... because of reliability.

I dunno bout Dalat and Hanoi Sinh Tourist... but certainly more or less the same...
Infact.. if I going to Vietnam again.. I will think twice before going for Sinh Tourist... I would consider other companies.

At Hanoi to Halong bay, I used other company... I think it is Queens travel (something with the word Queen). 32 USD only....2 days 1 night on Boat...
The tour guide was friendly and nice..

Beginning of day 1 :

Stay at Lele Hotel. somewhere nearby Sinh Tourist (formerly known as Sinh Cafe)
went to the War Remnants Museum.

what's inside the Museum.... It is about Vietnam War history and there are lot of weaponry.

Later, drop by the the Reunification Palace ( nearby War Remnants Museum - walking distance)

It is a place once used to accept foreign ambassador and also there is underground bunker.

Then..... Kok Hong and I walked around and came across pinky gals...

In Vietnam, it is very common to see beautiful girl driving motorbike.... but in Malaysia... you can hardly see one....

I also dropped by to visit the below building which I soon realise that it is actually their post office. There are tourists buying some nice postcards and stems.

END of day 1.

Day 2 : Half Day at Cu Chi Tunnel - (Vietnamese people pronouns it as Gucci Tunnel)
The tunnel was the stronghold of Vietnamese soldier against US army. Those tunnels are awesome and they able to support weight of tanks.
Morning - went to Cu Chi Tunnel and here are the pics :D

At Chu Chi, visitor can buy bullets (10 bullets) to shoot. Price of bullets different from Ak47 till M16.

Then, I came across a girl making rice paper.

Tour at Cu Chi basically end fast. Just whole morning including transportation. cost 8USD from Sinh Tourist (Sinh Cafe)

On the way returning to HCM, bus drop by at Art Centre for disable.

Bought 1kg Weasel Coffee and another kg of Highland Coffee from this aunt :D

She speak Cantonese and is Guang Dong people. There are China Town but I didnt have time to visit that :(

Time 7.40-I am inside a Sleeping bus to Mui Ne.

Day 3:
Morning started with a breath taking view of Mui Ne Fisherman's Boat at fishing village.

No doubts when a person see so many fishing boats around, he will be thinking of sea food. Indeed... there's lots lots lots of people selling sea food at Mui Ne... Mostly are shells and is cheap... but ask the price 1st before eating...

Continue the journey to the Famous Mui Ne white sand dune, yellow sand dune, and Red canyon.

and then the Famous White Sand Dune..... looks like dessert.... the place were windy but the sand was very soft.

And the screwing parts were being cheated to Phan Thiet by local guide (motorcycles)

Nothing in Phan Thiet. Don't ever take motor to Phan Thiet. Total waste of time and money.

The reclining Buddha is the only attraction. (Maintained very well)

There were ancient temple located between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. There are many ancient temple across Vietnam. Only few are special and worth visiting. For example My Son one of the ancient temple.

Half day at Mui Ne and took many pics...

Took bus to Nha Thrang from Mui Ne.

Reach Nha Thrang at night. Terrible speed limit of 60km/h, that's why the bus journey always painful and long. haha...

Spend the beautiful sunset moment inside the bus.

Night reach Nha Thrang, - settle accomodation and then rent a bike for VND 30.000 for 6 hour and VND 20.000 for 1 litre gasoline.

had an adventurous night riding with a city with lots of motorcycles.

I miss the beach very much..... why??? because there were so many people dating along the beach......

a bit dissapointment with this because I done before Abseiling and infact many times already.... The reason that I want to go there is to enjoy the rocky surface of Batu Caves.
So how ? and what is my experience ?

There I saw a lot of enthusiastist of rock climber.... They all are very good. I admire them personally.. In my opinion, it is fun to hang out during weekend doing rock climbing...
I dont know that Malaysia has so many climbers until I witness it myself :D

Wira Damai is difficult to go but lucky I got Hand phone Garmin GPS... Garmin GPS is really good... but certainly with a price to pay off.. ^^

I think the climbing area is opposite site of Batu Caves Temple. The obvious part is you can see the Batu from Far.

I am doing Belaying. I am not good at Belay.... but at least at the end of the day I mastered 5 steps simple Belay. Thanks to Mr. Lan that taught me how. This method is 9999999 % much more easier and better than the method that Mr. Ho taught me yesterday ~_~

In fact, abseiling also using the similar method and I just knew it because I did many times abseiling already.

Learned how to belay properly and next is my turn to climb. Climbing is much more easier to me than belay ~_~... because when climbing, everyone will be looking at you.

An Advance Climber doing self-Abseiling. He climbed very high.... I can feel the fright just by looking at how high he climbed and now he coming down...

Now, it's my turn to do Abseiling. Another safer method from Mr. Ho... which used 2 hands to hold the safety rope. But personally I still prefer to hold hands on different ropes because it will enable me to control my directions and movement much better.

Wall Climb Introduction Course at Putra Jaya

I went for a Wall Climbing at Putra Jaya extreme park on 12 Dec 2009. On the next day 13 Dec 2009, I also went to the rock climbing at Batu Caves. That 2 were introduction course to basic rock climbing. Organized by Kaynis via Malaysian Outdoor Trekking Hiking Scuba (MOTHS).

I learned some Basic Climbing skills and basic belay skills. taught by Mr. Ho Chi Wah (from Kinabalu Climbing School)

wall Climb was RM90 and the Rock Climb was RM190.. zzz I also feel a bit expensive for students ... what to do.. I want to step into that rock climbing field but I know no one. But after that.. I roughly have some basic knowledge regarding that.. I am now considering to take advance rock climbing. Looking for some people who can teach me properly. yeah ! but provided that it is Cheap ~ or else I think I will just forget it... becoz I know the equipments are not cheap also.

here, I will talk about the Wall Climbing at Putra Jaya
Putra Jaya Extreme Wall Climbing is actually free but they charge RM30 per head if organizing a course there.
Temporary Putra Jaya extreme park is free until 15 Jan 2010 where they will charge RM6 per head. Then there are some equipment rental fees if do not have any equipments. Here is their website : http://www.putraclimb.com/

Putra Jaya extreme wall climb looks nice... It seems to be quite new... and there are lots of wall to climbs... and a lot of hang over... ( places where the wall coming out )

Conclusion : Climbing is considered a safe sport provided that all equipments were in good condition and proper safety precautions were used. Chances of injury from climbing will be very small if everything was followed... Either it will be serious injuries or no injuries...

Hidden Attraction in Seremban A&W

Last saturday ( 5 Dec09 ), I was asleep till 12 midnight because lack of sleep and after Broga Hills. Woke up with hungry stomach and get my late dinner..Later, we all went to A&W Seremban to watch some racing ~

There were road show by some Malay Car enthusiastic. They are showing their Daihatsu modfied Mira Car at there.

Perodua and Daihatsu was actually more or less the same.. Just location difference..
Kancil same with Mira but Kancil was made in Malaysia while Mira was made in Japan.
Same goes some other Perodua car ~

As usual, there are always minor accident at Seremban Town on Saturday 2-3am ~_~

Broga Hills 5th Dec 09 , Semenyih Kajang

My first time climb Broga Hills with only Garmin GPS assistance ~_~

I decided to climb Broga Hills at night but afraid of robbery... then plan postponed to early morning at 4.30am... and ended up of waking up late ~_~ hahaha .. so .. depart at around 6 and reach there at 7am...through the Lekas Highway from Mantin, N9... It is pretty obvious to find the trek for Broga Hills, basically you just need to follow the trek and there are some junction... just ignore those junction and take which ever junction that you like because it will eventually lead you to the peak of the hill. .if you afraid lost, then take which ever trek that appear to be more obvious to you.

*all the trek should be ascending and not descending, if you are descending and not ascending then you might be in wrong trek*

alternatively.. you can use GPS as there are ready route for Broga Hill... (Garmin GPS map)

Direction to the Broga Hills, Semenyih,
Broga Hills is situated nearby Nottingham University. the entrance will be at the Palm OIL estate. If you go on weekend, around morning 6-7pm, you will see a lot of car parked beside the road. That is the place.

Check google map or garmin map. I think the map will explain betta than me.

Broga Hill is very famous among the local... a lot of people including elders and children always visit Broga Hill.

Delicate Dinner at BEI ZHAN Restaurant

After watching the SMM Dota Tournament at AFamosa Melaka, my friend Alex Gan bring me to BEI ZHAN restaurant for dinner.

The moment I enter the restaurant, I felt that this is certainly not a place of mine. The restaurant was so beautiful until I have to think how expensive the food going to be. Amazingly, it was reasonable and extra-ordinary delicious.

I really have to thanks my friend ( Kenneth Tan the Food Specialist) in recommending such a fine place)

The guy wearing spec and was ordering food was Kenneth Tan. He is really expert in food and know a lot of uniquely delicious restaurant in Melaka.

We are waiting for food. In the pics (from left) Wong Yuen Loong wearing spec (my ex-classmate form5), Alex Gan (The Legend) , Lex (The Handsome 1), and Me myself (holding fork and spoon unpatiently waiting for food)....

This is what people called "Soft Crab". This is the first time I eat this type of crab. Heard from friends that many Japanese restaurant have such crabs. It was crispy and can be eaten just like that without peeling off the crab shell.

Vegetable is one of the common dishes in Chinese culture as to balance the meat. Anyway, it is taste 100 times better than my Uni Cafe Food ! Not to say that I am racist and dislike Malay food.. but the Uni food was really terrible..

SMM Dota Tournament @ AFamosa Melaka

My friend Alex Gan bring me to watch the SMM Dota Semi Final Tournament held at Cowboy Town Afamosa Melaka. We went on 28 Nov 2009, the competition held for 3 days (Friday 27Nov until Sunday 29Nov).

This was my first time watching live Grand Dota Competition. MYM team was invited to participate in this competition. Not to forget, there are PokerIdol and some international team (there are teams from China as well).. but mostly are Malaysian Team.

Among many many teams, I only remembered MYM because that team was famous. I finally see actual MYM player.

They were playing Poker card ~_~ They look Handsome and Cool^^

I am really envy them... Some are even younger than me..

This certainly caught my attention. There are 2 team of girls participate in this competition. I only manage to take photo of this team. They were from Singapore and they were GIRLS !! Girls playing dota and participating in competition. Pretty and Hot girls.... haha .. as usual... un-avoidable .... vulgar and dirty words are usual... you get what I meant.... haha.. means those girls speak those words also ... My friend heard the girls scold Ci-baI (equivalent as Pussy in Chinese) and shit ~_~.

No doubts, gamer girls are pretty... and here is one of the nice shot ~~

The SMM GRAND NATIONAL DOTA TOURNAMENT FINAL banner.

The 2 awesome MC. Their mouth never stopped and could speak continuous for 70minutes. They were like Football MC..... reporting every move... and trying to tense up the situation... No doubts, they were the people who cheers up the environment.

Here goes the (MeetYourMakers) MYM team playing :

MYM won the match and Here is them preparing to play for the next round against FTZ.

Supporter of FTZ team. Many people sat down even before the game started. The places was crowded with Dota enthusiasts. I was one of them too...

Supporter of MYM team.... Seriously I also supporter of MYM.. but I do not want them to win... don't know why.... may be because they win too much d... and sometime it was human nature to get boring and want to see something different.... MYM really put up a GOOD fight against FTZ... Their match was superb.. full of actions and VIOLENCES !!

MYM and FTZ really put up a good show. That was really an interesting game. (you need to be dota player to understand the beauty of their technique and skills) It is really AMAZING !!

What Can I say ? It was same like watching a LIVE football GAME ... where you can see the player emotion and their passion in the game. It is totally different watching a replay.

This 1 is after the game..... where MYM lost to the FTZ team. FTZ team straight get recognition in beating a famous and strong team. In the pics, you can see some girls posing to take pics. Many people left after that match. However, after that FTZ lost. Even the famous team KS and CyberTime did not make it up to Final round. My friend told me that Final won by China Team. Google it to check the result.... haha.. I no longer actively participate in Dota because I do not see any long term benefit other than wasting my money and time.

Did not went for the Final.... (29 Nov 09) because not worth wasting time there. As I have already witness how was A GRAND DOTA tournament like. Conclusion, it really worth going to such places if never been before... once a while still okay :P

23-25 Oct 2009, Mount Irau Cleaning Expedition

This is my Irau Cleaning Expedition Trip. Climbing Irau is easy and enjoyable as you can see a lot of beautiful tree covered with moss. However, Irau Peak was one of the dirties campsite because of its popularity and no water point. The objective is to bring down some rubbish from the campsite.

ALL THE PICS were taken using my camera phone N79. I never expect pics quality would be good. It satisfy me and enough for me to record my trip. :D

I just returned back from the cleaning expedition organized by UTP Kelab Kembara (Adventure Club of Universiti Teknologi Petronas ) .

Throughout the TRIP, I taken some nice photo and video. However, I still love my previous expedition in January where the path way was more natural and beautiful.

Border line stone (separating Perak and Pahang ) almost covered with Moss >>border line stone is an important landmark because border line stone make up the trail to Mount Irau.

24 Oct 2009 Saturday around 1-2pm, reach the peak of Gunung Irau. (along the trek, there were border stone and some yellow bandage as the landmark) - phone has full coverage.

Cleaning and picking up rubbish officially start.

24 Oct 2009 Saturday around 2-3.30pm, cleaning started. Everyone started to pick up rubbish around the campsite.

Mount Irau Peak Campsite was dirty because there were no water points along the trek. So, climber must carry their own water. Rubbish generated when those climbers decided not to bring down their rubbish and took the easy solution by just throwing it.
Some people said that " there is nothing betta stuff to do than picking up people's rubbish " .. haha ... Even though we did not pick up all the rubbish, but we did collected a lot of rubbish. (there is too much rubbish ) . It will certainly help in preserving nature.

I brought up my empty bag along so that I can use it to carry rubbish. Others all have to carry rubbish by their hands :P , Situation complicated when the rubbish bag tear off when trekking down.

25 Oct 2009 Sunday 7pm, I had a morning walk to the Gunung Brinchang(1.5km) to see sunrise. can see as I am too late.. the ideal time to see sunrise is around 5-6am.... when there were little mist and cloud.

25 Oct 2009 Sunday around 12.30pm, walk to the nearest bus stop... and it stated to rain cats and dogs ( AGAIN RAINING) walked around 30min - 1hour.... Everyone was wet also. I am shivering of COLDNESS. hahahahahaha

Kembara Induction Camp July 2009

I was away 3days for the Kembara induction camp.(2,3,4 Oct 09)
Tat camp pretty fun and relax.
There's a lot senior that purposely come to this camp :D
Some senior are funny.... infact... all of them are funny and good at creating jokes. They all are really Unique !

I did try the abseiling, it was the same with normal abseiling and the extra were just water were crushing on you and the stone more slippery.

There are Caving, Treasure hunt, and Owling on second day but I did not join :D

Experience Via Ferrata at Mount Kinabalu

This is my first Mount Kinabalu via Ferrata Experience. Ferrata means Iron road and it was initially build to ease the movement of soldier during world war 1. Europe has the most number of Ferrata route but Kinabalu's Ferrata was the highest in the world. In this post, you can see a lot of pics starting from bottom (Pondok Timpohan) till the peak of Mount Kinabalu including the Ferrata route. (Low's Peak Circuit).

tips- on apparels.
1 wind breaker or water proof clothes, 1 coat,1 polyester t-shirt, 1 tights, 2 track bottom, 2 stocking, snow cap, gloves.

I climbed Mount Kinabalu during my last semester holiday :D
I went there with my best friend : Lew Chun Wai

We booked the expedition last minutes (around 1-2weeks). "Via Ferrata" It is not the normal one because the normal one is fully booked. (RM1200 per person)
The normal one requires 6months advance booking.
Here is some of the great experience :D

The NOTICE - before climbing :

The journey now begins :)
The Pondok Timpohan. First Check Point.

We start hiking to Laban Rata at around 9am.

Below pic shows a note at Pondok Kandis, the first shelter after Pondok Timpohan. "Pondok" means "shelter" in Malay Language.

Estimated that every 0.5km -1km, there is at least one shelter. Every shelter has toilet and water tank. (untreated water)
No need to worry about toilet, Mt. Kinabalu provide a toilet every 500-1000m. Normally, people shit and pee inside bushes when climbing.... but this time pee in toilet :D and no longer in the wilderness.

The so called untreated water is not safe to be drink, if we think logically. However, I think it should be no problems to drink untreated water. Just make sure that the water is clean (white in color). The reasons why the authority put the sign untreated water is to tell that "DRINK AT UR OWN RISK!"

Climbing Mt. Kinabalu is not as hard as you think. it's just bout climbing stairs

This is me myself.

Throughout the journey, there are many porters carry stuff.
Porters are from nearby area. Most of them are ethnics.
This one carry Tong Gas ~~~ around 40kg :P
They will earn around RM2.50 for each KG they carry to Laban Rata.
There are also young porters but I couldnot manage to take photo of them.
The young porters don't carry much weight as they just beginneer. Most probably they are earning part-time money.

We met friends from our hometown (Negeri Sembilan). They are senior citizen but still actively climbing.Me and my friend Chun Wai.

Reaching high, you will notice something different in ur surronding.
The path way no longer is soil but more to stone and granite. The folliage no longer a tall tree but just moderate size green tree with thick leaves. ( pokok renek )

The house. I think it is a gathering place for Porters and also a place to store some stuff.
May be for emergency use.6.0 KM to reach Laban Rata, and now we are at 5.0KM. Means that there is another KM to go.. Damn happy..

At Laban Rata, we can see some Via Ferrata participants. It is " Walk the Torq" seems difficult and challanging :)

Briefing about Via Ferrata. How to use the equipments properly.

There is a strict rule on VIA FERRATA. You need to reach the summit Mt. Kinabalu before 6.30am and reach the Via Ferrata starting point before 7.30am. Else, you will be left behind and there's no VIA FERRATA for you. (FORFEIT)

In other words, Via Ferrata is for people who are fit because you need to reach there latest by 7.30am. This is due to the safety purpose as the rocky surface is very slipperly when raining.
During the time I went to Kinabalu ( June), the weather trend was sunny in the morning and then rain in the afternoon (Continously for many days). On the first day, it rain at around 12pm.... I ended up wet upon reaching Laban Rata :)

Below is inside Laban Rata. We dine at there. It is Buffet style. A lot of FOODS !! and all the FOODS are damn NICE !!!There's lot of people inside Laban Rata.

There are public phones inside the LABAN RATA HUT.

I slept at 6.30pm and then wake up at 2.00am.
The journey start at 2.30 am.
It takes me approximately 3 hours to reach top. Distance from Laban Rata to Peak is 2.5km.
I did a rambo stuff... I left my friend Chun Wai behind because he is slow. At first, I was waiting for him... as I waited long... I decided to continue my journey.
I taught I am far behind of my schedule.... thinking that I need to reach summit before 6.30am.....

I walked alone.. but luckily there is a rope guiding my way. If not, I must have lost.

I met Seremban Uncle along my solo journey. But later, I found that I could not go along with their speed because I am tired. Imagine you being blocked by a people till you left behind and then you are chasing till the front line. I am exhausted.

Later I found out that I was early... if I decided to continue my pace. I will be reaching summit at around 4-5am.... So...what I did is.. I rest more along the last few meter.
Enjoying the Starry night...
At Mt. Kinabalu, I enjoyed the most beautiful night. The sky was full with STARS. The sky was clear and filled with a lot of diamonds.
Reaching the summit too early is not a good idea because it is cold and will get colder if you did not move around.

I finally reach the summit at around 5am. Not much people at there.. 2 Germany guy, 2 Seremban Uncle and 2 Guider.
That time was Dark. I could hardly see my surrounding. Luckily there was a safety rope that prevent falling down.

There is a metal box at the summit, I dunno what is the purpose, but I just take the picture :D

The rock on the right showed a gorilla face. It is called Gorilla Peak.
Upon reaching 6am-7pm..... there's more people reaching the summit.

There are really a lot people climbing Mt. Kinabalu. You can see the crowd come and go.

My Leg was trembeling until I walked very fast until pulling Chun Wai.... I wonder why Chun Wai walk very slow, since he told me that he is not afraid :D
Via Ferrata took my time around 4hours. but I believe if everyone is fit for it... It just took around 1 hour to 2 hour to complete it . It because each person was tied to another person. As a result, nobody leaves nobody.

Chun Wai seems to be exhausted and it's clear that he did not prepared for Mt. Kinabalu. Anyway, he still did a great JOB !

Below are some landmarks along the route to Mt.Kinabalu. I taken those photos so that I could remember what to Look for when Climbing Mount Kinabalu.

Mt. Kinabalu not hard.. I just rate it normal even though it was categorized as GRED A mountain in Malaysia. There are much harder mountains in Malaysia.

Sometime, if you walk alone, you could see some beautiful birds. I manage to capture the picture of the birds. (see below)

Top 2 pictures show the Mesilau - Timpohan Junction. Mesilau trail is less common and 2km longer. The Timpohan trail is the one that I went. However, on Jan2010... I will go to Mount Kinabalu again by using Mesilau Trail which is more quiet and has more wonderful scenery.

The journey decending took me 2 hours while my friend take 4-5hours to reach...
Walking alone is terrible but walking in the darkness even worse.
When I was walking alone, sometime I heard some sound and sometime I will be thinking of other things... it's very scare. However, it still a great experience to me.

Climbing certainly test a relationship. I saw an Indian Family where as the Father left his family behind with the guider and walked alone same like me myself left Chun Wai behind .... I guess that not much people would wait for people that delaying you.

However, it is my trend not to wait people because I don't like to walk in the dark in Jungle ! unless if I have no choices.

Luckily, the tour guide was together with Chun Wai.
Later in the evening. the rain came and send regards to Chun Wai :D............... zzzZZ
haiz... but anyway... Chun Wai still able to make it.. he have very strong mentalilty.

I reach the Timpohan at 4.30am... but too late... The Timpohan Corner close at around 3pm :D

Over a thousand species of orchids grow in Kinabalu Park. They display a variety of life styles. You can see some growing on the surrounding tress. Others sprout from the ground.

Over 26 species of Rhododendron trees grow in the Park. Their bright red, orange, or yellow blossoms are common sights as you climb.

I have a nice camera and that camera size were just nice to bring for expedition and vacation.
Mount Kinabalu is worth going place and it has the WORLD HIGHEST VIA FERRATA.
The via Ferrata Asia is handled by Mountain Torq.

A day at gym

A day at gym on 14/9/09, I am actually underweight boy... height around 1.77 m while weight just around 57kg. Good news, I grew much muscular and now weighted 59kg. (updated 2 Dec09)
( been hiking too much and average each hiking made me to lose 1-2kg and I have to gain back my weight by eating more)

I know what you all think.... This is NOT ME.... he is my friend, Zeuxiant Akom.... we both used to go to gym together on each Wednesday and Friday.

I hoping to gain some weight by going gym lo...
Average eating is 5-6 times. I try to eat the best possible balance diet available in UTP.

I have done some research on gaining weight. Among those is to maintain normal eating habit but adding the frequency of eating since eat more at a time will cause stomach to expand more and eventually cause discomfort.
Another is to eat balanced meals. Balanced meals means variety in meals .
For example :

breakfast - milk and peanut butter bread.
lunch - chicken, rice , vegetable
teatime - coffee and biscuit
dinner - beef, rice, other type of vege
supper - milo/ chocolate drink, + tuna bread

Variety in meals means not to repeat the same food again.. but at the same time, the meals must be balanced ( having vegetable/fruits & meat & grain)

I taken a pic of me and hopefully after few months, I will get bigger a bit :) haha

At first, I taught being skinny cannot go gym... but it doesn't matter whether you are fat or skinny. All the people at gym are too busy building their muscle. They won't bother to look at you! So, don't care about other people.. just do your own stuff ~.~

A chest workout, Pushup Bar- If I not mistaken ... to train ur chest muscle.. Making it bigger so that ur breast could match with Leng Lui breast. Hahaha :)

A good leg workout. Making my leg stronger so that I will be more prepared for Hiking.

Gym could be a place to meet some new friends. I met a friend from Africa at 4 Sept 09. He were MUSCULAR. He is doing master in Geoscience at UTP. He taught me the proper way to do gym and how to do. To build up muscle, we need to do workout correctly. Correct workout will produce the best result in shortest time. Beginner like me need to start with bar 1st before dumbbell. Bar will help you to get use to the weight and help to make your body straight while doing workout. The African further added that one should not overdo and must allowed muscle to build up (to have enough rest). Or else..... muscle will become smaller instead growing bigger.

According to the African, dumb bell is for fine tuning muscle. This means that you must have muscle only suitable for dumb bell.

Besides, the African told me that I need to have a target and count how many times. Decide a number of set that you going to do. Each set will be how many times you do. In between set, rest is allowed, while in a set, rest is not advisable.

Eg : 4 set to be done and each set must be 10 times.
means doing 10 times and then rest for few minutes ( to relax muscle) before continuing for another 3 sets. .

1.......2........ 3......... and PULL HARDand ... don't forget to drink more WATER ! water is the best liquid in the world !
For some reasons, UTP does not allow different genders to be in gym. Females are allowed to go to gym on Tuesday and Thursday.

Whereas, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is for males.

However, no body is going to check on the gym. That means females and males can go to gym whenever they like.
Perhaps the supervisor of the gym is an understanding person. Just the UTP management give the order or create rules that females and males cannot be together.

The UTP gym is open on Mon- Friday and closed on Weekends and Public Holiday.

UTP gym does not have much equipment but it is sufficient to build nice body. I noticed one of the gym equipment spoiled and it havent repaired for weeks (more than 3 weeks).

To enter the Gym, student required to bring their matrix card and to sign the attendance book. However, I seldom sign the attendance book. Very few obey because most of the users did not notice about it, and they just walked pass the attendance book that seems to be insignificantly beside the entrance.

The gym opened at 8am till 10pm. But sometime..... it open a bit late.... and close a bit late... because I been to there (last semester) at around 12 midnight and yet it still open.... just around 1am.. a guy come in and requested me to leave because he wan to close the gym . I think he is the guy that manage the gym. He is a nice guy :)

Arthur's Day in Malaysia 25th Sept 09

Yesterday I went to the Arthur's Day held at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach :P
Bought the ticket on 21st Sept 09 at Parkson, Sunway Piramid.

Sunway Piramid, Lagoon, and Hotel are all inter-connected :P

It has been awhile since I go to Sunway Piramid... I found that the management actually placed sensor above parking places where the sensor will detect whether got object below it o not :P
Then, the bulb on top the parking will emit green if there is no car below the sensor or red if there is object below.

I bought a ticket for Rm103.... there is 10% discount if I buy it earlier 2 weeks. However, i only can make it few days before because I were not at my hometown, Seremban.

Date- Early October,
As I said, I tried to improve :D since a lot of things I been failing behind....
As in previous post, I tried to read the novel... and my current progress were on page 43... starting to enjoy the novel....
However, I could not concentrate on reading it and I will leave it for my free time :D
There were some difficulties I faced.....

There's too much Character name and sometime I forgot who are they :D ..... think around 5-10 character... some were temporary characters :D... main characters were only 3-5 ... haha May be I still a beginner ...

I love reading it while listening to music :D

Yesterday I just went gym with my friend and course mate Chee Sheng :D

He taught me a lot of new things :D

Number in first set must be higher than second set and so on.... and there must be an incremental of loads from set 1 to set 2... There must be someone to help you to carry heavier load so that you muscle will grow bigger and not to stuck with just a limited loads. (sometime you need little bit more energy to carry higher load... therefore someone must help you to archive it and then ur muscle will eventually build and grow bigger )

No doubts that working out or so called "doing gym " has a lot of things to be learned.

Exhale when using up energy and inhaled while resting :D

That seems to be a basic of doing gym while I just noticed when I heard some parts of the conversation of others ... It was Indonesia people talking with each other.... (more like a Pro body builder talking with beginner) haha.. As usual... just give a ear and learn

When writing this post, I figured out that ....it is not vice to simply ask other for favor without knowing a person political stand or behavior... This because some Indonesians are prejudice against Malaysian and Chinese... so Betta be careful not to step on others tails :D

Did not did well in all those Subjects During Test 1.

Nothing big because it's a joy to study and do assignment. Why I said so ? Because sometime I used to complain about homework & study ..... AND when I was in holiday ... I start to complain about being too free and no need to study :::: haha
By the way, if I don't study... then how would I able to know more things and understand better ? and what alternative I have other than study? It's sound desperate but I would say I have many alternative. There's always alternative and always try to make urself to have another alternative so that you will be prepared when worst case scenario happened :D - example : not doing well in study ( make simple - U FAILED ) haha

I hope for a better future jobs that will be as challenging as climbing Everest and able to serve the communities :D

I not going to live my life as a pussy doing safe and dull office job . I seek for challenge and satisfaction !

and not to forget a Swimming Class during holiday :D .. I want to improve my swimming in order to be fit for Scuba Diving (to get an official diver License) :D

By the way, I am regret to inform you all that I did not check my grammars and english .. because 2 reasons : I am SUCK at my English - (I trying to improve already)

Second reason is I am lazy and I think there is no need as long I able to communicate and tell other people about my ideas strongly :P

By the way, I could not afford to consistently update my blog.. I will update whenever there is a new stuff or experience that I would like to share :D

Weird dream but I love it, just to share... 12 October 2009

had a weird dream last night ( I was awaken by 4 alarms at 7.00,7.10, 7.20, 7.30am but continue to sleep then dream of), - were on trip on cruising the river by swimming and then picked up by a raft, then they bring me to an abandon house where I eventually climbed in through the black metal gate.

All the area that I was cruising was flooded with water. There were crocodile. The area was abandon but amazingly the house was well preserved. I went into the house together with others but only one of them followed me. I amazed by the structured of the house, it was the old English house where consist of 2 storey. All furniture well preserved and then I went further up to see. I discover a baby bed upon reaching top and then there is 2 rooms. Just above the baby bed, there is 2 portraits. One seems to be an owner of the house with little hair and a lot mustache together with beard. Another seems to be a Chinese English young girl pic and she was smiling. I only went into the one room and then saw another girl pic. She look similar with the young girl pic and she seems to be a full grown adult version of the young girl and she was pretty. It must be her room. Then the guy that following me told me " let's check up the surrounding.... " and then I went down and noticed there's alot of people and all of them wearing formal attire just like English people. Everyone busy talking and looking around. Me and the guy then went behind of the house and found that there's a big and beautiful city lies. Then... suddenly someone from the crowd told me that it is time to leave or you will be late or left behind.......

I ignored the messages and continue to look around because the structure of the house were so beautiful and ancient. Then, the guy told me it's really time to go.... then I climbed up the gate and discover that all people left me there and I have to swim back or.... and that's the time I wake up from my dream and found that the time show 7.59am. It was late for my class at 8am.. I tried to rush but failed.. it's too late...already time.... I did not go to the class.. However, I still happy because I feel like the dream was too beautiful to be remembered. The girl appeared in the pic of the dream seems to be my dream girl :D
