It’s been almost 9 months since I have updated this blog and I’m pretty sure no one cares about it, but I thought I would give a little update.

First, baby #4 was born 3.5 months ago and it definitely has been a rough 3 months. She is most high needs baby as she has acid reflux and hates to be put down. But, things are getting slightly better and I’m hoping in another 2-3 months things will get a whole lot better.

Now, to the work part…

Late last summer I decided that I was going to try to cash in with the success that people were having with Squidoo. So, from September until December I solely worked on publishing Squidoo lenses. My Christmas earnings were pretty good for the amount of work I put in and figuring that my lenses weren’t even aged.

In 2013 I have added a few more Squidoo lenses and had to work on cleaning some of them up after latest Squidoo scan for spam and low quality content. Right now I am sitting at around 140 lenses. They are making several hundred dollars a month right now.

That being said I have neglected most of my sites. I haven’t really been able to work since the baby was born in early January. I have been working on one of my main sites and trying to do some social stuff with it and slowly adding the content I want to get posted.

I have several ideas for new sites that I am trying to get set up in the next month. I also want to get back to 2 other sites and start working on them more as well.

So, this means I haven’t given up and I am still earning money online, BUT I am not earning the kind of money I want to be earning.

Due to some personal things I really need to be making a full time income online. I don’t want to have to worry about money and being able to afford all of our bills if something was to happen.

So, I am starting my own personal challenge to make a full time income online within a year. Some people may laugh at that because a year is sort of a long time, but considering I got 4 little ones at home and very limited hours to work right now I think a year is a good amount of time.

I do plan on documenting this challenge and writing about things I learn and new tips and such, but I don’t know if I want to keep this site or start a new one. Passive Income Goals does still receive some traffic and is nice because it has been around for quite a few years, but I don’t like the name anymore.

So, I am still working out the details and will most likely start the challenge in May or June depending on how much work I can get in the next few weeks.

If I do start a new site for this journey I will definitely post it here for anyone who wants to follow me on the next year to a full time income.

Hope everyone else is still chugging along and busy making money!

I can’t believe that it has already been almost 3 months since I last posted here. If anyone is still around, yes, I am still alive.

I’ve actually noticed that over the past few months a lot of fellow bloggers and IMers that were familiar to me have gone MIA as well. I’m sure some of them are busy spending time with their families this summer but I have a feeling that some of them have also sort of given up after the whole Penguin/Panda thing or have moved onto other things.

Although my sites did get hit with the algorithm update, but that is not the main reason why I haven’t been working so much. The main reason is that I am absolutely exhausted with 3 little ones running around and will be welcoming another little one hopefully at the end of the year!

Yes, I am that crazy woman that will have 4 kids that are 5 years and younger. But, I wouldn’t trade it for a thing and I am so blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and take the time off from working when I need to.

Back to Work

After taking off the past 3 or so months from really doing any work (I couldn’t keep my eyes open past 10pm for the first 12 weeks) I have been trying to get back into the swing of things now. After taking that time off and the whole algo updates I sort of feel like a newbie once again, but that really isn’t a bad thing. It has actually given me more motivation and a positive outlook to try different things and put my hand in a few different baskets.

I have a few things on “my plate” right now that I am working on and will hopefully have more updates on this blog as well.

In the past I used to just make sites to make some extra money and it was all about the money, but now I want to build a “real business.” I want to explore different avenues and don’t get me wrong I still have monetary goals but it’s different now. Not really sure how to explain it but my attitude and work ethic has changed and I will make this work. In fact, I’m hoping that in the future this site will help people find a way to really make money online and build their successful business. It will be one step at a time and it may take more time that it has taken others, but there is no way I’m turning back now.

Anyways, I’m pretty surprised at just how many other fellow IMers who I used to follow haven’t posted in quite some time as well. It got me thinking about if they had quit/given up or if they are just too busy building their business for their blogs and forums right now.

So, any long lost fellow IM friends out there want to say, “Hi!” Give a shout out in the comments so we know you are still alive as well

My kids absolutely love the movie Finding Nemo. Even though the forgetful fish Dory seems like she may not be the smartest fish in the ocean, she has some really great advice that I now relate to my business and the world of Internet marketing.

“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…”

For the past almost 5 years that I have been making money online there have been quite a few obstacles and shakeups that have happened. When I was freelance writing it would be the loss of a good client because they no longer had money or were going in a different direction or a site that paid revenue shares for your articles shutting down and that monthly payment stopped.

For the past almost 3 years that I have been focusing on building my business with my own websites, there have been quite a few shakeups. The most popular one was the Panda update, but now the Penguin update has become even larger (for me at least).

With this last update Google was supposedly targeting webspam and over optimization but there have been quite a few sites that were definitely not spam that have been hit and several spammy sites that actually gained from this update.

This is really the first time that almost all my sites have been hit and my income has dramatically dropped. The site that I was basing my case study off of was hit. My EMD that I knew wasn’t going to last much longer but was making me decent money was hit. My larger site that didn’t have more than 10 backlinks built to it and was all original content was hit and so on and son.

From what I have been reading there really doesn’t appear to be a clear cut rhyme or reason why some sites got hit and why some other spammy sites are sitting on the first page.

In fact I was researching a new possible site that I wanted to create that wouldn’t be based off SEO alone but would me a lot more social and what I found got me quite frustrated.

The keyword that I searched for in Google was a very popular keyword that gets over 40,000 exact searches a month. Sitting on the front page were 2 “mommy blogs” that had tons of sponsored posts from Social Spark. In fact the one that was ranked #7 for this very popular keyword had 10 posts on the front page of the site and 8 of them were sponsored posts, which means the blog owner got money for writing the post and including a link to a product or company in the post. To me, this is the ultimate spam and since the posts had nothing to do with the main theme of the site it was even worse.

Now, why would a site that gets paid to blog about products and companies be sitting at #7 for a widely searched term if Google was trying to get rid of spam?

What Are You Going to Do About It?

For the past 2 months or so I have been in this funk where I have been completely unmotivated to work. My earnings were stagnant and I just wasn’t “feeling” it anymore.

Then came along the big old Penguin and it really got me thinking. I have read forums and several blogs about the latest algorithm update and at first it was depressing. Seeing my earnings go from anywhere from $50-$80 a day to $5-$15 a day is still depressing, but this time I’m not sitting around on my butt moping.

Instead I am going to take massive action and just start working. I am going to mix things up and make some smaller sites and really large sites. I am going to get backlinks different ways and even not get backlinks at all. I’m just going to try different things and see what works.

Right now I am building a site for a Clickbank product and plan on backlinking the site using a few different methods. I want to see where this site can go as I have never fully focused on Clickbank before. I also plan on building a site in a niche that I know very well and plan on being social and not building any unnatural links except a blog comment to get to know other bloggers.

I’m just going to “keep swimming” and see what happens. Fortunately I have the luxury of being able to experiment as we are not dependent on my income to pay the bills right now. I know others may not have that opportunity which is why I plan on sharing what I find from these different methods with all of you here on this blog.

For the next weeks and months I plan on busting butt and working like I have never worked before. Publishing more words than I have ever before and simply working more than I have ever before. For me it sort of seems like “do or die” and I am not going to be one of those that “die” right now. Instead I will work, dabble in a few different things and find something that will make me the money I want to be making.

Stay tuned and in the mean time…

I used to use the site Picnik quite a bit when it came to resizing pictures, editing pictures, and even making photo collages for my site. Even when using stock photography I like to make my pictures look a little different than the normal ones by cropping them or adding my own unique touch to them.

Well, if you have ever used Picnik you most likely have seen that the site has now closed down. I never paid for the full subscription so I really didn’t feel like finding a replacement that cost me money. I know there are other programs that you can download to your computer that can do just about the same thing (like GIMP) but for some reason I like the quick, website ones that to me, are easier to use.

Anyways, I was able to find a few different free Picnik alternatives and thought I would share them with anyone else who may like to use these photo editing sites for their pictures.

My collage from iPiccy that took me 2 minutes to make!

If you visit Picnik.com right now you will notice that they have moved their tools to Google+. I personally won’t be using that at all (I’m sure there are other IMers out there that are on the same page as me) So, I can’t comment on that one but you can check it out for yourself if you like.

PicMonkey

The other site that is now recommended is PicMoneky.com. This site works in basically the same way that Picnik used to as you don’t even have to log in to upload a photo and do basic edits on it. You can really do all sorts of edits with this site and I haven’t really dug into the site that much yet, but this is definitely a very good free alternative to Picnik. It is easy to use and pretty straightforward.

One of the features I liked on Picnik was the ability to make collages and it appears that PicMonkey will be adding that feature very soon.

BeFunky

BeFunky.com is another free alternative to Picnik that is also pretty cool. It offers tons of different edit options and you can upload pictures from your PC as well as places like Facebook, Flickr, and photobucket. They even have some pretty neat “goodies” that you can add to your pictures that can make your pictures look a little more original. You can even use these “goodies” to make a unique header for your site as well.

iPiccy

The site iPiccy.com is yet another free Picnik alternative that doesn’t require you to sign in or register in order to use the editing features. It looks very similar to what Picnik used to look like and seems very straight forward and easy to use.

It appears that the site is still in beta, but I have known several websites that have been in beta for years!

They recently added a collage feature if you are interested in that as well (check out the collage above that literally took me 2 minutes to make.) When you check out the collage feature they have a lot of different templates to choose from which is really nice to have. I know that I have used collages on several of my sites to make the post more unique.

Pixlr and Pixlr Express

I haven’t really played around with Pixlr.com yet but they are another free option for photo editing. You can upload photos from your computer, webcam or from a web address. They do seem to have several editing features and if you played around I’m sure you could find some neat things.

As you can see there are several free alternatives to Picnik and you don’t have to go out and pay for an expensive program like Photoshop if you are just doing simple and quick photo edits and want something easy to use.

With the huge interest in Pinterest right now it is definitely a smart idea to add unique and attention grabbing pictures to your websites.

The whole point of doing a case study is to be completely honest so you and other people can learn from the results. Well, to be completely honest, I completely dropped the ball on this case study.

My plan was to publish at least one article a day on the site and the goal was to get at least 50 new posts up in March.

I only got up 13 posts in the month of March, which is less than one post every other day.

You see, the whole family got sick the second week of March and it took us a little over a week to completely get over it. (It’s not fun being the mom who is sick and having 3 sick little ones). Then it took some time to get back into the mix of working and then a few days later the whole blog networks deindexing happened, which sort of stopped me in my tracks. Truthfully, I lost motivation to work and am still working on focusing on what I really want to do with my business.

Now, that you know all of my excuses for not meeting my goal, here are some numbers to crunch (remember, only 13 new posts were added in March).

Month of March Traffic

If you take a look you may notice that towards the end of the month the traffic started going down. For the past 3 days into April, the traffic has not risen back into the higher numbers. Not sure if this is because I haven’t worked on the site in about 3 weeks or due to a certain seasonal post which has now passed its prime.

Traffic was up for the month of March though. The average number of visits per day was 216 compared to 119 in January and 168 in February. Not that big of a jump but it did slightly increase.

Traffic Comparison

Here is a look comparing the traffic for January, February, and March of this year.

Does More Traffic Mean More Earnings?

As I mentioned before this site doesn’t make that much money but it does make some.

Most people assume that more traffic always means more earnings, but for this month this actually was not true. Even though I had over 1600 more unique visits this month than in February, I made less money in March than in February.

I made about 10% less in March than in Feb with this site. For the amount of money this site makes it isn’t that big of a difference but I would definitely like to see the earnings go up next month instead of down.

Case Study Goals for April

Even though I feel like I have tons of other things going on in my life right now and the motivation for my business is lacking right now I will be continuing with the case study.

Here is what I am hoping to accomplish for the month of April

*30 new posts on the site

*Build a few more backlinks to the site using various methods from web 2.0s to blog comments.

For the past few weeks I have been really examining my business and looking at what the best way to grow it is. There are some people who think they can grow their online business my making hundreds of niche sites with each site making them a few dollars every day. This may work for some people, but this is what I am getting away from in my business.

I don’t have a lot of websites compared to some other people but I do have way too many for me to handle. I also have some that are thin affiliates sites and even some that I would constitute spammy. I’m getting rid of these sites and I want to build a real business with my few authority sites.

For a while now I have been contemplating simply building authority sites that I can be proud of, but with the recent events (such as the deindexing of BMR) and going through Lisa Parmley’s Authority Site Model course I have decided that the only sites I am going to have are authority sites that I enjoy writing about and want to build a business around.

I am deleting my sites that are spammy. I am deleting the thin affiliate sites that I haven’t even got around to working on. I am not renewing the EMD (exact match domains) that I haven’t gotten around to building yet. Some people may wonder why I don’t just leave the sites instead of deleting them, but truthfully I don’t want the hassle of having to update them all the time and them potentially getting hacked and possibly affecting my authority sites.

I am still working on narrowing down my sites and coming up with game plans for all of them, but I plan on having less than 10 websites (plus I am keeping 5 or so Halloween sites). For right now though I am only going to be building 3-4 at most and will just hold on to the other ones for the years to come.

I’m In This for the Long Haul

I want to build sites that I can be proud to attach my name to. I want to build sites in niches were I actually enjoy writing the articles and interacting with other bloggers and webmasters. I want to be able to confidently approach other sites in my niche to make guest posts instead of depending on getting backlinks from paid networks because I know other sites won’t want to link to my site because it just doesn’t look real.

Most of my sites are not that bad and I only have a few spammy and think sites, but I also want to go through the better sites and decide which ones I actually want to pursue in building. I know for sure that one of the sites that I will be keeping is my case study site.

I will still be targeting keywords for my sites and using SEO tactics, but I am also going to be incorporating more networking with other bloggers. I’m going to be building larger, authority sites that cover broad niches so I am sure I will have tons of sites that I can network with.

Why Now?

There are actually several reasons why I am changing my business up a little bit.

*I don’t want to be completely reliant on Google. I plan on building mailing lists and having connections with other people in my niches to help pad any blow Google may send my way.

*Backlinking networks like BMR are being targeted by the Big G and I don’t want to use them anymore.

*I want to enjoy working and be proud of the things I am putting on the web.

*Building an authority site is a long term plan for me. These sites may not make me thousands now but in a few years I know one of these sites can really take off and bring in the kind of money I am aiming for.

*I have been doing Internet marketing for 2.5 years now and I need to do something different to really build my income.

*I want to be able to spend more time with my kids and fewer sites and more focus means more time for my family.

*I really think this direction will help with my motivation funks that I get into.

*Lastly, I have been doing a lot of analyzing of some of my favorite sites (not related to IM) and believe that you can make money in a niche you are passionate about if you treat it like a real business. That means putting out quality content, helping others, networking, and being proud of the work you are doing.

If you want to learn more about the type of sites I am going to build, check out Lisa Parmley’s Authority Site Model. Although my sites may not exactly be like her course recommends, it is the best course that I have seen on building sites for a real business that will stand long term and won’t have you getting panic attacks every morning wondering if your site has been penalized or if you lost your affiliate account.

And for anyone wondering, yes, Passive Income Goals will be staying put!

In my last post about starting a new case study, I mentioned that I was making my website into an authority site. Even though a lot of people (me included) are making money from thin, affiliate sites I do believe that type of site is not the best for a long term business. That is why I plan on turning a lot of my sites into authority sites that people want to read.

What Is An Authority Site?

Some people mistake an authority site for a large website full of thousands of posts. Yes, an authority website can have thousands of post but it can also have 100 posts as well. On the other hand a spammy, spun-content website that no one learns anything from can also have thousands of posts.

When talking about an authority website I’m talking about the ones that have high quality content, answer the questions you are looking for and have some sort of authority on the subject even if it just means they did research on the subject.

An authority website is not one with 2 or 3 pages that only targets 1 or 2 keywords and the articles took about 10 minutes to write. It isn’t a website with spun content that you can’t even understand. It is not a site that has a product review after a product review with no other articles on it.

Building an Authority Site

I really do believe that unless you start building authority sites you may start seeing your sites being hit by the Big Panda (if you haven’t already). Now, I’m not saying that authority sites are Panda-proof but with this type of site you can build a list full of people who like your site and want to know more from you. That list can keep the money flowing in even if the site gets slapped by Panda.

I am no expert on building an authority site. As I mentioned in my case study, I am just starting to go this route with my sites and am already seeing success with them.

One person that is an expert in building authority sites is Lisa Parmley. She makes over 6 figures a year (for the past 6 years) with her websites and is not some “guru” who makes money selling product to the IM crowd but actually makes 6 figures with her niche websites.

Lisa just released a new product called Authority Site Model and I have to say this is perfect timing with my case study and how I am looking to build a long term business with my sites.

I can vouch for Lisa as her Inline SEO course is the best course I have seen for SEO. In fact the last website I built that was based off step by step of Inline SEO is now ranks #1 for higher traffic keywords and gets around 500 unique visits a day. So, trust me when I say that Lisa knows her stuff.

The Authority Site Model takes a look at building an authority site properly. It is a step-by-step course with over 11 hours of training videos.

This course can help you properly make your authority site so that you can crank up your income and have a site that Google actually likes instead. I really believe that if you follow this course it will more than pay for itself with the income you will make from your site.

The topics that Lisa covers in Authority Site Model include:

Research – Determine if the market you are choosing is a profitable one.

List Building – Learn how to structure your lists and the emails you should be sending.

Keywords and Site Structure – Map out the exact pages you will have on your site based off the best keywords

Authority Content – A look at high quality content and attracting readers with your content (link-bait). Also includes hiring writers and other quality control issues.

Building Your Site – Domain name selection, quick tutorial on WordPress and plugins and monetization

Promoting Your Site – Learn all about Lisa’s strategies for gaining real links to your sites as well as forced backlinks. Includes special methods for getting traffic that have nothing to do with search engines.

I think that Lisa’s Authority Site Model course is for beginners, intermediates and even advanced IMers who are looking to get away from thinner affiliate or Adsense sites. Authority sites can be monetized with just about anything from affiliate links to Adsense and CPA offers so this can be a long term way for you to continue making money with your website. Plus when you build authority sites you don’t need to have 50 of them. In fact, you could probably have 2-3 of them and start earning a real nice income every month.

This course is not cheap because the material inside is not cheap. It is not your average $47 or $27 course that rehashes 2 other courses. Lisa has proven that she makes money with her niche websites and based on her InLine SEO course she knows what she is talking about.

For me, Authority Site Model is an investment that I will make back quickly and fits in perfect with my case study and will help me make my website earn for many years to come.

If you aren’t sure about buying Authority Site Model, check out the free report Lisa posted about making authority sites.

It’s been about a month since I last updated my blog but for the past couple of weeks I have been in sort of a “funk” when it comes to working and my sites. I sometimes question what I am doing and then end up taking no action because I don’t know if what I am doing is actually going to help.

So, I decided that I was simply going to work and stop worrying about everything else. Since I am going to be trying something new with one of my sites, I decided to share it with my readers (if there are any left!).

How to Get More Traffic to Your Website

It goes without saying that if you get more traffic to your website you are usually going to make more money from it. Although there are probably some exceptions to this, most IMers know that more traffic usually equals more income.

So, how do you go about getting more traffic to your website?

Well, there are actually several ways you can do this. You can backlink the heck out of your home page or another page on your site and get it to rank at #1 for a very popular keyword. You could join all the different social media sites like Twitter and Facebook and get people to follow you and read your site like that….

Or you can post a whole crap load of content on your site and rank for tons of long tail and lesser searched for keywords. This is basically the course I am going to be taking with one of my sites and will be sharing in this case study.

My Plan to Get More Traffic to My Authority Site

I have a website that is in a very broad niche (think health, home improvement, parenting and other niches that can have hundreds of different topics that are related). This website has been one of my main focuses since the beginning of the year and I am attempting to make it into an authority site in the niche.

Since the beginning of the year I have been publishing a post on the website about every other day. Although the traffic has been slowly rising it is not rising as fast as I hoped. Then I came across a case study that Wanda and Paula from Affiliate Blog Online did about 3 years ago. You can check out their original plan and how the plan worked out for them.

Even though this was from about 3 years ago I still think this plan can work today. I don’t have the time or partner in this business like Wanda and Paula do, so I won’t be publishing 10 posts everyday but I will be publishing more than I am now.

So, here is my plan on how I am going to get more traffic to my website:

Starting March 1, publish at least 1 post a day on the site, preferably 2-3 posts. My plan is to have at least 50 new posts published on the site in the first month.

Each post will be keyword targeted and will have several long tail keywords that I plan on targeting as well.

Continue with posting every day on the site for March, April, and May. I plan on trying to get ahead in this process and will be scheduling post for the future if I can.

Continue backlinking this site as I have been for the past 2 months. I haven’t been doing anything crazy but just sending about 2-4 backlinks to the site every day.

Here are Some Current Stats that May be of Some Interest:

The site is almost 3 years old and has only belonged to me.

The site currently has 55 posts on it and most of them are from this year. Before this year it had around 15 posts on it.

The domain is a brandable name and doesn’t have any keywords in it. In fact, I am not even trying to rank the homepage for any real keywords.

Here are the traffic stats for January and February so far.

I will also be looking at the income to the site but probably won’t be giving exact numbers. The site does make some income right now, mostly from Amazon.

I’ll be updating this case study at the end of the month starting in March, so be on the lookout for the first update.

What would you do tomorrow if you woke up and your best earning website was hacked into and the whole website was gone? What about if you decided to play around with the theme of your site and all of sudden you erased every file that was in your site’s database?

Kind of a scary thought huh? You see, website hacking is quite a popular thing. Even though it hasn’t happened to you yet, there is a big probability it will happen to at least one of your sites (especially if you have several sites). I know that I am always leery of doing anything with FTP or messing around with the code too much because I am afraid I will delete my whole site. Even just updating WordPress has me praying that nothing happens to my site.

I decided that for a few dollars every month I was no longer going to worry about this anymore. I no longer have to backup up my sites or always constantly wonder what would happen if I got hacked or if I would even know if I got hacked.

I joined Code Garage’s Locker and now for only $15 a month I have the peace of mind that if anything happened to my sites I would have the files to restore my site.

Code Garage has a program named Locker that is really quite cool. Basically they perform daily backups of your site as well as monitor your site for any hackers or any downtime with your server. This can save you a ton of money and it only cost you $15. Best of all you can try the service for 7 days for free to see if it is something you really need (which I’m sure it is).

There are different plans you can choose from depending on how many sites you want to include. Right now I am only using this for my main earning sites but will probably expand my plan to more sites soon because it is so cheap and takes a huge stress off my shoulders.

Code Garage Locker Plans

*All of the plans include:

7 Day Free Trial

Daily backups

30 Day backup history

Hack Scanning

Uptime monitoring

Everything is stored on Code garage’s servers automatically

*For $10/mo you get 2 sites included

*For $15/mo you get 10 sites included

*For $30/mo you get 25 sites included

*For $50/mo you get 50 sites included

*For $75/mo you get 100 sites included

You pay month by month and there is no contract were you have to sign on for a certain amount of months. In fact you can try the 7 day free trial and then not pay a dime if you don’t like the service.

Stop worrying about the “what ifs” and instead plan for the worse and the worse may just become a 5 minute email to Code Garage to help fix your site and get it back running again.

I know that The Locker gives me a ton of confidence and for $15 or even $30 a month I know my sites are protected and will continue to make me money despite hackers, my messing with code or a down server.

For more information about Code Garage’s Locker, click here.

In the past I have done several posts on finding niches and what niches tend to be profitable. You can even find 50 niches to get you started as well as easy ways to find profitable niches. Since I have been around this Internet marketing game for several years now I decided to change the way I choose my niches. I definitely still recommend that beginners to marketing online use these techniques to finding niches, but since I already have 80 domain names I won’t be looking for any new niches any time soon! (Yes, you saw that right, 80 domain names)

I set some huge goals for 2012 especially when it comes to the amount of words that I want to publish. Before the New Year started I was all excited about writing and even made a schedule for the whole month of January of what sites I was going to work on.

Let me just tell you that January 1, that schedule got thrown into the garbage. It wasn’t because I don’t like being organized and on task but it was because it was holding me back. There was no way I was going to accomplish my goals if I followed that schedule.

How Turned Procrastination Into Productivity

The first website that I had listed to work on was one that had 3 posts on it (selling Amazon items) and I had planned on expanding the site to at least 20 posts. But, the thing is that the site is about the most boring items ever and I simply couldn’t bring myself to write a review of the product.

On January 1, which was supposed to be the start of my super productive year, I sat there staring at a blank page and then at Facebook and then at my email and then at The Pond and then back to a blank page. This actually happened several times during the day until it got to be late at night and came to be my real working time when the kids were sleeping.

It was procrastination at its finest. But the thing is that 2012 is supposed to be different. I have to be super productive and take massive action but I was already failing on the first day.

I thought about it and the only reason why I was procrastinating was because I didn’t want to write that stinking boring review of the product. I was wasting my day away all because of that one product review that was on my schedule to write. I had no interest in this product and truthfully haven’t even used one of them before.

Right then and there I changed my tune for the year because I couldn’t continue to keep wasting time. I would never reach my goals that way. I decided I wasn’t going to let profitability or how much money I could make with this popular niche decide what type on website I worked on.

Instead, the niches I am going to focus on this year are ones that I have an interest in. The ones that I have actually used the products. The ones were it doesn’t take me 3 hours to write a review because I know nothing about the product and find it completely boring.

After letting myself off the hook for the review I was able to write almost 3,000 words for one of my other websites. I turned my procrastination into productivity with one simple switch of my business plan.

This may not work for everyone and some people actually enjoy the challenge of writing on things they aren’t familiar with. But for me, I have plenty of websites that can make a great deal of money and they are in niches that I don’t find completely boring and can easily write on.

That is what I love about internet marketing that there are no straight guidelines or rules that you have to follow to grow your business. I want to be productive and make my income goals and for me that means concentrating on the niches I enjoy. Otherwise I would most likely find myself sitting there staring at the blank page or Facebook or watching TV instead.
