Antisemitic Domestic Terrorist to Speak at University

The State University of New York at Brockport has invited a convicted domestic terrorist and co-founder of an antisemitic organization to be its featured speaker at an April 6 event. Anthony Bottom, also known as Jalil Muntaqim, was a member of the Black Liberation Army (BLA), a domestic terror group that was responsible for a series of bombings and murders during the 1970s and 80s. A 1991 Maryland State Police report said that killing police officers was among the BLA's stated goals. Group members killed at least 15 police officers. Bottom was involved in three of those murders. He was convicted in the cold-blooded 1971 shooting deaths in of two New York Police Department officers, Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones, and SFPD Sgt. John Young

The January 2022 ISIS attack on a prison in the Syrian city of Hasakeh in an attempt to free several hundred incarcerated members of the terror group demonstrates that ISIS does not see prison as the end of the line for its followers. ISIS itself was formed in 2004 in an Iraqi prison known as Camp Bucca, named after FDNY member Ronald Bucca who died in the 9/11 attacks. The attack also shows the resurgence of the insurgency group as a force to be reckoned with. We need to be just as committed in stamping out this radical terror group.

"Violence is a part of America's culture. It is as American as cherry pie...If America don't come around, we're going to burn America down." These are the words of a young African American man known as H. Rap Brown. What began as a life involved in the nonviolent civil rights movement spiraled downward to violent crime and murder. Brown's trajectory to a life a violent crime rapidly increased after he left the Black Panther Party. He was arrested in 1971 for armed robbery in New York City and sentenced to prison. He converted to the Dar ul Islam movement,while in Attica Following his conversion he changed his name to Jamil Al-Amin. He was arrested in 2000 for the shooting death of Deputy Ricky Kinchen. Courts found "substantial physical evidence" linking Jamil Al-Amin to the 2000 murder of Atlanta deputy Ricky Kinchen trying to serve an arrest warrant. But an Islamic Circle of North America branch casts Al-Amin as a persecuted civil rights leader.

"If you're asking me if I ever considered him a hero or a valuable contributor to the civil rights movement, my answer is definitely no," (David Kinchen, brother of slain officer)

National Peace Officers Memorial Day was marked last month. Initiated by President Kennedy in 1962, it honors those law enforcement officers who were killed or wounded in the line of duty. Attempts to re-write Jamil Al-Amin's story is an insult to Deputy Kinchen's memory. Read More in IPT News...

France now joins the United Kingdom in calling for enhanced security supervision conditions for those coming out of its prison system. Here in the United States, there are no uniform standards for restrictions on terrorists released from prison. Each time a terrorist is released, the U.S. Probation Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office must apply to the court for changes to the supervised release conditions.

A concerted effort is needed by western democracies to develop effective strategies that deal with recently-released terrorists and those radicalized in prison.

The flawed policy of releasing convicted terrorists before they have completed their sentences has once again struck a lethal blow. This time it happened in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Kujtim Fejzulai, armed with a handgun, assault rifle, and machete attacked innocent civilians Monday outside the Seitenstettengasse synagogue, killing four and wounding several others including a police officer responding to the incident. Fejzulai had been previously convicted of providing material support for a terrorist organization following his capture in Syria when attempting to join ISIS. He was sentenced in April 2019 to 22 months in prison. However, because of his age and Austria's lenient policies regarding youthful offenders, he was released in December having served just 8 months of his original sentence...Read More in IPT News

Released Terrorist Back in Jail

Convicted terrorist Kevin James is back in custody. James, also known as Ahmed Binyamin Alasiri, was indicted in August 2020 by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles for selling methamphetamine and Ecstasy. James had previously served 16 years in federal prison for conspiring to wage war against the United States. He founded a radical Islamic terrorist organization, Jam'iyyat Ul-Islam Is-Saheeh (JIS), while an inmate in the California Department of Corrections. The JIS group was tasked with attacking U.S. military installations and Jewish synagogues in Los Angeles. His arrest came just a year after James was released by the Bureau of Prisons and placed under strict post-release supervision conditions by the U.S. Probation Office. James wanted to have those stringent conditions removed. That appeal was placed on hold last week pending the outcome of the drug trafficking case.

The United Kingdom has just passed emergency legislation that will stop the early release of convicted terrorists from prison. This decisive action comes on the heels of two recent terror attacks in London by jihadists who were released from prison earlier than the end of their sentences for terror-related crimes. It shouldn't take two terrorist attacks like London has recently endured for the issue to be taken seriously. Amman and Khan could become role models for convicted jihadis still harboring a lust for blood and martyrdom. A similar bill sits in the U.S. Senate awaiting passage. Without it, convicted terrorists here will continue to look for their cell doors to be opened early.
