Paul’s Prayers – July 2, 2025

It was dangerous to become a Jesus follower in the ancient world. The cities had their own false gods and goddesses that the people believed kept their city safe. Every city had two kinds of inhabitants—the seen and the unseen. By keeping the unseen happy, you were protected, if not, bad things would happen – floods, earthquakes, famines, or disease pandemics. Their priests would identify what the problem was. So, when Christians stopped observing their worship rituals, they were to blame for any bad event that occurred. The people would chant “Christians to the lions”. So, Paul writes this epistle to encourage and enlighten the people of this new, but endangered church, to help them get established in the faith.

Paul’s prayer for the church at Colosse focuses on spiritual growth, wisdom, understanding, divine empowerment, and living with gratitude and thanksgiving. It points out how believers have been delivered and translated out of Satan’s kingdom into God’s kingdom of love.

The evidence speaks for itself. Man is without excuse. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of God. Victorious over death, Hell, and the grave. Steven was stoned; Andrew was crucified on an X-shaped cross; Bartholomew was skinned, beheaded, and crucified; Lawrence was grilled to death, Joan of Arc was burned at the stake; John Wycliff was declared a heretic for exalting Biblical truth above church doctrine. Hatred for his writings moved Pope Martin V to have his body exhumed and burned along with his writings 44 years after his death. William Tyndale, father of the English Bible, was put to death by strangling, and his body was burned at the stake.

Our salvation involves three stages of perfection. Positional, practical, and ultimate perfection. Theologically, they are justification, sanctification, and glorification. Understanding these stages will help us stay the course and promote our spiritual growth and development. PS. 138:8 says God perfects what concerns us. IS. 41:13 says God will help us by holding our right hand. As we look to God’s Word and invite the Holy Spirit to help us, we can expect to be changed from glory to glory into the image of our Lord.

No one would accuse God of being a bad Father; yet, His children disobeyed and rebelled against Him, and opened the door to all the evils we face in the world today. If this happened with a perfect Father in a perfect environment, how can we succeed with imperfect people in an imperfect environment? The Fifth Commandment mandates we honor our parents. We do so by showing them reverence, by obeying them, and by showing them gratitude. God is so serious about this law that He attached a death sentence to those who refuse to obey it.

four Spring Feasts, occurring 50 days after First Fruits.

On October 7, 2023, Israel was attacked by a militant group known as Hamas. The attack included thousands of missiles being fired and many suicide Hamas- driven trucks being driven in the land. Civilians, including mothers and children, are being mercilessly slaughtered. The goal of the group is to exterminate or drive out every Jewish person from the land.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially declared the state of Israel as being at war. He declares the response will be fierce, intense, and unrelenting. “Much more blood will be shed”. The U.S. has pledged to send help and assist the people of Israel in their time of need. What we can do is pray.

Pastor Will discuss on how the power of God’s word of protection will power through any obstacle taking place.

Today’s service: God’s work is a supernatural work that requires supernatural power. Without it, we’d be like Samson with no hair. Jesus was anointed with Holy Ghost power (LK 4:18); Paul was also (2 COR. 1:21-22); and so were the prophets, priests, and kings. The apostles were instructed to preach the Gospel, but not before being anointed with power from on high (ACTS 1:8). If all these needed the anointing to be effective in accomplishing God’s work on earth, what about us? If we’ve been commissioned to continue the works of Jesus, then we, too, need power from on high to do so! Zerubbabel lost sight of it (ZECH. 4:6).

In 2021, nearly 6,000 individuals were martyred for Christ. An increase of 24% from 2020. In 2021, 360 million Christians world-wide suffered significant persecution for their Christian faith. In the early church, many died a martyr’s death by stoning, sawing, burning, crucifixion, and many other forms of torture and capitol punishment. Stephen was the first martyred for Christ (ACTS 7:59-60). In short, a true disciple of Christ is one who’s willing to lay down his life for the one who laid down His life for him.

With a heavy schedule of appointments, President Lincoln had an elderly woman with no official business in mind ask to see him. As she entered his office, he rose to greet her and asked how he might be of service. She replied that she had not come in to ask a favor. She had heard that the President liked a certain kind of cookie, so she baked some for him and brought them to his office. With tears in his eyes, Lincoln responded “You are the very first person who has ever come into my office asking not, expecting not, but rather bringing me a gift. I thank you from the bottom of my heart”.

According to Jesus, the temple was not a place for extorting people for personal gain. It was a place where sincere hearts commune with God and express true worship from grateful hearts. Today, believers individually and collectively are the temple of God. As with the temple in Jerusalem, it is to be used in the service and praise of God. If it’s not, then it needs to be cleansed. In what condition is our temple? Is it a place where God can reside? If it needs cleansed, look to Jesus for cleansing and fill it with prayer, power, praise and Godly Virtue.
