This Aurora 88 has a serial number of 1686048 which is very near the end of the run and would date it to 1953, the year the 88 was replaced by the 88K. It features a celluloid barrel with an ebonite section and piston knob that are still very black and not discolored like many other ebonite pieces are. This particular pen features a chrome cap in excellent condition. There are no dings or dents and the plating is free of wear or pitting. As seen in the image above, the cap does have an imprint of “<CEAT>” below the clip. To the left of the imprint is a scratch that comes and goes depending on the light. The clip and crown of the cap in are in superb condition, which is unusual for a vintage 88.

The barrel where the section screws into is free of cracks and the original piston seals have been replaced with two modern o-rings. The seal is tight and the piston operates smoothly. The ink window has been stained but is still very clear.  The medium stub nib has some very nice flex to it and is an absolute joy to use. This Aurora 88 has a serial number of 1106141 which would date it to approximately late 1952 or early 1953. It features a celluloid barrel with an ebonite section and piston knob that are still very black and not discolored like many other ebonite pieces are. This particular pen features a gold filled cap with a barely noticeable ding opposite the clip that measure 2mm in length. There is some light wear on the crown of the cap, which is very common  on these pens, and some minor brassing around the cap lip. There are two small spots on the side of the cap that show some brassing as well. Please refer to the additional pictures for more details. The clip, however, is in very good condition.

The “Aurora 88″ and serial number imprint in the section are crisp and clean with the serial number being a little lighter than I’ve seen in other pens, but still very readable. The barrel where the section screws into is free of cracks and the original piston seal is in great condition. I’ve filled the pen with both ink and water and it fills full with no leaks. The ink window has some ambering but retains good clarity. This pen comes straight from Italy in the correct blue colored aluminum case signifying a 88 with a gold cap. The case is in very good condition, free of any dings or dents but with some slight wear along a few of the edges. Included inside the case is an original instruction manual, unfortunately the serial number does not match that of the pen. The fine flex nib is a joy to use, but you’ll go through a lot of ink as it gets pretty wet and wild when pushed to its limit. $235 SOLD

This Aurora 88 has a low serial number of 306947 which would date it to approximately 1948-49. It features a celluloid barrel with an ebonite section and piston knob that are still very black and not discolored like many other ebonite pieces are. This particular pen features a Nikargenta cap, which is a nickel-silver plating combining the beauty of silver and corrosion resistance of nickel. Nikargenta was Aurora’s most expensive option when originally released and this cap is free of any dings or dents. The Nikargenta imprint on the back side of the cap is light but readable. There is some light wear on the crown of the cap and some corrosion around the cap lip. There are some imperfections in the plating on the cap that run along the clip. The clip, however, is in very good condition.

The barrel where the section screws into is free of cracks and the original piston seal is in great condition. I’ve filled the pen with both ink and water and it fills full with no leaks. This uncommon case is in excellent condition, free of dings or dents with original stickers still intact. This is one of the lowest numbered 88′s that I’ve seen. This Q4 1942 Junior Vacumatic has a slight variation of the Jeweler’s Band commonly known as the ‘stacked coin’ capband. This capband was also used on other Junior sized pens such as the Shadow Wave and Vacufold in 1942. Pens with these capbands were not advertised in Parker catalogs and were only available through jewerley stores which makes them less common than your standard Junior Vac. This pen is in excellent condition with wonderful clarity and a crisp barrel imprint. I have restored it so it works like new. The moderate flow of the smooth, fine nib provides a satisfying writing experience.  $165

The Namiki branded Capless, a.k.a. Vanishing Point, fountain pen was released in 1994 and retired in 1999. The 3 examples I have for sale are all Namiki branded, which in my experience are of a higher quality than the Pilot branded faceted Capless pens. These 3 fountain pens feature a retractible nib, light weight body, and a smooth transition from clip to section. These faceted Vanishing Points are some of the most comfortable pens I’ve ever used.

Q2 of 1941 Silver Pearl Parker Vacumatic with jeweler’s band.  This pen features a generous Fine nib bordering on a medium. The filling system along with the rest of the pen has been restored and works perfectly. There is some wear on the clip and the plating on the cap band and end jewel ring has been completely removed, but not by me. I acquired the pen in this condition. $175

For sale is a Canadian, transparent silver Parker Vacumatic Junior (127mm) made in Q1 of 1939. The chrome trim is in excellent condition as well as are the jewels. The lock-down vac filler has been restored and works perfectly. There is a slight bit of clarity left in the barrel if held up to a light. But the real treat to this pen is the factory broad oblique 14k gold nib with a hint of flex. $250 $215

Q1 1948 India Black Vac. This pen has been restored which means the diaphragm has been replaced, the gold hardware has been cleaned to bring back its’ original luster, and the entire pen has been polished. Meticulous care has been taken to make sure the blind cap is properly aligned with the barrel to create a smooth, seamless transition. The first line of the imprint under the clutch ring is barely readable but the second line and date code are very easy to read. The clutch ring has 3 small spots where pitting has occured. The clip is in good condition with some brassing along the edge between the arrowhead and feathers. The cap is in very good condition with no dents or dings and only small surface scratches. The XF/F nib writes nicely unlike many of the finer nib points that tend to be scratchy and unpleasant.
