I can’t say that moving is done. I’ve spent every night this week at the old house throwing things out and boxing up little things that I probably don’t want.

I LOVE the new house. I just wish I could spend more time there. I have TV and internet at this point. There are a few minor things I learned in building a house. Pre-wire. Pre-wire everything. Sure it is more money up front, but it is done. I didn’t realize every room didn’t come with an overhead light. I would have put more of those in had someone told me.

We have visitors. Hundreds of them. They all want to see the inside.

How are you? Why yes, I have a book deadline and I am very far behind. It’ll work out.

Still unpacking and cleaning and going to work. Using limited internet until tomorrow. No TV until Wednesday. A couple of minor issues with the house, but all livable until they get the warrany people onsite. Lots of little things left to do in the move, but the major part is over…

It is madness, I tell you. Madness!!

As always, Kris provides great advice on writing. You can see her in person at my conference. Ok, it’s not really my conference, but I always go and it is a great conference. You should go, too.

One thing about the article I linked is, that is the exact thing that Kris pointed out in my story that she critiqued in that workshop in May 2005(Wow, has it been that long?) which set me on the road to wanting a publishing career, rather than just a retirement hobby. I mean, I wanted one before that, but didn’t think the goal was realistic.

There were many many problems in that story. Many of them had become obvious during the critique of the other students’ stories. My story was the example of ‘fake’ details. So, the article reminded me of some of the great coaching/teaching I have received from Kris over the years.

Now I have to apply all that learning to a novel that is due in 30 days. I wish I hadn’t let all this worry about moving delay some of my writing. Now I have a near ridiculous word count goal per day, but that’s what makes it fun for a procrastinator, right?

Here’s the latest. They have paved the driveway and put up the stones on the front entry way. I’m still waiting for carpet. That’s the main interior feature missing.

They cleaned up most of the interior paint. See, you have to clean up after trying to touch up the original with the wrong color paint. I should post photos from when they did that.

With any luck, which seems I’ve had an unfortunate run of not having, we’ll close on Friday the 5th and move in on Sunday the 7th. Which is horrible because the 7th is when Football season starts.

And that refridgerator is just a LITTLE bigger than we thought. Oops.

Oh yeah, uh, mine too. But she’s older than I am so, I guess it was her’s first.

There’s a floating date for our house closing. They are hoping to close next week, as am I. It may carry, but they have people working today, so that’s a good sign.
