Once upon a time, I wanted to be a writer.

Once upon a time, I wanted to be a chef and restaurateur.

Once upon a time, I wanted to be a doctor, a dancer, a stock broker, a CFO, an entrepreneur, a boss, a healthy, fit, slender woman.

Seriously, I wanted to be all of those things. I was even very passionate about some of them. And some of them have even been realized. Others fell by the wayside of childhood dreams. (Specifically, the doctor and the stock broker. What can I say? I was a… quirky kid.)

Recently, I’ve decided I want more. But every time I figure out what I think “more” means, I lose interest. Why? Probably because whatever the more du jour is, it isn’t something about which I’m passionate. So the question is: What are my passions? What do I really, really, really enjoy doing? And so this blog was born. To discover new passions, and rediscover old ones, and maybe, just maybe help someone else figure out her own passion.

Where to start? Food. Cooking. Making delicious foods from whole, natural ingredients that make my friends say, “Mmm, this is delicious. Come be my personal chef!” Or, at least that first part. Why start with cooking? Two reasons. First, I found that healthy, fit, slender woman inside me. She stuck around for 2 years before taking cover under a new layer (or two) of fat and apathy. But she’s still in there, yelling “Cut the crap and let me back out!” Who am I to deny her request? Also, because I just rediscovered how much I enjoy selecting delicious ingredients, mixing them together, and creating a delectable finished product that puts smiles on faces. It wasn’t my intention to start a food blog, but don’t be surprised to see recipe reviews, or even original recipes, gracing these pages. What else will you find here? I guess we’ll both find out soon enough!
